I must say honestly that I haven't drawn in years, but I felt the need to reflect this through drawing and not in writing because it would be too short that it would even be laughable. So after a little effort and trying to remember how to properly hold a pencil to draw, I managed to make some very simple drawings. This idea occurred to me a long time ago during Endwalker when they first started Custom Deliveries for Ameliance, I just couldn't find the time to do it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I must mention that the Leveilleur twins are my favorite characters.

1) Not 100% sure because I've only started thinking about picking voice claim recently, but it might be Rapunzel from tangled. She and Vera have very similar energy. And kinda look alike, although that wasn't intentional.

5) I ship Vera with G'raha. I love that cat boy too much, I couldn't not. They're both sweeties, constantly trying each other to take care of themselves while ignoring their own needs. One of my recent wips is of their first kiss, right before he turns to crystal.

10) With toxic positivity! She had a bit of a breakdown after The Vault, and decided she can't allow herself to do that again. Not where anyone can see her at any rate. She will wear the strong confident hero mask even if all she wants to do is curl into one of her loved ones and sob. (It does not help that most of the time the person around who she's closest too is one of the twins. They are Babies and she will Not burden them like that.) Bonus points if she can do 500 side quests in a day so he doesn't have the time or energy to be alone with her thoughts!

14) Oh god I have been thinking about this one. At first Fandaniel came to mind for being obnoxious and insane, but no. It's not him.

It's Fourchenault.

That dumb ass made her baby siblings cry and she has not forgiven him. It does not matter that his cruelty was motivated by love. It does not matter that she adores the rest of the family and they have all forgiven him. She will put up with him for their sake, but she is always watching him. If he upsets the twins again she WILL deck him. She has told him this. So far he's been on his best behavior.

My brain supplied "Alphinaud making a replica of Sharlayan in minecraft" and then immediately followed it up with "Fourchenault got investigated by the forum for leaking state secrets because Alphinaud made some very, very educated guesses."

tdlr they're someone who thinks the game sucks past 3.3 and i just. I loved Heavensward too! it can be your favorite! but the story has moved forward from Heavensward! if you hate THAT much of the story, and one of its most important characters, and most important plot points (the consequences of the acient's actions), then maybe. uh. play another game lol.

I actually don't participate much in the ME fandom, having had my mettle tested in swtor and dragon age fandoms; but i refuse to hear any complaints about Kaidan. He is a GOOD LAD and he was CORRECT in ME2 and his romance IS GOOD and he's such a great example of nontoxic masculinity like hi. mans went to therapy before the series even started. perfect man. do not @ me

@tobyfoxmademeascaly Oh, oh, I can help with that! It's actually a bit of both, combined with a bit of @clockworkdragonffxiv 's answer! Technically, they are legally of age in Sharlayan (albeit juuust barely, as of ARR,) but also? Whilst normally, the Sharlayan version of congress/parliament is hell-bent on preventing Sharlayan knowledge from making it's way out into the world, (and in some cases, will even try to kill people over it,) but the Leveilleur name carries such HUGE weight, for a number of reasons, including them likely being richer than Marcus Licinius Crassus. As such, even after their bastard father decides to [redacted], they're still mostly left unbothered.

One of my favorite trends in liveblogs of this game is just how many people automatically assume the twins are Plucky Orphans (because how else would they be able to have world adventures) and get blindsided by either alisaie mentioning their dad in stormblood or if they get all the way to the shadowbringers patches and meet the bastard firsthand. And it turns out the REAL answer as to why theyre having Adventures is just that their parents legally cannot stop them.

Hythlodaeus probably had something to do with this. And probably Azem too. Actually he wouldn't even question it if Venat was involved.

Scary movie? He doesn't watch scary movies! Just because he's lugged around by Hythlodaeus and Azem to go see them, doesn't mean he likes them. But if he had to choose, Nightmare on Elm Street is alright. Wait a second. This seemed familiar. He'd throw his Link Pearl to the ground and crush it under his foot.

He would be confused about how someone random got a hold of his Link Pearl contact. It was just for work and friends. Perhaps it was just a prank. If so, why did it unnerve him so. He could tell that something wasn't right. He would have to keep his wits about him and his eyes peeled for any sudden moment.

Fandaniel

He would be the one calling. It was way more fun that way! He loved the reactions of those who were easily scared. But if he got the call, he would be delighted. A deadly game? If he wins, can he be the second Ghostface? Who is the target? The Warrior of Light?

Fourchenault

He would have no time for such childish nonsense. He wouldn't hear any further word from this mysterious caller. He'd simply get rid of the link pearl and get a new one. Honestly, who goes around calling people to scare them? Surely that wasn't a shadow or figure he saw in the corner of his eye, right? Of course not. This movie nonsense was getting to his head.

Hythlodaeus

He would definately be scared especially after he'd watched the movie with Emet-Selch, Venat & Azem. Was he going to be the next target? He would make sure to find Emet-Selch right away so that way he wouldn't be alone. To be honest, he would have thrown out his link pearl immediately.

Venat

She would be so curious about this "mysterious caller" since she's already seen the movie that they were based on. She certainly didn't think she was in any mortal danger. So naturally she'd simply humor the caller.

"I've got a long list of favorites if you'd be so inclined to hear."

". . ."

She would be disappointed when she hears the dial tone. Too bad. Her list was good. She might as well go an tell Emet-Selch her long list instead.

Gotta say, I love FFXIV's dedication to making its main straight couples just straight-up parodies of stereotypical hetero relationships.

The Chais seem at first like "Fat, stupid, overbearing wife and her whipped, henpecked husband who regrets marrying her" , but once you get to know them you realize they really do love each other, Chai-Nuzz is just like, depressed and has no self-esteem, and when Dulia-Chai "pushes" him to something, it's because she knows him well enough to know he wants to do or say something, but isn't letting himself. Also the only comment he ever makes about her being fat is that she is just as beautiful as when they first met. Dulia's "stupidity" is also portrayed as her being ill-suited to the sort of situations she's put in early on, but she has her own strengths and moments to shine, and her simple view of the world inspires the solution to a massive problem.

And then the Leveilleurs are "strict, paternalistic, cold authority figure and his inexplicably kind housewife", but Forchenault really does have a heart, and is just under so much fucking stress all the time, and he tries his best to make up for the incredibly cliche "bad father" situations he gets put in by the literal coming of the apocalypse, and Ameliance is like, a clever, slightly ruthless mastermind who is really genuinely into Forchenault's "stubborn old goat" thing. She talks about her husband like some girls on here talk about like, Saul fucking Goodman.

One of my favorite bits of ffxiv's worldbuilding is just... how many people who are supposed to be clever entirely miss the fact that dragons are people.

And this, despite the Ishgardians constantly declaring that the dragons have spies everywhere. (Although in fairness to everyone, I also just immediately discounted 99% of everything the Ishgardians said regarding dragons before Heavensward. And I still do, let's be real.)

Like, Cid, my friend, my dude, remember how we had to fight our way through a fortress being defended by dragons that one time to get your airship back? I will give you a slight pass for still being in a really bad mental state, but come on, man.

But my favorite instance of this: Sharlayan.

They're doing all this secret planning to take stuff to the moon. They had a colony in Dravania. Wouldn't it have been, maybe, a good idea to have some dragons to move stuff and carry messages back and forth? No? Forchenault walks into the middle of Radz-at-Han demanding to talk to the satrap, directly into a crowd of people standing around a fucking great wyrm, and doesn't notice the dragon. It never occurred to him that the presence of a dragon in the middle of the city could be relevant to his interests at all. And people keep telling me this man is a genius.

Finally Finished Endwalker

Thoughts are below the cut. They WILL contain spoilers.

The most I can give this expansion is an OK. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great, it was OK.

There were a *lot* of pacing issues. At the start, it felt like we were ZOOMING through Sharlayan and Thavnair. But the moment we get to Garlemald it screeches to a slow crawl. Then picks up again once you get back to Thavnair for the 2nd time. And once you leave there, it’s a crawl again. A lot of bits felt as though they were used to artificially lengthen the play time and gave little to no substance otherwise. (Looking at you, Loporrits.)

I felt very disconnected from the story. I feel like they waited too long to hit with the emotional punches and that there was never any REAL sense of urgency, like you might fail, or as though you’d lose your companions for good. At the last zone, when all your companions began sacrificing themselves, it felt very ho-hum. (With the exception for me of G’raha and the twins.) Because you knew, even without knowing, that they were going to come back. They set it up blatantly for it. And I felt like summoning them back BEFORE the final boss kind of cheapened things a little.

Some scenes, like the one where Zenos takes over your body, felt very pointless. What was the point of it? Nothing came of it, he didn’t do anything, you get your body back and he never tries again. It certainly FELT like they were going somewhere with it and then pulled back at the last moment. 

There were some points where there could have been a more powerful impact, but they moved on too quickly for you to really absorb it or were ruined by bits of filler. 

The end boss felt very much like a rehash of Sephiroth from FF&, complete with, “Shall I give you Dis Pear?!” And while I could very much feel sympathy and even somewhat invested in some of the civilizations they brought into play, the whole, “We achieved what we set out to achieve, so now I just want to die” was pretty bleh. 

And Zenos popping up every 5 minutes with, “Fite me bro 1v1 irl” got old fast. (Tho I have to say riding his back as Shinryu was pretty kickass.)

That all being said, there were some things I felt were wonderfully executed. 

I thought all the new zones were absolutely beautiful and well mapped out. I wanted to roll my eyes at the inclusion of Ascians, Emet-Selch, and the world Unsundered, But the way it was included didn’t feel forced, felt more organic than some other parts, and it was a nice way to see what the world was like before the sundering. 

I liked that the prediction I had about Forchenault and the Forum was more or less spot on. And seeing him finally admit his plans, what they were for, and why he was doing it, was genuinely one of the more emotional parts for me.

The call backs to previous questlines--either MSQ or sidequests--and older characters that were no more than footnotes in my mind was a nice touch. Seeing a different side of Garlemald--the civilians and soldiers who were just doing their duty and trying to live their life as best they could and the only way they knew how. Seeing them finally admit that what they were wasn’t what they should have been. 

Vrtra was an amazing additon and I like seeing a Dragon in a different position that we’ve seen thus far. And seeing one with such a disposition that there truly feels like there’s no difference between them and men. 

I do believe that Ishikawa did the best she could with the pieces she’d been given. There were certainly choices made before she took over that should not have been. (Looking at you Zenos.) But she took them and made something of them that I don’t think other writers would have been able to do. And Soken, like always, is a musical genius.

I certainly don’t feel this expansion lives up to the hype, or its predecessor (Shadowbringers) but it wasn’t *bad*. I look forward to seeing what Ishikawa and the rest of the FFXIV team brings in the future. 

(Though for fuck sake, that epilogue. I just want to be DONE with Ascians, thank you very much.)

Also, please bear in mind that these are JUST my opinions. They’re not fact. They’re how *I* feel about the expansion. If you feel differently or enjoyed it more than I did, by no means are you wrong, or wrong for enjoying it so much. This is just my take and feelings on the matter.
