Deeply sad that Ghostwire:Tokyo does not have more of a fandom that I can find. I want SO badly to hear people’s long rambling thoughts. It’s such an interesting game for so very many reasons. It’s far from perfect of course but like…it’s enjoyable and interesting and isn’t that good enough? Maybe I’ll post some rambles later.

Ghostwire: tokyo x Ninjago Au #1 (?)
Ok, I'm not sure if any of my followers or mutals ever heard about this game but I opened it recently again and couldn't stop thinking about it(still not over microsoft closing tango gameworks)
So for those that don't know the game I will summarise ita bit(w/o spoilers ofc) Basically you play as guy named Akito(first pov playthrough) who got possesed by a spirit of a guy named KK after people from whole Tokyo sudennly vanished. Your job is to collect all of the souls, fighting youkai and monsters named visitors while trying to save your sister Mari from a guy named Hannya. After merging with KK, Akito gains powers that are a result of formers affinity to ether. (If you are interested in playing the game it will be free on Epic Game Store from 31st October till 7th November - Ghostwire:Tokyo- Prelude is free on both steam and EGS all the time- it's a prequel to GW:T made as a visual novel)
So for the Au:
All of the pairs will be scattered around diffrent parts of Japan
Not every duo becomes later a couple (I choose some pairs for diffrent relationship dynamics)
Spirits will later regain back their bodies(their psychical bodies are in some sort diffrent realm which is placed between world of death and livings)
Pairs are presented in order of appearance
I had to change some of game worldbuilding for the sake of the Au and my own sanity(like spirits comming back to living)
Jay (vessel) x Cole(spirit) - will become a couple
They were both part of the same team since highschool (now both in collage)
They often bicker but it is a part of their strong relationship
Back in the day others often assumed that they were already a couple (no one told them) so they both complained of begin unable to find a partner and even recived weird looks whenever one of them flirted with someone else
Cole became a spirit after a failed attempt at purifying the shrine, he knew that Jay wac close so thats why he possesed him
Cole was the one with the powers and Jay was his support with bow and talismans (plus acctual knowagle about their enemies and some sort of plan always in his head)
Before every mission Jay alwasy studied building plans so they would have a way to escape
thanks to their good cooperation Wu never woried about sending them on a mission(he never expected that eventually Cole will be th one that will end up dead)
They both know Zane(was a member in their team)
Before The Vanishing Jay was the one to make usable objects for them while studying Hannya's actions alongside with Wu and Zane
Cole was responsile for buying groceries, checking and refilling their supply from Nekomantas and cleaning(applied to both their hideout and his and Jay's collage room)
2. Kai(vessel) x Zane (spirit) - not a couple
Didn't knew eachother before
They have a hard time getting along at the begining due to personality diffrences, they make it work eventually
Zane "died" after begin stabbed by Kuchisake
Kai's goal is to rescue his kidnapped sister that was taken by unnamed man(one of people that works for Hannya)
Kai was taking care for him and Nya since their parents death
Zane never was a human- he used to be a visitor named Shiromuku that was born form negative feelings that surrounded area close to Dr. Julien's home. He was working with previous generation of Wu's team and with the help of Shimo(name I choose for previous master of ice) they managed to cleanse the visitor which later become a boy named Zane - the one that was created to protect those who cannot protect themselves
Even tho Zane's powers manifested as ice, after he mearged with Kai his powers manifested as fire which they often are mistaken as ether
after regaining Zane's body Kai loose all of his powers
3. Lloyd(vessel) x Harumi (spirit) - will become a couple
They both knew eachother since childhood - Harumi was Japan's princess and Lloyd was a son of high rank officer
Harumi used to work for Hannya but backed out when things get out of control - the reason why she joined him is bc he promised to bring backe her bio parents which end up begin a lie
Harumi was escaping from Hannya for months not knowing from whom to seek help, eventually she was separeted from her body by Hannya himself
Lloyd was always aware of other world existence and able to see what others couldn't- when he was young no one told him that he sould never reveal what he can see, so he was a lonly child
His mother dissapeared when he was 6 months old- leaving him with his father that fought with Hannya's power inside him to not turn into a visitor - this power was inherited by Lloyd and gave him other ablilities that no one was avare of (they manifested after Harumi possesion)
For a very long time Lloyd had a hard time with trusting Harumi after finding out what she did- it often put them in extreamly dnagerous positions since they were unable to cooporate and trust eachother - it often lead to them begin separated by stronger enemies
They somehow made up after Lloyd risked his life while trying to take Harumi's body from Hannya who needed it for a ritual and Harumi almost destroyed it to save Lloyd from Hannya
Once their relationship becomes more steady Harumi helps Lloyd with finding his father that left to stop The Vanishing from happening and disappeared(Lloyd found out about his father plans after finding his journal at one of his friends house)
4. Zane (vessel) x Pixal (spirit)
After Zane regains his body, him and the rest of the team (bruise and llorumi are still merged) stumbled int Cyrus Borg that worked on a project that will be an opposite of a visitor born from positive emotions and feelings and named her Pixal which become his assistant (Borg helps with defeating Hannya from the shadows)
Zane feels drawn to Pixal due to thier similiar nature
At first Pixal doesn't have a physical body - she merges with Zane which boost his powers
Pixal is extremly knowegable when it comes to youkai and visitors- Borg insisted for her to learn everything in this topic
She can sensein which direction then can stumble into a friendly youkai(better than spectral vision but is unable to sense visitors and ether objects)
She eventually gains a body that is made by Jay and filled with ether
She doesn't have powers on her own which led her to learning how to fightit
After gaining her own body she asks to refer her and Pixal or Yukine
5. Lloyd (vessel) x Morro (spirit) - not a couple
Morro is forced into Lloyd after a ritual which led to Cole and Harumi begin separeted from their partners and send somwhere else
They really don't get along
After Morro learned that Lloyd is Wu nephew he resented him even more - he was Wu student, he told him that he has a great potential but didn't let him search for Hannya. Morro escaped and end up dead and blamed Wu for it(he was a lost kid that was told he can become saviour of the world)
When their relationship finally become more steady(they found Wu that managed to made up with Morro), the team manages to travel into the realms of spirits thanks to Morro's sacrifice
6. Nya (vessel) x Cole&Harumi (both spirits)
Due to team changing the realms the world kind of fck itself and Nya ends up separated form Hannya and regains conscioudness just to realize that she have two people in her head
Thanks to two spirits in her body Nya ends up with a very strong ether energy- sometimes she lose control over it
They have a hard time with agreening on the same thing
Thanks to Harumi's obserwation they realize that Nya's the best at using water ether
They eventually end up in realm where their bodies are placed in and find Nya's and Kai's parents that were held captive there
After separating from Cole and Harumi, Nya looses all of her abilities besides weaving water ether
Even after separation Lloyd doesn't loose his powers and Jay loose them(he's only left with spectral vision and his trusty gagets)
So that's it for current partners in the Au- if it will gain some interest i will make more about it and may even make some drawings. I still need to find a way to get Kai and Jay their powers later(I have an idea that may work for Jay). I also need to make a proper timeline and explain Garmadon's connection to the story+ Harumi's powers (even if it won't end up with a lot of interestants I will be updating it(probably) but I will be focusing more on my ongoing fanfic - i swear that I am working on that next chapter.

SMASHTOBER DAY 15: GUIDEBOOK/INSECT/LAMP
It’s kind of scary how well insect faces overlay human ones. This one is inspired by Ghostwire:Tokyo, which has these shadow tour guide ladies with paper wrapped around their heads. There’s at least one insect lady in it as well, so I ran with it.

(Adding two muses to the list)
(New to this blog is Inui Takumi, Kamen Rider 555.
This is post-series, and for my portrayal of him, Mari's DNA was degrading and Takumi was trying to find a cure for her, to no avail. Then came the incident.
Takumi had been ambushed by another kaijin. It wasn't an Orphnoch, but it was fast, it was strong, and it had him dead to rights. But then, for the first, and only time, the Faiz Driver reacted to Mari's wishes, and she was able to transform. She managed to defeat the monster and save Takumi. Rather than be ashed, like an Orphnoch, a halo of light appeared above the creature's head and it exploded. Mari used the Accel Watch to grab Takumi and get him away from the explosion, but the effort finally took its toll on Mari. She was able to give the Driver back to Takumi and told him to find a dream worth protecting before she crumbled into ash.
Since then, Takumi has been pulling a Lonely Man. He and the recently rebuilt AutoVaijin have been rolling into different towns and cities every week, finding trouble and resolving it, before riding off again. He hasn't found a dream for himself.
I will have Paradise Lost/Regained verses for him, of course.
Muse #2 is Izuki Akito, the protagonist of Ghostwire:Tokyo.
After the incident with Hannya, Akito kept the promise he made to his parents. He pursued a full and meaningful life, which became easy as all the people he helped save would seek him out to thank him.
He kept KK's bow, which he still uses to plink spooks and specters. And with the talismans he acquired from defeating Hannya, Akito became able to weave ether and keep up elemental damage against spooks.
Ed sent Akito to the outskirts of Tokyo, where he now works with Angela Zeddemore in the local Ghostbusters branch.)

Cover update for Disorder😄
It's getting there! I'm taking my time experimenting with colors and brushes, plus we just had 2 weeks of vacation, so I was a bit more lax on getting stuff done. I also started playing Ghostwire:Tokyo. Ridiculously good that game💖 also, the next storie's 20 pages are scanned in, ready to be inked!

Practice 2 - Inspiration, Artists, and Other influences
As mentioned in previous blogs Ghostwire:Tokyo is a big part of my inspiration for a futuristic Japanese environment, as I am further developing this environment and it’s characters I refer to some other game references. The first being, Ghostrunner, a game set in a cyberpunk, dystopian future, and it follows a cybernetic ninja warrior known as the Ghostrunner, who awakens in a crumbling megastructure called Dharma Tower. The objective is to reclaim the tower and restore order, the Ghostrunner must ascend the tower, and unlock the truth behind his own creation and purpose. Using the character of Ghostrunner helped me picture how my own ninja warrior with a futuristic samurai blade would look like and what would be her purpose in this world.
Other possible references to similar character designs would be to look at Genji, a hero from Overwatch. With its diverse, popular and very recognisable cast of characters I often study character designs from Overwatch. And Genji as a character has similar personality traits to my character. He lives a more carefree lifestyle and his design also reflects that, his body is made up of advanced cybernetics, turning him into a cyber-ninja. Through studying his concept art I got a good idea on how to structure the shape language of my character using his slim silhouette and ninja/samurai stance.
Given that I had the idea for my main character to have a motorbike, I was researching games with motorbikes. One in particular was Trials Fusion and Trial Runner, a series of physics-based racing platformer games developed by Ubisoft RedLynx.These games involve navigating challenging tracks filled with obstacles and pitfalls, requiring precise control of a motorcycle to reach the finish line. The core gameplay involves mastering acceleration, braking, and rider positioning to overcome the course's unique challenges. This game was the perfect reference for motorbike artwork as it had a lot of variety and options for customization which can further adjust the shape and look of your bike.
If there was gameplay to this project, I had the idea to go for the Roguelike genre and Beat Em Up style. The main aspect of the game is that the main character gets around the city with her motorbike to fight crime and protect the innocent. She is the hero at every crime scene, which is familiar to a game I recently finished. This style of gameplay really reminds me of the story and combat from the Spider Man games. Not only the main story but also most side missions have an objective to go to a crime scene location in New York and defeat a wave of enemies. From playing the game and doing my own research I can confirm this is a very engaging style of gameplay especially when a leveling system and unlocking new abilities is introduced to the character. I like this formula of gameplay and I wish to pursue it for this project.

Light and Shadow
Character Design
As mentioned above Ghostwire:Tokyo is a big part of my inspiration for this project, to add to the list I would also include cyberpunk and Ghostrunner. To match the neon aesthetic I came up with a cyberpunk-like character with a sword that glows like a lightsaber. She has a brave-thrill chaser personality but is also independent and serious. She had special training to pursue the role of fighting crime in the city. She is able to do that using her blade which cuts through anything and her motorbike to get around quickly.
The design of this character was very fun for me as I was able to take advantage of the bold neon colours and create interesting outfits. I went with a purple and neon green colour scheme, the purple to match with her night time crime fighting and the neon green helps perfectly break down the purple. I believe the two colours clashed but in a fun and chaotic way. I also decided to give her light clothing to fit with her agile ninja playstyle and movement. Furthermore, I aimed to make the clothes feel futuristic to match the city.
Motorbike
With a cyberpunk city environment I wanted to have an attempt at vehicle design, at first I considered a futuristic car but then I thought that a motorbike would fit the main character more. I started off with some sketches and then the final render. I also settled on a purple colour scheme to match the character.
Environment Art
Unlike the previously developed work, this part of the assignment focuses on environmental art, allowing myself to explore other fields in concept art will push me to become a better artist and a more desired artist within the game industry. The light and shadow task focuses on how lighting affects the scene and creates a certain mood for the audience or the player. My Light and Shadow task was based around fluorescent, neon lights in Tokyo, Japan. For this I designed a simple street focusing on a vending machine that perfectly captures this neon lighting at night. To further develop this project I decided to take my focus into, what would the environment look like outside of the still frame on the vending machine. I created three different viewpoints of the city still keeping in mind the aspect of neon lights. Throughout each environment piece I try to include neon signs or neon lighting reflected on buildings. The first angel of the city focuses on the highest buildings and their neon lights and some distant buildings. The second art features the main character looking down at the city from a fence next to a cat. I did the character and the cat as silhouettes because I didn’t want them to pull away from the focus of the city. This angel is a little lower and we can see a little deeper into this futuristic city. The final artwork for the environment is an action shot with the main character speeding off on the motorbike. For this I used a two point perspective while the horizon line is slightly tilted to the left. With this one I wanted to showcase the city from a ground level point of view. This final artwork also nicely combines my art for this developed project, by including the main character, the motorbike and the city in the background.

Blog Post 2: Symbolism in video games
In my second blog post, I would like to explore the narrative structure and symbolism in video games. More specifically I want to take an in-depth look at Ghostwire:Tokyo, a game I played recently, and I think a very fitting example for the topic of this blog. This game stems from Japanese culture and is filled with symbolism and ancient folklore for the player to learn about and interpret throughout the game.
Plot
Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action adventure game with horror elements. The storyline is confusing in some parts but filled with reference and symbolism to Japanese culture.
The setting is set in Tokyo, Japan.The city is consumed by a fog known as “The Vanishing”. The fog contains spiritual energy so strong that it separates people’s body’s from their souls. You play as Akito who gets possessed by a spirit called KK. Right before he gets possessed, Akito was in a motorcycle accident but KK used his body as a vessel and prevented him from death.
Akito also now has elemental powers which lets him use ethereal weaving and he is able to defeat the spirits.The use of ethereal magic called ethereal weaving is allowing you to drag spirits to the underworld and even devour them. These spirits come from another world hence their name “The Visitors”. They vary in appearance but some are actually based on Japanese urban legends and others are born from certain character traits such as; violence, rage and anxiety. The powers are also used to clear out the fog by cleansing the Torii gates.
I would like to focus on a few characters as I believe they push forward a big part of the narrative of the story.
Akito and KK
You play the game as Akito, who was involved in a motorcycle accident at Shibuya crossing. In the first cutscene we learn that the main character is already facing loss and death, not only from his parents death but also his sister Marie, who fell into a coma due to her body being badly burnt in a fire. We find out Akito doesn’t survive the accident but as he is hovering between the balance of life and death a ghostly presence enters Akito’s body and possesses him. He starts to hear voices in his head and we find the spirit in his body is called KK.
KK was a private investigator who worked on cases regarding the disappearances in the city. He worked with his partner Rinko who died in the fog but was able to help us throughout the game like she always did for KK symbolising their connection and friendship.We also learn Hanya killed KK but then he came back to get revenge, Hanya also took Akito’s sister which makes Akito and KK to work together to achieve their mutual goals
Hanya
The developers have used narrative and symbolism in a very interesting way for Hanya. He is the main villain of the game, a character who has a kind heart and wants to be reunited with his family. His wife and daughter died and he wants to be eternally with them, however, in order to do that Hanya wants to harvest human souls through a ritual in order to connect the mortal world to the underworld. His family has already moved on when they passed away but he is not ready to accept that reality.Throughout the game we learn that he mentions he finds the very concept of death difficult to accept which then leads him to act on his sinister plan. Furthermore, in every cutscene he wears a demon mask which is fitting considering he is willing to sacrifice every soul in Tokyo in order for him to complete the ritual and merge the mortal world with the underworld. However, some may also infer that the mask hides away his pain from the loss of his family. You could say he has good intentions but with an evil solution.
Uses of symbolism
As Akito and KK make their way through the foggy city they come across corrupted Torii gates and corrupted cherry blossom trees. In Japanese culture, a Torii gate is a traditional Japanese gate marking the transition from the mundane to the sacred and also the living to the dead. Cherry blossoms represent the nature of life itself symbolising both life and death. The trees we see in-game have turned blood red as a result of the corruption. The game uses symbolism to tell the story through Japanese culture.
Ending:
Near the end of the game, the ritual is nearly complete, Hanya jumps into the void. A very chilling and empty area similar to the setting of silent hill or evil within. We defeat Hanya and we get a very bittersweet ending. Akito frees all the souls in the city and in return his soul returns back to his body and he gets to live on. With Hanya defeated KK is also ready to move on. As for Marie she fulfilled her role to protect her brother against Hanya and the other corrupted spirit. We get an emotional cutscene of her parents standing past the torii gate. She crosses the gate reaching out to hug them and they all move on. Akito returns back to Tokyo and with all the other souls.
In conclusion I find the use of narrative techniques and symbolism through Japanese culture in a game a very interesting way to tell a story. I would also like to try to apply it to my own work whenever I create pieces of concept art.

“Yippie, nothing but a repeat of the same old bullshit KK muttered as he slipped behind you, his hand on your hip. “Now how about we skip this bullshit and do some actual celebration.”
Ignoring the slight shiver that ran up your spine, you lent back into your husbands embrace as the man placed a small kiss to your neck. “Must you always be thinking about sex.”
Scoffing, Kk let his chin rest on your shoulder as his breath ticked your skin. “Hey! I died and came back….I think I’m allowed a little freedom of wanting to fuck my wire.”
“Ugh I don’t even want to think about all that happened, it still confuses me…which reminds me…did you send Akito a thank you basket? I mean from what Rinko told me-.”
“Rinko needs to mind her own damn business.” Kk huffed turning his head away as a laugh escaped your lips.
Turning to face the man you cupped his cheeks smiling. “If it wasn’t for Rinko then we wouldn’t be here now would we?”
“I’ll send her a thank you card.” KK muttered rolling his eyes as another laugh escaped your lips.
Standing on your toes you then locked your arms around his neck. “Good boy.”
Pressing your lips against his you felt the man tighten his hold just as the fire works shot off. Bright colors illuminating the sky but none of that mattered right now because underneath the popping colors you had the man you loved in your arms and you weren’t planing on letting him go again.
