I had an AU when I was a kid and decided to revamp it, I present my AU: AUtopsy, an Undertale AU
Tumblr media
I explained in the previous post a brief summary of the AU, Chara's post, anyway, here is Frisk, who in my AU was in Papyrus' place, but different from him, here he is more of an "explorer" wanting instead of being a royal guard, wanting to be more like a kind of scientist, he catalogs everything that is new, his knives, different from Chara, are more heart-shaped, he is more of a nerd, the type that loves to stay in the library.
Before you ask, yes, Chara and Frisk are adults in this AU, reason, the story takes place in the peaceful route, spending YEARS in this Frisk is no longer a child, not to mention that again, I'm terrible at explaining, but just as Chara had his script bugged, and in this he "took" both Sans' gender, he also took the age, as if Sans was only half as old, Frisk took the age and gender of Papyrus, being non-binary but more masculine, and in this being younger than Chara, but in exchange he is a few cm taller than Chara.
Again I'm terrible at explaining but I hope you can understand a little

How to tell if you are a true undertale lover and you have reached peak Fandom:
You get/got sick and tired of Megalovania, but you know it's still an incredibly good theme so you look out for remixes of it.
You love Sans and Papyrus but you chose someone else as your favourite character. (For me it is Asriel).
You appreciate every single monster in the game, including Flowey and every encounter, EXCEPT Jerry.
You thought of your own AU, even tho you probably didn't even share it with anyone…
You have registered Undertale (Or any au really) as a word on your phone because it kept correcting to undertake.
You see either Frisk, Chara, Napstablook or Mk as either a male or female or a they but you know that you should refer to them as a they/them because that's what Asriel did.
If you want to give Chara, Mk, Napstablook or Frisk a gender then you give it a good explanation like; They were put through transgender therapy (This exists irl) or a vessel for Napstablooks case.
You spend time on the Undertale subreddit reading a post from a guy talking about things you can relate to because you have some free time.
Know that Undertale Yellow isn’t canon.
If you want to make anyone remember resets in your au then: See if they do in canon, have them be Gaster, have Gaster do something, have some level of determination, being given this ability by leaving their au and/or Flowey’s help.
@v@ I um,,, dunno how to reply to this, so I’m gonna go on a small tangent! (Light heartedly, genuinely no hate here)
I’m sure this is meant positively ? It could even be a copypasta!! However I am a firm believer that as long as your having fun with a media it doesn’t really matter
Once you start looking at fandom like a competition— it becomes less fun for you and others— and may make others feel bad for simply being different or make others feel better than those who are different.
Feeling superior to anyone who is the opposite of these isn’t fair to anyone, feeling superior to people with these isn’t fair to anyone either— but this makes it sound like it’s hard set rules you have to follow in order to be a true fan , and that’s just not the right mindset to have in fandom :(
In reality these seem to be just your opinions, which is fine— they are nice and there’s nothing wrong with it! You don’t need to change them at all !! But holding anyone to the standards of that in a hobby (something meant for fun) and thinking anyone else is less than isn’t nice; it’s not a competition ! :((
I find myself relating slightly to a few of these, but mostly my feelings and thoughts on them are all complicated and not just one or the other— In either case that I count against or not though I don’t really care if I’m a true fan if the requirements are that strict :( I’m just happy to have fun and be in my own little corner, and hopefully; I’ll be joined by people who want to have fun like I do.
Plus; I know UTY isn’t canon but I myself consider it to be ^^ it doesn’t mean I wanna go ahead and force Toby to make it canon but I also don’t appreciate being called worse for simply liking to imagine it is. I think that’s just as bad as doing what I stated above (forcing people to think it’s canon and forcing people to think it’s not canon are effectively the same thing and both equally stupid— just because one thing is annoying doesn’t mean the other is ok)
I’ve been here for years all together(I used to be a sans fangirl and know like way too much about undertale in general; never posted though)— though recently joined back. I never got to post before but I’ve seen this fandoms wars and just fandom wars in general. Even then, I’m more into undertale with UTY attached to it these days too so that’s my take :o call me a fake fan, but.. I think i’d rather be happy with what I’m doing now.
Sorry for looking into this a bit too deeply! No hate to you anon, mainly used this as a way to hop on a soap box and share my feelings :3 I’m sure you don’t actually think ppl are less than if your the opposite— or meant to force your opinions onto others !!
Thank you for stopping by!

Going to post some aus here cus im bored
Undertale
Council of the fallen au
Basically while the sans aus fight for the fate of the multiverse, theres a council made up of purely frisk and chara aus that actually oversee the multiverse, by either getting threats too big for the skeletons to handle, politics, or various other responsibilities. They also work keep the councils existence a secret from the sanses, as they dont want to deal with their shit. The council is primarily up of fallen children from the original version of their au, with those from copy aus being far less prominent and generally only included when their au is significantly different from the original version of their au. Also core fridk is op as hell cus why not
Mha and undertake crossover: homicide edition
Alphys builds a machine to traverse different worlds instead of just, alternate universes and the machine malfunctions whilst frisk is visiting with flowey, sending them into mha while alphys is still in undertale trying to figure out a way to actually bring them back. Frisk gets thrown into the l.o.v base whilst chara gets dumped at ua. Leading to frisk staying with the league because of reasons I'm still working out and chara getting stuck at ua because more reasons that i haven't fully fleshed out yet. Chara struggles to not kill every human in their immediate vicinity while frisk takes up violence and ends up saving magne with ability to basically time-travel via death. Frisk isn't totally innocent in this and has complicated feelings regarding the genocide route but absolutely hates San's guts and has no regrets when it comes to killing him. Chara has a twisted morality and difficulty feeling and expressing emotions, though not a complete inability to. Flowey is a menace to everyone who crosses his path and steals souls while the humans look for the homicidal flower. Also monster kid may end up there too somehow. This popped into my head a few days ago so its not well constructed or thought out. The reason i called this homicide edition is cause frisk has a gun and shoots somebody (overhaul), flowey steals childrens souls to become asriel and find the other two, and chara is stuck as the only one unable to enact their fantasies of killing the human race.

[ID: Simple diagram of a three-act structure.]
Ooooooh, this is very very good. Also the way you arrange the different runs into 'acts', with Neutral being Act 1, Pacifist being Act 2, and No Mercy being Act 3, I feel like that just gives even more weight to Flowey's monologue near the end of No Mercy. Because that's exactly the order Flowey went through things! Well, not exactly, but the general vibe is there!
First, the Neutral Runs. You describe the player gathering information about the 'rules' of the world and how the meta aspects work through several Neutral Runs, most being very unfulfilling. After Flowey woke up, he described being very confused at his new form. He spent time with both Asgore and Toriel, trying to regain what he once had, and understand everything that had changed around him. At the end of this first 'run' by accident he makes the last significant discovery--Reset. After some experimentation, he learns what Reset really means and what it can do.
After this person, he moves into his Act 2. Flowey describes a period where he deliberately tried to give everyone a perfect ending. After a while of doing this, however...he gets bored. He doesn't immediately leap to the No Mercy in Act 3, but he begins a steady descent. He tells himself he's only doing this stuff because he HAS to. Because he's so curious. He saves everyone, he kills everyone. He's read every book, he's burned every book. By the time Frisk falls into the Underground, Flowey is well into Act 3 but hasn't quite gotten past the climax. Sans has caused him to endlessly reset, and he's never gotten past Asgore and to the Souls--not without Frisk catching him off-guard so very badly, and letting them land hits on him.
So describing the various routes one can undertake in such a way is incredibly interesting, because it seems like it's deliberately meant to mirror Flowey's arc throughout his backstory. We knew that Flowey is meant to be a sort of foil/mirror to the Player, of course, but it's really really cool that our journey was MEANT to echo his, and we only find out once we've gone further along his path than he ever actually managed. When it's impossible to ever properly get a straightforward 'happy ending' again. Because you just HAD to see what happened, didn't you?
And then at the very end, there's nothing left to see anymore. Just Chara expressing bafflement on how you STILL can't let go and move on, and telling you to move on already, in harsher and more blunt terms than Flowey does at the end of True Pacifist. (I've always found their dialogues kinda mirroring each other to be really cool, and thought 'Let Frisk live their life'/'Let us erase this pointless world and move on to the next' were meant to be their own ways of conveying the same idea--the game is over. It's time to let everyone rest.)
It kinda makes me wonder if the Weird Route will be intended to reflect someone else's path. Dess or Gaster seems like the most obvious choice to the majority of the fandom, but personally I have to wonder about whatever entity used to go into that bird cage...
Something interesting about the way Toby Fox writes his more obscure alternate paths is the way he assumes a lot about what the player knows. Snowgrave and the No Mercy route share commonality not only in their grim tone but also in the way they forego establishing things that act as payoffs later. It’s interesting because his approach isn’t really to ignore a traditional 3 act structure so much as it is slicing and splicing it.
Tumblr media
“It’s a beautiful day outside” is a parallel to a line that doesn’t even appear directly within the narrative of No Mercy and so the warping of it from Asgore’s “Perfect weather for a game of catch.” into Sans’ “Should be burning in hell.” doesn’t even necessarily exist to a hypothetical player who did No Mercy before anything else. Snowgrave doesn’t even show you Spamton until the very end, until then he’s just a dumpster with a weird speech impediment. A lot of the big payoffs and crazy twists are, at least contained within their own runs, not even really established at all. It’s as if the story started in act 2 and just assumed you knew what was going on, and yet this works.
One could argue that Undertale DOES in fact have a 3 act structure, but that each act is a full 3 act narrative within itself, because of the nature of what a “save” or a “run” means in the story. The average player’s act 1 might be a neutral run, or even several neutral runs. Within this “act”, they are introduced to and acquire an understanding of the meta rules behind the otherwise seemingly traditional concept of the save file, as well as how the choice to fight or act does very much affect the narrative. Act 2 would likely be a pacifist run, an application of all this knowledge to try and score the best, “true” ending, after being unsatisfied with the neutral runs’ bittersweet farewell phone calls and lackluster “roll credits” vibe.
This would make act 3, obviously, No Mercy. No Mercy does not establish certain things because Toby Fox knows, or at least very much expects, that you already know what’s happening, what you’re doing, and why. I feel like the way the post-pacifist True Reset is presented almost frames it as some kind of tantalizing, selfish indulgence. Coupled with the way you’re only really given a brief glimpse into the new lives of all these characters and this world you just spent all that time falling in love with, it really feels like the intent was to make the player want to have another go. To see more, whatever they can get. I feel like it really sets you up for going for No Mercy.
To return to where I was going with this, I think No Mercy’s “payoffs” are so impactful in spite of their lack of self-contained setup, because everything from all your other runs “comes together” by kind of not coming together at all. The fact that it entirely removes certain memorable moments that appear in literally any other run regardless of what you might do is something I see as a final, ultimate way to cash out on that overarching theme of the importance of your choices. You’ve stopped exploring the world and are now exhausting it. The narrative shifts from the characters (due in no small part to your systemic “removal” of them) and focuses more on you.
Nobody’s bringing up Asgore throughout your entire journey, or warning you about Undyne. These things don’t get setup not only because of the fact that in-universe anyone who might have been there to spout that exposition is actively fleeing from you, but also because the game KNOWS the only reason you got here is because you’ve seen it before, that you know this world and it’s characters so well that all that’s left for you to see is their total destruction. The story you chose was to destroy it, to forcibly remove the actors and be left with an empty stage. No Mercy doesn’t have nearly as much of a second act as other runs. Snowdin is almost typical, there’s still some skeleton antics, albeit interrupted, and Waterfall still sees you encountering Undyne and is otherwise pretty characteristically quiet, but once you reach Hotland and The CORE, nothing really happens there anymore. You pretty much skip straight from the midpoint to the climax and there wasn’t even really a first act. You’ve almost literally slashed right through the story, and I think that in and of itself is a huge story moment.
To reiterate, in allowing you to completely restructure the story, Undertale’s No Mercy route drives home the weight of your choices in an extremely unique way. The fact that it is assumed that the player knows certain things about the world and they are treated as such almost feels like being called out. Like Toby Fox is saying “So THIS is what you wanted to do after putting in all that effort to help all of them? I KNOW you already got the best ending, was that not enough for you? Couldn’t you have just let them be?” It is a truly masterful approach; upturning traditional narrative structure and using it as leverage for a theme and uniquely memorable moments that simply would not hold the same weight if presented in any other way.

Undertale x TPOH Crossover
A fun idea a friend and I have been bouncing around!!! This is part one of a masterpost for all our ideas since we had m a n y. Not really any rhyme or reason to this, just some key points and things. Hope you enjoy!
The worlds suddenly got merged and all the characters need to learn the rules of how each other’s worlds work
RGB becomes the tired and reluctant dad man for not only Hero, but Frisk as well. Much job, very dad
Sans and RGB don’t vibe
Someone asks Papyrus and RGB to trade outfits and Papyrus looks snazzy, but RGB fights with his dying breath to avoid taking part
Spoiler alert: he loses the battle
Spoiler alert 2.0: he does not look snazzy
Frisk and Hero also do an outfit swap!
PTA is a riot and RGB learns what dad mode truly means
In this AU, Frisk is mute or at least nonverbal
Hero and Frisk super duper vibe
Flowey is so tired because “Oh no… there are two of them…”
RGB has to babysit Flowey, and it ain’t pretty. Flowey gets flashbacks from Mr. TV Head about back when he was in Omega form and was killing Frisk over and over
His flower pot is placed in RGB’s room, so they have a shared nightmare which results in Flowey “sleepwalking” and sorta kinda maybe possessing RBG. Whoops?
Gaster also sees a potential vessel in RGB and takes over his body to type cryptic messages in Wing Dings on his screen. Frisk and Hero get confused but Sans knows what’s up, and he isn’t happy about it
RGB learns really quickly that Frisk is a sweetheart who just wants to help everyone, but now that their worlds are merged, they have to look out for Fears, and RGB tries to tell them that these are creatures that cannot be saved or reasoned with. He struggles to explain that they may be moving and seemingly alive, but they are just embodiments of feelings and ideas, they’re beyond help. But Frisk is….. like… baby tho, so they don’t get it
They try to help the Fears anyway and end up really hurt. Flowey drags them out of the mess, Sans handles the Fears and RGB carries Frisk to safety to get them taken care of. He feels guilty and watches over them, sometimes playing cartoons for them on his screen. Hero comforts them and sympathizes with the trauma of dealing with Fears

Phew, look at all those panels!
And jeez Flowey, lay on the foreshadowing a bit thick there, ey?
*And it wasn't that the human was transparent.*
*It was that their soul shone so brightly so as to be seen through them.*

I had an AU when I was a kid and decided to revamp it, I present my AU: AUtopsy, an Undertale AU
Tumblr media
I present: chara in this au in a brief summary: error sans tried to destroy this au but ink tried to restore it by making a huge mess, completely changing the characters (it's not like swaptale I swear!!) it works like this, the "monster" characters had their species changed, mixed, so (I'll use chara as an example) chara who was human switched places with sans, and in this his species became "hybrid" being able to change his goat form to human at will, but staying more in goat form when he uses his power, I wanted to explain better but I'm terrible at it
chara switched places with sans, not being lazy but rather loose, being very sarcastic, it is worth mentioning that frisk and chara are non-binary, they DO NOT HAVE A GENDER: but as the "scripts" changed, it is as if chara took the gender of sans, becoming a boy, but still being non-binary, only more masculine (again I am terrible at explaining :P)

So I was thinking, like, which element each member of the main cast would be? And no one stopped me so here you go.
Frisk-
Frisk is fire. They burn through the underground, sowing new seeds or leaving nought but ashes alike, and they are the spark that finally ignites true change.
Chara-
Chara is water. They keep going, no matter what, and they leave deep marks on the paths they tread. In the end, though, each of their paths are laid out for them by another.
Asriel/Flowey
The prince acts for air, quick to act but lacking follow through. His anger, too, is akin to a tornado. It’s hugely destructive and damaging, but if you can weather it, he’ll soon act as if nothing ever happened.
Toriel-
The magic she uses reflects her personality, clearly, because she’s fire. She’ll dedicate herself to the tasks she chooses to undertake, and burn through the work required, but she won’t look for more, instead merely taking what is given. If her fuel is removed, too, she’ll gutter, and go out.
Sans-
Sans plays the part of air, acting flighty and flitting to and fro, but when you push past the illusions, he grounds himself in earth. Sans is solid and reliable, a steady hand to hold. He doesn’t do much on his own unless pressed, but what he does he does well. His anger is difficult to rouse, but when you do, he’s like an earthquake, an unstoppable force of nature come to crush you alive.
Papyrus-
Papyrus is water, cool and calm. He takes the shape of his container, following the lead of those he trusts, but when his container doesn’t fit him, he’ll leave it. He’s always looking for a way around conflict, and he often finds one. He’s brittle, like ice, though. When you throw him against something hard and unyielding? He shatters.
Undyne-
Fire and water are what you expect to see from Undyne, but at her core? Air. When first you meet her, she’s like a hurricane, angry and unstoppable and coming right at you. And then, she just… leaves. When next you see her, she gusts a bit, but it doesn’t take her long to seemingly forget the fight entirely.
Alphys-
Alphys is earth. She roots herself in anxiety, in lies and deception, but she roots herself nonetheless.
Asgore-
Asgore is water. His people cannot survive without him, and he drowns the humans in his own guilt and anger, one by one. He, too, refuses to consider his options, refuses to do anything other than dig the rut deeper, and his anger is like ice, cold and unyielding and slowly killing everything around it through his stagnation.

Further proof that Sans is a revenant... and that he was once human
In this Wikipedia article about revenants in fiction, a revenant is defined as “a sentient creature whose desire to fulfill a special goal allows it to return from the grave [...] Another possibility is that a powerful wizard returns a dead hero from the past to make him go on a quest that no living human would dare to undertake. Such a revenant may be just as intelligent as it was in life but its will is usually bound by the wizard who summons and controls it.”
Sans, as we know, resembles a human skeleton, and skeleton monsters are typically classified as members of the undead. After befriending Toriel, she asks him to protect any human that comes out of the Ruins, and Sans agrees; in other words, Toriel had assigned Sans a “special goal”, like a wizard might give a revenant. (Granted, he was garbage at accomplishing this goal, but hey, he doesn’t kill Frisk unless Genocide happens, so... he kinda didn’t fail at it?)
Also, if Sans truly is a member of the undead, it would make sense that he only has 1 HP-- he is barely clinging to life as it is because he’s a walking skeleton. (Unfortunately, it makes Papyrus a confusing matter, as he has far more HP than Sans does... unless Papyrus has EXP under his belt, but that’s another post altogether.)
What all of this means is simple: Gaijin Goomba’s theory about Sans being a revenant is technically correct!
Toby Fox has hinted repeatedly that his next game will be about W.D. Gaster, whom Sans has deep connections with. We just might find out Sans’ origins in this new game, so if it turns out he really is a revenant, then his circumstances and motivations in Undertale were serving as a huge hint towards that!
I should also mention that if Sans is indeed a former human, then it would explain his strange power of “teleportation”... in that it’s not actually teleportation at all! You know how, when he takes Frisk to Grillby’s, he seems to stop all time and space surrounding him and Frisk so they can privately discuss Flowey? It’s very possible that Sans’ shortcuts are nothing more than him stopping time using the power of his limited human-brand determination, then casually moseying out of the room. And just to mess with people, he exits the room in the wrong direction before freezing time, only go back in the right direction without them realizing it.
Actually... if Sans has determination, maybe it makes even more sense that he only has 1 HP. Papyrus mentions Sans “constantly emitting slime”, which could be a joke, but could also be a reference to how when monsters are given large concentrations of determination, they start to melt and become slimy and sticky. This is a result of them losing what little physical form they have, so wouldn’t it make sense that Sans has so little physicality to him due to him that he has only 1 HP? And because he was once human, he is able to withstand that determination better than most monsters.
Whew, what a post! But I think I finally understand Sans now, at least until Toby’s next game.
... But what about Papyrus?
