A/N: Thank you so much!😊💕💕 I’ve actually been wanting to write for Mutant Mayhem for some time now, but I just haven’t had any ideas until now💚 Inspired by when Mikey comments on Leo’s crush on April with: “Here he goes again”, and Donnie’s: “Every girl, man”, implying that MM Leo has had quite a few crushes in the past💙😏

During a grocery run to the nearest bodega, Leonardo sees a girl that makes his heart skip and his insides feel warm.

The sewers beneath New York City were a chaotic blend of echoes as the four brothers moved stealthily through the shadows. With a memorized grocery list in hand, they moved silently and stealthily, just like their father had taught them to, each of them knowing exactly what to get.

Leonardo led the way, his keen eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of trouble. His younger brothers, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, followed closely behind, their ninja senses sharp as they navigated the labyrinthine tunnels, until they made it to the familiar ladder that led them to the world of the humans.

As they reached the surface, the brothers climbed the nearby fire escape before sprinting across the roof, until they found themselves on top of the building that housed the small bodega. Leo surveyed the area, ensuring it was safe, before nodding to his brothers. With practiced ease, they slipped in through the ventilation system.

In the vent just above the store, the four turtles found themselves staring down at the mostly empty store. The only human being, the ever absent minded cashier at the cash register, who was busy with a very infuriating crossword, mumbling about a word that was causing them a lot of problems.

With a quick nod from Leonardo, the brothers crawled out of the vent and split up to cover more ground. Donnie took care of the toiletries, while lip syncing to the music playing in the bodega. Raph was busy finding kitchen and cleaning supplies, while Mikey was digging his way through the best junk food. Leo found himself in the snacks aisle, contemplating the various options. He remembered what his father had told him before they went out. Make sure the Doritos were party sized. Party sized Doritos. Remember that Leonardo.

The bell above the entrance to the bodega rang, altering the cashier and the brothers to a new presence in the small store. All four of them knew what that meant - hide. With lightning fast speed Donnie disappeared up into the vent, Raph found a spot among the cleaning supplies, and Mikey hid up above on top of the long lamps. Leo stayed on the ground, hiding behind the shelves, relieved when he realized that the cashier still hadn't noticed them.

Through the shelves, he caught a glimpse of the person who had just entered the bodega, and his heart almost stopped at the sight, making him drop the Doritos bag. Of course he had expected a human, but he had not expected one looking like you did. Your presence, seemingly ordinary yet captivating, drew Leo's gaze. He couldn't help but watch as you moved through the bodega, selecting items with an easy grace.

You came into the store, humming to the music that was playing in your headphones, totally oblivious to the eyes of Leonardo that were watching your every move.

Leo’s brothers, scattered throughout the store, noticed his distraction and exchanged knowing glances. Raphael, spotting Leo's fixation, smirked and made eye contact with Donatello, who joined in the silent communication with a playful grin.

Leo tried to regain his composure, tearing his eyes away from you for a split second, as he moved to a different shelf, before you managed to see him. His heart was beating, not just from the fear of getting caught by a human, but the thought of how close you were to him. But as you moved away to a shelf further away, Leo couldn’t help but follow along, making sure that he was staying hidden.

Leo watched as you gathered your things before walking up to the cash register. You placed your stuff in front of the cashier, waiting as they groggily started scanning your items. Leo and his brothers used this as an opportunity to get the last they needed, before hurrying back into the vent, all while the cashier was focused on your items.

With all of their groceries in bags, they hurried through the vent and up onto the roof, just in time to see you leave out the front door of the bodega with your newly bought groceries, once again humming to the music in your headphones.

“It feels like / Skuba duba dabda dididaj / Skuba duba dabda dididaj / I love you / Another cliche baby”, you sang along, doing a little dance as you walked.

Leo watched you with a smile, his heart skipping a beat at the sight. There was just something about humans, especially the ones like you, that just warmed his heart. Carefree, dancing and singing down the street, without having to worry about who was watching. How he wished he could do something like that, with someone just like you.

Raphael couldn't resist a teasing comment, hitting Leo’s arm when he saw him staring after you. "Well, well, look who's got heart in his eyes again. Leo, you've got a thing for grocery shopping now?"

Donatello joined in, smirking. "I think I saw a spark between Leo and that cereal box".

Michelangelo laughed. "Maybe it's love at first sight. Or should I say, love at first snack?", he said and pulled out a pack of oreos from his bag, causing both Donnie and Raph to hold their stomach in laughter.

Leo tried to brush off their comments, a faint blush visible under his mask. "It's nothing. Let's just go home".

“Booooooring”, Donnie groaned out loud, as he followed Leonardo’s lead back to the sewers. But his brothers weren't about to let him off the hook that easily.

As they made their way back home through the sewers, Leo’s brothers continued to tease him, comparing you to all the other girls that have caught his attention over the yes. Was it really so bad that he dreamed of getting a girlfriend one day? All human teenagers his age did the same, so was it wrong of him just because he was a turtle.

As they were about to round the corner before the entrance to their home, Leo stopped in realization. He had forgotten the Doritos.

“Oh shit”, he mumbled, before giving his bags to his brothers.

“Yo, what’s happening, man?”, Raph asked in confusion.

“I forgot the Doritos”, Leo said in a hurry. “Tell dad I’ll be back in a minute! I’ll hurry!” And with those words Leo was down the sewer before any of his brothers could protest.

Leo made it to the ladder and pushed the sewer cover off, only to stop dead in his tracks. Right in front of him on the alley floor was a perfect party sized Doritos bag, with a note taped to it.

Leo’s first thought was that he should run. The fear that a human had caught him burning in his throat. But he didn’t run. Instead he looked around to make sure he was alone, before he reached out and grabbed the bag, bringing it down to the sewer. Once at the foot of the ladder, Leo took a look at the note taped to the bag. It was hard to read with his shaking hands, but he managed.

“Hey stranger! I think you dropped this at the bodega, so I thought I would bring it to you. (Y/N) <3. P.S. You and your friends are quite noisy once you get up on the roof;)”.

Leo felt like fainting. A human had brought him the Doritos that his dad had asked him for. Not just any human, but you. The pretty human from the bodega.

Heat creepy up his cheeks, as he took the note and hid it in a pocket on his belt. Thinking back on Raph’s comment, Leo couldn’t help but giggle a little. He might have a thing for grocery shopping now.

yeah, i've been a fan of fire emblem since awakening came out, and went back and played some of the older games. three houses was quite good and i liked it a lot!

as for it being an inspiration, not even remotely hahahaha. but yeah i can see how you'd make that connection! it does have that same energy, doesn't it?

as for your other question, master ninjas of course! ok ok fine i'll do it for real i'd say raph would be a grappler, easy. i was going to say trickster for leo, but i'm going to change that to grandmaster. mikey would make a good warlock and donnie... hmmmmm. i like the idea of him as an apothecary because of the medicine box. but assassin might also work for the dex skill.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Fire Emblem: Three Houses! The Fire Emblem game that finally convinced me to get into FE 😂 I was a big Suikoden V fan when Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn came out for the Wii and I was about to get it, but people on forums were like "If you're a Suikoden fan only, you won't enjoy FE because of PERMADEATH and it's REALLY HARD" so I swore them off for over a decade (the irony that I got really into Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn down the road though and I cosplay Ena XD). Fast forward to 2019 when Three Houses was coming out and I got to work with Faye Mata at a convention I was graphic designer for. Her character Petra was so intriguing to me so I ended up binge watching all three routes of the game. I had bought a Timeskip Petra outfit on AliExpress, but due to COVID, it was questionable when I was going to receive it. I got a refund and then sent my friend MagicalAni the funds to help me with the sewing and beading. I did the wig dying and styling, armor work, sword modding, and all the other accessories besides the beading. I also created her tattoos in Illustrator and printed them out on tattoo paper. I ended up getting her school uniform on Miccostumes as well. For that version of her hair, I just braid the wig and call it a day. No separate wig necessary (except the dye does run a bit on the blouse if it's too hot; but that's easily editable if it gets too bad). I've been so lucky to be a part of a few FE3H photoshoots over the years. I am still trying to find a Dorothea to take photos with though!

Warning: the following explanations are wildly out of order with large variations of detail

Leo is the obvious choice for Jack Kelly, both being angsty tenor protagonists and all, but I also think about it in the way they both so clearly want something. For Jack its Sante Fe, a place he's romanticized into this perfect world away from all of his hardships. Leo in the ROTTMNT movie is desperately hanging onto the past. Before he became leader, before the Shredder, maybe even before they became heros. He wants everything to go back to the way it was, where they could just go in, smash, get out and then grab pizza on the way home. But as things got more serious, this became unrealistic.

Raph serves as the role for Crutchie, more specifically he is taken to the refuge after they try and stop the wagons. This scene is what inspired everything. Maybe someone fucks up his eye with a police baton or something. This is what leads Leo to sing Sante Fe and then give up in the second act.

As for the earlier characters, Casey Junior is Davie. He just moved to NYC from another town where the job he had (tbd) had a union (cough rebellion cough) so he knows a lot about how to rally a group, just lacks the confidence. Originally I was going to have Donnie play this role... but I wanted to include CJJ somehow and I thought Don would be a perfect Spot Collins lmao, he definitely can be scary enough. Also I feel like Casey and Leo's talk in the collapsed subway station can parallel Jack and Davie in Medda's theater in the second act.

April O'Neil is a no brainer for Katherine, except I'm dropping the romance sub plot because I don't really like writing romance and even beyond the turtle human situation I just don't think that April and Leo would like eachother like that, you know? Also I feel like Katherine and April have some of the same spunk. They are also both witty so writing an April and Leo argument in this context would be so fun.

April is following the story and grows fond of the newsies and the Hamatos. Her pen name is April O'Neil, and I'm debating whether or not I keep Pullizer as her dad because Pullizer is Krang Prime and that makes absolutely no sense.

Mikey is still brothers with Leo and Raph, but he serves as Les for the cute little brother laughs and he convinces them to help out Casey, saying he won't help sell papers unless Leo takes Casey under his wing.

The newsies work for the Krang's newspaper business, but uhhh i have no ideas for clever names similar to The New York World but alien style. The New York Dimension???

Big Mama is Snyder because, you know, Snyder the spider. Her "refuge" hosts an underground child fighting ring. It sucks. Leo has escaped there in the past when he outsmarted her, and she hates him for it and is constantly after him. Leo takes refuge (hehe) in Señor Hueso's resturaunt, which he makes up for by waiting tables. April is there rating food and service, and Hueso warns Leo not to give her a bad impression. This is when they first meet. Hueso's is also where the Newsies gather in I'm The King of New York and other scenes. The glasses of water scene would be hilarious.

So uhhh yeah. In conclusion hyperfixation + other hyperfixation = WOAHHH THATS SO FIRE.

TMNT Splinter and Raphael Moment

Like how Raphael has a bug phobia.

Splinter has a cat phobia.

I like to think Splinter was always scared of cats for reasons...no one really knows and not just him developing the fear when he turned into a giant rat.

When Mikey brought home ice cream kitty, I imagine Splinter having a hard time.

Short story.

...

Splinter was on his way to the kitchen to grab himself a snack. His favorite. Cheesecals! He smiled as he went to open the freezer but just as he was about to reach for his favorite treat, different flavors of ice cream began to form, shaping itself into a cat that got Splinter's eyes to wide.

Ice Cream Kitty titled her out and gave a cute, "Meow" which caused Splinter to let out a startle scream and slam the freezer door shut. He panted, as his heart raced. 'I had forgotten about her.'

Splinter growled to himself, hating that he agreed to let Michelangelo keep his new ice cream beast of a friend but with her being a mutant, they could not just let her wander around now, can they? And by the time Donatello comes up with a cure, Michelangelo would grow far to attach to get rid of it and Splinter never had the spin to break his youngest's heart.

"Why did it have to be cat? Out of anything else in the world. Why did it have to be a cat?" He muttered to himself, still shaken until he sensed someone behind him and turned to see his youngest son, looking at him wide eyed with his mouth agape.

Judging by his expression, he had seen everything, and Splinter began to look absolutely flustered. "M-Michelangelo!" He cleared his throat and folded his hands behind his back, trying to regain his posture. "How long have you been standing there?"

"Papa..." Mikey breathed before his face turned into a smile. "You're scared of kitties!" If Splinter did not have fur his face would be red by now. "No!" He yelled too quickly, out of reflex and Mikey grinned. "This is awesome! I didn't think you were scared of anything."

Splinter glared at his son sternly. "I am not afraid, Michelangelo, I was just...I was getting a snack, and I just changed my mind. That is all."

"Suure~" Mikey stretched out teasingly, causing Splinter to scowl. "So, why are you scared of cats? Is it because you're a rat and your scared they'll eat you?"

"Michelangelo, I don't-"

"Or were you scared of cats before you mutated?" Mikey asked, sincerely curious. "Michelangelo-!"

"Oh! Wait till everyone else hears about this! They'll be so shocked!"

Before Splinter could respond, Mikey got slapped upside the head by Raph who just appeared out of nowhere. "You ain't going to tell anyone!"

"Ow! Raph, what was that for?!" Mikey pouted but Raph just glared at him. "Shut it and get lost, and don't you dare mention this again or else, I'll tell Renet you still sleep with a teddy bear because you're too scared of the dark!"

Mikey gasped and quickly dashed out of the kitchen. Once he was gone, Splinter let out a breath of relief. "Thank you, my son."

"Eh, don't mention it," Raph brushed off as he went to the freezer to open the door, which caused Splinter to jump back. Raph paused to look at him and smiled. "You really are scared, aren't ya?"

Splinter frightened eyes turned to a glare as a defensive growl was threatening his throat, but he froze when Raph went into the freezer and grabbed a cheesecal from Ice Cream Kitty. He gave her a couple pats on the head before closing the door and handing the frozen treat to his father. "Here you go."

Splinter slowly took the cheesecal and smiled, letting out an embarrassed chuckle. "Thank you, Raphael." Splinter sighed to himself. "I can not believe, after all these years, I still allow myself to be frightened by a small animal."

"Join the club, Pops," Raph joked. "I am scared of things much smaller."

"Ah, yes, your bug phobia." Splinter nodded, remembering the times he has heard Raph scream and gotten tease by his brothers because of his fear of bugs. "I never did discover what awoke that fear."

"Do you want to tell me what awoke yours?"

Splinter thought about it, remembering how he became afraid of cats in the first place and immediately shook his head since it was quit an embarrassing story. "No."

"Then we're on the same page," Raph said as he began to walk away but stopped briefly to look back at him. "You don't gotta worry about me telling anyone and I'll make sure Mikey does not spill the beans either."

Splinter smiled. "I appreciate it, my son. Perhaps one day, I can help you through your phobia."

Raph snorted. "I think you gotta worry about working through yours first before you go hungry. I won't always be around to get your cheesecals for you."

Splinter sighed, knowing that was true. "Hai..."

Raph chuckled. "Don't worry, you'll get through it. Just remember she is not a normal cat; she is not a cat at all, she is...ice cream." Raph shrugged and then went off to watch TV with his brothers.

Splinter frowned, looking at the freezer from the corner of his eye. He slowly raises his hand to open it to a small crack but before he could open it wider, he heard another, "Meow!" and quickly shut the door again.

"Perhaps another time..."

So on the roadtrip idea again.

Another set of destinations would probably be any of the Meow Wolf locations.

I don't know how well they would be able to cover the turtle thing, but the places are pretty crazy, so maybe people wouldn't care?

While I haven't been lucky enough to visit them, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there showing so much of the locations.

This is a depending on the version kinda of thing, on who would enjoy going to these places. I just know the places would fascinate them, because they art installations that are mind bending and beautiful.

Though some of the features would be hard to move around or explore because of their shells, so they may just have April, and/or Casey carry a camera through areas that they can't squeeze into. Yes this is highly pointed at Rise Raph and the Bay Boys, they are huge!

Though from what I've seen the original one in Santa Fe is built with more tighter, and small areas you have to go through to get to other parts of the exhibit, so unless you want to apply cartoon physics to them, they wouldn't be able to navigate that one very easily.

OmegaMart would be the more interesting one, because it's in Vegas, and it's very popular and it's very hot there, and they would want to hopefully avoid the casinos. And the whole Super Market theme in the front, and the amazing areas in the back.

Though again depending on which version, they may have to actually drag Casey away from at least one Casino area, maybe a Donatello.

Though souvenirs from these places can be pretty awesome, and weirdly cute at times. Could definitely see some of them buying them.

I don't know where Splinter is in all this, he might've been given a separate vacation, but he might like the places, or just find them very confusing.

Why You Should Play It: can't speak for the plot as i haven't finished it but overall very enjoyable experience thus far. i like almost all the characters a lot, which is rare for me. several of them have surprised me. also fun gameplay!!

Why You Should Play It:

found family team of traumatized misfits go on adventures and also stop some corrupt people along the way. i especially love the base final boss (yabbadabbadoo?), the preceding cutscenes, and its trope inversion. there are also...certain plot twists, especially in Royal's DLC that were a fantastic gut punch.

Persona Four (Golden)

some of the story's later arcs took a steel chair to my emotions and went ham. (the seventh dungeon especially)

a seven year old somehow manages to found family someone who is already biologically related to her as a cousin into being her older brother. How. What is this power.

i love some of the more ominous, melancholy or somber tracks in this game (favorite examples include this one, this one, and ESPECIALLY this one)

this one's found family to me too and i will also die on this hill (excepting maybe Kanji and Naoto my beloved, i do ship them a little)

Why You Should Play It: same reasons as P5(R) but murder mystery this time. characters feel a bit more interconnected than P5's, and i found the plot and storyline very impactful and meaningful. also, you can fight people with household items such as a guitar, a steel chair, fish, corn on the cob, a tambourine, roller skates. by contrast, there is exactly one character who uses almost exclusively actual weapons and placing said character amidst the household item wielding ones makes for some very funny disparity.

(i have yet to play persona 3 reload but it is next on my list and i predict it is going to be my favorite of the persona games. stay tuned lol)

i think all of the story's paths have a unique perspective and i enjoyed all of them (though i can't speak for SS, never played it). i admit readily though that AM will forever be my favorite as i find it deals most directly with themes like loss, regret/shame/guilt, forgiveness and facing the past, which are all favorite themes of mine.

i want to protect and adopt every character in this game forever

all of the games i've listed thus far have fantastic voice acting but 3H especially stands out to me in this department. i could go on for a while on this one.

Why You Should Play It: admittedly, i don't think this is really the reason most people enjoy the game, but i personally loved going through the game like it was my solemn duty to protect and care for every student i was teaching. recruiting them read as a matter of life and death to me so i approached it with a certain ferocity. 3H is sort of an RPG/5D-Rock-Paper-Scissors-Chess/Optional Dating Sim(??) so there's probably something for everyone. i ESPECIALLY love relationships between all the characters, Caspar/Linhardt, Raphael/Ignatz and Dimitri/Dedue/Ashe are easily my favorites but there are so so many others to enjoy here too. also you can class characters as something that is wildly unfitting for them. SHOULD Hubert be a brawler? probably not, given that the man has the physical strength of a soggy napkin, but you can train him to do so!!

Do you have any insight on what is the deal with Lorenz's dad? I think Ignatz-Raphael paralogue suggested that he was directing a dude who could control wild beasts (sus dark magic?) to attack merchants going to Derdriu in the present day and to kill Claude's uncle in the past, and he's kinda vaguely supporting the Empire but only because he's looking to side with the victor...? But also wasn't there something something about him in Hopes?

Basically, I am fishing for juicy details.

Lorenz's dad supposedly hates the Riegan family and wanted to get rid of them, Claude's uncle died along with Raphael's parents? - and to get rid of the Riegans, he was willing to stage and mount attacks, and most likely as you pointed out, hiring shady people to do so, like an agarthan or two who could control wild beasts...

But also, Lorenz's dad is someone who wants to protect his people, and sides with the Empire in the non VW routes elsewise, by virtue of having lands near imperial territory, he'd be crushed first. Erwin is also the one who hired Jeralt to protect the Sauin village (where Leonie comes from!) from poachers the first time they met.

In Nopes, like a good chunk of what could be interesting* in FE16, he is whitewashed because everything wrong must have be done by Agarthans, so, somehow, Agarthans were the ones who killed Claude's uncle and Raph's parents, and i don't remember if Erwin learnt about it afterwards or not.

*"the agarthans did it" is the cheapest way they found to make sure everything has an explanation and a clear target, humans cannot be asses because humans being asses is a staple in the FE series, nooo. Agarthans must have "pushed them" or manipulated them to be asses.

Raph's usable but not a part of the A team. Most units don't want to be taking more than one hit anyways so as long as he's not dying in one attack its fine and Raph is one of the more survivable units. What I've tended to have more problems with is his speed, on maddening he get doubled so often and that's what puts him in danger. Defense can be compensated for with a battalion and shield. Wyvern lord would let him canto away from danger thus not needing as much defense. War master and gauntlets would better use his high strength.

Generally speaking a simple progression for Hilda is fighter, brigand, wyvern rider, wyvern lord. Hilda is one of your best physical attackers, wyvern lord is probably her best final class so build towards that. You can optionally pick up pegasus knight for its mastery ability darting blow which is very good. Try to master brigand, most physical units want to for its ability death blow.

Leonie has the highest speed and crit rate in the game. Mostly speed and a little strength determine avoid, crit is equally dex and luck, Leonie has a lot of all 3 she's equally as good at this as Petra is. Leonie is chosen less often as dodgetank because she's such a good archer. To put it another way Leonie is as good a dodgetank as Petra and Ingrid but Petra and Ingrid aren't as good at dealing damage as Leonie. Leonie makes one of the best bow knights in the game and is my personal favorite. Please note bow knight trades mobility for bad stats and growths, other equally good options for her include sniper or a lance class like falcon knight or paladin. Bow knight has the largest range in the game and one of the best at hit and run tactics. With Leonie's high crit she can crit most hits this is especially good for double hit attacks which she may be able to on default with her extremely high speed but also enhances 2 hit combat arts like sniper's hunter'y volley and her personal point black volley.

For Lorenz the main builds are frozen lance paladin vs dark knight, it's a trade off paladin has lancefaire's +5 mt but dark knight has spell casting versatility and range. Long term dark knight also has a mag growth but you're probably already in endgame so by the final map the difference will be small. Personally I like dark knight since in maddening frozen lance starts to fall off in end game and its kill rate becomes shaky leaving Lorenz open to counters (interesting fact is that Lorenz is the one who benefits most from the defensive abilities of Thrysus). With Lorenz, Thrysus augments both his offensive and defense and makes him your tankiest magic option, so it gives him a niche that Lysithea can't fill. Lorenz is one of the best users of dark knight it is HIS class. the versatility of magic usually pays off against a weaker frozen lance which on maddening won't kill in endgame.

Poor Lorenz. 3H rewards min-maxing and punishes versatility and magic-physical mixed units more than other FE games. Lorenz would have done great in Awakening or some of the other games. Thrysus for that mage tank build tho.

for weird/fun builds on ng+ file where you don't have to worry about investment cost Wyvern Lord is an ok option as he can switch between physical and magic axes. I took him down the brawling route once and he did better than expected (not totally useless). If you want low investment just make him healer and build your healer to be an attacker.

There's definitely something going on with cycles in Fodlan, but as with everything remotely interesting in this verse, it's not very well developped or put to the forefront.

There is a mention about various cycles (Larva's paralogue is called Cycles of Nostalgia?) and Rhea herself asks Billy to make sure Fodlan's history won't repeat itself...

About Sothis' line, I completely disregard Pat's version and instead focus on the JP version : Fate exists, but it can be bent!

Now, are the Agarthans the only ones who are able to bend Fate, or is Billy too, in a way, one who bends Fate?

In a way, given how the game plays out - and we had Nopes to hammer that nail, even if AG sorts of stands out a little bit - Billy is one who changes Fate in the Fodlan verse.

We see their influence in Houses, compared to Nopes, and how, and only thanks to them, that Agarthans are defeated and Fodlan doesn't enter another cycle of war with the Agarthans again.

Agarthans are trying to push another cycle of "turn humans against Nabateans" through the Supreme War, after having used Nemesis and while they can bend Fate, as Sothis mentionned, without Sothis' direct avatar, they win, but when Billy's around... they lose.

Aka Billy's Fate bending abilities are even greater than the Agarthans!

But then we go to the crux of Fodlan's shallow writing, what is exactly Sothis role as an arbiter? What is even Fate?

Is it something like Tales of the Abyss' Score where everything is predetermined and people's lives are already written and they can't escape from it, no matter what they do?

But then, Rhea mentions Billy's growth and strength was due to time and Fate, before catching herself and saying it's rather something that happened because of Billy's own choices , but given how this support is pure player pandering, I'm not sure if we can use it to say people in general don't have a predetermined fate and are the results of their choices, or if that is something that only applies to Billy :/

Ultimately, maybe due to my own bias lol, but I don't think Fodlan sells "Fate" as something remotely similar to the Score, people are the result of their own choices and if by design the game tries to sell how Raph picking the salmon sandwich instead of the chicken sandwich is the result of Billy's presence, people are still responsible for what they do.

The jokes about Fate von Hresvelg were initially made regarding Fe Heroes lol because "Fate" has and still is used as an excuse to prevent people from blaming Supreme Leader, or in Doro's case, to show how completely out of the loop she is.

Fodlan has its own continuity, for sure, and yet, Awakening also pulled this "I defy my fate!" shenanigans with Lucina travelling back in time, but it's not something to blame passively, instead, characters act in a certain one claiming to defy Fate - and yet, who's to say Lucina's choices wasn't also fated?

Much like FE13, Sothis' mention that Jerry's fate was bent by Agarthans makes me believe in Fodlan, Fate isn't something that is fixed for everyone, even if pandering means that, factually, everyone's fate in this verse is bent by Billy's existence and choices which is another demonstration of Fodlan's ludonarrative dissonance!

I feel like the whole thing about the war being “fate,” I kinda get the impression that it’s meant to be true. Look at what Sothis says when Jeralt dies, “Control yourself. Though Jeralt's death was at the hands of wicked ones, a fate is still a fate.” Putting the Japanese text through DeepL, we get “Jeralt's fate was bent at the hands of those wicked men.” Effectively, Sothis was saying that while Jeralt wasn’t destined to die on that day, TWSITD made it so that it happened even with Byleth using the Divine Pulse to try and avert it. Dorothea brings up fate and blaming Sothis for the war, but then there’s the reveal about TWSITD, the same group that “bent fate” with regards to Jeralt’s death, were the ones behind the war using Edelgard.

The war happening was fate, sooner or later it would happen due to TWSITD engineering it. They are the architects of fate, the ones behind Fodlan’s problems, and the player is supposed to fight them. With that in mind, Houses can be said to be a game about “defying fate,” with the SS/AM/VW routes being about Byleth opposing them. Flower, on the other hand, has Byleth help them achieve their goals and then later help destroy them. If you take the “path of thorns” as Byleth choosing a harder path, which is actually the Buddhist meaning of the term, in order to take them down whereas the other routes they already achieve this goal and work towards another.

The idea that the outcome is because of Byleth’s decisions in the Eagles routes as reinforced by the Edelgard and Rhea S supports also works on this, but in the process it also undermines Flower. With the BL and GD Houses, Byleth won’t hesitate to oppose Edelgard and TWSITD at the end of White Clouds. In the BE White Clouds, the player must unlock the ability to join Edelgard as Byleth opposes her by default. However, the unlock conditions also explicitly state that they change the story, meaning Silver Snow isn’t just the default but it’s the natural progression of events. The player derails this by choosing the options that Byleth wouldn’t choose indicating that Byleth is acting out of character which in turn is backed up by the devs saying they created Fodlan to support Silver Snow’s story. Flower happens not because of Byleth’s decision but by that of the player, treating Byleth as merely an empty shell for them to experience Fodlan with. Because if it was Byleth’s call, they wouldn’t be supporting Edelgard and working with TWSITD after everything that has happened.

In Flower, the player goes along with the fate for Fodlan designed by TWSITD.
