Ford still can't seem to wrap his head around this moment. It feels to soft, too normal, but he manages to drag the words out from wherever they're stashed in him to stutter out,  “You don't have to, Stanley, honestly it's my own mess-” “Quit it Poindexter, it's just the dishes.”  Ford's mouth clicks closed, and he turns the sink on again.
— Chapter 10 of AME
And then Ford promptly made his foot and mouth very, very well acquainted at a frankly astonishing speed
@aroace-get-out-of-my-face this entire sequence ripped my heart out and rearranged my guts so. You know. I had to.

Former Tesla (TSLA.O) officials who oversaw the automaker’s diversity, equity and inclusion office say they regret not standing up to billionaire CEO Elon Musk. Now, they want U.S. federal workers to take heed and fight back against Musk’s sweeping federal spending and personnel cuts.
Kristen Kavanaugh and Mike Randolph, speaking in a Reuters interview, said their experiences at Tesla prompted them to write a new book, “Courage over Fear,” which they described as a guide for navigating the “fear-based leadership” that they say they encountered at Musk’s company and that increasingly characterizes other U.S. corporations and government.
“I was scared - of him, of being fired, of being humiliated. I felt like I had too much to lose to speak up, no matter how strongly I disagreed with what I saw from him,” she said. That realization inspired the pair of five-year Tesla veterans to write their book, they said
- -
This can be a tough thing to learn to do. (Which I suppose is why they saw a need for a book.) With that said, it’s clearly essential for dealing with either Musk or Trump. Acceptance of abuse leads to more abuse.
For those of us who aren’t government employees, it’s worth noting they are operating on elementary school playground rules. Give them your lunch money and you’ll be giving it to them every day. Stand up to them and they’ll often move along. Harvard & Columbia Universities showed us these two different approaches in action. The Trump Administration even tried to pretend the memo to Harvard was sent by mistake.

The process of creating is the active, constant question of the self, to question the extent of my capacities to convey a message worth of people's respect and admiration. To me, Look Back is a tale of self-reafirmation for Tatsuki Fujimoto. I'm aware it came out in the gap between part 1 and part 2 of the author's best seller, Chainsaw man, which makes this oneshot such an intimate soul-shaking story after what may be the pinnacle of his career. This made me question, why would he write this kind of story after CSM (and Fire Punch) anyways?
Through Fujino and Kyomoto's journey (which funnily, their names convined are Fuji-moto) we are put in the shoes of the stirring yet self-doubting mind of the creator: "why do you draw manga? why do you create?" is the question the protagonist has to find the answer for. Fujino navigate her life for her passion and pride as a talented story-teller artist, while Kyomoto does so for her love for art itself in a more reserved and personal way. Combined, I think they are the rope that pushes Fujimoto back and forth in his mind, the fear of the creator to tell a story worth of people's respect (Fujino) while being faithful to oneself (Kyomoto). Fujimoto knows there always will be an expectation, a mark above his head everytime someone is aware a new story has his signature, so it's understandable for anxiety to take the worst of you, the fear to be openly judged by the masses. So why do you even bother to get through that unpleasant thing? will I ever surpass what I made in my past projects? why do I keep creating? is this all I will ever be? the entire process is tiresome, boring, a never-ending task, I enjoy art better as a consumer anyways, so why?
Tumblr media
If there's only one person who my art made their day better, made them smile or excited for what is coming next, then it was worth every single second I spend working on it.
It's a reafirmation to keep going. That I was born to live into this world for this sake, and I'm worthy to connect and receive this love. This is my place.
I deeply respect you for it, Tatsuki Fujimoto.

Don’t get caught up in the fear of failure and insecurities. You must become a solid person within. Let nothing come in a shake you. Stay centered. Face this reality with optimism, persistence and courage. Never quit and move as if you’ve already won.

is it an unpopular opinion to get super frustrated when ppl say that “yeah bob isn’t innocent, but johnny isn’t either!!! johnny killed a kid!!!” yeah he did brother OUT OF SELF DEFENSE!!!!! we both know damn well if johnny hadn’t done something that pony (and possibly also johnny to get rid of all the evidence/witnesses!!!) WOULD have died, and that the socs would’ve somehow still twisted it onto pony and johnny that they deserved it, or would’ve easily just said they weren’t even there in the first place!!! nobody would’ve known!! the cops would say it could’ve been a suicide/s!!! like the justice system does not EXIST for kids like them!!! in terms of bobs death, johnny IS innocent. obstruction of justice is a whole other thing which yeah he probably shouldn’t have done but might i remind you this is also a traumatized child who’s brain has likely developed unlike most kids his age due to continuous abuse and trauma, even unlike most of his closest greaser peers, and he’s highly likely mentally not even able to make as sound of decisions in the same way most people his age could/should be able to, hence the stabbing in the first place, hence obstructing justice bc that’s what he’s been told to do and surely dally wouldn’t steer him wrong. nobody should’ve died, but there’s just no shot a drunk dude possibly killing/trying to kill a kid several years younger than him for no reason besides he was “having fun” doing it in any universe is at ALL equal to johnny killing a violent abuser in self defense 🫡
might i also add that being charged with manslaughter and not being absolved in self defense could’ve very easily been a reflection of biased justice systems, especially if ur talking musical johnny who’s canonically black & indigenous, two of the most disproportionately and unjustly incarcerated communities of ppl in north america. these systems are literally purposely built against kids who look like johnny, nevermindddd against people in his socioeconomic bracket who live in as poor of conditions as he does. even if he HAD stayed and turned himself in immediately, darrel and soda are told pony (and subsequently johnny) “could get murder one” in the show. like that is quite literally just not how that works, but literally what is a poor kid gonna do against a biased, possibly racist judge? like that’s the justice system for u today!!! nevermind how much worse it’d be 60 years ago!!!!

i know it's been said before, and for like seventy years, but frodo's despair is so important to me
i mean, this is the main character of the story; this is the hero who is making the impossible journey to save the world
and it destroys him
carrying the burden absolutely saps frodo of the will to live at several points and it's only sam's presence that pulls him back from the edge and in the end even that isn't enough
frodo fails - because frodo gives up - because the burden was too much, the quest was always impossible and in the end he sees that
but it's the kindness and pity that he showed earlier, it's the fact that he tried as hard and for as long as he did, that the quest succeeds in spite of his giving in to despair
and it's heartbreaking that he never really goes back to the shire, that he stays trapped in that quest even after it's finished, but there's hope for him to heal in the undying lands, a reward well-deserved - even though he collapsed at the end
idk, the fact that the savior of middle-earth actually succumbed to despair in the end is really important to me, and of course to the story itself - it would not be lord of the rings if frodo had been able to throw the ring into the fires of mount doom
the entire theme of lord of the rings is hope-versus-despair and the fact that sometimes despair wins is embedded into the story - as is the fact that no the fuck it doesn't, that even when despair takes over, there is always always always hope, and the mere act of trying, of doing as much as you can for as long as you can, is enough to do the impossible, sometimes in spite of yourself
and that's beautiful, and inspiring, and enduring

Life’s filled with fear-inducing situations: fear of sickness, unemployment, rejection. Left unchecked, fear will steal your inner peace.
“David met fear head-on with two questions. ‘Whom shall I dread? Whom shall I fear? Psalm 27:1
David then declared: The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I dread?
Let your heart take courage. Courage isn’t limited to the battlefield…Its real tests are broader, like remaining faithful when nobody’s looking, enduring painful situations when nobody is around to help, standing alone when you’re misunderstood…God says, “Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you!” (Joshua 1:9) He will never fail you.
