Yesterday’s conditioning workout. Started with 4 sets of 3min rounds on the bag. Then did the following circuit: - Rope slam x50 - Pull-ups x 10 - push-ups x 20 Repeat 4x with little to no break in between. Part of this morning’s conditioning. After I hit the heavy bag a few rounds I pulled out the ladder and did some drills followed by a hill sprint. These are 3 of the drills I used. Part of today’s morning strength work. I love using this circuit to hit the center of my chest. Doing the chin ups at the end feel almost like a stretch for my pecs. I focus on my core during each exercise. You don’t need a lot of equipment to get in a good workout. Jumping rope for only 10 minutes could be just as efficient as a 30 minute jog. It’s also a much lower impact exercise than running. Jumping rope also helps decrease foot and ankle injuries as well as improves bone density, cardiovascular health and breathing efficiency. Basically jumping rope is awesome. Here I am working with the homie @markkuzmalab on how to bring the fight into closer range. We break it down into 3 steps. 1. Timing the opening. Mark is moving in off of a jab that I’ve thrown. This makes it harder for me to stop him from coming in. As he enters you’ll notice I’m throwing a right hand. This is to make sure his hands are up while he’s coming in. If they weren’t up he’d walk right into my power hand and it would not end well for him. 2. He starts his attack. Once he’s come in off my jab and blocks my right hand he has the opportunity to throw the left body shot. This forces me crunch down on my right side to try and block some of the impact. 3. Be ready to move. Since I’ve now crunched down on my right side I’m only free to throw my left hand at an attempt to stop Mark’s attack. This would typically come as a hook because of my position. Mark is then in the perfect position to sit under my hook and get a better angle to continue punching. When it all comes together 👌🏻 We don’t do cardio boxing in my gym. We teach you how to actually fight. A big part of that is working on movement and reaction.
