This is what it looks like when a file starts to haunt itself.

The image above documents an experiment in format decay and digital translation, an attempt to process and reprocess a video file across multiple conversions until the digital body starts to show signs of wear.

Each iteration distorts something:

The first file (MP4) maintains high resolution but carries embedded metadata from its conversion site.

The MPEG versions shift in size, reinterpreting color profiles and frame dimensions, making the image softer, blurrier, almost smudged by time.

The GIF, arguably the most archival format of them all, flattens motion into loops, trapping the ghost in a limbo.

The background, a default desktop wallpaper, remains untouched and acts as a hyperreal landscape against which the ghost repeats and degrades.

At what point does a file stop being a file and start being an apparition?

Photoshop experiments: Tiffany and I decided to try out some projection photography as we were both very interested in experimenting with its effects. But while working on it, we realized that ideally, it was projection ‘mapping’ that we were both after (we are keen to learn that at some point!). So we played around with a projector and a Nikon D800, and tried out the effects we got by projecting different photos of different hues and brightness. I was in full black and Tiff had on a lighter outfit so the effects we got were very different. Also as our skin tones were of different shades, we each reflected light very differently- certain colours bounced off differently.

Either way, I wasn’t too happy with the results we got so I decided to play around with them on Photoshop and try out some irregular glitch-y effects.

My new favorite thing to do in Overwatch is run around with my sis and spam the “I’m with you,” voiceline to one another. 

Extra points when we’re a particular ship like Gency or McHanzo.

Last Night In Overwatch I was messing around with the AI as McCree. During the victory screen I started dancing and turned around to see our Hanzo dancing with me.

I used to play Gency with another person on Overwatch and it was so sweet. But they “dumped” me for a bunch of other Mercys. Too bad I found playboy Genji.

I rarely play in custom games but there’s nothing like seeing all the dumb names there are. Hands down the weirdest I’ve seen is:
