you know what’s great about being an artist? you can be productive while procrastinating on things that actually matter! I decided to use the Character Design part of my brain that hasn���t been used in ages to design Hooper from @goblinspod! Tripe is next on my list but alas, I’ve already procrastinated enough.

Anyways the pilot is fucking fantastic and y’all should listen to it and follow them and give your support! I’m not in the financial position to help with the Crowdfunder but! I can still spread the word!

A new podcast from the creative minds behind Stellar Firma.

The Stellar Firma creators are making a brand new show called GOBLINS, and crowdfunding for it launches this Friday!

(I'm just a random podcast fan, but here's all the info I've gleaned. Yell at me if I'm wrong about anything.)

GOBLINS is a scripted comedy podcast written and performed by:

Tim Meredith (Trexel from Stellar Firma and SF's showrunner)

Ben Meredith (David 7 from SF, Elias from The Magnus Archives, Zolf and Grizzop from Rusty Quill Gaming, and Mathias from The Secret of St Kilda)

Imogen Harris (IMOGEN from SF and Helen from TMA)

Jenny Haufek (Hartro from SF)

Amy Dickinson (Number 1 from SF)

Maddy Searle is working on the show, although I wasn't able to catch what their exact role is. (Sorry!) They edited for Stellar Firma and performed as Vice-Admiral Fun.

Sam Rae is the guest performer in the pilot episode, and it seems like there will be additional guests in future episodes.

THIS FRIDAY, 12th July At 2:00 pm BST, the pilot episode will be released on social media. At 6:30 pm BST, there will be a crowdfunding launch stream on TheBrothersMeredith Twitch channel.

Not many details have been released so far, but the show will feature a lot of English folklore. The main cast consists of two goblins, an elf, a human, and a poltergeist.

GOBLINS is being created independently from Rusty Quill. But I will be tagging RQ anyways because it's relevant to RQ fans, dangit.

I am THIS close to pestering people in their ask boxes just to make sure they've heard.

Happy #AudioDramaSunday wanderers! Starting things off with the return of @tellnotalespod which caused me intense emotional distress :D Listen Leanne I just wanna talk-- Tell No Tales continues to astound and delight and make me cry

@woebegonepod had the return of my beloved Helen Hartley (aka @totcoc0a)! Tot broke my heart!! I love the story that's being built with this season I'm also *so nervous* about the story being built by this season. Whatever happens, it's gonna be amazing

@thecellarletters continues to grip it's claws on my life. I got through episode 23 this week and I have. ConcernsTM. Where did Steve go, Jamie? What happened to my boy Steve? I'm sure I'll find out but until then I'll be vibrating in fear.

I relistened to the @goblinspod pilot and gods yall I really need more of this show so if you could check out their crowdfunder that would be great it's such a good concept and I've missed the Brothers Meredith and their shenanigans so much

My dear friend @louis-dc has just announced his next project: Media Microscope!! You should give their socials a follow because gods it's gonna be such a fun time and there will be many familiar voices as commentators on the show :D

Here on the Fringes I'm continuing the vocal cuts! I love what my cast has done with these characters and I think yall will too

have you ever checked out the magnus protocol transcripts? Because they seem really weird to me, they aren’t transcribing whats in the audio, they are scripts with directions and all. Its bizarre, like they didn’t want to pay someone to do transcripts but also avoid drama?

Thing is, i dont think they are as effective as an accessibility tool as real transcripts would be, what do you think?

I haven’t checked them out, no. I’ve not listened to TMP either and am not planning on it. I’ve spent too much energy and time being salty about RQ’s treatment of their art and people - foremost staff and talents, but also fans - to want to engage with their productions anymore.

From an accessibility perspective, I agree with you that the Script from which the actors read is not a good solution. Actors deviate from written text, improvise and adapt dialogue to flow more naturally or to fit better with their interpretation of a character. Lines get changed, or cut, or rearranged in production, soundscaping gets added that might not have been part of the script, etc.

Having received the script of the pilot episode of @stellarfirmatim’s newest project G.O.B.L.I.N.S as a basis to prepare a proper transcript from, I can tell you that there were a million bits and bobs in the audio that weren’t in the script, but added to atmosphere and theatre of mind

Publishing the Scripts is a low effort - and therefore low cost - way to provide something. These scripts can still be useful, as they can be ctrl+f searched, or they can be used as a source for canonical spelling of names and other things. But as accessibility aids, scripts are not the way to go.

It’s like giving someone who can’t go visit an inaccessible place, a blueprint by an architect, rather than showing them pictures of the finished building. You can see the structure and the setup, but not the flavor and details.

Given you’ve reached out to me about this, I would assume you trust my expertise in these matters. Thank you for that! And if you want a shiny new podcast with high quality transcripts, may I encourage you to check out @goblinspod and the currently running crowdfunding campaign for the production of the whole series. As mentioned, the pilot episode already exists, and comes with a transcript by yours truly.
