@grabracadabra ❝ you don’t have to hide them around me. the scars are just part of who you are. and i like all of what i see. ❞
John gazed up at the other man, a somberness settling into his features. Albert had always been so kind, so gentle.
Gerald Shaw never deserved the boys God gifted to him, and John always did what he could to shield them away from the deplorable treatment they received at home, though, it was clear that Albert was the one Gerald especially liked to go after. John had grown rather protective of Albert, to the point he'd suddenly need extra help with various duties such as making sure the music sheets for the choir were in order and take inventory of the wine and eucharists to ensure they had enough each week.
And the Monsignor knew he kept the boy from a lot of pain, but try as he might to keep him from his father, there always came a time when he had to send the boy home.
And every time, his heart shattered.

"I suppose you're right. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Even Jesus had shown his the remnants of His wounds proudly," the priest responded fondly. Though, it's a bit harder to explain that there was an Angel that the God had sent to him that bit his neck than to explain the resurrections of their Lord.
A question creeped into his mind as the subject settled in his thoughts, and despite sincere efforts, it wouldn't dwindle. Though he was certain of the answer, he never had any concrete confirmation of what he knew the Shaw boys endured.
"Do you have any scars, Albert?"

"Finney," he answered, uncertain as to why he gave his actual name instead of lying. Every alarm in his head wailed at him to give a random name, but instead of the Taylor he had tucked away for when such a question arose, he gave his actual name.
At least he was smart enough to not give his own last name. Maybe @grabracadabra wouldn't figure out he's got a sister. If the Grabber didn't know anything more than his first name, maybe Gwen would be safe.

Decompensated. Liver disease in the ED. St Emlyn's
Estimated reading time: 13 minutes This week I am in Canada, specifically Whistler for the Annual Update in Emergency Medicine CPD conference. This is the second ski resort I’ve done this month, which is odd, because I don’t ski. That said it’s an amazing opportunity to spend time with old and new friends in the spectacular surroundings of the Canadian Rockies. I’ve got three talks this week,…

Nodding to acknowledge what the man had said, Jonny still struggled to find his voice.
Certainly, the man was cheery, but he also ripped him from his life without thought. Would he be quick to anger if Jonny said the wrong thing?
"When you..." he trailed off, uncertain if he was allowed to say anything along the lines of 'abducted me'. Though, he almost felt as though it was better to continue onto the question itself. "I had a few things with me, most notably my trumpet. Do you... Is it safe? I just- it was my from my grandfather. He knew I was training and he got it for me- he liked to listen to me practice. He's gone now, and I just-I just wanted to know if it's okay."
And not on the side of the road where you grabbed me.
The fear bubbled up in his gut and he felt tears brim his eyes again as he looked down at his knees pulled up against his chest.
"I'm sorry if I'm overstepping. I just... it means a lot to me."
@longsounded | "Mister, uh..." Jonny trailed off, unsure of what to call the man as he stood in the doorway. His lower lip quivered as he attempted to speak, but the words failed him. Jonny had never been more petrified before in his life, and yet, he just wanted to know if his trumpet was safe.
Though, try as he might, nothing further was able to fall from his lips aside from a gentle, "Never mind. I'm sorry."
Tumblr media
"Oh!" He laughed, bright and well-meaning. "Please."
There the Grabber stood, his mask on in full-- his smile was as wide as ever. The fingers on the door's handle remained in place, but his eyes were facing the boy on the ratty old mattress now.
It wasn't very often that he took a Nice Boy home, if at all. Their curiosity, however, was decidedly more important than any old tradition. Was he really nice? Was he just as kind as Albert thought he was, or just a gifted liar?
"You have a question, don't you?" The Grabber's head cocked ever so slightly to the side. "You can always ask. Especially since you already started to."

by Nicolas Hulscher, MPH
The study titled, The protective role of vitamin D in BNT162b2 vaccine-related acute myocarditis, was just published in the journal Frontiers in Immunology:
Introduction: Vaccine-related myocarditis is recognized as a rare but important complication, especially after mass-scale mRNA COVID-19 vaccination. Knowledge regarding how to minimize the risk is limited. As NK cells can mediate acute myocarditis after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination and vitamin D may inhibit NK cells via cytokine modulation, we hypothesize that the myocarditis side effect is related to a hypovitaminosis D – mRNA vaccine – hypercytokinemia – NK cell axis, which is amendable to clinical intervention. Methods: Biochemical, immunophenotypic and genotyping assays were performed to examine vitamin D status and immune profiles in 60 patients who had BNT162b2 vaccine-related acute myocarditis. Results: A high incidence of hypovitaminosis D (73.3%) was observed in these individuals with vaccine-related myocarditis, particularly in those presented with chest pain or intensive care unit (ICU) admission. Moreover, vitamin D level was negatively associated with peak serum cardiac troponin T level during vaccine-related myocarditis. Genotypically, the GC (vitamin D binding protein) rs4588T allele which encoded the GC2 isoform of vitamin D binding protein was a risk allele, whereas the GC1S isoform was protective. Mechanistically, hypovitaminosis D was associated with higher levels of cytokines pivotal for natural killer (NK) cells (particularly interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-12, Interferon-γ (IFN-γ), and IL-8) and higher percentage of CD69+ NK cells in blood, which in turn correlated with chest pain presentation. Conclusion: These data support the hypothesis that vitamin D plays a crucial role in mitigating mRNA vaccine-related myocarditis by modulating proinflammatory cytokine milieu and subsequent unfavorable NK cell activation, laying a groundwork for preventive and treatment strategies.

Yamaha Grand Piano Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Model
Tumblr media
Buying a grand piano is a significant investment—both emotionally and financially. Among the many trusted brands in the world of music, Yamaha Grand Piano models are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, tone, and long-lasting quality. Whether you're a beginner, a music school administrator, or a professional pianist, choosing the right Yamaha Grand Piano requires understanding your needs, space, and budget.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the key factors to consider when selecting the perfect Yamaha Grand Piano for your home, studio, or performance venue.
1. Understand the Yamaha Grand Piano Series
Yamaha offers several series of grand pianos, each tailored to different types of players and settings:
GB1K Series: Yamaha’s most compact and affordable grand piano. Ideal for small spaces and beginners.
GC Series: A step up from the GB1K, offering enhanced tonal quality and construction.
CX Series: Crafted for professionals and serious students, known for expressive tone and resonance.
CF Series: Yamaha’s concert grand pianos. These are hand-built and used by top-tier performers globally.
Disklavier Series: A unique line of Yamaha Grand Pianos equipped with digital playback, recording, and remote learning features.
Knowing which series matches your goals will help narrow down your options.
2. Measure Your Space
Grand pianos require a significant amount of space—not just for the instrument itself, but also for acoustic projection and player movement.
Here’s a rough size guide:
Baby Grand (up to 5'3"): Perfect for home use and limited spaces (e.g., Yamaha GB1K).
Medium Grand (5'4"–6'0"): Suitable for teaching studios or small performance spaces.
Full Grand (6'–7'6"): Designed for concert rehearsals or larger rooms.
Concert Grand (over 9'): Best for performance halls or recording studios (e.g., Yamaha CFX).
Make sure to leave enough room around the piano for sound reflection and comfortable seating.
3. Define Your Purpose and Skill Level
Are you a beginner learning at home, a music teacher looking for a practice piano, or a performer who needs expressive range?
Beginners and Hobbyists: Yamaha GB1K or GC1 offers affordability, reliability, and beautiful tone for entry-level players.
Intermediate to Advanced: The CX Series, like the C3X or C5X, delivers a more nuanced touch and broader dynamic range.
Professionals and Institutions: CF Series grand pianos are concert-quality instruments designed for elite performance.
Choosing the right Yamaha Grand Piano depends on the type of music you play and the level of detail you require in tone and touch.
4. Try Before You Buy
No matter how detailed the specs may be, the best way to know if a Yamaha Grand Piano suits you is to try it out. Visit a Yamaha showroom or authorized dealer and spend time playing different models. Pay attention to:
Key action and responsiveness
Tone clarity and sustain
Overall comfort and sound projection
Each Yamaha Grand Piano, even within the same series, may feel different due to individual craftsmanship and voicing.
5. Consider Your Budget
Yamaha Grand Pianos range in price based on size, series, and features. Here's a general pricing overview:
GB1K: ₹5–7 lakhs
GC Series: ₹8–12 lakhs
CX Series: ₹13–25 lakhs
CF Series: ₹40 lakhs and above
Disklavier Models: Vary based on tech integration (can exceed ₹50 lakhs)
Financing options, EMI plans, and second-hand certified models are also worth exploring for budget-conscious buyers.
6. Warranty and Maintenance Support
Yamaha offers long-term warranties and service support through its network of dealers. Always buy from an authorized Yamaha dealer to ensure your instrument is covered and eligible for after-sale tuning, regulation, and repairs.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right Yamaha Grand Piano is about more than just size or cost—it’s about finding a musical companion that resonates with your goals, lifestyle, and artistic journey. With Yamaha’s legacy of quality and innovation, you can be confident that whichever model you choose will bring you years of musical joy and dependable performance.

001: profile.
legal name: go jieun stage name: minnie age: 24 training period: 3 years company: midas music group & position: girl code’s lead vocalist skeleton key: gc1 career focus: modeling, fashion
002: background.
the weight of the go family name is a burden.
a burden jieun never asked to carry.
born into privilege but wrapped in expectation, jieun grew up in a world where everything came with strings attached. there was no such thing as “just being a kid” when your last name was go. her childhood was like walking through a museum. everything beautiful, everything untouchable, everything steeped in unspoken rules. her father’s presence was everywhere, filling up every corner of her life. he didn’t have to say much to make himself known. he was the kind of man who could silence a room with a glance, never needing to raise his voice to make his voice heard. jieun used to watch him, trying to figure out how he carried himself like the world would stop spinning if he wanted it to. there was a gravity to him that she couldn’t ignore, even if it sometimes felt like it was pulling her under.
her father never sat her down and told her how to act; he didn’t have to because she tried to copy him before he had the chance to. at first, it was little things. the way he held his hands when he spoke, the way he always seemed to know when to step forward and when to hold back. but the more she tried to walk in his footsteps, the harder it got to see where her own started. jieun felt like a shadow, always following, always there, but never really her own person. her mother was a completely different story. she taught jieun how to hold her head high, how to make an entrance, how to make people look at you and see exactly what you wanted them to see. jieun loved her mother, but she wanted something more than just being memorable or having people admire her. she wanted to be important in the way her dad was., the kind of person that made people stop, look, and *listen*.
but as much as jieun tried to be like her father, there was a part of her that didn’t fit the mold. underneath it all, she was warm and empathetic, but aslo mischievous and a little bit messy.  she was mischievous in ways that surprised even herself sometimes, finding quiet joy in catching people off guard. she loved a good prank that wasn’t too outrageous, but just enough to break the tension and make someone laugh. her sense of humor was subtle, dry and just a little sarcastic. her jokes weren’t the kind that filled a room with laughter but the kind that made someone pause for a second, then chuckle when they realized what she’d said. they were like little puzzles, meant for the people who paid attention, and she loved the satisfaction of seeing someone piece them together. when the weight of expectations felt like too much, her humor became her escape hatch. she used it to defuse tense situations, to remind herself that it was okay not to take everything so seriously. it wasn’t just a defense mechanism; it was a way of finding lightness in a life that often felt so heavy.
jieun noticed things, too. little things. the way someone’s voice changed when they were nervous. the way people’s hands fidgeted when they were lying. she had a knack for reading between the lines, for seeing the things people didn’t say. it made her good at navigating tricky situations, but it also made her cautious. she’d learned early on that people didn’t always have the best intentions, especially when it came to her because of her family name. so she kept her warmth hidden, letting it out in small, careful doses. a kind word here, a thoughtful gesture there. just enough to show she cared without giving too much of her heart away.
it was a delicate balance, being jieun. trying to be everything her father seemed to be, everything she thought she needed to be, while still holding on to the parts of herself that felt real. but even in her quiet moments of doubt, there was a part of her that held on to the hope that one day, she wouldn’t have to choose. that she could be both strong and vulnerable, both composed and messy, both go jieun and just jieun.
-
jieun remembered the day she told her father she wanted to be an idol. it wasn’t planned. nothing about that conversation was. she’d been sitting in his office, her hands gripping the edge of the chair so tightly her knuckles turned white. she hadn’t meant to blurt it out, but the words tumbled out of her anyway, shaky and unpolished.
“i want to be an idol,” she’d said, her voice steadier than she felt.
her father looked up from his paperwork, his expression unreadable. there was a long pause, the kind that made her stomach twist, before he finally leaned back in his chair. “why?” was all he asked, his tone neither dismissive nor encouraging.
jieun had rehearsed this moment in her head a hundred times, but now that it was here, her mind went blank. “because… it’s what i’ve seen my whole life,” she started, “when i’m singing or dancing, it’s the only time i feel completely free. and i want to pursue the happiness it brings me, too.” she wanted to say more, to explain how music made her feel alive in a way nothing else did, how performing felt like the only time she could escape the family name. but she couldn’t find the words, and her father didn’t ask for them.
he didn’t say no. instead, he nodded once, curtly, and reminders her that she carries the family name wither she succeeds or fails. those words stuck with her, replaying in her mind long after she left his office. she knew he meant them as both permission and warning, a reminder of the stakes. failure wasn’t just personal; it would reflect on him, on their family, on everything the go name stood for in the industry.
-
joining the trainee program at midas labels was like stepping into a pressure cooker. for months, none of the other trainees knew who she was. jieun kept her last name quiet, just another face in the sea of hopefuls chasing the same impossible dream. if anyone asked, she simply said her family worked in business, a vague enough answer to avoid further questions. she wanted to be seen for her effort, not her connections.
jieun was quiet during her trainee days, but she wasn’t invisible. she kept to herself, mostly, watching the others with a calm, measured gaze. she wasn’t the type to go out of her way to make friends, but she wasn’t outright cold either. if someone spoke to her, she’d reply politely, but rarely did she let conversations linger long enough to turn into friendships. there was a distance about her, something that made people hesitate to approach her too casually. her focus and composure made her seem older than she was, an air of quiet authority that she hadn’t meant to project but couldn’t quite shake.
she wasn’t all that mean, but she wasn’t overly kind, either. jieun had a way of setting boundaries without needing to say much. her actions spoke for her—reserved but not rude, careful but not cruel. sometimes, when a trainee was struggling with choreography or a vocal run, jieun would quietly step in, offering a quick tip or demonstration. she never lingered for the gratitude and never made a show of her help. if anything, it seemed like she preferred to slip back into the background as quickly as she came forward. her advice, though simple, often stuck with others, leaving an impression of someone who cared more than she let on.
though she wasn’t openly affectionate, there were small moments that revealed her softer side. she would leave little notes of encouragement for other trainees on tough days or share her snacks with someone who looked particularly drained. jieun wasn’t someone who offered loud words of comfort, but she showed up in quiet, meaningful ways.but there were moments when jieun’s sharp edges showed, flashes of her frustration or impatience slipping through her composed exterior. if someone slacked off or didn’t take training seriously, she wasn’t afraid to point it out, her words cutting just enough to sting without being outright cruel. jieun believed in hard work, and she expected the same from the people around her. her corrections were rarely personal; they were direct, a reflection of the high standards she set for herself and the environment she was in.
-
if jieun would to name one moment she felt genuinely happy, she’d claim it was the day she debuted with her group. standing under the stage lights, hearing the crowd’s cheers, she felt like all their hard work had finally paid off. she wasn’t the loudest in interviews or the most outgoing on variety shows, but she soaked up every moment of what it meant to be an idol, even if it was exhausting at times.every fan sign, every stage, every win felt like a dream come true.
but the honeymoon phase of her career didn’t last long. during her group’s first comeback, whispers about her being related to an executive started spreading online. fans were piecing together clues about her background. one exposé later, jieun was no longer just another rookie idol. she was now the daughter of go eunsung. the news spread everywhere, taking over headlines and fan forums. some fans felt betrayed and accused her of using her family’s connections to get her debut. others just wrote her off completely, refusing to believe any of her success was because of talent or hard work. the group’s comeback promotions were overshadowed by the controversy. every press conference and interview had subtle or not-so-subtle questions about her background. jieun had come into the industry hoping to prove herself, but now it felt like everything she did was being picked apart. every achievement was brushed off as nepotism. jieun tried to handle it all with grace, but it wasn’t easy. the joy she had felt during debut started to fade. the comments online, saying she didn’t deserve her spot or hadn’t earned it, started to wear her down.
she stopped smiling as much. jieun became quieter, pulling back into herself as the controversy kept following her everywhere. she avoided social media because she knew reading the comments would only make things worse. even so, the words stuck with her and echoed in her head, even when she tried to focus on work. “if they’re going to judge me,” she thought, “let them judge what i do onstage.” so she threw herself into every performance, every rehearsal, every fan interaction. she avoided talking about the controversy, letting her performances do the talking instead.
but no matter how much effort she put in, a lot of people still refused to change their minds. her performances were dismissed as just the result of expensive training. her interviews were picked apart for any sign of privilege. jieun started to realize that, for some, her name would always overshadow anything she did. it hurt, but it also made her more determined. if she couldn’t change their opinions, she would focus on the people who did believe in her. the fans who showed up at every stage, who left kind messages, who saw her for more than just her last name.
-
jieun has come to terms with the fact that the weight of her family name will always follow her, shaping how people perceive her before she even has a chance to speak. it’s a heavy burden, but she’s learned to carry it in her own way. while she can’t control how others judge her, she’s found strength in focusing on what she can control. her passion, her work, and the connections she builds with the people who truly see her. every time she steps on stage, she’s reminded of why she started. not to prove anyone wrong or to live up to someone else’s expectations, but to honor the part of herself that comes alive when she sings and dances. jieun knows she’ll never be able to completely escape the shadow of her family name, but she’s learned that her light can shine just as brightly within it.
003: image.
minnie is marketed as the embodiment of elegance and exclusivity within her group, girl code. from the moment she debuted, midas labels positioned her as a symbol of luxury and refinement, carefully curating her public image to align with the group’s overall runway-inspired concept. minnie naturally fit into the image of a poised and untouchable “it girl,” without the official title. she is often described as the “ice queen” of the group, a title that reflects both admiration and distance. fans and the general public see her as calm, composed, and in control, rarely letting emotions or controversies affect her outward demeanor. her stoic expressions in photoshoots and her reserved personality during interviews further cement this reputation. people admire her for her aura of mystery, though it often comes at the cost of relatability. while some fans see her as a source of inspiration, others find her intimidating or unapproachable, viewing her as the personification of privilege. this perception is also roted in minnie’s background as the daughter of go eunsung. while midas labels has capitalized on her connections to enhance her allure, this narrative has also attracted criticism. some dismiss her achievements as the product of nepotism, ignoring her hard work and dedication. the company has done little to deflect this narrative, using her association with wealth and influence as part of girl code’s overall image of “aspirational luxury.”
despite the controversy surrounding her, minnie’s dry humor and moments of vulnerability have occasionally peeked through her polished exterior, surprising fans who take the time to look deeper. these glimpses of her softer side, though rare, have made her more endearing to a subset of the fandom. fans who catch her off-guard smiles during candid moments or her quiet words of encouragement to group members during live streams see a version of minnie that feels authentic and grounded. her dry humor, often delivered in subtle, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it comments, adds a layer of friendliness to her otherwise unattainable image. these rare moments make fans feel like they’ve uncovered a secret, a side of minnie that exists outside the pristine persona she’s known for.
