People in the Lower Decks tags are always really vocal about not shipping Mariner/Boimler. Like there are posts about their parallels with Kirk/Spock that feel the need to add a disclaimer that even though they think Kirk/Spock is romantic, don't worry everybody, they think Mariner/Boimler is completely platonic 😇

Like. Do you really think it's a good look for you to LOVE the gay ship but to openly hate on the one that's interracial? Or is it not a race thing? Is it a biphobia thing, and you don't ship them because you think it's somehow less progressive to ship a canonically, openly bisexual female character with a man?

For most people I'm assuming this isn't even a conscious choice, but I'd really like people to examine why their immediate instinct is to absolutely refuse to ship the "straight" pairing (that includes a black bisexual woman and a white man).
