First Scene
This is the first scene of my narrative video piece. When designing this scene i wanted to include an early 1900's style of video overlapped on top of the video. This gives the impression that it was set around this time. I think to make my location recognisable i need to include little aspects that suggest a certain time period. By making people aware of the location gets them involved more into the story and guessing as to where he is. When i make films i think it is important to get the audience involved within the film as they are more likely to remember it when they connect with it, otherwise its likely to forget and not have as much impact.
To get rid of the green screen behind i had to use a key light effect, this however didn't remove all of it so i had to manually mask out the rest. This will take longer in scenes further on however i will have to do it as i do not know another way. This may hinder my final production as the length of time spent on this will remove time spent on detail.

Stop Motion Animation
I wanted to make a stop motion experiment because i thought if i tested various ways of animation it may give me more ideas of what to do later on for my final pieces. In this simple experiment i tested it with coins. When making this experiment i found it hard to keep the camera in the same position, a tripod would have helped a lot with it. I like by using stop motion it gives a unique look, for example coins do not move on their own but by using stop motion animation you can achieve this. This example took to around 200 photos. I didn't really have a plan for this experiment i just wanted to see how something simple of moving a coin could be in making a stop motion animation.
I originally wanted it to look downwards however i couldn't hold it still enough for the animation to be a better quality. If i was going to improve of this stop motion for further experiments i would defiantly have to use a tripod to make the procces easier.

My adventure story V1
A man (Named Steve), keen on his cars, one day wakes up to one of his most horribly nightmares. He begins his day by walking out of his room and eagerly wanting to get in his car. As he steps into his 1930's car he is magically transported to a place of no return. Nothing is as it seems, parts of his car and his own body parts is flying all around them. Suddenly, all comes to a halt and Steve is placed where has not been before. Bewildered as to what has gone on he steps out of car with his A to Z to try and see where he may be. Wizz! and arrow shoots over his head. Unknowingly Steve carry's on reading. Wizz! Steve gets confused and looks to his left as a roar of unfamiliar voices get closer and closer. 'What the hell' Steve whispers. From both ways soldiers wearing medieval costumes charge at him, shouting and screaming as if they were going to war! They were. All in astonishment Steve doesn't know what to do and is pummelled to the ground and blacks out. When he wakes the suns glare beats onto his face blinding him from every direction, as he regains consciousness to his amazement he is surrounded by dead bodies. Whats going on? Where is Steve? As he struggles to get to his feet his realises that he is no longer from where he came from. He is in another Time Period! He wobbles helplessly back to his car and as he sits WHOOOSH off he goes again.
Imeadiatly he spawns into a cold land, chills run down Steve's neck. Crack! The ice beneath him begins to break. Eventually it snaps into to and Steve is drenched by the Ice cold water. As he looks left, then right it reveals he is surrounded by Piranhas! Dozens and dozens of them surround him. Is this it? Is this the end of Steve? From all angles the deadly fish begin to swim towards him to that second he is about to be eaten alive he is transported once again.
He drops from a height and lands on his ankle. Injured, Steve regains his footing and looks around for safety. However no one is to be seen. Nothing except the beautiful landscape of a tropical forest. There was no time to enjoy the scenery as massive rumbles get bigger and bigger. Steve imeadialty, in anticipation of something horrible, turns around. A small cute bunny emerges. A sigh of reelif enters Steve. Suddenly and T-Rex eats the bunny and chases Steve. Miles he was running. When is this going to end Steve thought to himself. 'This isn't my most favourite of days' he said. Something shone in the distance. Could it be? 'My Car' Steve shouted. He imeadialty changes direction and gets in the car. However he is not going anywhere and the T-Rex is getting closer and closer. Right at the last second he is transported for the last time to his home town.
'Thank God!' Steve said. As he was about to sit back in his comfy chair a strange whizz went by. He turned around and looks out the window. He is in the Future.

Key framing Animation
In this animation i tried to create a simple yet funny animation. I kept it short because i felt i could get something that produces humour to the audience and still acquires the key frame animation.
When researching different animation examples i found out that characters are created by using basic shapes. For example in this experiment the chicken is mostly formed out of circles. This is done to keep the animation simple and friendly. When creating a simple animation you do not want complex characters confusing the audience.
With this short animation experiment i wanted to show how i could possibly create an animated scenario to create a story. By making an animation i think i could push the boundaries as to the location that i choose to make a narrative final piece in. For example i may want to shoot a scene in Egypt, however i don't want to fly to Egypt just for one scene. By making an animation i can easily make a scene look as if it is in Egypt or some other mystical location that will please the audience.
However i would have to draw my animations off primary images, in this example i did not but in future i will make sure that all my drawings are based off primary imagery.

This experiment i wanted to try if i could recreate the monopoly picture that i created in the style of Paul M Smith. I wanted to also do it in video because i felt that i could be able to do it and would give a slightly different twist on his work. In this experiment i also included the still images of myself, however within the video it didn't give the same effect that i wanted. The lighting turned out to be a slightly more dark that i wanted, i tied to adjust this on After Effects however it seemed to make it worse. I think i like the idea of making things into a video, this is because i helps tell the narrative of the picture much better.
When positioning the camera i wanted to include the characters as if they were on opposite teams, so the best way i thought to do this was by moving them to the opposite side of the composition. This way the audience can tell that they are against each other as the divide in the table signifies this. When looking at some of Paul M Smith's work i got the sense of atmosphere so i decided to create an atmosphere as tension heats up between two characters as on wins and the other looses.

Green Screen Example
To create the story that i have chosen i am going to use the green screen to get the effect that i want. This is because i want place myself on a background which i might create myself or use secondary images of places. This will make it much easier than going to different places to get the right atmosphere for the story line. When doing this i realised that i couldn't get my feet in front of the green screen, this mean that i will have to rotoscope the whole clip or cut of my feet.
This experiment was much more successful than my last green screen experiment because i used an actual green screen rather than a bed sheet. I like the use of the green screen because it allows me to have a more creative aspect for the background as to where i want to place myself within the scene.

Rough Green Screen Experiment
In this experiment i looked at green screening. In this case i tried a blue screen as i didn't have anything green. I wanted to look at green screen because i think it can give a good effect, making things appear where they are not. This can be useful in i want to include a moving object on top of a still image. I think that this would make my videos more unique and creative. However when i tried making it for myself the green screen that i used wasn't very effective and the blue didn't work as i hoped. It for some reason removed my fingers instead of the blue background. If i wanted to experiment with this effect a bit more i would have to use an actual green screen not a bed sheet.

In this experiment i wanted to create something different, so i decided to create a camera which zooms into the earth as if you are is falling. I wanted to create a storyline that has a very loose narrative because i wanted to test my After Effects skills that i have. By doing more tests using after effects i think that i could find a feature which i will be satisfied with improving my overall quality of my final piece.
When studying Kyle Cooper i realised that he uses a lot of effects and CGI to create his work, i too wanted to use this and see what experiments i could create using some of his methods. These methods included what software to create CGI on and the illusion to make my camera seem as if its falling from out of space. At the start of the experiment i didn't want the zoom to be too obvious as to what is about to happen, so i decided to offset the position the earth to the right of the composition to make it seem as a zoom wasn't possible. I felt this added to the surprise and wonder as to how it was created.
I like in this piece how the bright colours of the iconic earth stands out from the bland space and stars. If the two had been conflicting with the tones too similar then it wouldn't have made the audience away of where they are in space. For instance if the earth was a darker tone then the viewer would have to take a couple seconds to realise that they are in space in which the animation may be half way through completing its cycle.
If i had to create another piece with CGI i think i would have to include an element of wonder as to how it was created but at the same time have a story to follow.
