the smoke was dense and thick, making it almost impossible to see within five feet. the smell of sulfur and concrete filled the nostrils of the ‘new avengers’.

new york has seen yet another attack, this time by another outer space alien thingy that bucky couldn’t remember.

there’s a dreadful silence between the group, all stuck in their own minds, trying to figure out just what went wrong. how they got defeated so quickly.

he stood with his hands on his hips, trying to regain his breath after being slammed into a plethora of floors from one of the skyscrapers.

ava hunched over holding her midsection while also trying to catch her breath. yelena, leaning against a fallen slab of a building while clenching her arm. walker, somewhere else, blowing off steam as his shield was snapped in half, and alexei going on some sort of rant.

“it’s fine, this is fine” the broody older man speaks, his thick accent grating against buckys ears. “everybody get up!” the red guardian claps, trying to pump up the group. “we are the thunderbolts!!!”

yelena rolls her eyes, keeping a hand pressed on her arm, “dad, stop”. she looks at the man with sharp eyes. they say optimism is good to have on a team, but alexei had too much. it often got annoying.

turning a corner, walker, stuffing something in his suit pocket, looks to the others. “we’ve been compromised.”

ava stands, crossing her arms. “what?” she looks between bucky and yelena, who have the same look on their face. it isn’t dread, it isn’t worry, it’s something much worse.

alexei mutters some swear words in russian under his breath. and for a moment, no one knows what to do. they aren’t a team, they have no backup, and bucky knows that sam won’t help him.

yet again, he’s alone.

“well, what now?” ava asks, her attention trained on the white widow. “ah!” alexei holds up his fingers, then snaps, carrying a proud look on his face. “a safe house!”

everyone pauses, stealing glances at each other with a blank expression. clearly growing tired of the red guardians persona. “oh, you’ve got to be kidding me..” ava exasperates, before taking a few steps away from the group.

bucky contemplates for a moment, hes staring off at the gray rubble beneath his black boots. he only had a handful of options, one of those being sam. as he was not on the best terms with sam, he figured his last option would suffice. you.

“i know a place.”

the sun was just rising, its misty rays barely peeking through the thick fog. the air was cool and damp, the ground beneath covered with an early morning dew. a cabin tucked away amidst the trees stood silent and still, as if waiting to welcome the day.

the trees surrounding the cabin were barely visible through the dense fog, their leaves shimmering with dewdrops like tiny jewels on their green surfaces. the air was silent, save for the soft sound of the nearby river.

stepping off the quinjet, bucky stopped at the edge of the ramp, looking at his home he shared with you. he felt happy to be back home, but a part of him dreaded the following events.

bucky knew he was risking everything by bringing the others to his home, to you. someone who bucky made sure to keep hidden from everyone. he didn’t do it because he was ashamed or didn’t love you, but he did it because he loved you so much. it was better to keep you off file and off record, for your safety.

if anything happened to you, bucky would’ve surely lost his mind.

“why the hell are we at a cabin, bucky?” walker quips, following the other super soldier. “we can’t go on vacation now.”

“shut up, walker,” bucky snaps, shooting a glaring look over his shoulder as he waits for the rest of the others to fall in behind him. “what are we doing here? we clearly need a safe house,” yelena chimes in, ava and alexei adding something under their breaths.

bucky can already feel himself getting agitated with the anti-heroes. it’s hard enough working with people that collectively cannot get along, it was doomed from the veining. “it’s safe, just trust me.”

crossing the threshold of the dark oak cabin, the scent of fresh laundry mixed with mahogany, vanilla, and cashmere filled his nostrils, and in an instant, the tension in his shoulders dropped.

home. the living room was cleaned, and a few blankets on the leather sofa. you must've napped. a few records scattered around the record table, one still on the turntable, but the record had stopped playing long ago.

“baby? i’m home!” he calls out, not seeing any sign of your presence as he steps into the living room. it’s quiet, almost too quiet. bucky steps further in. “baby doll?”

the team steps in hesitantly, their hands hovering over whatever they have to defend themselves with. sharing puzzled glances with each other as bucky calls out to you.

you emerge from the stairway with a laundry basket on your hip. a quiet gasp gets caught in your throat as your eyes look past your boyfriend and see his co-workers. “what the..” you mutter, your eyes finally landing on bucky. “bucky?”

“we had nowhere else to go,” he explains, the wear and tear of fighting visible on his body. his eyes hold even more exhaustion than he let on.

you drop the laundry basket on the sofa and approach him, he hopes his arms and pulls you in, pressing a kiss on the top of your head.

yelena interrupts, “Im sorry..” the blonde holds out her hands, nose crunching with confusion. “what the hell is happening here?”

“yeah..what the hell is this?” walker stands behind yelena, his arms crossed now.

“guys, meet my girlfriend, y/n,” he introduced, holding you by his side. his thumb rubbing up and down your shoulders.

“hi..” you smile, holding up your hand to wave awkwardly. your freehand wrapping around buckys midsection.

the team is left speechless, all mouths are open, but no words are formed.

“girlfriend?!” yelena is flabbergasted, her eyes almost popping out of her head.

“oh! this is wonderful!! alexei is pushing past the other three, walking towards you with a big, dopey smile. “young love!” he cheered, clapping loudly.

you laugh awkwardly, again, because what do you do when the avengers are standing in your house?

“buck?” you look up at him, he had a less than amused look on his face.

“we just need some place to lay low, get patched up. i didn’t know what else to do.”

You know how much of a stickler for rules your boyfriend is. After all, somebody needs to apply the rules set out by the bureau, and who better than the unit chief himself. Aaron’s adherence to protocol is unwavering in most situations, and you expect him to carry that discipline into your shared hotel room as well.  

That’s why you don’t expect much beyond your usual routine when you’ve shared a room with Aaron before you got together. A quiet evening spent reviewing case files, a few exchanged words about leads, and maybe, if you’re lucky, he’ll come to bed early enough for you to be awake when he holds you—a new addition to the aforementioned routine. So, imagine your surprise when he doesn’t immediately reach for the files. Instead, he watches as you set your go-bag on a chair nearby the bed from the other side of the room.  

“Are you okay?” you ask, turning to face him fully. 

Aaron doesn’t answer right away. Instead, he steps forward, closing the distance between you with a deliberate slowness that you can’t quite place. His hands, always so careful, so measured, find your waist, his touch firm yet uncharacteristically hesitant. 

“We're alone,” he says, it’s more of a statement, really. But his voice is lower than usual and rough around the edges. 

His words send a shiver down your spine, not just from their meaning but from the way he says them—like he’s surrendering to his feelings and letting go of his principles for a moment. You nod, resting your hands lightly against his chest. “Yeah. Just us.” 

Aaron exhales, his grip tightening slightly, like he needs the confirmation, and you can see the mask he’s been wearing all day slipping as his eyes soften around the edges, focused on you. “Just the two of us.”  

“Well, yeah,” you chuckle, “that’s what usually happens when two people are alone, Aaron.” 

His fingers skim along your waist before settling against your lower back, pulling you just a fraction closer. “Such a smart mouth, honey.” He tuts, pulling a gasp from your lips, as he turns you towards himself. You can feel his hand moving across your spine, leaving shivers in their wake. “You love to talk back, don’t you?” 

You bite your lip, trying to suppress the smirk tugging at the corners of your mouth. You’re hyperaware of the way his body is pressed up to yours, and there is nothing more you want to do than just push that damned jacket off his shoulders, but your boyfriend is a patient man—and you have to play his game. “You know I do,” you say, your voice a little breathless, a little too eager for your own liking, but you can see in Aaron’s eyes how much he appreciates that.  

“You are right, I do.” The chuckle that comes from him is rare, given the fact that you are on a case and not at his house or your own, but the sound makes you smile up at him lazily. He lets you eventually push his suit jacket off his shoulders, helping you along the way by undoing his tie and throwing it at a random direction along with the jacket. “And I think we should take advantage of being alone.”  

You yelp as he moves swiftly, his hands firm as they grip your waist and pushes you onto the bed, and a playful smirk widens on your lips as you raise yourself up on your elbows to take a good look at him. “Wow, you really are loosening up, huh?” 

“What, you don’t think I can ‘let loose’?” he quips, arching an eyebrow as he leans over you. His hands press into the mattress on either side of you, caging you in without actually holding you down—not yet, at least. 

You let out a breathy chuckle, tilting your head. “Oh no, I know you can let loose. I’m just wondering if you know you can let loose.” Your hands come up between your bodies to start working on his shirt, “I think you’ll have a lot more fun if we can just lose a few layers.” 

Aaron lets out a quiet hum, the ghost of a smirk playing at the edges of his lips as he watches your fingers work their way down his buttons. He doesn’t stop you, but he doesn’t rush you either—always patient, always in control. “Let me show you just how much I can let loose, honey,” he murmurs, voice low and warm, sending another shiver down your spine. 

Your fingers pause for just a moment, but they continue their movements after a little while. “Oh?” you muse, lifting an eyebrow as you work open the last button, pushing the fabric aside to splay your hands over his chest. “You gonna do something about that, Agent?” 

Aaron chuckles, the sound low and knowing, before his hands slide down your sides, fingers dipping beneath the hem of your blouse. “I think the situation warrants it.” There’s no hesitation as he tugs the fabric upward, his touch warm against your skin. You lift your arms, letting him peel the layer away, and before you can say anything else, his lips are on yours.  

His kiss doesn’t feel rushed, no, but it definitely succeeds in stealing every ounce of breath from your lungs. With everything he does, Aaron’s ambitious. He’s kissing you breathless soon, and his tongue opens you up in ways no man other than him could do in the past. He drags his lips down your throat, going past your collarbone down to your chest. A breaty laugh leaves your lips as Aaron playfully nips at the top of one of your breasts. His playful mood, however, doesn’t last long—as he has you pinned down onto the bed whilst his tongue is hungrily lapping at your center. You’re not entirely sure how and when he managed to get your pants and underwear off, though you remember him faintly telling you to raise your hips up for him. None of that matters, though, as he has his arms wrapped around your legs, his palm pressing on your stomach to keep you down as he eats you out like a man starved.  

“Aaron—” You try to warn him, but the way your release washes over you doesn’t need warning at all. You can distantly hear him talking you through your orgasm with soft spoken praises, pressing kisses to the exposed skin of your legs and thighs. When your shaking stops eventually, Aaron presses one last lingering kiss to the inside of your thigh before lifting his head. His lips are slightly swollen, his breath steady but deep, and his eyes—God, his eyes—are dark with satisfaction as he watches you catch yours. 

“You okay?” he asks, voice warm and laced with something undeniably smug. 

You let out a breathy laugh, still sprawled out beneath him, your limbs pleasantly heavy. “You ask me that after—” You cut yourself off with a shake of your head, a lazy smirk tugging at your lips. “Yeah, I’m okay. More than okay.” 

Aaron chuckles, brushing his lips over your knee before shifting up the bed, settling himself over you. His weight is oddly comforting, and when his hand drags slowly up your side, it sends another shiver through you. 

But you’re not done with him—not by a long shot. 

Your fingers trail down his chest, nails scraping lightly against his skin before dipping lower, teasing at the waistband of his slacks. “Your turn,” you murmur, looking up at him through heavy-lidded eyes. 

Aaron hums, dipping his head to press a slow, deliberate kiss to your jaw. “I should refuse and let you get some sleep, you know.” 

“No,” you object, though it comes off more as a whine which makes his smirk widen.  

“No?” He asks, lips trailing down your jaw to your neck. “It is the responsible thing to do.”  

“No,” you repeat, this time with more confidence, your hands working deftly to unbutton his slacks. “You’re going to give me what I want.” 

Aaron exhales a quiet chuckle against your skin, his breath hot as his lips brush over your pulse point. “Demanding, aren’t we?” he murmurs, but there’s no real protest in his tone—only amusement, only heat. 

Your fingers push past the waistband of his slacks, wrapping around him in a way that has his entire frame tensing above you. The sound he makes, low, guttural, sends another wave of warmth straight through you, and you grin, reveling in the way his self-control visibly frays at the edges. “You love it,” you whisper, pressing a kiss just beneath his jaw, your hand working him over in slow, deliberate strokes. “You love when I push you—when I challenge you.” 

Aaron’s breath hitches, and then, in an instant, he has you pinned again, flipping you on the mattress with ease. His eyes are dark, his control hanging by a thread as he hovers over you. “You,” he says, voice rough, “are going to be the death of me.” 

You smirk, pushing your hips towards him as much as you can, pushing just enough to earn another low groan. “Then you better fuck me before that happens.” 

And just like that, whatever restraint he had left snaps. 

His hands are everywhere—gripping your thighs, your waist, your wrists, holding you still and pulling you apart all at once. His lips are everywhere, the way he presses you onto the mattress is enough to swallow your gasp as he presses himself against you, letting you feel every inch of how much he wants you. 

“Aaron,” you breathe, arching beneath him, needing him closer, needing more. 

His forehead rests against yours, his breath ragged, his control stretched to its limit. “Tell me,” he rasps, his voice nothing but heat and longing. “Fuck, I know I should get you more ready so it doesn’t hurt but tell me you need this.” 

You don’t hesitate. “I need you.” You don’t even have the time to consider whether you sound needier than you’d like to let on, “I don’t care if it hurts, I like it when it hurts, Aaron.” 

With your words, his last strand of self-restraint snaps. As he enters you from behind, his movements are slow and calculated. The way his movements quicken takes your breath away, with each thrust of his hips, you know that there’s no slowing down now—only the sharp rhythm of his movements as he pushes deeper, his body a heavy weight above yours. He groans softly at the feel of you, the feeling pushing him further toward the edge of his control. His hands grip your hips firmly, pulling you up as he picks up the pace, his movements growing more urgent as you match him, pulling him deeper into you.  

  “Aaron,” you gasp, breathless, your hands gripping the sheets beneath you, your body moving with his in a rhythm that’s as natural as breathing. 

His voice is low and strained as he speaks your name, the sound that vibrates through your chest. “You feel so fucking good,” he mutters between kisses, his lips trailing across your neck, your shoulder, anywhere he can reach, as though he can't get enough of you. “I thought you liked the pain.” 

Your heart is racing, your breath shallow, as you feel his words reverberate against your skin. There's something intoxicating about the roughness in his tone, about the way he can lose himself in you so completely, and it drives you wild. “I do,” you whisper, the words escaping in a soft, needy sigh as his hips meet yours with a satisfying, deep thrust. “I like it when you push me… when you take control.” 

Aaron growls, his grip tightening on your hips, and you know he’s beyond caring about anything but the two of you in this moment. His movements are frantic now, his body driving into you with the force of everything he’s been holding back, and you meet him every step of the way, pulling him closer, urging him deeper. 

His breath is hot against your shoulder, ragged and desperate, and the way he groans your name sends a delicious shiver down your spine. “You take me so well,” he rasps, his hands sliding up your back, fingers digging into your skin. “Can you feel how good you take me?”

You nod frantically, your body trembling in his hold. “Yes—Aaron, please—” 

“That’s it, sweetheart,” he murmurs, pressing an open-mouthed kiss to your jaw. “Let go for me.” And you do—your body shattering around him, pleasure crashing over you so fiercely that all you can do is hold onto him as he coaxes you through it. Aaron follows moments later, his grip tightening, his body pressing you against the mattress as he finds his own release, spilling into you with a low, satisfied groan. 

For a while, neither of you move, your bodies tangled together, his weight a comforting presence above you. 

Eventually, he shifts, pressing a soft kiss to the back of your shoulder before rolling onto his side and pulling you with him. “You okay?” he murmurs, brushing damp hair away from your face.

This is going to be pretty unkind but watching tumblr users interact with staff and live is a great primer on how conspiracy theories happen.

Nobody on this fucking website knows how to read a ToS, nobody on this website knows how anything fucking works (sorry, this is not a dig at you but how would tumblr "get" your data from you clicking or unclicking live; the only data that tumblr has on you is the data that you have put on tumblr what data do people think that clicking the "new" button is scooping up that is anything beyond interactions or posts or IP addresses which are the things that tumblr already has information about like you do not introduce new information into the tumblr ecosystem by clicking a button you haven't installed anything you haven't changed permissions on your browser if everyone is so goddamned scared about live stealing their data i strongly recommend they stop using anything but public internet through an anonymizer and making sure location data is shut off on all of their devices and anyone who is flipping their shit about the type of data that live is collecting but who is using chrome on any device needs to chill the fuck out about live and flip the fuck out about google)

live never violated the GDPR it was just rolled out in the US first but the entire userbase decided that because it hadn't been rolled out simultaneously in the EU and the US that it was SO UNSPEAKABLY PRIVACY VIOLATEY THAT THE EU HAD BANNED IT FOR ITS CRIMES with, like, nothing whatsoever backing that up because, again, even at its most intrusive Live collects about as much data as Twitter or Yelp, both of which are *capable* of meeting GDPR standards with that level of data collection (even if musk sometimes makes decisions that violate GDPR).

Live is significantly less intrusive than any facebook product, than Amazon, and than any Google product. If you use youtube logged in, don't worry about live, the horse is out of the barn and tumblr is the least of your worries *regardless* of live. If you regularly use Google as a search engine please god learn how to evaluate and compare risks across platforms because Live is like a coughing baby compared to about a dozen things that most highly online people interact with every single day.

If you don't want to use live don't use live. Clicking the button doesn't magically transfer your secret FBI file to tumblr and even agreeing to the ToS doesn't share anything that tumblr doesn't already have if you don't continue to interact - if you don't interact with live after agreeing to the ToS it's not collecting any data except your non-interaction.

For everyone who is losing it over Live just turn off your goddamned location on your fucking cellphone and turn off your location on your goddamned computers and that's it, you're good, you're fine, relax. If your response to "turn off your location" is "but I need it for _____" then don't worry about Live, whatever "_____" is was already collecting and selling your data.

Do you use an activity tracker? Congrats, you have much, much bigger privacy issues to worry about than tumblr live.

And if you want my guess as to why staff went "scorched earth" on that post it's probably because if you scroll down to the bottom of the page on the archive, OP calls on everyone looking at the post to send a kind fuck you to the CEO then tagged his tumblr.

If you look at the other posts that went scorched earth in relation to tumblr staff they were also posts that very pointedly directed a lot of ire at a single staff member.

I don't think that any individual tumblr staff members are above criticism and I don't think that staff as a whole is above criticism but part of learning to read a ToS is understanding that someone can be shitty and vague and use TERF talking points and skirt the line and be technically okay under the ToS while someone can have a legitimate gripe about another user being horrible and manage to violate the ToS by accidentally spinning up a harassment campaign or suicide baiting someone.

Shitty people like nazis and terfs thrive on being edge cases. They are very good at finding a boundary and standing juuuuuuuuust on this side of it and going "la la la I'm not violating the ToS, you can't stop me!" and that blows and it leads to a lot of people encountering a lot of shitty stuff on a lot of websites but personally I'm pretty glad that there's a lot of gray area because when you cut out gray area that's when you see things like It's Going Down getting banned as extremist content alongside white supremacists. Please continue to report nazis and terfs, and when possible go deep into their pages to report because a pattern of behavior is more likely to get recognized as hate speech than a single post that gets reported a hundred times. Please block as many people who it's harmful for you to interact with as possible because it's clear that staff is not going to do the kind of work protecting users that users would like staff to do.

However I just can't get angry on behalf of a blogger who got nuked for saying "Hey everyone who hates this feature that we all hate please go tell the CEO to fuck himself at this URL specifically" - that is an extremely clear violation of the ToS because it is absolutely targeted harassment.

So now tumblr-the-userbase is going off on its merry conspiracy way skipping through fields and lacking reading comprehension and saying "users are getting banned for reporting the crimes of tumblr live and its gdpr violations" and ignoring the fact that the post was nuked because the last line was saying "hey everyone, let's all individually tell the CEO to fuck off in messages sent directly to him that are certainly not going to include any threats, exaggerations, gore, etc. etc. etc."

If I were to make a post that had 50k notes and the last line was "and while you're at it, please send tumblr-user-ms-demeanor a personalized message telling them why they're a terrible person so they know what we think of them" it would absolutely be reasonable to say that was harassing that user. And that post did it with the CEO. Who is not above criticism (and I have my criticisms! I don't think he really gets tumblr and that's a problem!), but jesus fucking christ don't tag the goddamned CEO or any other staff member in a call to action asking users to send them messages saying "fuck off" this is literally the stupidest thing I've ever seen a tumblr conspiracy theory coalesce around.

how to build a digital music collection and stuff

spotify sucks aaaass. so start downloading shit!!

file format glossary

.wav is highest quality and biggest

.mp3 is very small, but uses lossy compression which means it's lower quality

.flac is smaller than .wav, but uses lossless compression so it's high quality

.m4a is an audio file format that apple uses. that's all i really know

downloading the music

doubledouble.top is a life saver. you can download from a variety of services including but not limited to apple music, spotify, soundcloud, tidal, deezer, etc.

i'd recommend ripping your music from tidal or apple music since they're the best quality (i think apple music gives you lossless audio anyway. .m4a can be both lossy and lossless, but from the text on doubledouble i assume they're ripping HQ files off apple music)

i also love love love cobalt.tools for ripping audio/video from youtube (they support a lot of other platforms too!)

of course, many artists have their music on bandcamp — purchase or download directly from them if you can. bandcamp offers a variety of file formats for download

file conversion

if you're downloading from apple music with doubledouble, it spits out an .m4a file.

.m4a is ok for some people but if you prefer .flac, you may wanna convert it. ffmpeg is a CLI (terminal) tool to help with media conversion

if you're on linux or macOS, you can use parameter expansion to batch convert all files in a folder. put the files in one place first, then with your terminal, cd into the directory and run:

for i in *.m4a; do ffmpeg -i "$i" "${i%.*}.flac"; done

this converts from .m4a to .flac — change the file extensions if needed.

soulseek

another way to get music is through soulseek. soulseek is a peer-to-peer file sharing network which is mainly used for music. nicotine+ is a pretty intuitive (and open-source) client if you don't like the official one.

you can probably find a better tutorial on soulseek somewhere else. just wanted to make this option known

it's bad etiquette to download from people without sharing files of your own, so make sure you've got something shared. also try to avoid queuing up more than 1-2 albums from one person in a row

tagging & organizing your music

tagging: adding metadata to a music file (eg. song name, artist name, album) that music players can recognize and display

if you've ripped music from a streaming platform, chances are it's already tagged. i've gotten files with slightly incorrect tags from doubledouble though, so if you care about that then you might wanna look into it

i use musicbrainz picard for my tagging. they've got pretty extensive documentation, which will probably be more useful than me

basically, you can look up album data from an online database into the program, and then match each track with its file. the program will tag each file correctly for you (there's also options for renaming the file according to a certain structure if you're into that!)

there's also beets, which is a CLI tool for... a lot of music collection management stuff. i haven't really used it myself, but if you feel up to it then they've got extensive documentation too. for most people, though, it's not really a necessity

how you wanna organize your music is completely up to you. my preferred filestructure is:

artist > album > track # track

using a music player

the options for this are pretty expansive. commonly used players i see include VLC, foobar2000, clementine (or a fork of it called strawberry), and cmus (for the terminal)

you can also totally use iTunes or something. i don't know what audio players other systems come with

i personally use dopamine. it's a little bit slow, but it's got a nice UI and is themeable plus has last.fm support (!!!)

don't let the github page fool you, you don't have to build from source. you can find the releases here

click the "assets" dropdown on the most recent release, and download whichever one is compatible with your OS

syncing

if you're fine with your files just being on one device (perhaps your computer, but perhaps also an USB drive or an mp3 player), you don't have to do this

you can sync with something like google drive, but i hate google more than i hate spotify

you can get a free nextcloud account from one of their providers with 2GB of free storage. you can use webDAV to access your files from an app on your phone or other device (documents by readdle has webDAV support, which is what i use)

disroot and blahaj.land are a couple providers i know that offer other services as well as nextcloud (so you get more with your account), but accounts are manually approved. do give them a look though!!

if you're tech-savvy and have an unused machine lying around, look into self-hosting your own nextcloud, or better yet, your own media server. i've heard that navidrome is a pretty good audio server. i unfortunately don't have experience with self-hosting at the moment so i have like zero advice to give here. yunohost seems to be a really easy way to manage a server
