Part of the reason why TSCIR is so funny is because it's primarily from Yoojin's POV. Meaning that we are privy to his thought process, so everything seems like it makes sense.

Like "Ah I'm about to kill these people so they won't be able to tell anyone what I say, perfect opportunity to get some stuff about regression off my chest!"

Or "Hmm I just got kidnapped, and two born s-classes are fighting below me eradicating the landscape while I'm riding a dragon... perfect time for some cheesecake!"

And "Oh they're kidnapping me? Perfect, lets use this chance to steal everything of value and then blow this joint sky high!"

Or maybe "They accuse my brother of violence? MY BROTHER? No. I'll show you VIOLENCE. If you're gonna do it do it RIGHT." And uses a dragon to smash their shit.

And while you're in his POV, it's like of course. Why wouldn't you. Take this perfectly logical course of action.

And it's only when you take a step back and consider that you realise that there is literally no one else in the world who would react this way.

Out of all the changes to the world they must witness, I keep returning to this one and what it represents. Just an understated bit of horror for thousands. While they labored in caverns and mines in the thrall of their enemy, everything changed and shifted around them. Even the name and cultural understanding of the monster that brought them here has morphed into something almost unrecognizable.

I will kick a hornet's nest this morning but it's incredibly funny (read: weird) that whenever someone makes a joke about Sinclair's egg icon and references headcanoning him as transfem theres like 5 different people crawling out of the dirt to be like "um ACTUALLY that's a reductive reading and the egg doesn't signify a trans thing but if it did he would be transmasc btw" LIKE. What's the difference there. You can just say you have a different headcanon you can even say you personally dont agree with it without acting weird and trying to school trans women. Anyway.

The way Harry asked Lucy if she liked his apartment when they were in bed together- so, so cute. And him making her breakfast and getting her passport. It was all just so sweet. It did feel very weird to me when he admitted he didn't think he could offer her love. From the way he talked about it, it sounded like he wanted to but felt foolish or maybe he'd never tried. Maybe because the world they both lived in prioritized "high value" and investments? That conversation they had at the last restaurant was a doozy. But I don't know if Lucy would have stayed with him even if he did say he loved her, or would try. I think she saw John again and it reminded her of the love she wanted and already had.

Fuck it, tumblr can have the pureshadow flash fic I blasted my qpp with, fic below cut

Torments my boy by typing for 12 minutes. Fic is small and a bit angsty; contains self-use of it/its implied as a dehumanizing tactic. I also just like he/it/they Smilk but I think it's fun to think of how he thinks of himself. I've also not gotten to Beast Yeast yet I'm just insane about them.

"..I do not quite...understand."

His voice is as soft as always. So gentle. Undeservingly kind. Perhaps this is why he was so loved. No matter the truth he'd speak, he would say it in that voice, with an innocence belying his age.

He looks at it with that innocence. Eyes closed, lashes dainty against his cheeks, and after silence presses on, he opens them, perplexed.

They do not see what is there.

Not merely due to their inability; it is close enough that he could surely count crumbs on its face. But he has always been one to see the light where there was none.

"Shadow Milk Cookie." Its name falls from his tongue like the heaviest of truths, yet wrapped in the levity of the lie it knows it to be. Nobody remembers the truth, after all.

It made sure of that.

It scoffs. Rolls its eyes at him. Sticks out its tongue. Plays flippant.

"Oh, precious silly cookie," it lets words flow like syrup, sickly saccharine and suffocating in their false warmth, "what's there not to get?~"

"Why it is that you've not yet crumbled me."

Why?

It has no answer. It stares at him, face frozen in the grin it donned. Why not? Why not? What did he mean? What was it to say?

"You want the souljam," he says, and those words are true. It thinks so, at least. "But yet you refuse to simply take it from me. What motivates this game of yours?"

"Fun!~" It cheers before it allows itself to dare think. "You're just terribly adorable when you scream and wail for help, don't you know?"

"...You're not telling the truth."

"Duh!" The scoff comes out with dismissive force. "Why would I, silly Vanilly?"

It doesn't like how he looks at it. It doesn't like it. It doesn't like it it doesn't like it it doesn't like it it doesn't it doesn't IT DOESN'T--

Why doesn't it?

What is the truth?

Why hasn't it crumbled him?

It has been silent too long. It has stared into his eyes too long. It detests that kind, weary, familiar smile on his face. It despises his pity.

"...I don't need you to look at me like that," it spits, turning on its heel and fleeing. It will come back. It has to.
