why jungwon is the only one who can save sunoo from his villain arc.

to start, we need to look at given-taken.

during their stay at the orphanage, sunoo is seen unleashing his vampiric instincts onto jungwon, biting him and turning him into a vampire. this is what kicks off the story, of course, but this is more than a simple bite. this is more than survival.

they’re in a room together, playing alone. this implies an intimacy between them that is absent from the other members. they trust each other, almost to a fault. maybe that’s why sunoo bites jungwon specifically.

everyone else is away. he just needs to spend eternity with his best friend.

sunoo is later seen sobbing and holding a teddy bear he once found comfort in. he’s in the same room as before, but without jungwon in sight.

sunoo has been hurt severely. he has no one to cry to anymore, just the teddy bear that represents the ruins of his childhood. jungwon has left him; a betrayal he won’t recover from. they were supposed to be immortal together, right?

but there’s more to this, because jungwon was the one to lead them out of the orphanage and thus destroy their relationship.

let me explain.

in let me in (20 cube), the cube the members are trapped in symbolizes the orphanage and their inability to live in the outside world. they’re forced to hide; to stay trapped forever.

that is, until jungwon decides to break them out.

jungwon is the first one we see to charge forward towards the edge of the cube. he wants freedom more than anything, no matter the consequences.

so, he wanders and finds the truth that’s escaped the boys for their whole lives: jungwon must bring the members out and destroy the cube they’re stuck inside of.

so he does.

however, this has consequences for sunoo in tamed-dashed (japanese version).

in the ruins of their orphanage, sunoo finds his charred teddy bear: the corpse of the child he once was.

until now, sunoo has followed jungwon’s lead. they’ve been a team. but now his whole life has been uprooted. he wanted to live forever, yes, but that didn’t mean he wanted to destroy the past in favor of the future.

he stares at the bear with silent grief as the others look at him with unsaid judgement. but sunoo must move on. he always has.

onto tamed-dashed (korean version), the members, including sunoo, stumble upon a rugby ball. this ball becomes a new symbol. though, not for sunoo’s innocence. the ball is the companionship the brothers share.

sunoo reaches for the ball as his brothers watch on. he grabs it, looking for a game, or maybe he has never seen it before and is curious, just as jungwon does.

but what impact does this longing for connection have on sunoo?

it burns him as soon as he touches it. hot, searing pain. but the other members do nothing. that seems to be a pattern in sunoo’s eyes.

from this point on, sunoo is alone in tamed-dashed. he dresses in black robes, as if to hide the scars that have come from years of longing.

he stands at the edge of the forest where they found the ball in the first place. he hasn’t moved on. he’s stuck in the place where his brothers watched him burn and did nothing.

but what happened to jungwon?

he keeps a rugby ball in his locker at the high school the boys now occupy. he’s living freely, just as he wanted. he plays rugby with his brothers, always connected to them.

but unlike the others, he feels something amiss with sunoo. he kickstarts a game of rugby. it’s not immediately clear why, until the ball is thrown towards sunoo.

and suddenly, his perspective on the world shifts.

the boys have always been with sunoo. they escaped with him, and followed behind him all this time. he just never thought to forgive, nor to look back.

all because jungwon, the boy he saw as the image of destruction and casualty, extended a hand.

sunoo may have never forgotten what happened at the orphanage, but jungwon never forgot how much he cared for sunoo.

Its really infuriating how common it is to overstep, ignore and ridicule the boundaries of people who want non-romantic sex / sexual relationships. Yes, including if they’re alloromantic.

It doesn’t matter how open you are about your boundaries around romance and love; how often you repeat to whoever you fuck that you don’t want romance, that you won’t fall for them, etc., once they fall in love with you, you are the bad guy for not loving them back, for not wanting a romantic relationship, for not ~getting over your fear of commitment~

And when you point out how fucked up that is to people who’ll call themselves allies to aromantic people, often they’ll respond "well, they never said they were aromantic!" Cause like. Hot take i guess but alloromantic people don’t deserve to be forced into romantic relationships, either. If the only way you can accept someone not wanting a romantic relationship is if they’re aromantic, know they’re aromantic, and will out themself to you unprompted, you don’t actually accept that decision, like, at all. Because that person, yknow, could very well be aromantic and just they haven’t told anyone because they don’t want to, because it wouldn’t be safe, or even just because they don’t fucking know because aromanticism is still a very unknown thing.

And even if they’re not, this type of treatment is still incredibly fucked up in exactly the same way! Because guess what, alloromantic people can be romance repulsed, too! And it’s not something that needs to be fixed for them, either!!

It shouldn’t be so fucking normal for people to publicly boast about how they "tricked" or pressured or just straight-up forced their sexual partners into a romantic relationship and be celebrated for it as if that shit was even remotely funny. It’s disgusting.

One of the reasons why I love Steddie is how sweet Eddie was with Steve in the forest scene. That’s what got me into this ship. It was nice to see someone being patient and kind to Steve like that and it coming from someone like Eddie who viewed Steve so differently means a lot.

I loved how he told him how much Dustin looks up to him, making Steve smile and even after that wanting to joke around a little to make Steve laugh as well.

It was such a nice change, because all the other scenes we just see him bickering with someone or people making him seem stupid when he asks questions. Eddie didn’t make fun of him for not knowing Ozzy like he probably would have prior to things and instead let it be and called Steve cool. I love them.

Hello, and thank you for your ask. First, my apologies for excessive delay.

Second, while I have yet to lay hands on a copy of any of the Siren periodicals myself, I have heard of it ... a cursory search of Worldcat shows that there are a few libraries in the USA (University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI, the Ohio State Library in Columbus, OH, and the Cornell University Library in Ithaca, NY) that may have copies of that magazine in their archives. Otherwise, it appears there are a number of Canadian libraries that have copies. See the details here. A Yale University guide from 2005 also claims to have a few of the magazines (See here.)

Worldcat is a pretty good resource, but of course it often doesn't capture the potential catalogue of every archive out there. If you are looking for in-person copies, I'd recommend studying a map of your area to see what colleges and libraries that might conveniently be in your area, and then perusing the internet for any associated websites these libraries and colleges might have. With any luck, they may have an online record listing their current archival contents. Any library or archive with a dedicated LGBT+ section might show promise ... and you can always ask that same archive if they know of any other archive with copies, if they themselves lack copies of the Siren magazine. (I would go for college archives first, personally.)

Going off wild guess, I would assume that within the USA, the best chances of finding a physical copy might lie with archives relatively close to Toronto, Canada, as that was where the magazine was originally published. State-wise, Toronto's closest neighbors are Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago, Illinois has something ... I love the libraries over there, quite extensive.

As for online copies of Siren, I haven't run across an issue yet. If this changes, I'll report my findings with a reply to this same ask.

Making this post the day after father's day but as much as people love hehe Buck got baby trapped jokes, a very important part of Buck's character is that he wants and chooses to be there. Eddie is not off loading Chris onto Buck, he is giving Buck the trust and purpose that he is always trying to earn/find. Eddie dropping Chris off when Buck was not allowed to work was for Buck, not himself or even Chris, because he knew that Buck felt useless and trusting him with that responsibility is what Buck needed. Buck loves Chris and finds genuine enjoyment and fulfillment in being a part of his life. A big part of who Buck is is his desire to help people and his love for his family and friends (and that includes Chris)
