Was thinking about what weapons they'd use in the pjo au so here are the ones I have so far (and these aren't all at the beginning of the series, just generally their staple weapon):
Sophie: a spear, I imagine that it's made out of a material that makes it easy for her to zap people with it (so basically metal) and is about as long as a lacrosse stick. <- when on quests it's kept in a lacrosse stick looking case so it isn't suspicious (the mist would make the spear look like a lacrosse stick)
Fitz: something akin to a falcata sword? Like that sort of shape but longer. I'm not very knowledgeable about swords and fighting techniques so that might change idk
Dex: comically large hammer. Yes I am serious. I imagine he would do something to make it compact and carry-able (mix of machinery and magic) and can take it out and make it change into the hammer so he can beat up monsters. Element of surprise, ya'know? (he has a lot of upper body strength so he can wack monsters with the very heavy hammer)
Stina: bow and arrow, arming sword for closer range. Not much to it. In my au Stina is really good at archery and even teaches the class occasionally. Again, not very knowledgeable abt swords so idk if that's the best option for close range but I don't think she'd use a dagger unless it's a last resort.

I've been waiting to post this for ages, so here it is (even if it's technically no longer Pride Month as intended, shut up, I'm not waiting another year)!
An unexhaustive list of moments across every incarnation in which the Doctor is very straight, very cis, very allo, and very gender-conforming. /s
Or in other words:
Tumblr media
[ID: The astronaut "always has been" meme - One astronaut looks at caps of the Fourteenth Doctor talking about finding Newton hot and Fifteen kissing Rogue, saying "Wait...the Doctor's queer now?". A second astronaut behind points a pistol at the first, replying "Always has been."]
In all seriousness, I tried my best to capture as much as I could. It was a more a matter of running up against the limits of what I can squeeze into a Tumblr post than anything else. Even as it is, a lot of the clips are more compressed than I'd like, and Tumblr's downscaled GIF versions are messing up some of my transparent borders.
A lot of stuff is more subtextual and gradual (particularly in stuff like the EDAs), but I tried my best to represent these with particular moments where possible, without clogging the entire thing up with subtle writing and acting choices. There's also a lot more I could have added in regard to cross-gender regenerations, of course, but I avoided too many of these since they don't necessarily imply genderqueerness on an individual incarnation / actor basis. It would also mean giffing every second Thirteen, Fugitive etc. are on-screen.
Obviously, some of these are much more stretches than others (jokes, friendly kisses etc.), before anyone feels like they need to dispute them, but fall nicely into the pattern with everything else, so were included too.
Finally, if you've got something obvious I missed, feel free to add below!
A very long GIF ID and list of sources under the read more:
[ID: A series of gifs showing moments in which the Doctor potentially comes off as queer, trans, asexual, or gender non-conforming, or at least is part of a subtext that can be read as such, distributed in an extended rainbow pattern roughly based on the Progress pride flag. In order, row by row:
1. New Who - The Vanquishers - Thirteen remarks to Dan and Yaz about her duplicate: "I've got such a crush on her."
2. BF - The Sword of the Chevalier transcript:
ROSE: But is he-... she- DOCTOR: She is what ever she says she is. Who cares about gender anyway? It's an archaic concept. Right now, she's a woman.
3. New Who - The Vanquishers - A trapped Thirteen says to her duplicate, "Hi! Wow... you're cute!" The other Thirteen replies, "Thanks. So are you!"
4. BF - Seasons of Fear transcript:
CHARLEY: Another wonderful opportunity to wear a nice dress. DOCTOR: Wouldn't that be a bit conspicuous? CHARLEY: An opportunity for me.
5. BF - Seasons of Fear transcript:
DOCTOR: Are you confusing me with someone else? I'm not the one who says ‘you must obey me’. I don't meddle. And I'm not a glamorous woman at the moment.
6. New Who - The Sound of Drums - Ten on the phone with the Master begs, "Don't you see, all we've got is each other." The Master snarks back, "Are you asking me on a date?!"
7. EDA - The Scarlet Empress:
'You've got the Doctor all wrong. He's not a sexist pig like Gila.' 'He can't help what he is. His gender is alien, but intransigent. The cosmos is guided by male and female impulses - quite separate…' "That's crap!' Sam shouted."The Doctor isn't your average man, at all. I don't think he even has a gender. How can you - whoever you are - pontificate on what he's like? He's private. He's untouchable.'
8. New Who - The Fires of Pompeii - Ten sneaks into the Temple of Sybil. Seer Spurrina says, "No man is allowed to enter the Temple of Sibyl." Ten shrugs and says, "Well, that's all right. Just us girls."
9. EDA - To the Slaughter:
'Yes, me!' The Doctor took Fitz's hand, kissed it delicately, then shoved him aside. 'Now, out of my way!'
10. New Who - Wishworld - Rogue on a TV screen, speaking from a hellish dimension, says "I miss you. Well... more than that. I love y-" before being interrupted by the signal breaking.
11. NSA - Engines of War:
Urgh,’ said Cinder, letting go of the Doctor’s hand and getting to her feet. ‘My leggings are soaked through.’ She helped the Doctor up. ‘Don’t worry,’ he said. ‘I’m sure there’ll be something similar in one of the TARDIS’s wardrobes.’ She raised an eyebrow. ‘Fond of women’s clothes, are we?’ ‘Yes,’ he said, indicating his muddy trousers. ‘Clearly, I have a penchant.’
12. New Who - Meanwhile in the TARDIS 2 - Amy, fresh off trying to seduce him, points at Eleven and says "You are a bloke." He replies, "I'm the Doctor."
13. New Who - Wishworld - John Smith sits and talks about Rogue to Belinda. "There was a man on the TV... and I really liked him."
14. EDA - The Turing Test:
He glanced up. ‘I don’t recommend it, by the way.’ ‘You’ve tried?’ I asked dryly. ‘We – I –’ He shrugged. ‘It’s not something that interests me.’ ‘Sex?’ ‘Yes. It’s a missing piece in my life.’
15. New Who - The Power of Three - Rory kisses the Doctor thank you on the cheek as Amy looks on. Eleven reacts bashfully.
16. EDA - The Year of Intelligent Tigers:
‘Is this it?’ The Doctor let go of Karl. His gaze swept around the cool river, the sweet meadow, the silent trees. In the east the ringed moon was rising, silvering the deep blue of the sky. His eyes came back to the composer. ‘Is this home?’ Karl hoped so. But he didn’t say anything
17. New Who - The Church on Ruby Road - Fifteen and Ruby are tied up on the Goblin ship. He says, "Oh, but it's Lulubelle's birthday." He then says as an aside, "That's such a brilliant name! I wish I was called Lulubelle."

22. New Who - Rogue - Rogue asks Fifteen, "I think you and I should go outside." then walks off. Fifteen mutters "Fast mover..."
23. New Who - The Impossible Astronaut - Eleven calls out "Jefferson isn't a girl's name, it's not her name either." He turns to River, "Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton - River?" She replies, "Surnames of three of America's founding fathers." He then says, "Lovely fellas. Two of them fancied me."
24. EDA - The Turing Test:
I learned that Turing was in love with the Doctor, an excited, hopeless, sexual yet nonsexual, adoring, stupid, profound love that had turned his whole life upside down. ‘Do you think he feels anything for me?’ asked Turing.

33. BF - Afterlife:
DOCTOR: Tell this to your gods. When they punish you. When they stretch you on the neutron rack. I’m still here. LILY: But you…? You’re one.. little… man. DOCTOR:I am not a man. Not a human being. I am a complex space-time event. I am Lord President of Gallifrey. The Traveller from Beyond Time. I am the Sandman. The Oncoming Storm. I am the Ka Faraq Gatri. Destroyer of Worlds. And sometimes. Only sometimes, I am your worst nightmare. I am the Doctor. And I take care of my friends.
34. New Who - The Magician's Apprentice - Missy tells Clara that she's cared for the Doctor, "Since the Cloister Wars. Since the night he stole the moon and the president's wife. Since he was a little girl. One of those was a lie, can you guess which one?"

37. Classic Who - Terror of the Autons - The Brigadier asks Three, with regards to the Master, "Think he'll turn up again, Doctor?" Three replies, "Hm, bound to." Jo notices, "You don't seem very worried about it." only for him to respond, smiling and raising his eyebrows, "I'm not. As a matter of fact, I'm rather looking forward to it."

46. New Who - Dot and Bubble - Continuing from 43, Fifteen compliments Ricky, "Clever as well..." Ricky shrugs, "Eh..." Ruby looks at Fifteen and says, "Okay, Heartstopper."
47. PDA - The Murder Game:
What are you playing at, dressed like that?' Ben wanted to know, to the Doctor's visible dismay. 'Don't you like it? I'm just helping out Mr Hornby with a slight gender imbalance. I got the wig from the TARDIS, but I think it works rather well with the outfit, don't you?' He brushed a stray hair from his face and grinned disarmingly. 'I had to improvise with the bustle though, using coat hangers.' He patted his wire-frame chest and looked comically startled as it dropped to his stomach. Polly laughed and assured him that he made a most convincing woman, as he struggled to adjust himself.
48. BF - The Wormery:
DOCTOR: Love. Huh. Wrote a treatise on the chromosomal origins of love once when | was a small boy. Proved categorically which gene began it, which enzymes carried it, which electrochemical receptors translated it. Took all the fun out of it. Got a rubbish grade too. My tutor told me I’d missed the point. It’s held no mystique for me since, so don’t talk to me about love.
49. Classic Who - The Daemons - Winstanley asks Three, "Are you one of these television chaps then?" Three replies "I am no sort of chap, sir." "Forgive me, but I thought. Well, the costume and the wig, you know?" Three, outraged, responds, "Wig?!"

52. New Who - Rogue - Fifteen and Rogue kiss passionately.

56, 57, 60, 61. New Who - Legend of the Sea Devils - Thrteen opens up to Yaz. "Dates are not something I really do, y'know. I mean I used to, have done, and if I was going to, believe me, it'd be with you. I think you're one of the greatest people I've ever known. Including my wife!" Yaz, surprised, responds, "Your what?" Thirteen continues, "Ah, wasn't going to mention that. I was a long time ago - I was a different man back then. But the point is, if it was going to be anyone... it'd be you."
58. EDA - Timeless:

I knew Puccini once,' sighed Eight, `He had the softest lips.' That's great, But stay away from me, you sissy,' Four looked cautious, Eight looked kissy. Three o'clock, the Queen appeared, The Third, all patriotic, cheered, But Eight, lips puckered, mistletoe handy, Went for the clown and got the dandy.

74, 75. New Who - Closing Time - Distracting Craig, Eleven pulls him close and says, "...because I love you." "You love me?" Craig replies. "Yes, Craig. It's you. It's always been you." "Me?"

82. EDA - Eater of Wasps:
‘Have you remembered what you were doing in 1933 yet?’ asked Fitz. ‘I mean, the last time you were here?’ ‘Oh, yes,’ said the Doctor. ‘But I was a long way from here – I spent some time sailing the South Seas roundabout now.’ Fitz gaped. ‘A sailor? I don’t believe it. Go on, give us a jig!’ The Doctor laughed. ‘Not likely – but I’ll show you my tattoo if you’re lucky.’
83. New Who - Eve of the Daleks - Thirteen gazes lovingly at Yaz, as they watch the warehouse's fireworks explode.
84. VNA - Human Nature:
'We let it be known that he was in a position to give a Time Lord whatever form or mind they wanted. That's a particular dream of Gallifreyans, as I knew from wandering through that young Interventionist's mind.
They regenerate and find themselves to be much the same, and every now and then they dream how wonderful it would be to be able to fly or be of the opposite sex or have a child. That last is a very common dream, for children on Gallifrey are very rare.'

86. BF - The Vanity Box:
DOCTOR: Nesta, will you help me? I’ve got to get into that salon, under cover, and get a closer look. MEL: Doctor, | could go in instead of you. DOCTOR: | don’t think anyone would believe you need a make-over, Mel. And besides, | think it’s going to be chillingly dangerous. NESTA: Actually, | can manage a bourbon if | dunk it in me tea. 96. Classic Who - The City of Death - Four tells Countess Scarlioni, "Oh, well... you're a beautiful woman, probably..."
97. EDA - The Turing Test:
I will say now, however, that I do not think Greene was right: the Doctor is not an angel, though he may not be a man, exactly, either. I desired him as a man, loved him as one, but my love did not blind me, nor make me religious!
98, 99. New Who - World Enough and Time - Twelve tells Bill of Missy, "She was my man crush!" "Wh- I'm sorry?" "Yeah... I think she was a man back then. I'm fairly sure I was too, it was a long time ago though."

107. NSA - Revenge of the Judoon:
"Lords, ladies and Doctors this way, please."

'You go if you want. I must help him.' 'Fitz!' 'I've been engineered to love you, Carmodi. With the Doctor - it's the real thing.'
109. EDA - The Blue Angel:
Fitz swallowed hard. He was the one who was raving mad. He was in the midst of the most ridiculous danger, horse-riding down a mountainside, probably about to die and, in the final few minutes of his life, what was passing through his mind? Not the greatest, most fulfilling moments in this life - but a consideration of his chances of getting laid by Iris . . . and even of getting laid by the Doctor. What was it about Time Lords?
110. BF - 1963: The Assassination Games:
GILMORE: Uh, “man” is something of a misnomer. I think he’s best described as… an outsider.

112. New Who - Dinosaurs on a Spaceship - Eleven tells Solomon about the Schubert music he's playing, "Say hello to hands three and four! Schubert kept tickling me to try and put me off." He then smiles, "'Franz the Hands'. Oh, that takes me back."

114. New Who - Rogue - Fifteen quietly puts on the ring Rogue proposed to him with.
115. IDW - Bodysnatched! - Eleven, swapped into Amy's body tells Rory while applying a bow tie, "I suppose it is more difficult for you - Time Lords don't really worry that much about what sex they are. Romana was a Time Lady and she was easily equal to me. Sometimes anyway, when she didn't use the dog. I'm a woman now. Women are cool."
116. New Who - Closing Time - Elven chats with a saleswoman, Val, who says, "I think you look ever so sweet: you and your partner [Craig] and the baby." He responds, "'Partner', yes I like it. 122. FASA Doctor Who RPG - A Sourcebook for Field Agents:
The Master
This entry contains information on one of Gallifrey's most dangerous enemies, the renegade Time Lord known as The Master. The Master has, in some fashion yet unknown, erased his Biodata entry from the APC Net. As a result, the only information about him that we now possess has been drawn from the memories of the Doctor. It is, therefore, highly subjective, and Time Lords consulting this section should be aware that The Doctor's perceptions do not always correspond with Reality.
Appearance: Height: Average Build: Average Looks: Sinfully attractive Apparent Age: Middle-aged Actual Age: 800+ Number Of Regenerations Used: 12 (now using stolen body) Recognition Handle: Satanic beard; piercing blue eyes; black dress; black gloves.

124. New Who - Wild Blue Yonder - Donna and Fourteen chat about bumping into Isaac Newton. She says, "Was it me... or was Isaac Newton hot?" He replies, "He was, wasn't he? He was SO hot." Fourteen then catches himself, "Oh? Is that who I am now?" Donna then replies, "Well it was never that far from the surface, mate. I always thought..."
125. BF - 1963: The Assassination Games:
DOCTOR: A man after my own heart. GILMORE: Except you’re not a man. DOCTOR: And I have two hearts.
126. TVC - Undercover - Three again disguises himself as a woman to obtain captured information for UNIT.
127. New Who - The Star Beast - Prompted by Rose, Fourteen asks Beep the Meep, "Are you he, or she, or they...?" The Meep responds, "My chosen pronoun is the definite article. I am always, 'the Meep'. He then replies, "Oh, I do that."
128. Titan - Ophiuchus - Nyssa says to Five, "I didn't know that Time Lords could change gender, Doctor." He returns, "Gender is a very fluid concept, Nyssa, for some people more than others. A Time Lord even more so."
129. New Who - The Doctor Dances - Rose tells Nine, "I thought Jack might like this dance." Nine dancing, replies, "I'm sure he would Rose. I'm absolutely certain. But who with?"
130. EDA - The Slow Empire:
Once, there was a man called the Doctor, although he was not precisely a man and that was not his real name.
131. Novelisation - The Day of the Doctor:
‘I’ve been around a bit, Clara, I’m probably married to lots of people, it happens,’ he said, and made a dismissive hand gesture, to suggest that the occasional marriage was really no more than a parking ticket, and a moment later heard a vase smash behind him. He really had to get his peripheral movements under control. ‘But to her, though?’ ‘Oh, to her, to him, to who-knows. Sometimes the conversation just gets out of control. I think I’m even married to Jack Harkness, but there were a lot of people in the room at the time, it was hard to keep track.
132. New Who - The Doctor Dances - Rose remarks about Jack, "And he's vanished into thin air. Why's it always the great-looking ones who do that?" Nine looks up, "I'm making an effort not to be insulted." She then specifies, "I mean... 'men'." He grins and nods, "Okay, thanks, that really helped."
133. NSA - The Good Doctor:
'Scan me again. I’m not loba or human. I’m not man or woman in the way you understand it.'
134. New Who - Boom Town: Jack and Nine flirt with eachother watching Mickey and Rose. Jack starts, "Aw, sweet, look at these two. How come I never get any of that?" Nine, fixing up the TARDIS replies, "Buy me a drink first." "Such hard work..." "But worth it."

rote moments/details that destroy me:
(Spoilers obv)
When Burrich comes all the way to Aslevjal to find out Fitz "died" in the ice a few days earlier
And when Fitz comes back Dutiful's eyes are red because he's been crying, and he can't process it
Burrich names each animal in the stables with so much thought and care, and just calls Fitz "the fitz" and that names sticks
The letter from Burrich to Chivalry about the "colt" that has temperament issues due to "being weaned from his mother too soon"
Fitz and Burrich both get white streaks in their hair
Mere!
Fitz and Chade are natural healers, but are forced to kill
Molly ended up marrying a drunk like her father
Fitz gives all of himself away, even Verity's sword and Burrich's earring (I don't think Burrich wanted to give it to Swift)
Nighteyes dies and Fitz gets no support from the Old Blood community, he's left to mourn alone
And Kettricken doesn't see Nighteyes before he dies
The posies and nosegays Fool thinks Fitz is giving to him are a reference to Molly (her name is Nosegay and her mom calls her a posy)
Fitz thinks about naming Bee Lacey!
The metaphors in the names: Patience is what finally wins Fitz over, Verity has no place in war, Chivalry is dead. Verity is what wins Fitz's loyalty, Patience is an outcast.
And when the characters betray their names? Shrewd was blind to his son's treachery. Verity deceives Fitz. Chivalry falls off his horse. (Chivalry also refers to armed soldiers on horses). Blade sends Fitz to his death, all unknowingly. Dutiful runs away. Chade emerges from the walls when he believes Fitz dead.
Hap playing matchmaker with Fitz and Jinna lmao (calling her pretty, inviting her over, etc.) I think it's because he's worried about Fitz being alone when he leaves for his apprenticeship
When Fool dies and Chade comes over to Fitz, and he assumes Chade has a task for him and is shocked when he offers condolences
What little we learn about Thick's mom is so heartbreaking! She uses her son as a cutpurse, and once tries to abandon him and changes her mind :,(
Blade feels guilty about Fitz until he dies
Hands :(
Patience keeps a lock of Fitz's hair in a locket
Fitz takes on the persona Tom the Shepard, taking bits of both is mothers with him into his fake life. Patience's name for him, and his mother's profession he helped with as a boy

As I have been reading my way through the Fantasy genre, I have found my thoughts constantly returning to Daenerys, and how she fulfils the Chosen One Trope in ASOIAF, and how that compares to the Chosen One Trope in other fantasy books. The one I compare it to the most in my mind is Wheel of Time. Worth noting that the first few WoT books were released before AGOT. When I was reading WoT, and the Farseer Trilogy, I thought about how similar Jon Snow was to both Rand and Fitz. It could be seen as plagiarism im sure by many people. And it would be… if he was the chosen one. But that’s where George sets himself apart. Because Jon Snow isn’t the Chosen one, he is a red herring due to his similarities to these other characters (not knowing his true parentage being the big one). He seems to be set up to play that role in the story… then doesn’t.
I think George makes Danys fulfilment of the prophecy as clear as Rands fulfilment of the prophecy. She awakens the dragons from stone; beneath a bleeding star; amidst salt and smoke. She has her figurative rebirth. The fact this is so hotly debated in the ASOIAF fandom, whereas Rand being the Chosen One of his world, which I imagine isn’t a hot debate, is further evidence that any debate surrounding Dany=AA is mostly due to misogyny. This is something a lot of people in the fandom refuse to acknowledge. They can’t fathom that a girl who doesn’t wield a sword can be the hero of the story.
People state Dany = AA is “too obvious” (whilst simultaneously using that argument to state it isn’t her), that she isn’t a subversive enough choice. She IS the subversion. The Dragons are the subversion. It is not a secret, it is not a plot twist. When has the Chosen One prophecy ever been a secret throughout the majority of the series? How would that work? How could the author accomplish anything if it’s a mystery for the most part? Chosen One Tropes aren’t mysterious. It defeats the purpose of the trope. They are known. And frankly, Dany isn’t even recognised in the world in a widespread fashion as the chosen one. It’s the audience and a few characters that know.
With WoT, the mystery in relation to the Chosen One, is if he’ll succumb to the madness; stay with the Light or go to the dark, that was Jordan’s choice of subversion, in ASOIAF, George chooses to subvert with gender and no literal sword at play (however we do see a play on Exacalibur- pulling dragons from stone). The mystery is how in the FUCK do we get our Hero to Westeros whilst she is hellbent on ending an oppressive regime and having a hard time ending it. THAT is the struggle. That is the mystery.
I also do not believe that Jon is part of the AA/TPTWP prophecy, because if the subversion is that our hero is a little girl, then including him is a cop out and undoes that.

with all the fun book bashings I gotta ask. any recommendations for fantasy series that are actually good? doesn't have to be perfect, but I need more good fantasy. also a few years ago I think I recommended the farseer trilogy and also all other realm of the elderlings book to you, and was wondering if you ever got around to reading those? if not, still recommend, I wanna know your opinion on fitz.
So the Shannara books...or at least the early ones...are maybe not GREAT but they're FUN and the Wishsong of Shannara is one of my favorite books.
The Locked Tomb kicks unreal amounts of ass.
The Lord of the Rings, obviously. Like. C'mon.
The Drizzt Do'Urden books are like. Again not technically great works of literature but fuck me they're fun to read.
The Farseer Trilogy is in fact great you were right! Actually anything by Robin Hobb.
The Blue Sword.
Literally anything Mercedes Lackey ever wrote.
Tamora Pierce. Alanna my beloved

Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 56
One time when a baby was Cyber-converted, they were given regular Cyber-arms as well as a Cybermat tail. (Novel: Illegal Aliens)
Chewing on jelly babies helps the Doctor think. The Eighth Doctor said that the "tensile strength of a jelly baby offers the perfect resistance." (Audio: World of Damnation)
Speaking of jelly babies, the Eighth Doctor once went missing for days because he was looking for the perfect jelly baby. (Novel: The City of the Dead)
Zoe had the Second Doctor install an orthopaedic bed in her room on the TARDIS. (Novel: The Menagerie)
There is such a phenomenon as temporal tsunamis. (Audio: The Other Side)
TARDIS heartbeats must keep a steady rhythm, so when they are parked, they continue to travel through time at the same speed as their pilot. Otherwise, the TARDIS would be lost to the past (if they were traveling at a slower speed) or disappear into the future (if they were going at a faster speed). (Audio: 1963)
On Gallifrey, marriages mainly serve to strengthen political alliances between the different Great Houses and to maintain the Chapter's power. (Audio: Spirit)
Vassar Dust looks somewhat like snow and is always cold. It also has some telepathic qualities. This dust is a byproduct of time travel. (Novel: Loving the Alien)
Ian once woke up inside a Time Museum as an exhibit. He had been removed from his own time with a time scoop. The curator of the museum - Pendolin - had time scooped Ian with the hope of attracting the Doctor’s attention and making him his prized exhibit, but he did not successfully get the Doctor’s attention. (Audio: The Time Museum)
The Doctor kept a bracelet (that appeared to be made of gold) in a trunk in his TARDIS. After regenerating, the Second Doctor retrieved it, looked at it fondly for a short while, and then returned it. Ben saw that it had odd pictures on it but couldn't make it out. (Novel: The Power of the Daleks)
John Benton, Sarah Jane Smith, and Allison Williams were all involved in the clean-up following the Cyberman invasion from The Tenth Planet. (Novel: The Power of the Daleks)
The Doctor thinks of the entire universe as their foster family after their parents had "decided to opt out of their responsibilities." (Novel: Beltempest)
The First Doctor's left hand was cut off in a sword fight with a Soul Pirate captain. He had to get a new one fashioned for him as it did not grow back. (Short story: A Big Hand for the Doctor)
As revenge for his defeat on the Enlightenment, the Black Guardian altered the established timeline. To defeat them, the Seventh Doctor, Ace, and Benny had to reassemble the Key to Time. The following objects are actually segments of the Key to Time: the First Doctor's TARDIS instruction manual, the Second Doctor's stovepipe hat, one of the swords used when Ace fought the Third Doctor, one of the Fourth Doctor’s jelly babies, a cricket ball used by the Fifth Doctor, and the Sixth Doctor's cat badges. (Comic: Time & Time Again)
The Third Doctor used to visit the zoo frequently. He'd often sit across the tiger, feeling some sort of camaraderie with them. He spent some of his wages upgrading the tiger enclosure, but the tiger's mind had already been broken. They continued walking back and forth as though their enclosure was still small. The Doctor decided to be sure that his mind wouldn't also break in his captivity because one day his TARDIS would be fixed and he couldn't stick in his old habits when that happened. (Audio: Walls of Confinement)
On one such visit to the zoo, the Brigadier had the Doctor babysit his godson. The Doctor didn't keep a close enough eye on the boy, and he ended up in the tiger enclosure. (Audio: Walls of Confinement)
Fitz Kreiner once found an old woman in the TARDIS library. Her name was Emily, and she had been dressed in clothes one might expect a teenager to wear in the 1960s. She was also covered in cobwebs. Fitz brought her to the Eighth Doctor, who recognized her and seemed embarrassed about her presence, but Emily didn't recognize the Doctor. (Novel: Mad Dogs and Englishmen) Though never explicitly clarified, Emily had likely entered the TARDIS as a teenager, got lost, and lived her entire life in the TARDIS. As she didn't recognize the Eighth Doctor, this event would have predated his incarnation. Perhaps she was even one of Susan's classmates.

Serafina for Design Magazine 📸✨
EXCLUSIVE with Serafina Palladio: The Visionary Behind Timeless Elegance
Interviewer: Serafina, you’ve established yourself as both a celebrated designer and a sought-after model. How do you balance these two demanding worlds?
Serafina: Honestly, it’s all about prioritizing passion. Interior design is my first love—it’s in my blood, my heritage. Modeling, on the other hand, offers me an entirely different kind of creative expression. While the two can feel like polar opposites, they share a common thread: the art of storytelling. Whether I’m designing a space or walking the runway, it’s about creating an unforgettable experience.
Interviewer: Your work often reflects your cultural roots. How have Tartosa and Mt. Komorebi influenced your aesthetic?
Serafina: Tartosa taught me to appreciate luxury, romance, and bold, timeless designs, while Mt. Komorebi instilled in me a sense of balance and harmony. My work is a marriage of these two worlds—opulence grounded in serenity. Whether I’m designing a client’s dream home or styling for a photoshoot, I try to channel both influences into something authentic and unique.
Interviewer: You work closely with your brother, Lucas, at Palladio Architecture & Design Group. What’s that dynamic like?
Serafina: (Laughs) Intense, but also incredibly rewarding. Lucas is the heir to the company, but we’ve found a way to complement each other’s strengths. He’s meticulous and pragmatic, while I bring more of the creative energy. We challenge each other constantly, which I think is why the firm continues to thrive.
Interviewer: Many people see you as the epitome of confidence, but you’ve been open about your perfectionist tendencies and even moments of jealousy. How do you navigate those emotions?
Serafina: Being a perfectionist can be a double-edged sword. It drives me to excel, but it also means I can be my harshest critic. My jealousy comes from a place of deep ambition, which I’ve learned to reframe as motivation. It’s not about comparing myself to others but about using those feelings to push myself to be better. My dream is to leave a legacy of beauty and meaning—at the end of the day, life is about creating something that lasts
Interviewer: One last question: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Serafina: Trust the process. Life won’t always go according to plan, and that’s okay. Sometimes, the detours lead to the most extraordinary destinations.
(featuring a surprise appearance from Fitz)

The Horse and the Infant
This is the first chapter for the EPIC/KOTLC crossover!! (I know we did the thunder saga already but we had a lot of motivation for that and were really excited to post :D) Hope you guys enjoy!!
taglist: @justalunaticfangirl @myfairkatiecat @bookwormgirl123 @thesfromhms @ham-cheese-toastie
This was it, Fitz told himself. He glanced around the wooden horse at his fleet.
One last battle before he could go home, and one last battle before he could see Sophie and Marella again. Marella would be ten by now—it seemed almost crazy to think about.
"Alright, everyone!" He transmitted to the crowd of 600 men, thinking that talking would reveal their position. "Tonight, the Trojans will regret ever messing with us."
Fitz gestured to Keefe. "Your families are wondering where you've been. Do as I say and you'll see them again."
"Yessir!" The chorus of soldiers whispered as one, and Fitz grinned broadly, the dim lighting making it seem almost mad.
As he was sending out his instructions, Fitz let himself feel happy for one more moment—the war was almost over.
As the crowd dispersed, Fitz sent out a chant: "What do you live for? What do you fight for? What do you wish for?"
Sophie....
That was why he was doing all of this—for Sophie and Marella.
I'll fight for them. Fitz thought firmly.
"Attack!" He roared, and charged into the city, following his men.
Fitz was in the thick of the battle, screams and shouts mixing with the clash of his sword against his opponent's. All at once, his vision dimmed and he collapsed.
An clap of thunder boomed, and when Fitz opened his eyes, he wasn't in Troy anymore. Fitz glanced around, panic clogging his throat.
He seemed to be in the ruins of a city, and upon closer inspection, and a jolt of horror, he realized it was his kingdom. Ithaca.
What had happened? In the ten years he'd been gone, could everything have gone into shambles?
He couldn't—he had to find his men. Fitz needed to help them. They had to win this battle, but how could they do that when Fitz couldn't be with them?
How could he save Ithaca?
As he turned around one last time, a figure appeared. With a huge crackling lightning bolt, the person standing before him could only be Zeus. And, Fitz noticed with confusion, a baby swaddled in his right arm. Maybe he was finally doing child support?
"What was that?" His voice came out shaky, because he just realized that the wound in his side was gone-and so was the pain.
"A vision." Zeus' voice boomed, loud and deep, across the space. "Of what is to come. You can only change it right now."
Fitz didn't even pause before replying, "Tell me how?" His crew needed him, and he wouldn't be any use to them dead.
He wouldn't be any use to Ithaca dead.
Plus, he had to see Sophie.
A rumble of laughter erupted from Zeus. "I don't think you're ready." The god told Fitz.
Fitz bristled, offended but stayed silent as Zeus continued. "You'll need to kill someone's son, someone unlike anyone you've faced before."
Fitz straightened, ready to accept. "I can do this, I promise you."
Once again there was laughter-one that started to annoy Fitz deeply—and Zeus stepped forward and placed the baby in his arms.
Fitz looked down in horror. He couldn't mean—
"This is the son of Prince Hector. If you don't kill him now, he will grow up to kill you." Zeus paused. "If you don't kill him now, you'll have no home to protect."
Fitz shook his head wildly, and stumbled back, trying to think of what to do.
He could take him home with him—Sophie wouldn't mind, he was sure of it.
Fitz could sent the infant far, far away, where he could never find out about his father.
"You'll have blood on your hands either way, Fitz." The god told him, almost like he was reading Fitz's mind. "All you have to do is choose."

kotlc head-cannons (I need to stop)
Warning: a lot about the war with Neverseen. Talk about death and dealing with trauma
Dex starts helping Elwin deal with all the war injuries. He absolutely hates it but desperately looks for anything that makes him “useful”/“valuable” to the group. Sometimes he thinks about his technology mistakes and thinks being a technopath isn’t enough. He’s got the alchemy experience which makes it an easy transition but hates the blood and pain that’s needed to heal.
The experiments Keefe was put through affect him more. For a while, he doesn’t talk at all. Slowly, he starts speaking freely but never again brings his voice above a whisper. As if the volume makes any difference.
So, Sophie gets louder. She tells dumb jokes in hopes that he’ll join in or at least start laughing. It makes her louder about facing the Neverseen, about calling out the discrimination in the elven world.
Biana picks up a sword (or daggers). She’s always been strongest when it comes to tackle bramble, knowing exactly how to knock down her opponents. Woltzer laughs when she asks him to start training her for more than just defense. She turns to Ro, the first person to treat as more than a delicate princess. She becomes an expert, desperately wanting to protect her friends/family.
She learns to take pride in her scars. Even the new ones.
She should have killed Vespera. The scene mirrors the first time they fought, the one that left her with the scars. Vespera and Biana are away from the others, in a rush to protect herself she slashes out with her knife. After all her training, the single slash hits its mark killing Vespera. She didn’t mean to, she swears. She was only protecting herself. Her first kill nearly breaks her, the rest come a bit easier.
Sophie expertly meets with the leaders of all intelligent species. They all enjoy having the Moonlark herself on their side. She becomes the face of the war, the leader. It breaks her heart to make the tragic decisions that come along with it.
Biana becoming her war general.
Somewhere in the books it hints at Sophie, Keefe, Fitz, Biana, and Dex taking over the Black Swan Collective. When it happens, nobody trusts Keefe enough (not even himself) so the position goes to Wylie.
Biana signs up for matchmaking and cries when Dex’s name isn’t on it. Even though she knew he never signed up.
Dex really makes Biana laugh. They tell stupid jokes and can talk about nothing for hours.
They recreate the entire matchmaking system (with the help of Marella, Linh, and Tam).
Biana “Bad Match” Vacker becomes the largest scandal. Even though she’s still too young to even think about marriage and there is an entire war going on. Dex offers to sign up for matchmaking but Biana won’t let him, knowing how much the matchmaking system affected his life.
Biana fell first (choosing Dex who has felt like he was the second choice his entire life) but Dex fell harder (loving Biana who was always chosen by others but for her fame and never for her personality).
It breaks Fitz’s heart to watch his sister choose love over her legacy. Right after he destroyed any chance with Sophie for the same reasons. He really did love her.
Years after the war, after matchmaking was fixed and prejudices were destroyed, Fitz still can’t bring himself to stop being the “golden child.” He becomes a councilor.
Principle Keefe Foster
All of them having to deal with the tragedies of war.
Dex has panic attacks.
Biana hates to sleep alone. She calls for sleepovers all the time. Everyone hated them until they started to realize why. At home she makes Fitz sleep on her floor. At Black Swam hide outs Iggy is her pet more than Sophie’s. On the worst nights she sneaks into other people’s (usually Dex or Sophie) rooms. It’s against the rules so Forkle pretends not to know.
Linh cries all the time and Tam can’t force himself to.
Sometimes Sophie forgets she’s dealing with real people. She makes ruthless decisions until someone takes time to sit down and remind her that everyone’s human.
Including herself, who she forgets to take care of.
Too many emotions make Keefe dizzy. When tragedy strikes, he locks himself in his room until he can calm down. Sometimes spends days in there.
Sometimes it happens for happy feelings too. He celebrates winning the war away from the rest. Eventually Sophie sits outside his door and they celebrate with the wood between them.
Give! Dex! A! Gun! He hates the power it holds and vows to never touch one again. But he did what he had to in order to protect those he loves.
When Marella falls for Linh, she refuses to be quiet about it. Even with the discrimination. She tells Linh all the time that’s she’s amazing and absolutely mesmerizing. She keeps saying these things until Linh learns to love herself. Eventually forgetting her fears and admitting that she’s in love with Marella.
Elwin adopts Keefe after the war, even though he’s old enough that he doesn’t need a guardian. They have family game nights and weekly dinners.
Linh is taller than Tam.
