I’m revealing myself. That anon was me. Hand over your mina & ‘Sae thoughts NOW 🔫
i have been SEEN OPE-- dON'T MIND IF I DO B)
Arcadion Cruiserweight, from the perspective of my WoL's:
DANCING GREEN:
Minasha: ★★★☆☆
he sees through the party playboy act immediately; finds it mildly irritating, but at this point, he gets it. man's been living with masks his whole life - of course he gets it. 50/50 on whether he wants to beat him up, or go out drinking with him.
Nira'sae: ★★★★★
they're flustered by his persona - charmed by the man underneath. they may not get to meet him on the dancefloor battlefield personally, but they definitely enjoyed the show. (i like to think there was no small amount of flirting going on backstage. mina may have fought a little aggressively during this match out of spite.)
SUGAR RIOT:
Minasha: ★☆☆☆☆
he's never been a fan of the artsy types. he wrote her off as a pretentious nuisance the second he heard the word "inspiration". also her bright, bubbly arena gave him a headache. (he may have still been a little grouchy from the last fight.)
Nira'sae: ★★★★☆
while they wouldn't consider themself an artist, they're very artist-adjacent, so they were SUPER on board with her and her work. she's also the first "pictomancer" they've met since krile-- so suffice it to say they find her entire combat style beautiful and fascinating in equal measure. 10/10 will be tagging along next time she decides she wants to paint a wall, if she's willing.
BRUTE ABOMINATOR:
Minasha: ☆☆☆☆☆
no. just... no. such an aggressive disregard for one's own life and blind faith in the president just... pissed him off and disappointed him. he didn't like brute bomber to start with, so this was just the cherry on top.
Nira'sae: N/A
(they were not present for this fight or it's broadcast, and mina requested that yaana keep the nastier details from them.)
HOWLING BLADE:
Minasha: ★☆☆☆☆
initially assumed his Good Boy thing was an act. gave him a lot of shit for it. found out his Good Boy thing was not an act. proceeded to give him even more shit for it. when given the opportunity to goad him into wagering his retirement? was way fucking harsh about it. "whimpering wolf" got nothing on how nasty mina can get when he feels like it.
Nira'sae: ★★★★☆
a sweet hhetsarro that loves cats, has confidence in his abilities, and is an all around good guy? yeah, nah. they're sold. they've been sold. he also gets pity points from them because mina has decided to bully the shit outta him.

Been a while, how about some off-topic weekend? How are y'all doing? Doing well, I hope. I'm doing fine myself, mostly. As I mentioned the other day I've got some personal stuff going on, nothing in my life directly as such but still something that's got me worried about it on a daily basis. Aside from that I've also been doing, or rather try to do, some serious self-reflection recently, but it's mostly just been leading me in circles so it's not resulted in much so far.
That said, it's not all bad, I've been planning to set up my first aquarium for quite a while now ever since my mom emptied out one of hers and gave it to me last year, and barring any sudden illness we're finally going to get the ball rolling on it next week! I'm very excited for it, and you can be certain I'll keep y'all updated on it.
Also the other week I completed a long-standing goal: Getting all classes in FFXIV to the max level for the first time! It's something I've been chipping away at steadily ever since I got back into the game last autumn. I decided to celebrate it the only way I know how: Taking pictures of all my various outfits! So if you wanna see my funny li'l guy all dressed up then do I have the photoset for you!
Paladin | Warrior | Dark Knight | Gunbreaker
White Mage | Scholar | Astrologian | Sage
Monk | Samurai | Dragoon | Reaper | Ninja | Viper
Bard | Dancer | Machinist
Black Mage | Summoner | Red Mage | Pictomancer
And that's all of them! There's three duplicate outfits in there, namely Dragoon/Reaper, Ninja/Viper, and Bard/Dancer. The Dragoon/Reaper is honestly my weakest fit if I'm being honest, as it doesn't really have any strong idea at all, but I haven't found anything for either of them that I like that also looks good on my character's stubby little body. By contrast I actually really like the Ninja/Viper outfit, but I did make it with Ninja in mind specifically and never found anything for Viper that really got my imagination going, so it stuck. Bard and Dancer on the other hand are my two least favourite classes to play, so they'll likely share their outfit forever.

@nymfaia : Krile, even without speaking or gazing upon her chosen brother, radiated something that could curdle milk. She had charcoal darkening her fingers where she drew up a rather small Moogle, dipping into her aether to bring the little creature to life - mini moghammer in hand as it flew in G'raha's direction. "Raha," she said, voice light and dangerous. "Funny seeing you - I just finished a linkpearl consultation with your beloved. She was seeking a remedy for her nausea." The flat, black-and-white moogle circled G'raha's head ominously. "She said," Krile continued, "that it's akin to how she felt... a few moons ago. Funny, isn't it? Seems to be becoming a yearly affliction." The rubber hammer let out a rather squeaky bonk! sound as it collided with the crown of his head. "G'raha Tia," she threatened as the sketch morphed back into charcoal and disappeared in a cloud of pigment, "need I send you a reminder for her medicines? Or should I look into something for you, since it seems as if you two can't behave -"
a moogle is gunning to cut the thread of g'raha tia's sad life. when he spots it, g'raha's eyes open so wide they might pop out of his foolish, empty miqo'te head. he quickly sets aside his chosen project, not caring that it makes a mess on the table, and holds his hands up in nervous defense. not that it saves him. he looks around for a savior in one of their companions and finds none.
bonk! "ouch!" he rubs the sore spot on his head, ears back, face innocent and sweet--as if he doesn't know exactly what he has done. he shakes his head to clear himself, giving krile his best pleading (and very earnest) look. she's quite the pictomancer and could summon a veritable horde of moogles, if she so wished--and he certainly does not wish for that. best to please her.
"krile, please!" g'raha won't throw alta under the metaphorical trolley--even if her consent was enthusiastic enough to lead to this predicament. again. while he'd like nothing more than to teleport straight to alta and help soothe her nausea (his heart aflutter with hope about her condition), he's too fond of his sister to ignore her concerns. she is a woman, after all, and she shares a comradery with the other women of the scions that g'raha has missed out on due to his gender--but he admires the pact, too.
"her medicines are her affair!" said with no anger, but pleading. "i do not intend to pour tea down her throat, especially when she is too tired to brew it, and so very cold at night, and-" he need not elaborate past that, the circumstances of how this happened becoming quite clear. his face flames, and he avoids krile's discerning eye by looking up, distracted and foolish in love as ever. "ah, but why did she not call for me? i would go to her if she-" it doesn't occur to him that she might be wishing for space, because g'raha has never wished for space from her or their family unit--though he has been wise enough to give it to her, now and then, agonizing as it is. one thing is true: if alta is with child again, she will be suffocated by her companion's presence, ever-lingering over her shoulder as he did the first time through.
how they will manage more than one child, he isn't certain. but g'raha is optimistic, as he always is with alta. and overenthusiastic. again, a trait she brings out in him.
thankfully, she provides a very good reason to flee from a lalafell on the warpath. he deftly side steps krile and her cold glare, his own face red with shame, tail swishing with anxiety. anything to get away from this scolding, even if it is deserved. "in fact, if you will excuse me, it sounds like i am rather needed at her side...i will fetch her the remedy straight away-"
#nymfaia#file : g'raha tia.#ic : g'raha tia.#pregnancy mention //#answers.#dawntrail spoilers#??? i mean about krile's class but the rest we made up in our minds about alta graha LOL#my ass is struggling BUT this ask was too funny to not try my best <3#thank u my beautiful beloved....always blessing my inbox#poor graha hes so cringe and in love even after all this time. sir.

I can definitely feel FFXIV reaching the limits of what its jobs can actually do now that we're level 100 in Dawntrail. I think every job got some variation on "Your big damage cooldown button turns into an AoE attack at level 100" because there's just not enough hotbar space for new moves and some of the upgrades we got this time around were like...passive upgrades to role actions. Rampart is better for tanks, swiftcast has a shorter cooldown, Feint, Addle, Reprisal last longer.
The one that stands out to me the most is Dancer, where the first upgrade Dancer gets at level 92 is a new button that is effectively identical to one of their existing buttons, but it can only be used after Standard Step. And another upgrade at level 96 makes Flourish give a buff that makes their next Standard Step instant, removing the little dance mini-game. Which feels like it kinda defeats the point of being a Dancer, that's part of the job's identity.
I've heard from my friends that Black Mage similarly gets a pretty lame upgrade in the form of Flare Star, a middling spell meant to be the new capstone of their combo that throws off the entire rhythm of the rotation, which is all the more frustrating when this is the same expansion that introduced Pictomancer, probably the strongest caster in the game to date.
I dunno, it's just a bit of a let down to not see anything really new or cool from the jobs at level 100.

I've been thinking for a while about how, since the changes, I don't enjoy playing Monk the way I used to. Monk was the class I started FFXIV with on my first character Thaeril. I'm not saying the changes are bad, I'm saying the changes make it less fun to play. For me. It doesn't feel as fluid as it used to. But maybe that's just my button layout.
All this to say, Phaedra is probably going to drop Monk entirely from her repetoire of classes and pick up Pictomancer. And possibly Viper as classes from her main rotation.
I could imagine her wanting to use a weapon, having relied so heavily on her fists. And I could also see her wanting to make use of her artistic skill in battle. (Plus, I just find Pictomancer really fun to play).
I know this is an entirely 'me centric' post, and really, no one else cares. It is just something that I've been thinking about since Dawntrail. And to be fair, after fighting for her life against Zenos at the edge of everything, I think she would want to move away from hand-to-hand fighting and the trauma she now associates with it.
Soo... yeah. Bloop. That's about it.

3. Favorite class?
Oof, now this is a hard question!
My first job was White Mage, so I have a soft spot for it, but I also adore Astrologian, Samurai, Dancer, Black Mage, and Red Mage to name a few. However…
My new favorite job has to be Pictomancer! It’s crazy how much I thought I would be disappointed in this job when the full DT trailer was released, as I had wanted either Green Mage, Time Mage, or Geomancer for the new casting job. But now that DT is live, I can’t get enough of Picto! It’s so incredibly fun and rewarding, and it’s so damn powerful DPS wise as well. It’s so impressive visually too. It’s now my main job on Hali going forward, and I want to unlock it on Yume too because I just can’t get enough!
Thank you so much for the ask @burgiethewriter!! 🥰💖

For the Send Me A Character prompt: Alphinaud Leveilleur?
First impression: This guy seems like he's got good intentions, but man he seems like a stuck-up smartass. I'm sure they'll give me more backstory for him, but right now I'm like 'why are you in charge?'
Impression now This is my son. This is my little bro. He's a smart and resourceful cookie. He is a nerd and dumbass. He wants to do right by everyone and isn't naive about it anymore. I will protect him with my life. I wonder what new challenges he'll get in the future?
Favorite moment It's a tie between him throwing himself into the sea, and him rounding up the Eulmoreans and helping them with the expectation that the help won't last long-term - and then the citizens deciding that they do want to do better, and his reaction to that. I'm sure there's many more that don't come to mind right now.
Idea for a story ..... Phoenix!Leveilleur twins, a la the Dominants in XVI or some kinda aether shenanigans - OR the twins get pulled into a Hildibrandt questline and are the horrified witnesses alongside a WoL who is now Genre Savvy enough to know what to expect. In a more general take, anything to do with his character arc in Heavensward, and how he transitions from seeing the WoL as a chess piece in his grand benevolent scheme to a person he ends up looking up to.
Unpopular opinion I don't think he needs Pictomancer in his arsenal. He just had a job change, let Krile shine some more. Also, I think he's permitted to forgive his father if he wants to make that work. (The WoL can be Mad in his Stead. <3)
Favorite relationship I don't ship him with anyone, but I do enjoy his rapport with Alisaie and Krile. They don't let him live anything down. And of course the WoL. (EDIT: I FORGOT ARENVALD LET THEM HANG OUT AGAIN)
Favorite headcanon He will collapse at a Drop of alcohol. This isn't even because he's 16, I think even when he's an adult he will have the constitution of a wet leaf.

Thoughts on Dawntrail
I have finished the MSQ and done some side quests, and I have finally come to a conclusion on my overall impression of the expansion so far. I will break it down into two sections, spoiler free and then spoilers.
Spoiler Free:
-The graphics update is great, I can't wait until all of the old zones/characters/gear are updated, it will be great to go back and see the changes.
-The art and design is, as always, lovely, and I really enjoyed the overall designs of most of the zones.
-The music was great, as usual, however, there are a few songs that are complete misses for me...especially when you have been in an area for a while and you hear the same tune repeat over and over again...I have muted my music more in this xpac than in previous ones.
-The jobs are good, I always level everything to MAX level and have 2 jobs at 100 so far, but, overall, the changes/additions to the jobs that I prefer are good changes and the additions don't change too much about the rotations that I know and like. I like current Viper and am sad to see that they are planning on making changes, I think it is fine the way it currently is and the positionals and other complaints that I have seen are silly in my opinion. My Pictomancer is only 90 at the time of writing, the job is cute, and I get how it works, but as I don't really like casters in FFXIV anyway, it isn't a job that I am going to play much beyond getting it to 100.
Now for spoilers:
-As to the overall story, it was fine, a nice break from doom and gloom, but I have several major issues:
-Let's let the cat out of the bag first; Wuk Lamat - I like her in general and I am sad to see that people are being such dicks about the VA being trans, I thought the voice acting was fine, it was the character itself that was a little annoying to me. I understand that we are supposed to be guiding her through a journey where she grows into the leader she needs to be, however, even at the end, she is still just very naive in ways that I just find annoying as a personality trait.
My biggest issue, with her as a character, actually happens in the later half of the story, after she has ascended to Dawnservant. Once everything starts hitting the fan and we recognize that the problem is an issue involving a Reflection and we have way more meta knowledge about what is really happening, it seems silly that we would still be holding her hand and trying to explain every bit of lore instead of addressing the issues at hand.
The whole vibe of most of the story felt very after school special with the power of friendship and rainbows solving the problems that happen. I also did not like it during the Interphos trial her busting her way into the fight and "winning it" with the power of positivity, that just didn't work for me.
As the WoL we have seen people like Sphene in multiple expansions, all trying to "save" their people and using that to justify atrocities...Hades, Elidibus, Thordan to name a few. And in each case, we said "Cool motive, still murder" and dealt with the offender as they needed to be, even at great personal cost, especially once we knew exactly who/what the WoL is and means to some of the characters.
So, why are we dealing with Sphene, who we saw at the massacre in Tuliyollal, with friendship is magic powers. It worked with Metion because she was the literal embodiment of despair and needed to be given some perspective on hope, but Sphene, as a character, did not earn that kind of respect/kindness from my WoL.
Overall, I am just glad to be done with the MSQ and look forward to the raid fights and hopefully some cool/interesting side quest stories.
-I think my biggest issue with the story overall, is just a problem that happens with all MMOs and that is the illusion of control in the story. We can't choose not to support Wuk Lamat, even if we feel one of the other candidates is a better fit. We can't choose how we deal with/approach anything that is happening in the last two zones of the game. That is a function of this type of game genre, once you have to create a story in a world that is beyond a single player scenario, you can't really give anyone any personal drive to change how the story plays out.
Compare it to a pure RPG like Baldur's Gate 3 - yes, in the end the story is still driving you on a path to defeat the end boss, but there are so many different approaches to how you get there, that you never really have the exact same experience twice - you can be good, evil, neutral, romance who you want, approach fights in many different ways, characters can die, actions have consequences and are permanent.
However, in an MMO-RPG the story always has to be the same path for every character, every time, for hundreds of thousands of people. The only real choice you have is which of the two zones you are going to go to first when you do the first branching quest after the main city. I love MMOs, I have played them for many, many years, but once you start to see the man behind the curtain, so to speak, it becomes much less interesting to really care about the lore. I kind of understand where some story skippers have a point - if you just want to experience some cool fights, does it really matter what the narrative framework used to justify the existence of those fights is?

Random FF14 posts, go!
I did the Benchmark and had fun making Kell and his mom (FINALLY!!!) and I love her so much. Hrothgals, my beloved.
First off, please admire my boy. He's my precious bean, i adore him <3 I kinda wish I could have done the Benchmark as Pictomancer for the hell of it, though.
Meet Nadezdha Sorrell, Kell's awesomely purple mom. I also love her. She would totally kick ass as a Viper and I might let that be a class she actually knows xD (OH COULD YOU IMAGINE IF KELL ACTUALLY GOT HIS JOBSTONE FROM HIS MOM???) I've been playing with the idea of her and Kell's dad originally being from Tural and I think that's probably going to be canon now.
I tried out the Anabaseios gear for her and those swords are shiny~

Fanfest reactions:
Solution 9 is a Zidane ability hmmm
Three of the four new tribal allies are recolors of ones we already have and the fourth is just Small Human lol
Pictomancer is neat. It was my first choice until people converted me to Green Mage so now I feel like I got the rug pulled out from under me haha but I’m not mad about it
Hrothgals look kinda like how I was expecting but why didn’t they show an in game video of them

MAGICAL RANGED DPS
Magic is fucking cool, man
The Magic DPS in FFXIV are all fairly varied in their own right, but I personally find that they range from deceptively hard to outright brainless, and it's no surprise who's in my last place if you've been paying attention.
Pictomancer
As of 7.05, Pictomancer remains the most overtuned, powerful caster in the game. It's a huge surprise that it hasn't been nerfed yet, but I cannot complain. Pictomancer's kit had a surprising free-flow style to it where most of what you're doing, as long as you understand why you're doing it, will contribute to the party. By its design it has one of the most committed cast times of all the Magic DPS and thus to make up for all the time NOT spent DPSing, your canvas magic makes up for in HUGE DPS. It's no surprise to see them top-DPSing on third-party tools. But like I said, it's a deceptively hard class. Between mechanics, juggling your canvases and building up Aetherhues to gain negative palette, you're constantly working up towards your burst until 2 minute hits and you release EVERYTHING you've saved up. And it feels fantastic. And its pseudo-leylines skill is extremely unique and rewards good playing and knowledge of the raid. Definitely the most well-thought out class overall.
2. Black Mage
The Great Sword of FFXIV made into a class. It boasts (what's supposed to be) high DPS with the tradeoff being long cast times and stationary playing. It's a class that rewards knowing the fight and understanding your kit well to be extremely effective in-combat and I hope they never change it. But it's one of those classes that you NEED to have community knowledge and guides on if you wish to be effective, otherwise you're dead weight. I think more classes should be this difficult and punishing if not played right, but that's just me. In Dawntrail, it's had a very rocky start and was recently changed to play like it did in Endwalker, which I am thankful for. But right now, its damage is pitiful for what's supposed to be THE premiere selfish DPS class. Still better than the other two on the list, but no where near where it should be for how much work you put in unlike Pictomancer.
3. Red Mage
Red Mage didn't exactly change much between Endwalker and Dawntrail. All of its new skills, just added onto the finishers and it still kept its utility as a pseudo-healer and situational resser (thank god). Ironically enough, of all the caster classes I feel that Red Mage is the class that has the least mobility. There's very few movement options that Red Mage has and outside of its finishers, you move very little unless you learn to slidecast. Probably my least played class not because it's bad, but because it has more fun alternatives for me.
4. Summoner
If Dancer didn't exist, this would be the most boring class to me, so we'll settle for second. Its Shadowbringers counterpart was full of an old and outdated design that also dealt with the infamous pet actions that didn't work most of the time. And yet, it was extremely engaging what with micro-managing your Summoned pet and taking in the power of Primals to do devastating damage. It was the first class in FFXIV that forced me to actually study how it worked, and I felt satisfied figuring it out. In Endwalker they had drastically changed it to better encompass the Summoner identity and at the same time reducing its kit to what's basically baby's first color identifier. I had held out hope that Dawntrail would have added more complexity because as it stood, it was a super bare bones class, but unfortunately it seems that they felt they didn't need to do any more to it than just add another phase and swap around Bahamut and Phoenix. To aptly describe the change would be the saddest fall from grace.
Bonus Stage:
Blue Mage
BLUE MAGE #1 STILL THE BEST FOREVER
In all seriousness, I like the role it's been put in by the community. Because none of the spells you learn are locked behind levels, its potential damage output is insanely high at any level, making it the perfect choice to farm Fates or old content with. It's the key reason why I'm even able to farm as many Aetheryte tickets as possible, making me save a LOT of gil, especially as a crafter and gatherer.

So my thoughts on the Dawntrail keynote:
Going feral over Solution Nine, they really went heavy on the cyberpunk and I'm here for it. Slightly concerned that they're going to be split too much between themes and fronts and it might end up like Stormblood 2.0, which I like Stormblood but I get the issues people have with it.
I called Pictomancer and it looks really cool I'm happy with it, I just think it would be better on Alphinaud since he was kinda the established Scion Artist, but Krile deserves the chance to shine and Alphinaud's arc into sage was fitting well enough so...
Do kinda wish we were just doing South Tural, not the entire new world, but I guess that means Meracydia sooner sooooo hurray!
Skipping the Stormblood MSQ ultimate and going right to the Shadowbringers Raid ultimate is an interesting move, I hope Stormblood doesn't get skipped forever. Also still holding onto hope that we'll one day get Trial Series ultimates, but that seems unlikely. I've also never cleared an ultimate or attempted any outside UWU so I don't really have the grounds to be talking about ultimates but the sudden inconsistency has me curious.
Character model graphics previews looked pretty good except some of the darker skinned example characters seems kinda shiny? like they'd been doused in baby oil.
Femroths looked really strange at first but I think the design is growing on me, have to wait and see how they look in game I guess? (Remind me of Khajiit from Elder Scrolls.)
So a decent couple of people were missing from the Key art shown at the end of the Keynote, like G'raha, Y'shtola, Estinien, and the Twins. My personal theory is that they're going to be on the other side of the Scion split, which is confusing because I can see Alisaie and Estinien siding opposite the WoL out of competitive spirit, Y'shtola doing it for fun, but Alphinaud and G'raha opposing us is breaking my heart and now I'm really curious about how the Scion split is going to be handled.

Today’s gameplay progress: (or, rather, yesterday’s, because I left this in drafts last night-)
I made it to Garlemald! Considering I had only picked up the first quest of each side of the “route split” that starts Endwalker off (where you can either go to Thavnair first or stay in Sharlayan and then go down into Labyrinthos), and also did other things today like running the Cloud Deck (Extreme) almost 30 times in a row to hunt gwibers, I think I made very good progress and definitely ended up doing the “big burst” of story progression I said I wanted to earlier today!
(Why, if I kept this pace up, I’d reach my goal before I even made it home on Thursday.. but considering I have an exam standing in my way, that’s not happening. Haha.)
(My goal, as a reminder, is to finish 6.0 and the first eight raids of Pandæmonium for the sake of getting the purgatory casting gear pieces I want to wear for Lorenza and Camellia’s Eternal Bond ceremony on the 30th. And my bonus goal is to also get to 6.2 and reach Zero’s domain in that timeframe, but that doesn’t necessarily need to happen within the same timeframe!)
In terms of levelling, I started today with pictomancer at level 93 and it’s now nearly level 95 just from story quest experience; I used reaper for the level 81 dungeon, so that is now a good way into level 91 from what I remember. If I wasn’t trying to finish the plot by a certain time frame then I’d probably be trying to do it as black mage, since I still have to get that up from 1 - but I enjoy playing it, so I’m not actually fussed. I’m levelling pictomancer up with the quest experience because I find it a bit overly hectic to play at high levels; I seem to go from having too much downtime waiting for cooldowns at lower levels (≈50) to not enough downtime and drifting cooldowns at the other end of the scale (80+). Thankfully, nothing needs to be at a specific level for plot progression, since any of the classes I play are either above 90 or below 40 as Lorenza now ;w;
#a voidsent voice 🜸#gameplay tag#I swapped my accounts with each other for the sake of my eventual goal of always wanting to be with zero#so while I can glamour and prefpro to make clio show up instead of Lorenza when I’m doing story#this is technically now lorenza who is back at the start of endwalker#and clio is now the one at the start of dawntrail#I have confused everyone by doing this but it’ll be fine it’s done now

Due to a recent blow to her personal story, Violetta is around but playing a smaller role in my writing.

Like Violetta, Holly was a main for a long time, but now he’s just sort of lurking in the background until he gets wound up in new shenanigans.

Alice Graves [https://aka-alice.carrd.co/]
Alice will return with Dawntrail and the Pictomancer because it is what she was unknowingly made for. She’s an odd character, and I look forward to future chaos for her and those who know her.

Feel like I have at least one job in each armor tier that I will level and ignore. Just because I didn't vibe with them as hard. I enjoy Warrior, Dark Knight, and Gunbreaker in a pinch but, Paladin even with the Endwalker revamp (somewhat) feels kind of underwhelming. Shelltron doesn't really seem to do anything and like Black Mage's Fire I, you're stuck with it for a reeeealllly long time. I think I read its suppose to act as a fill in while your other damage mit is on CD but its so short and can barely be shot out to absorb a tankbuster in time, it really isn't that interesting. I hear their AoE game is nuts but it feels underwhelming to me. And the Paladin Questline doesn't believe in them either, so that doesn't help.
Monk, I prefer Samurai just because it feels like they're changing Monk every time they can. Samurai at least has some level of stability. Even if it has no raid utility to aid.
Reaper, all the way BBY. Much as Dragoon is cool. I like that Reaper's positionals are an after thought. So it to spend your job gauge. And then tunnel vision your DPS. Also, a hoonter must hoont aesthetic. Can't beat it.
Ninja feels better than Viper. I didn't get to play before the nerf and revamping. But, Viper feels kind of underwhelming damage wise. Maybe I was playing it wrong. But, at least I can feel my burst windows and actively participating with Ninja, whereas Viper is like. To left, take it back now y'all. One flank this time! One rear this time! FREEZE! EVERYBODY CLAP YOUR HANDS!
Astrologian is just cause I am a lazy healer. Aspected Benefic and Helios go a long way cause Double Stackable Regen go BRRRRRRR. I noticed it falling off HoT wise around 88 but, I don't main healer so. Its fine. White Mage is my second favorite but, its like a massive marign. I just didn't vibe with any other healer as much as Astrologian. Sage, I use for overworld. But I dislike barrier healer so much that I refuse to level Sage in dungeons using my daily FATE, Allied Society Quests to level it up. Cause Sage is practically immortal in those FATE quests. Scholar is dead last. Not because it isn't good, its because I am actively terrible with it. Tried it in Shadowbringers and again in Endwalker. Sadly, just not for me. I've seen super good Scholars though and they kick ass. So dead is my bad opinion on full display. Veteran Scholars and Sages FUCK. They are awesome. Receiving absolute 0 damage, no matter the pull or dungeon? Orgasmic. I get the appeal, its just not for me.
I like Dancer. I didn't at first cause it was variety overload for me. But after taking time to learn it. Love it. Use to Bard main in Stormblood but as soon as Shadowbringers hit. It just fucked up Bard beyond repair. Its lost its wonderful rhythm and proccs from the Stormblood days. Even with the addition of the new aoe low level ability, I still dislike Bard. Went from #1 to dead last. Machinist is only a little better. Felt like shooting peas at enemies. Outside of drill, my damage was just absolute shit for how busy Machinist it can get. Another wide gap between Dancer and the other two unfortunately.
Despite me enjoying the damage and idea of Pictomancer, I still prefer Summoner and Red Mage. Simply because it feels like I can be more mobile and active. I don't have to pause or wait to paint a picture. I can go with the flow in battle. I know Summoner is dead last in Magic DPS measurements. But I still like it more than Black Mage. Which is awesome in concept but they really need to hone in on what makes Black Mage fucking awesome. Everytime I think I get in the rhythm of Black Mage, they change it again. Dawntrail's initial Black Mage was fucking egregious to me. SB, ShBr, and EW Black Mage had a rhythm, a method to the madness, and a journal. Dawntrail Black Mage has been clunky, awkward, and unwieldy. Like Black Mage decided to have a mid-life crisis during our vacation. Put it next to Bard in how horrible it now feels compared to before. Hope the 7.2 change aids this. But, I still won't main it over Red Mage and Summoner.
