Like most of my mental health issues, people having incorrect takes i disagree with about fictional characters i love is multicausal. I'm firmly off twitter, tiktok and, more recently, off instagram as well, so my main source of frustration is tumblr.

Sometimes it's a genius reblogging a vague post about the treatment of victims in fandom and the way it ties to culture irl and thinking it's a reasonable and respectful take to suggest we retcon stories that involve themes of victimhood entirely and not see how this would be out-of-pocket and inappropriate.

Sometimes tumblr.com does the funny thing on my dash where it sees I liked several Steph posts so it shows me a wildly incorrect take from someone so determined to hate onto Jason they'd make Steph into an asshole- and sometimes I get into the notes because I'm a masochist and see someone calling Jason a terrorist for the events of Seeing Red while referring to Mia Dearden as a teenage girl (nevermind that she and jason are practically the same age), a csa victim (several times) and Green Arrow's daughter and sidekick, but never by her actual name. Of course, there's the time I made the mistake of going into the Mia tag because (god forbid) I wanted to find art of one of my favourite characters to reblog. Honestly the mia & jason discourse made me angrier on behalf of Mia than Jason tbh.

There's also the frequent tendency of people to maintag jason hate, which comes from I believe two sources. First there's the people who love to hate Jason and don't realize it's still not a positive post for the character (i.e. "bftc is actually good! People just need to accept that jason is an obsessive little psycho, he's actually in character in it he's just evil and I love him for that, he's one of my favourite crazy evil fucked up guys :3 love how fucked up in the head he is"/ or "jason's hypocrisy is a core element of his character and that's what makes him interesting, him going after children (never mind that jason mia and tim are all in the same age range and they're all in their late teens at that point) but having a no drugs for children policy is a super important factor that gets referenced in later comics (i.e. bftc/morrison's b&e) and I love how complex and flawed that makes him!!"). And course, there's also the people who think it's appropriate to put hate in the character tag, both towards his fans and towards the character, which is how we end up with "jt fans steal the trait of being a victim of sexual abuse from female characters because of misogyny" in the character tag ending up on my dash.

I don't tend to understand fanfic as "takes", because fanfic is transformational work yadda yadda just because I don't like the characterization doesn't mean I should make assumptions on what the author's actual knowledge and opinions on canon are. However, sometimes people will write things in their author note that are definitely opinions, maybe to explain or justify their fic I don't know, which is how sometimes you'll be browsing ao3 and find yourself face to face with a fic about Morrison era Jason, a csa survivor, sexually abusing Sasha, and an author note that states "Jason Todd is a hypocrite and I write him as one". (Come to think of it, all those posts about hypocrisy are starting to make me think i'll have to make a side-point about cognitive dissonance in my personality meta 😮‍💨). So sometimes, it's ao3.

And of course, sometimes my lovely mutuals vent to me on discord or dms about the discourse they have seen, like phenomenally vapid shallow comparisons of James Gordon Junior and Jason Todd that vividly ignore how fucked up Dick's behaviour was in the only era where that comparison would make sense and hide behind a nothingburger to avoid acknowledging the psychophobic nature of their take. And sometimes, in those situations, I get so annoyed about it that, after checking out the source (because I'm a principled hater) I will vague about it myself.

Honestly I'm trying to tone it down because this blog is supposed to be fun and interesting and I know I've been pretty negative recently (probably related to my extremely stressed current situation but who knows) but, yeah. That's where it comes from.

Yes!! This was actually the first DR script I ever made!!!

Ao No Exorcist was my first big hyperfixation, and unfortunately it was tainted by someone who fucked me up pretty badly. I still somewhat hesitate to indulge in it occasionally. I wrote this DR script to heal the trauma that person afflicted on me and reclaim my first comfort.

This DR was written based off my first OC/persona I ever created, because it was for this fandom! I rewrote it, as I initially created the OC when I was 12, but a lot of it still hits the same beats.

In my AnE DR, I had an ancestor who became a notorious serial killer and just before her death, made a pact with Satan prophesizing that she would be reborn as a demon. Two hundred years later, I am born with a tail and horns. My family has been closely tied to the Vatican since my ancestor's prophecy, so as soon as I was born, I was trained to be the Order's ultimate weapon. Attending True Cross Academy is actually the first time I'm stepping foot outside of my family home for a semi-free life. I'm a near perfect exorcist. I'm an aria, a dragoon and a knight. As I have quite literally been doing this since I could talk, I'm easily the most able bodied student in the class. I'm the perfect student and I'm only attending True Cross because of formalities and terms within the Order.

Then Okumura came. And suddenly, I'm no longer the Order's ultimate weapon. My entire life has been ripped away from me because some guy dumber than a pile of rocks happens to be the child of Satan. As soon as I saw him, I knew I had to be better than him. There's an event scripted where we have to fight each other, life or death, and I forfeit once I have him pinned. I can't bring myself to do it because at that point, we've become friends. Good friends. The first I've ever had. He and the other exwires stop the Order from executing me for forfeiting.

I one time saw a post talking about ATLA vs TLoK and how they're antithesis of each other. One is about a person learning to be an Avatar, the other is an Avatar learning to be a person. My story is the Korra to Rin's Aang.

My DR follows the Manga, so I am going to have a... Very busy year. Actually, I might expand it to cover the entirety of our highschool years. But!

Kuro and I communicate frequently. At one point, he talks to Rin about how much he likes me and how much I talk to him and keep him company. Rin, being stupid and not knowing I'm a demon yet, is just like "oh that's nice dear :)"

Although I'm not looking for the doctor class, I do know a lot of basic medical procedures and demonic cures.

I can sort of glamour myself to appear human. My true form is 12 feet tall and looks like a xenomorph and an anime girl had a love child. During the illuminati arc, when I find Shima, I reenact the other mother's reveal scene ("I'll give you to the count of three").

I AM changing the timeline to be more modern-ish, around the time social media and smart phones are becoming more popular. So I, a very sheltered child, am instantly hooked on the internet lol Im not necessarily a NEET or otaku (especially not nearly as bad as Mephisto) but I definitely get caught on all the whimsy of all these new, imaginative sources of entertainment.

Rin and I gradually become friends after he's forced to train with those candles. I'm constantly training in that room so we just naturally started talking more. Shura and Yukio also trust me enough to watch him, since they're already aware of my secret.

My husband and I are lucky enough to live less than an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park, and my god…the stupid behavior I have seen from people.

Some of it isn't dangerous, just damaging — I will absolutely scold offer polite guidance to people who cut corners on switchbacks, for example.

But the number of people who visit in mid to late October and then seem surprised that there's snow on trails. You are nearly two miles up, here! It's a different climate! (Ditto people who visit in April and are surprised to find 5-6 feet of snow on the trail to Dream Lake. It's not spring up here for at least another month, month and a half!)

Of course, they still end up trying to hike the snowy, slippery trails, where all the high traffic routes freeze into sheets of ice as soon as they're out of direct sunlight. And far too few of them have spikes for their boots, either. I'm honestly shocked how few injuries we've seen.

I just think, "Did you do no research before scheduling your trip?!" I cannot imagine going to a place like this and not checking the typical weather for the time of year, getting necessary supplies, and making sure I knew what to expect.

Also, my husband and I both carry 40L daypacks on day hikes. We always have extra layers (including rain protection in the non-snowy months), food, medicine, first aid, emergency blankets, plenty of water (at least 5L plus whatever is in our drinking bottles to start with)…all the Ten Essentials. Plus a GPS with satellite comms and SOS.

And binoculars, but those are just for fun.

But the number of times we have been asked in the winter, "Are you camping overnight?" A 40L pack isn't small, but…do you even see room here for a sleeping bag, let alone a tent and mattress pads?!? 😮‍💨

These are incredibly beautiful places, and I think people deserve to experience them, but folks also need to recognize that our parks can be very dangerous if not shown the proper amount of respect.

And don't even get me started on people who approach or harass the elk! 🤬

Any conspiracy theory about people going missing in National Parks is automatically silly to me. Like "Why are National Parks such a hotbed of disappearances???" because they're full of idiots. You've got thousands of people who've never pissed outdoors in their life wandering around the woods/desert/mountain with zero experience and zero gear and zero understanding that this place can kill them. You don't see as many disappearances in wild areas because people don't go to them unless they have some background knowledge. Whereas you get tour buses full of old folks and suburban families shuttling people into National Parks 365 days a year. If you took the same amount of buffoons and dropped them in the actual wilderness the disappearances would be significantly higher than at the parks. Use your brain.

I think it’s very funny that I found you when I did, we both seem to be fixated on stray kids but also like MUCH sadder music than theirs. The titles and content of your fics really ring with me. I think it’s nice, I hope you’re okay and I look forward to your work :)

I jokingly say that people will stumble upon my stuff when they need it. FIXATED? I take one peek at all the stuff I wrote and I go "oh god, I think you have a problem." At the same time, I really do like writing stuff for them. I love a wholesome found family moment and that's what the group is to me.

I come from a broken family, so when I found their silly little group and learned the lore, I became emotionally attached. A therapist would say this is a problem, but strangely enough, I've found a lot of healing in them. I see different parts of myself in each of them and for so long, I felt lost. As silly as it sounds, they've made me feel whole and worthy again. I hate the k-pop industry and its stupidity, but I love the group and what they do.

I'm glad that you like them too!! Aren't they just the coolest? They're talented, motivated, determined, and constantly evolving like some kind of Pokemon. They're also pretty to look at, so that's a plus too. Having people to look up to, especially ones that are producing so much content, is really inspiring.

I'm an absolute slut for sad music. You're the first person that's ever brought it up, but yes!! Most of my fics are titled after songs and if not songs, they're lyrics from songs. When I write most of them, the title is usually based upon whichever song I loop while writing them. All my stories are written by listening and looping to specific songs and genres.

I can't stand silence and soft sadder songs are usually what I listen to during times when I'm not doing much. Usually, I listen to music based on my mood and never stick to one genre. Most of my sad music is pulled from Phoebe Bridgers, Ethel Cain, Adrianne Lenker, Billie Eilish, Gigi Perez, and Coldplay. If you have sad song recommendations, please send them in!! With that being said, I hope you're not listening to sad songs because you're sad 😮‍💨 I used to do that all the time when I was younger, but it really is true. Listening to sad music when you feel hopeless and depressed, it makes the feelings ten times worse. I forced myself to stop listening to super sad stuff when I was in an awful head space because it made me feel much worse.

I hope you're thriving and living your best life. Life is hard, but it's a lot better with good music and things to fixate on. Stray Kids included, they're great. Sad music, when the mood is right, it's wonderful.
