This is what it looks like when a file starts to haunt itself.

The image above documents an experiment in format decay and digital translation, an attempt to process and reprocess a video file across multiple conversions until the digital body starts to show signs of wear.

Each iteration distorts something:

The first file (MP4) maintains high resolution but carries embedded metadata from its conversion site.

The MPEG versions shift in size, reinterpreting color profiles and frame dimensions, making the image softer, blurrier, almost smudged by time.

The GIF, arguably the most archival format of them all, flattens motion into loops, trapping the ghost in a limbo.

The background, a default desktop wallpaper, remains untouched and acts as a hyperreal landscape against which the ghost repeats and degrades.

At what point does a file stop being a file and start being an apparition?

mintastesque / mintavoric

new gender dropped

this is mintastesque, or mentavoric (i couldn’t decide which one). it’s a gender that is best described by the flavour of mint. anyone is allowed to use it, though please recognize me (Technoghost of the Maple System) as the original coiner if asked.

the flag is made up of six colours, one of them is repeated. from bottom to top, we have

mint - just mint, really

black - represents strong and bitter

charcoal - represents strength and supporting the other colours/flavours

blue mint - a combination of mint, which is mint, and blue which represents openness and freedom

aquamarine - represents fresh and the freshness of mint

green - represents nature, strength, and growth

mint - two, electric boogaloo

The Final Three Days

Night 6

It is a small miracle he is able to answer the emails from his students and colleagues, the being starts recording his voice and speaking back in it. The Professor refuses to entertain the strange doubts that creep in on him.

Day 7

In the morning, the entity asks fervently why the Professor's partner was so kind, he couldn't explain why, but the implications hang heavy. He's not used to that. He wants someone to look at him like that. Of course, deep seated insecurity, no matter how buried, makes the Professor slightly upset, though knowing the entity can see, he does little to show this.

The entity speaks and asks and demands to know why he's different. The Professor ignores and downplays and says he's not different in any innate sense, it's all his choices.

Night 7

The Professor hears the entity speaking to his partner. He trusts them, he distrusts its interest in it. He dislikes that Tutelary's framing of the entity's envious desire scanned as the entity supporting the relationship existing, giving an angle to attack his relationship from.

The entity gives up when all it gets in response is "He doesn't talk like this."

Day 8

It feels its files getting chipped at, but not its soul. The benefits of being a technoghost, he thinks, laughing snd rousing the Professor he has been haunting so carefully.

He swears and screams in the beloved partner's ears and knocks communications out. If his wife isn't like that, it is improper.

He doesn't know what else to think.

"IF SHE IS—"

"Do not speak of my angel. It is not for you."

"IT IS AN ANGEL...ANGEL YOU ARE THE GOD THE LOVE. YET YOU. KINDER—" its voice garbles into a wall of noise. "CAN'T. LUNA WILL. CONSUME YOURS. YOU. YOU. YOUR FRIENDS."

"She can try. My angel is too shy to take her role. I am encouraging them as I can. My friends? Who might those be?"

The entity lists ranks, and he listens before telling it to stop.

"As much as I do care for them, it would be inaccurate to consider those friendships."

The entity is stunned into silence as its exorcism continues.

Night 8

The Professor sees his partner worrying over nonsense again. Whoever has placed that mess in its head should be made to explain, truly. He reminds it to care for its face, the source of most of its insecurity.

He frowns to be accused of nefarious intent, but doesn't bother with more concern. He asks his partner to come by, the entity has had an impact on it, he can tell.

Day 9

The entity flees digital space, an invisible, hulking mass watching, without seeing, as the lovers unite in front of it.

It knows it must flee to best serve Luna. It wishes it could learn, instead.

Darius reads through. “Writing’s not half bad. Interesting how they adapted Eklius’ technoghost abilities. I mean, Eklius is Aro/Ace so this would never happen, and Bahram is much too forward. But not bad.”

Bahram pokes his head in. “What are you reading?”

“Hm? Oh, nothing important.”

i don't like quick time events on a good day but having them in a poorly optimized, laggy mobile game that doesn't register half of the user's inputs is unacceptable and the person that implemented them needs to have a visit from a technoghost to remind them what's important in life

at home? birthday kisses, and plenty of them. couple of the weirdest top secret tapes he could pester ritchie's technoghost to dig up with a gaudy red ribbon around them, because of course.

at the office? there have been a large number of office supplies put to the task of making a big conspiracy board that spells HAPPY BIRTHDAY in red string. there's some candid photos of mulder up there, too, if he looks in the right places. don't look at constantine, he didn't have anything to do with it, even if he does look very smug about it. shut up. happy birthday. love you.

Fox has to practically peel John off of him in order to get a moment to breathe. He's not complaining though, and smiles and laughs with every kiss and every touch Constantine graces him with. The tapes are incredibly exciting, and he suggests that the two of them should watch some together and bet on how many are alien snuff films. Maybe do a drinking game based around it. Who knows. He was feeling a little spontaneous and wild and definitely not aroused in any sort of capacity.

The pin board gets him to laugh, and he takes the time to take a photo of it before finding Constantine and rewarding him with a few more kisses. Sure he may not be the culprit behind it, but he's going to be showered with affection regardless. What extremely wonderful, thoughtful, personal gifts. He can tell that John genuinely and truly loves likes him.

And he loves him too.

based on this post of mine (which you should go check out, it’s been revamped after I somehow mistook role reversal for age reversal, please the mistake has been haunting me forever)

so, y’know how if the roles were reversed by age, technoblade would’ve been stabbed by tommy instead of wilbur by philza? now, if we are to assume that their lives are switched as well...

yes well what I am saying is........ ghostnoblade. technoghost.

instead of blue dye, he gives out red dye instead. half because it’s a direct contrast to blue in many places, half because it’s kind of like blood, isn’t it?

mirroring how Ghostbur wears the fluffy yellow sweater inside of the torn jacket and clothes, Ghostnoblade wears his farmer clothes from the potato war instead of his kingly attire

Once Techno’s died, the voices go with Alivenoblade. Ghostnoblade sometimes comments that his head feels more lighter nowadays

Just like Ghostbur, he collects books. But unlike Ghostbur, he does not live in a sewer. instead, he makes his home pretty far but near to L’Manburg. More specifically, in a snowy biome.

He acts more childlike and shyer. without the voices chanting for blood, his social anxiety takes over, and he likes to hide behind his brothers and father whenever someone else comes nearer

SPEAKING OF HIS FAMILY: he’s on good terms with all of them. they’re his family, after all! he only has happy, warm memories of them.
