There has been some backlash towards the anon who sent in the ‘darkest confession’, which is unacceptable and uncalled for.

Due to that, the post has been deleted BUT there are a few things I would like to get off my chest:

The rude and derogatory comments/assumptions about this individual and their personal hygiene based off a literal joke are absurd and distasteful.

Furthermore, the notion that body hair is unhygienic is not only scientifically inaccurate but perpetuates harmful societal pressures on women, which are fundamentally unjust and very fucking damaging.

Are we going to act like we all don’t have body hair? Like we’ve never forgotten to shave or put off shaving for too long? Lmao

Those of you who get waxed, do you not have to wait 3-4 weeks before your next appointment? What is that hair looking like by week 3? Would you consider that unhygienic?

Exactly. Wrap that discourse up immediately, quickly, and with urgency.

To those who felt what was said was insulting to J - you’re obligated to feel how you feel but, just know, the anon has made it clear that it was a joke and they meant no harm.

The gag is, it was also a fact…lol. His beard doesn’t connect. End of discussion. You can compare it to whatever you want 🤷🏽‍♀️

Finally got my camera working! The lighting/white balance/blur/etc is a little off since I'm still figuring out how it all works and because this is a cheap-ass camera as far as cameras go, but I'm definitely having a nice time with it. No post-processing, just the jpegs straight out of the camera (hence consistent underexposure).

It was a fairly normal night in Kildare County. Which, for JJ Maybank, meant they weren’t being chased around, shot at, or cursed out. The Pogues were all scattered around John B’s house, curled up in various places, and in various stages of sleep. Only Kiara was outside, laying down in the hammock.

JJ made his way over, slipping in with her easily. She took his arms and wrapped them around herself, and JJ chuckled. She wasn’t asleep, then.

“You know what’s really stupid?” Kiara murmured, tracing patterns into his skin.

“What?” JJ said back, shifting slightly so he could hear her better.

“We never went to prom.”

JJ couldn’t deny he was surprised. That sounded more along the lines of something Sarah would say, reminiscing about their lives before, what they might have been, the experiences they missed out on. JJ imagined it then, Kiara in a beautiful dress and him in a run down suit with a crooked bow tie she would pull him in to fix. They would have gone together with the rest of their friends, made fun of the Kooks in attendance and danced their teenage hearts out nonetheless. To his utter surprise, JJ felt a pang in his heart.

Fuck.

Maybe that was what spurred him on to ask, “Wanna dance?”

It was Kie’s turn to repeat the single syllable he’d spoken to her earlier.

“What?”

JJ slid out from the hammock, extending a hand towards Kiara with a rephrasing of his words.

“Dance with me, Kie.”

He didn’t give her room to think about it too much as he continued, “You said it yourself, it’s something we never got to do. That doesn’t mean we can’t try and fix it right now, though.”

For a moment, her face was unreadable. JJ held his breath. Then she smiled, like the moon coming out from behind the clouds, covering him in a beautiful silver glow. That was the magic of Kiara Carrera — she turned even the most ordinary nights into something special.

“I love you,” she told him as she accepted his hand, climbing out of the hammock and placing her hands in the correct positions for dancing.

“I love you too.”

He swallowed quickly, if only to keep the rush of feelings at bay as he started them off. They whirled around outside, Kiara’s laugh painting the night in rich, joyful tones.

“Where did you even learn to do this?”

His voice softened as he answered.

“My mom taught me.”

The softening continued with Kiara’s expression.

“You know she’d be proud of you, right?”

Yeah, I know, got stuck in the back of his throat, so he went with, “I think your parents would be proud of you.”

Kiara snorted.

“Yeah, right.”

It was a touchy subject. Anna and Mike had never liked her hanging around with the Pogues, and they hadn’t exactly warmed up to them even though the adventuring calmed down. JJ spun Kiara out quickly — the mood was too heavy. It worked — giggles streamed past her lips as he twirled her into his arms again.

“Thank you, J,” Kiara whispered, craning her neck up to connect their lips. JJ kissed her back.

Anything he had left to say, she already knew.
