Worse headlines had been made about her in the past. Difficult to work with. Who was she feuding with? Sleeping with? It was easy enough to ignore when it didn't bother her. But it didn't mean she couldn't take some amusement from it. Her heels clicked with each step, heading inside the bar, and pushes the sunglasses off of her face. Her gaze swept over the people inside until she spotted Jaemin. Her lip quirked up into a smirk as she headed over to him. "Didn't expect me to be back so soon, did ya?" she asked in greeting once she'd gotten his attention. "But apparently we're lovers, so I figured I might as well." Not that she'd slept with him. Yet. She rolled her eyes and showed him the article on her phone. A photo accompanied it, the pair of them close and cozied up together at one of the booths. "At least it's a cute picture of us," she shrugged. "I'm half-tempted to make it my profile pic just to mess with people." Her manager would have a field day with that.

jieun stays quiet and waits until his words sink in. she is aware of what she’s doing, putting words in his mouth and pushing him away before things become too catastrophic for her to handle. it isn’t fair to him or her for her to cling onto old habits that are remnants of her past failures of relationships. “i do.” she responds quietly with a nod, refraining herself from closing off again. she hasn’t always been so jaded, so eager to self-sabotage. “i want it to work if it’s with you.”

"Ooh, fancy," she joked. She wasn't sure how many times she'd gone to places like that with him before. Maybe only for special occasions or something that involved either their families or friends. But that did help with figuring out how she should look for their date. It was an unusual thought, if only because she'd never had to put too much thought into how she looked when around Kyungtae. MJ smiled softly, warmth rising to her cheeks at the compliment. "Okay. I'm sure I'll find something." Probably a dress the more she thought about it. She knew there were a few in her closet she rarely wore since the occasion never called for it. Now that everything was set, she did have to admit to be a little nervous. "I can't remember the last time I went out on a date," she stated.
"Perfect," he breathed out in relief. He never thought that he would have asked her out before but there was a first for everything. Especially everything that had taken place over the last few days, it reassured him more than it wasn't a regretful mistake. Kyungtae wanted their first date to be nice and he had an idea in mind of where to go. It was a nice place and carried a more mature and elegant vibe, but he felt that for their first date, it deserved to be nice. "I will tell you it's a pretty classy place, but I want our first date to be nice. Think of steak and wine kind of vibes." He went on to admit with a small but shy smile. "I think you always look nice. But I think I'm going to wear a dress shirt, nothing too out there. Whatever you feel the most comfortable wearing in that kind of setting, that's what I encourage." Kyungtae mused happily.

Raina kept cursing herself for giving in an even mentioning something to Nick about the t-shit, she should have kept walking away and leave this in the past but there was something about her ex that didn’t let him just... pretend nothing happened. Until now, she had felt she was over him but it only took a few seconds, two minutes max, and she was already affected by it. It didn’t help that Nick followed her, making her cross her arms over her stomach as she frowned to nothing in particular. “Ha, ha. Even if you asked me to, I wouldn’t do it.” Raina pointed out, not giving him the right to be the only sarcastic one. Ignoring his compliment, Rae didn’t bulge to look at him. “Sure, as soon as I get home I’ll send it to you.” Not that she wanted to, though, as much as she hated to admit it, she loved the shirt, its design and how comfortable and nice the worn-out cotton felt on her body but maybe she should return it to its owner to finally move on. “Don’t you have somewhere to go instead of stalking me? Practice that you’ll make it on time for once?” She asked, judging by the guitar on his back, Raina imagined Nick had practice or something.

it was supposed to be a joyous day for the screenwriter. his script was picked up by a respected company and the start of a production was always the most exciting. he didn’t expect the tone of his day to have changed in only a minute as headlines caught his eye and for the news regarding his boyfriend to be plastered on every forum. it is almost ironic enough to be hilarious — he’s the person to write dramas, not the one to be sinking it in. “oh, so you can explain this? enlighten me.” his gaze remains cold yet scorching all at once as he waits for the man to explain himself and whatever fiasco he’s been caught in the middle of. jongin rummages for his phone in the pocket of his jeans, before swiftly clicking on the screen. “you have one minute.”

Her forehead rested against the front door. Ushering her ex-husband and her children out the door shouldn't have been such an ordeal, but Neil insisted on making it one. As if he hadn't put their family through enough with his affair, now he had to nitpick every little thing while they figured out custody. She was busy sighing, worried about the oncoming headache when there was another knock. Assuming it was Neil, she opened the door without checking. "What is it now, N--" It wasn't her ex. Her shoulders drooped, relaxing. "Oh, hi," Danielle smiled in greeting. "Sorry, I thought you were Neil." She brushed her hand through her hair. "It's been a long morning... So, um, what are you doing here?"

Parking the car along the curb, he shut off the engine while he waited. He drummed his fingers against the wheel, glancing out the window until he spotted Jihyun coming out from work. Rolling down his window, he stuck his arm out in a wave to grab his attention. "You know, I didn't realize being friends with you would mean I'd end up being your personal Uber driver," he joked as he got into the car. Pulling away from the curb once he'd settled in, Adrian glanced over at him for a second before paying attention to the road again. "So did you want to get something or did you want me to just drop you off?"

No one understood Ophelia like Jaemin did. Sure, they did different kinds of dancing, but the pressure of performances and body aches were something she often vented about to him. Movie nights had become one of her recent favorites in winding down; plus, it helped that Jaemin was one of Ophelia's favorite people.
"Oh my goodness, chill!" she shouted as she rushed out of the bathroom having changed into pajama shorts and a loose cropped top. Hands were tying up loose strands of hair into a messy top bun. "Don't touch the food without me!" Ophelia threatened, causing her to sprint out and crash onto the couch beside Jaemin, shoulders shoving into him. "Can't even wait just a little bit," she tsk'd playfully at him before she reached over to grab the bowl of popcorn and held it out to him with a giggle. "Okay, now we can begin."
for: @starlingisms plot: (x)
Movie nights had recently become a thing between Jaemin and his close friend. They decided that it would be a good way to wind down after dealing with stress and the outside world, as Jaemin liked to call it. His job wasn't the best, and he always had to deal with an array of different people and the personalities they brought with them. Though at the end of the day, he danced for them and they helped pay his bills so he learned to smile and grit his teeth when people couldn't see it. With all the snacks and drinks laid out on the table, he had already made himself comfortable on the couch and helped himself to a few. "Are you almost ready? I'm going to eat all of this without you!" Jaemin called out to the other jokingly.

A smile tugged on her lips. "Tomorrow night works." Even if the food did disappoint, she doubted the date would. She couldn't think of a time where she didn't end up having fun with Kyungtae even when they weren't doing anything special. The only real difference now seemed to be that she would be putting in more thought as to what she'd be wearing. "So what kind of food does this place serve?" she asked, curious for more information. "And how nice do I need to look?" At the very least, she was more concerned with that than whether or not she'd have fun with him the next evening.
Kyungtae knew how she was feeling right about now. The topic was foreign to them but they both felt something, right? they wouldn't have let anything get this far otherwise. Gnawing gently on his bottom lip in anticipation, the male felt a grin appear on his face as the words of the agreement left her mouth. His body felt like it was being taken over by part nervousness and part excitement. It was registering in his mind that they were agreeing to try to date and even then, he felt good, confident even. "Tomorrow night? I can book us a reservation at this place I know of, their food doesn't disappoint." Kyungtae mused happily. He knew that if this all worked out, their family and some of their friends would be screaming their "I told you so's" after so many years.

"Okay..." She bit back her smile, running a hand over her neck in slight embarrassment. It really was weird to be talking about this. Dating. Making it official. She'd never have imagine she'd be having these kinds of conversations with Kyungtae. But it was a good weird. The kind that had her chest swelling with excitement. It had her wondering if Kyungtae was having a similar reaction. "Okay," she said once more, nodding her head. "Dinner sounds good.. When exactly do you want to do that?"
He was sure that the expression of surprise was hard to hide for a moment or two. He hadn't quite prepared himself to hear that but then again, neither of them prepared for any of this. Kyungtae as well had spent all of his childhood and teenage years denying that he had a thing for his best friend and that everything was strictly platonic. But now? Now he couldn't say that anymore. They were grown and their feelings toward one another had changed. It changed just like most of the people in their lives had said it would but they were too busy denying it back then. "Yeah, like dating..." he trailed off, nodding his head in confirmation. The words felt so foreign but maybe the two of them would grow to like it, only time would tell for the two. "We can try going on some dates? if we enjoy them we can make it official?" Kyungtae felt like he was having an out-of-body experience talking about this but the teenage boy in him was so happy to finally be getting all of this out. The one thing he knew what that he was never going to be prepared to lose MJ as a friend, and if this didn't work out, he would be okay with it. "Will you have dinner with me? We can go from there?" Kyungtae asked softly, a hopeful smile making its way onto his face.

"that's not mooching off. that's just me helping out someone that i care about." even though he can understand myeonjin's perspective, he still wishes he had asked him first. "if anything, you can pay me back at a later time. or i can help you get a part-time job somewhere if that's what you need." modelling agencies are always hiring, it seems, and film sets are often in need of extras, which is a decent option to get some spare cash fast. "oh, so you're aware that you were overstepping?" his voice drips with bitterness — well justified, in his opinion — and he leaned back a little, releasing his boyfriend from his hold. "did it never cross your mind that you could've at least told me about your little plan first?" surely, he would have shut it down the moment he heard of it, but even if myeonjin insisted, jongin would at least be aware of what's to come without the shock that hit him completely off guard today. his stance softens noticeably from myeonjin's confession, but his anger has yet to fully dissipate. "but not someone you trust enough to share your worries with." he states matter-of-factly, but the sadness seeps through amidst his annoyance. he raises his eyebrow at myeonjin's question and considers it for a moment. instead of providing a concrete answer, he extends his hand. "show me your chat history with whichever mastermind is behind this. i want to see how they even talked you into this." even though he wants to believe myeonjin's story — and mostly did — due to his familiarity with the craziness that's taken as the norm in the entertainment world, he needs to see it with his own eyes just in case.
He had to agree with the statement. The staged breakup had caught a lot more attention than the original scandal itself. It was probably due to the amount of dramatics that the girl brought to the table with her, no doubt. As they stood there in brief silence, Myeonjin was internally freaking the fuck out. Screwing their relationship up was the last thing he wanted and the fear of losing the older male was scary to him. Feeling the hands on his shoulders, he visibly relaxed them, a small sigh escaping his lips. Closing his eyes for a moment, he reached up to place his own hand on Jongin’s. “I know,” he said softly, opening his eyes again and making eye contact with his boyfriend. “I just… I don’t want to feel like I’m mooching off of you, that’s the last thing that I want,” Myeonjin finally confessed. He genuinely loved his boyfriend and he knew that the other male was there for him for whatever he needed but this time, Myeonjin tried to do things on his own and it certainly wasn’t the best idea. Giving the older males hands a gentle squeeze, he gave him an apologetic look upon hearing the follow-up question and letting go of Jongin's hand. The money he was given was enough to pay for his books and that was one of the main things he kept needing. “They gave me a little over two thousand. They asked for couple-like photos before the break up for extra and I told them no. I didn’t want to overstep as much as I already did with you…” Myeonjin found it crazy how some social media stars were. They did anything to get some likes and exposure and that just wasn’t something he particularly liked. “I’m sorry I didn’t come to you, I’m sorry for getting myself into that mess. But you… you are quite literally the only person I have ever been this into and this committed to.” And that was true, Jongin had been the only one and that was why Myeonjin was so terrified that he messed things up royally. "Do I have to move my things to the couch for tonight?" Myeonjin couldn't help but ask.

Her brow rose and she leaned in to better hear him over the music playing. She stared in consideration when he pulled away and began fiddling with making a drink, propping her chin up with closed hands. It was an honest answer, and Erin could at least appreciate that. Respect it. If he was embarrassed to admit to that, she wouldn't poke fun at him about it -- she understood where Jaemin was coming from. "I don't mind playing along," she shrugged, smiling over at him. "If it'll help, then I don't see why not. I'm here anyway, might as well use me to your advantage." Watching him work, it became apparent he was fixing her a drink. Her usual. It weirdly cemented her idea to go along with it. Maybe she did like him more than she let on, bickering, feuding egos, and all. "Okay, well if it gets a little too crowded in here, I'll make sure to head off. I think you should be more worried about yourself at the moment than me though. Or at least let security know that they should be extra cautious this week."
In a weird way, despite thinking that she was a pain in the ass -- Jaemin would be a fucking liar if he said that he wasn't the slightest bit into her. She was attractive, extremely, and even though she was a little bit of a brat toward him during the times she came in, he was attracted to it. He could handle a crowd, and he knew it. So the fact that the exposure could help his job and him in the end, he was highly considering playing along with the whole thing. He didn't have much when it came down to it personally. He often couch-hopped when evictions happened, which was more often than he would like to admit to anyone as many viewed him as a stone-cold badass who had some sense. They were wrong, so wrong. "Listen," he cleared his throat, leaning over the counter further to speak more in her ear as the music was a little bit loud than he would prefer for this time. It was still fairly early in the evening and the constant banging from the music never failed to send him off with a headache. "I'm not going to lie to you. I need all the money and tips I can get, so... I'm not joking when I say that I am willing to play along." he was a little bit ashamed to admit it to someone else but in the end, it could benefit him and the business a ton. Nodding his head in understanding, he went ahead and began making the woman a drink -- she had ordered the same few drinks the handful of times she had been here, and at this point, he figured that was maybe what she had also come for. "Look, you're a pain in my ass, that's true, but I don't want to see you get swarmed and pushed around either."

A saccharine grin spreads over her lips. "Well thanks to me, I'm sure a bunch of other people will start to think so too." The nickname could easily bother her, but it doesn't. Mostly because it's coming from Jaemin. There were plenty of things she let him get away with simply because she did find him interesting. And at least until she figured out whether or not she actually like him, she'd continue to let certain things slide. It was why she was curious to know what he'd do with his five minutes of fame. If their positions were switched, she'd have considered using it to her advantage. To what extent, she couldn't say, but she wouldn't exactly bat an eye if Jaemin chose to play it up for his advantage. There were worse things or people she could've been tied to by the media. She shrugged. "I guess it depends. If we're not confirming or denying anything right now, we can always just cause more of a stir. 'Course that just draws more attention to you so..." At least she'd have the safety of security to hide behind once she stepped out of the club and went about her business. She follows his gesture towards the few people already staring. Unable to help herself, she shoots them a sly smile and waggles her fingers at them. "Eh, it's fine. I figured I'll call someone if it gets too bad," she smiled, attention shifting back to him. Her smile grows into a smirk. "But thanks for being so concerned about me."
“Exactly! Glad you see it the way I do, Princess. I’m a fuckin’ catch,” He chirped, the nickname rolling off of his tongue, using all but a serious tone with her. Somehow, this had quickly become their thing. They would bicker, but he never found himself complaining about her company. It was almost as if he were looking in a mirror personality wise and it was safe to say he was drawn to Erin, not that he would admit it to her out loud. Jaemin knew she was pretty and popular with many people around the globe but for some reason, she had a fascination with coming back to him. They hadn’t slept together or gotten anywhere near the point, but he wasn’t against any kind of rendezvous anyways. That was the type of person he was. As she pointed out that it would be good for business, he couldn’t disagree. They had been lacking a little bit the last month and a half and the exposure could do them some good. But yes, it would also cause a lot of issues for him with being swarmed and followed. “But I mean… should I not do what’s best for business?” He questioned out loud, a small hum following as he leaned on the bar countertop opposite of her. Hand on his chin, he tapped his fingers on his face slightly. “You mean people like that?” He questioned, slightly gesturing to the few people already staring at them and snapping some photos. “Do you have a plan to get out of here or should I sneak you out the back when it gets too much?” It was a genuine question, and he knew how hard it was to be crowded by people. Maybe not for the same reason, but he could understand.

jongin blinks as he digests the story blurted out too quickly — but he did set the time limit himself. “something must have gone wrong, since the staged breakup caught a lot more attention than whatever dating rumours there were in the first place.” at least said rumours never reached him, before the so-called breakup occurred. his headache throbs even more from the explanation, his fingers rub his temple as he tries to process it still. “myeonjin, jin-ah — ” he takes a step closer to his boyfriend at last, his hands resting on his shoulders. “how many times have i told you that if you’re short on money, you could just tell me, hm? we can figure something out.” unlike what his existing social circles might indicate, jongin didn’t go through life with complete ease either. though he was born into a family wealthier than most, the fallout hit him hard and he knows what it feels to be so broke that even the next meal is a cause of worry. it is somewhat of a miracle that he found an out from scriptwriting among all things, but he can empathise well with myeonjin’s situation. “did they even pay you well, at least?” his anger has subsided by half right now, replaced by the concern he feels for the younger man.
The issue is that he was fairly broke and putting himself through university was hard. His stupid choice had come from a moment of desperation, and he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Myeonjin knew that his boyfriend was going to be super angry with him and that much was deserved. He hadn't been thinking straight when that social media celebrity stumbled into him at the cafe last week and caused a scene. At the angry words, he couldn't help but flinch slightly while his eyes caught the sight of the photo in question and his stomach turned again, much like it had been all day and on his way home. "I -- I ran into her at the cafe last week and got tied up with her when our drinks got mixed and I guess it looked like we were together because we were talking. She's well-known and people had gotten the wrong idea, word spread and they contacted me, asking me to meet up to stage a break-up." Myeonjin blurted out in a panic. He was fully aware of what an idiot he was but the idea of losing Jongin freaked him out even further. "I was thinking about paying for my school books... I should have run it by you, and I'm so sorry." He finished, looking at the other male with guilt in his eyes.

though kyungtae has been swamped with work lately, it's not as though her own job as a wedding planner affords her much time for her love life. it's ironic in a way how someone who was once hopelessly romantic enough to choose such a career has become jaded when it comes to love. however, life consists of chapters and she can't erase the ones that came before him. the best she can do is focus on the present and their shared determination to make it work. her demeanour noticeably softens, finding solace in his words that encourage her to let go of the doubts that have lingered for some time. her gaze falls to their entwined hands, his touch a grounding presence that calms her racing thoughts. "i love you too." the thought of losing him wouldn't have hurt so deeply if she hadn't cared. but she knows that love alone isn't enough to sustain a relationship. "you would do that for me?" she understands how important his projects are to him and how challenging it must be for him to step away, even briefly. "can you really do that?" despite working in different fields, being a project planner herself, she recognises the difficulty of finding someone capable enough to fill in for a period of time. she falls silent for a moment, unsure if she should allow herself to hope, but eventually, she gives in. "i've heard that switzerland is magical this time of year." her lips curl into a gentle smile. "if it's a shorter trip, maybe we could go to hokkaido. nothing beats hot springs in the middle of winter."
He would admit that he was busier than usual lately with work and it put a strain on their relationship. Despite that, Kyungtae loved Jieun just the same. But he knew something had to give, they needed to have this conversation and he was willing to admit that he needed to maybe take a step back from all the business and take some time for the two of them. Hearing she still wanted things to work had him sighing out in relief. Losing Jieun was an unsettling thought, given how much the man was crazy about her. He reached over to gently take her hand into his, the pad of his thumb massaging circles into her hand. “As do I. I love you and I’m crazy about you, I know work has been getting in the way a lot but those feelings haven’t diminished. However, I know I need to maybe take a step back from the movie sets a little more often and focus on personal matters...” Kyungtae trailed off, he was willing to have someone help him out on an odd day of the week every so often to make quality time with Jieun happen when it came down to it. Though with being a film director, he would have to make sure the person filling in was trusted and knew what he wanted but he was determined to fix the things in his personal life. “We should plan to go somewhere. Maybe somewhere we’ve always wanted to go? Spend time there for the new year? What do you think about that?”
