I have a theory. A Book Nerd Theory.

So. In the Percy Jackson series and Greek myths, in the afterlife there are many possible ways to get past the River of Styx and into The Realm of Hades (or the Underworld in general, death by naturallity); Fields of Bliss, Asphodel, Tartarus, The Fields of Punishment, (unmentioned, but part of the actual Greek mythological accuracy) and the Field of Mourning. In Bliss, you can try to reincarnate five times to go to where the truly best of the best go to: The fields of Elysium, the best place to spend your Greek afterlife.

This is a cross section analysis of the Percy Jackson series and EPIC: The Musical; both of which were inspired by Greek myths and, more specifically, Homer's The Odyssey (AKA an EPIC adventure).

This contains spoilers for the new saga for EPIC: The Musical and Percy Jackson and The Olympians, by the way.

So, when we first meet Annabeth, one of the wisest demigod children of Athena at Camp Half-Blood, she is taking care and looking over Percy in the infirmary/Apollo cabin after he got into the fight with the Minotaur. One of the first and most memorable things she says to Percy is that he talks in his sleep.

In EPIC: The Musical, Odysseus (aka "Ody") has just sacrificed the remaining member of his crew to Zeus to appease Helios for killing Helios' best friends/prize cattle, and after Zeus launches a lightning bolt into the ship and Ody is incapacitated and drifts onto a lone, unfindable island named Ogygia. Ogygia is the unfindable island where the sorceress -and daughter of the titan, Atlas- Calypso is held prisoner, where any man that drifts onto her shores, she is permitted to marry until the gods decide that the man's punishment has been dealt with and is permitted to go onto a boat that goes to any part of the ocean at random and the Ogygia disappears into a new location.

After Calypso wakes Ody up, she comments that she thought he was dead until she managed to wake him up. She also commented that Ody talks in his sleep, saying (singing, whatever), "Did you know you talk in your sleep? Tell me though, who's Penelope?" as he starts to get his bearings and observes his surroundings. Annabeth And Percy meet in a similar fashion.

Instead of asking Percy "who's Penelope," she instead comments, rather bluntly, on how Percy drools in his sleep. I'm joking, though, not about how they first met... Well not Annabeth and Percy anyways.

When Calypso and Percy meet after getting spewed out of a volcano, also on the verge of death, a bit after Calypso wakes Percy up, saying, "‘You talk in your sleep... [Response from Percy]. Who is Annabeth?’

You see where I'm going with this? Probably lol.

But like, think about it, Ody started in Greece made it to Rome and succeeded in destroying Troy.

Percy started from a form of Greece, crossed the Mediterranean (Mare Nostrum), and slowed the progress of Gaia (while destroying most of Rome and getting sent to Tartarus, but that's not important right now).

Also, EPIC: The Musical Odysseus never (technically) cheats on Penelope, and Percy never (technically on purpose) cheats on Annabeth, despite many distractions for a very good looking teen of his age (I am around his age, shut up, I'm allowed to say that).

Also, Annabeth can be reincarnated Penelope, but there's not as much evidence to support that than Percy being Ody.

Also, think of Odysseus, the person Poseidon absolutely DESPISED with a watery passion, being his favorite son in a different life is absolutely hilarious to me lmao

First to business, the running fanfic is going well. Is what I would've said if I hadn't already completely finished it, forgot to save it online, and post it the day afterwards, and had my beautiful work of art's progress deleted faster than Trophonius cutting off Agamethus' head.

Long story short, I have to restart it, beginning from the very shoddy middle again.

Damn, it seems I'm missing a lot of lore. But I hope things get better from here on. I hope your dad takes you to the PRIDE convention and gets you the binder. You deserve it. (This is an alt @ghostkingdiangelo429 account btw.) You are awesome, and amazing, and genuinely one of the best persons I've ever met.

I should probably exchange some of my experiences too, then.

When I first came out (in middle school, after figuring out I was gay in Elementary/primary school), I came out to my mom, and I was crying, saying I wanted to become trans, because I didn't realize men liking other men was okay. She said she understood, and that she'd love me no matter how I looked or who I dated. Later, when my dad cam him, a few minutes for bed, my mom told my dad I had something to tell him. I was scared, because I didn't know how he'd react. He's reacted poorly (poorly is used very lightly) to me telling him stuff about my life. So when I told him the first time, he was disappointed. He said that this is just a phase and not let the stuff I watch on T.V. influence my choices. But it didn't. It never did. I always knew this.

Around two years later, I decided to become genderfluid until I went into adulthood and I could get GRAS done. My mom was still supportive of me, and I told her everything about my life. I could never do that with my dad, though. Because the next time I came out, it was because my brother told my dad that I liked men still (he's ten months younger than me). And I lashed out at my dad, saying "Fine! Yes! I am gay, happy I told you?!" and he got really pissed. That's when he started taking away stuff from me for liking men. (It was also around this time where someone tried gr0p1ng me, which becomes important later)

Flash forward to Freshman year in highschool (last year). My dad took away my phone, kicked me out, and when I got it back, he stole my phone to use as his and spy on me, so I'm not continuing being gay. I still am. And I still Identify as genderfluid. My mom and my father got into messy fights, a lot. And yes, they broke up/divorced, but it was for the best. My father was (and still is) a narcissistic abuser to me, my three other brothers, and even still to my mom, even though she moved out a year ago, and is living with my stepdad now (he's cool, and he doesn't mind the fact I'm gay and stuff, at all). My mom takes me and my older brother to hang out with our boyfriends (respectively), and she supports my actions and everything.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, that I had people like your mom and little brother in my life too (trust me, it's very annoying to deal with them still), and I also have a fair share of people in my life like your dad. And as long as one person supports you in your family, then you really don't need anyone else. Stay safe, and drink tons of water. I hope things bet better for you, and your situation with your parents gets resolved.

I’m sorry that you’re having to go through that, you deserve better.

First of all, I would like to say that your mother is being really unfair in the way she treats you. You should be able to express yourself, and feel comfortable in your own body.

I would maybe try talking to her about how you feel. “Hey mom, when you did ___, it made me feel ___”

Communication is very important, and can help your mom understand better.

Maybe try talking to her about why you want to get a binder. Explain that it’s to aid you in feeling comfortable in your own body. Maybe send her links and resources to help understand you better as well.

The Trevor Project has a LOT of resources, and they are very informative and thorough while simultaneously being calm and patient in their explanation of the topics they cover.

Secondly:

Your brother.

I’m sorry that he’s doing that. It’s not fair, and your feelings are real and valid.

It seems that he is younger than you, yes?

If so, then it makes sense that he copies you.

Younger siblings tend to copy their older siblings.

They do that because, believe it or not, they really admire you, and they want to be just like you because in their eyes, you’re the coolest person ever.

it’s your brother’s way of saying that he thinks his older brother is so cool and awesome, and that he loves and cares for you.

That doesn’t mean it’s ok, or that the way you feel is wrong.

Maybe try to explain how you feel to him.

“Hey, when you do ___, it makes me feel ___”

Not only is it an effective way of putting your feelings to words, and communicating them, it also sets a good example for your brother.

It lets him know that it’s ok to feel and express emotions, and it shows him a way in which he can properly do so.

Lastly:

You’re doing great dude, and you’re trying your best, that’s all that matters.

I also have links for binder information, and I would send them to her… but she’s weird. She’ll see it as constant talk, too much work, not worth the money and research, etc. but when I DONT bring it up again, she’ll forget. I’m stuck. I’m just gonna wait until my dad has a chance to take me to a local lgbt center that gives them out. I don’t know when that will be though, as I can feel the weight of my parents about to get divorced (more in my first vent) like a boulder over all of us, and there not one but TWO hurricanes coming our way.

also my family hardly supports me. They act like the things that make me- well, me, don’t exist, unless we’re alone. They won’t use my name or pronouns, they won’t even acknowledge it. The most I get is them sometime calling me their ‘child’ or ‘offspring’ instead of ‘daughter’, but now it just feels… weird. Detached. Replaceable. Don’t get me wrong, SOEMTIMES they try. My dad took me to pride. My dad calls me my preferred name sometimes when my mom and brother take trips. Notice how only my dad does this, and only on rare occasions…? And it’s not even bc it’s ‘new’, I’ve been out to them with different things since I was ten, and I came out to them as trans and pan almost a year ago now (I’ve been identifying with those labels for two years now)

communication doesn’t work in my family. It never has, and it never will. I’ve tried. So. Many. Times. And they’ve lost all of their chances. So until they acknowledge who I am, I think I’m gonna keep preferring my chosen family instead. Can’t wait to go no contact with these guys one day…

Steven Universe

Steven is such an amazing character. All the characters are well done, and their progression is amazing. So are the songs. My favorite ones by far are the intro (We Are The Crystal Gems), Love Like You, Ruby Rider, It's Over Isn't it? (basically the entire original series soundtrack), Happily Ever After (Reprise and original), and the personal character songs in the movie all together. There's not much singing in Steven Universe Future (from what I can remember) which sucks personally for me, because their personal voices are so beautiful and just amazing in general. Also, This version of Steven???

2. EPIC: The Musical

Jorge Rivera-Herrans is amazing, and awesome. Telemachus is my favorite character, personally, mostly because like- goofy goober man.

3. Ride The Cyclone

HA! The things I could say about this musical are indefinite. Ocean O'Connell Rosenberg is probably one of the most well done characters beside the entire rest of cast. Ocean started off being that preppy jerk you hate, but ended up being one of my favorites because of how she grows from being the character who thinks she deserves the prize because she's better than everyone else, but ends up giving it up. My other favorite character is Constance Eleanor Blackwood. She grows up to be ashamed for being the daughter of the mayor, she is ashamed of her town, but in the end, she ends up excepting that she lived a happy life. Oh, by the way, they are choir kids, who died in a roller coaster incident on the Cyclone in Uranium City Saskatchewan, Canada. Also, there's queer representation in it (he wishes he lived in a life where he could love a man passionately without caring about id the people around him worrying that he'd be shamed... by being a woman of the night in Post-War France.) Anyways, 10/10, would recommend to everyone I meet. Also, unpopular opinion, Space Age Bachelor Man did NOT eat up.

OOC rant ahead

Being in "love" for me is so weird. One moment I'm like, "Oh, they're cute, I should ask them out" and the next day I go "I want to talk to them, but I'm scared to do it, so I guess you don't like anyone for a whole week, lmao."

I've had this one crush on this one dude (I use dude gender neutrally, hush), and I've been slowly working up the courage to talk to them. It went from "Weird Italian letters, saying I like you, but I don't talk to you," to "Happy birth. Have another bracelet!" to "I think you're very sweet, so I'm gonna give you candy every day, as much as possible, and add another word the vocabulary you limitedly know me by."

It went from, extended rants in italian about me explaining my sexuality to them, to distancing myself because self esteem, and then giving gifts randomly, to you know what? candy. "Hiii"

Which is weird, because my love languages are quality time and physical touch. I never liked receiving gifts from people because I didn't want them to waste their money on me, so I started telling people to just make me stuff out of stuff they already had. But as soon as I gave them a gift, I found it as a way to slowly work up the courage to actually talk to them.

Btw, it really doesn't help that you apologize for every small little misfortunate thing to happen to you, because you're a naturally clumsy goober man, who got yelled at for trying to be nice in a family full of dense idiots, who think that you shouldn't wash your hands after using the bathroom. At. All. Even before and during cooking (Except my mom and stepdad), which is why I am the one usually cooking because, hell no, I do not want to get sick by your unhealthy life stylistic choices, you dense radioactive nimrods. I feel like the notable outlier in my family. I'm trying to get a job, I'm working to help the environment and clean up my school, all while balancing FFA and trying to learn about tree diseases, tree equipment, and how to identify trees down to the specific genus, for a CDE.
