They are a prime rivals to lovers ship. They nag on eachother and find love in competition. They teamed up for MCC Season 4 Kick-Off and were a great team together.

For the theme of learning to tolerate eachother (inspired by MCC4KO):

When Scott announced that Joel would have to team up with Shane (Firebreathman), he nearly killed Scott. He hated Shane's guts. He was already so mad that he couldn't beat him up in Battle Box. They met up for practice and would immediately begin fighting eachother to train. There was something so catharic to getting to defeat your arch nemesis in a 1-on-1. It was almost intimate the way they stayed all day to hone their pvp and parkour skills. So fixated on what the other is doing. It turned into a game of chicken, seeing which of them would call it quits on practicing first, neither of which wanting to appear weaker than the other.

They went at it for many hours, long after everyone else would leave the training area. So the inevitable happened: one of them straight up passed out. One second Joel was hopping from one floating island to the next, the next second he saw black and collapsed on the floor. He woke up to being carried in Shane's arms to the lobby of the training area. He was dizzy and sweaty. Shane put him down on a bench. "It's getting late. We should go home."

Joel's stomach fell in dread. He didn't want to go home and see Lizzie in this state. He felt miserable and didn't want to worry her. "Sure," he responded, "I'll try and find a hostel. I uh, kinda live far away."

"You can crash my couch if you like," Shane replied almost too quickly.

Joel turned his face away as he felt it heat up. "If you're offering, yeah." He paused and worried his lower lip. "I still hate you though."

Shane's eyes crinkled as he let out a laugh. "Yeah. You're the worst."

Maybe they can manage being on a team. Just this one time

Despite their rivalry, Shane never mentions the fainting incident. Not outright, at least. But water is pushed towards him a whole lot more often now, and breaks are scheduled in instead of ignored.

Joel can appreciate that. He might even call them bros.

Omg I saw you in the replies of a firebeans (Shane/Joel) post. One of us!! One of us!

I am a pretty big firebeans fan mate lol. i'm just a big shane fan in general actually. and mcc too by extension! i had a buncha stats memorized T^T and could name every mcc winner and team at one pt lol

and me art was the thumbnail for the official vod upload on shane's channel of the mcc they paired up together actually!

uhh but if the slash implies romantic pairing, probably not lol!

nothing against the shippers and the ships (the not rpf ones, im sorry, that stuff weirds me out personally) but you do you and have fun! While i does not mind seeing other ppl make the blorbos kiss and stuff, i just personally seem to gravitate more towards making platonic stuff meself
