“Oh, that’s very unfortunate.” Belial struts into the makeshift ring and crouches, lifting his leg to heights Camomile can only dream of. “I have [muscle and skill] in spades, and you made my girlfriend cry.” His voice descends into a predatory growl. “So hurry up and run a train on me already. Dosukoi!”

Between this and Sir Kyukichi the God Rabbit Summon, why is my (admittedly Lucilius-less and Belial/Cammy focused) fic "Unadulterated Amour" (please heed the rating and tags) becoming semi-canon?! XD

More importantly, what's Belial doing headlining Grand Blues? Dare I dream that it Means Something...?

Galleon does tend to have that effect on people. I think hearing her peculiar manner of speech would do even more things to you, so you should check out some of her dialogue in the base game. GBF is indeed where she comes from, of course.

Maybe!!! We can't know for sure. But considering he's so serious and focused with what he's doing it's interesting that he still picked Erune over human as a mortal form.

so he must be liking cats. I have to believe.

tho tbh i was joking a bit but the more i think about it, the more i think Granblue may be setting him up on that part -- because like... The Many Lives of Cats and Dante's whole approach to Cat and Life is something that Granblue really love and believe in, that life is worth living once you remember your own freedom the way cats do. Considering Lu Woh is the guardian of life and the fact Granblue is setting up "Cats know how to live the good life" i think Granblue has an agenda for Lu Woh in the end.

They're seemingly fascinated: Sarunan can't decide if it's out of endearment or mild horror (and it would be too complex to explain the feline appendages in the first place; he wouldn't anyways, it's not anything bothersome).

However, they can't say that. Feels like they shouldn't say that. After all, they were the stranger to this world, and this was seemingly normal judging by the amount of people they had met on the ship as well as all the people on the islands with similar traits. If a stranger were to call someone adorable because of the way their ears moved that'd be considered creepy on each and every standard. That's why they couldn't say it. Wouldn't say it.

Unfortunately, every other part of them betrayed that sentiment. They can't stop staring, childlike wonder and love for the fuzzy ears mixed with the constant reminder that they were even further from home now (as if the endless blue wasn't already proof of that). It's strange, and wonderful, and they know they're awkward about it, and they wish they weren't, and...!

They surely weren't making a good impression... Kou, You and Sui had been kind and understanding when Akira's eyes had, embarrassingly, gone wide upon seeing their tails. But being unable to act properly around an adult...felt somehow worse.

"N-no, I'm the one who should apologize, I shouldn't have stared", they stumble, maybe it would've been better to ignore it... "I, uh, hope it's not an inconvenience...?" even something like that must be normal for him, seeing how he so precisely spoke of the culprit, and so Akira comes to realize they might be coming off weird yet again. Ah, you'd think they'd be good with new worlds by now...

Mullin's Guide to Their Captainsona: A Totally Complete Guide*

hi I'm Not Normal about the main story quest and gbf gripped me by the shoulders and now I have a traumatized danchou with a story that's supposedly about love! and grief! and loss, and family, and etc etc

I wanted to give a little baseline of who my danchou is, why you should read their story, and uhhhh yeah!

Part I: Who is This Guy?

(comm from @/solarpire) ^ that guy. Guy of all time actually. This is Mullin, elder sibling to twins Gran and Djeeta! Their journey is a little wild, ranging from being a mercenary with Sturm and Drang, to stowing aboard cargo ships and finding a family they never knew they needed. Their story officially begins during the Nalhegrande arc of the MSQ, taking the job of captain of the Grandcypher after Gran and Djeeta took down the Erste Empire.

Mullin is chronically sleep-deprived and has quite a few anxious ticks, but they are fiercely loyal to their family and friends. They enjoy writing and never know when (or how) to take a break...

Part II: Writings About Them

I have a multitude of short drabbles about them you can find on my masterlist (here) but their main story is called The Journal of Captain Mullin! I'm debating on whether it will be a 2-part or a 3-part series (I loooove trilogies) that will follow through the rest of Wayfaring Astral and the eventual finality of the MSQ.

During their journey they eventually meet Belial, whom they form a (reluctant) primal pact with out of desperation for survival. A lot of their story centers around dealing with family, the consequences of burning yourself out, and managing grief/loss. There's also a love story between Mullin and Rackam in there, I SWEAR- (it's a painfully slow burn <3)

I am also working on events/side stories with them, so if anyone has any ideas, feel free to send em by!

I did have an early version of TJOCM up on Ao3, but after going through some writing style changes, it's been deleted and I hope to upload the first new chapter sometime by the end of summer!

Part III: Mullin Propaganda

so why should you care about my silly little guy? well. they're silly. local captain so emotionally repressed they make a deal with a demon. guy who tries so hard and somehow manages to fuck it up over and over (self fulfilling prophecy) BUT IT IS ALL ABOUT LOVE!!! there's familial love, there's romantic love, there's platonic love (my best friend has a Draph danchou⁉️) and also. The Vibes.

Gran Blue Fantasy Conlangs V2

If you saw my previous post on me wanting to construct a language for each of the species of the gacha game "Granblue Fantasy", My goals have shifted. You see, I came across a passage of Mark Rosenfelder's "Advanced Language Construction" where he airs out his frustration at the trend of languages being restricted to species, mostly because said species tend to interact with other species.

What I'm trying to get at is that I came to realize the species of GBF could be more widespread and mixed than I was aware. thus, I went to the nearest wiki to see what the world of Gran Blue was actually like.

I haven't gone deep, yet, but the idea of "skydoms" composed of different Islands separated by geographical (aerographical?) barriers gave me a new idea and goal that I want to pursue with the Fandom one day. This new goal being the construction of a language for each of the skydoms with some exceptions.

In my short research, I have also found one instance of an Island in the world to be mostly composed of one species. thus, I think I could still create species-specific languages if there is a group of them concentrated in a single location, Isolated languages with no relation to the existing language families that surround them. The Island I just mentioned is the "Valtz Duchy", an industrial Island with a majority population of Draphs. this could be where I consider a "Draph Language" to be spoken at with a secondary trade language spoken among the rest of the skydom the island is located in.

I love GBF's Draphs so much. There's something wonderful about a guy built like an ox with horns to match being able to lift a cart one-handed, and an equally bovine-like woman doing the same thing with (seemingly) less of the strength and half the size. And their size discrepancy means that any place made by a Draph will be innately accommodating to everyone. Their strength has both been a boon and a burden over the centuries, and every Draph we meet deals with that differently. They tend to have one child, and support them with an admirable unconditionalness.

Also, they drink like fishes but on the whole have incredibly highbrow tastes in wine, so there's innate tension in What Wine To Bring As Trade For Forging This Weapon. Presumably 99% of the metalwork we see was done by Draphs, whether it's weapons or the delicate, barely-visible chain of a necklace. That's quite the variety!

This isn't even getting into the plain ol' aesthetic appeal, from the obvious (boobs!) to the more subtle and cute (kid Draphs with their tiny horn stubs!). Our Style, Our Substance only made the aesthetics even better, with specific fashion for them: buttons in the back, stretchy collars, horn care and decorations? It's worldbuilding heaven. Draphs are great. ;v;
