it's about...longevity? stability? it's about natsume believing he'll be somewhere long enough to plant flowers and see them bloom. it's about him taking touko seriously when she asks him to tell her what flowers he wants to plant. it's about making something with his own hands, building a future with the fujiwaras. it's about him repairing a rundown home for someone else, restoring it because it's beloved to them, because it's the home of someone they love. it's about him seeing touko's joy and thinking about the youkai saying we'd like to look upon her happy face forever. it's about the box garden making him think of the fujiwaras' garden and his parents' garden, about the flowers being both the memory of flowers that bloomed there before, and the flowers that he and the youkai planted earlier that day. it's about him waking up in both worlds with sensei. it's about touko finding the petal in his hair. it's about him feeling how he falls short and the youkai saying, but you have such gentle hands...

i know everyone always talks about how 2021 was the best time to be on spnblr (which i believe but i wasn't here for it so i can't speak to that) but i think that april - june 2022 was actually such a fucking fun time on spnblr too. i mean it started with bishagate ofc and who can forget deangirl dean posting of may 2022. but there was also stuff that's been a little more forgotten (or at least we've forgotten they all happened in the span of 3 months) like dean daily and dean winchester's journal. 30k cas post....30k dean post....….rwylm was posting (and we were all bonding over how much we fucking hated noah every thursday after reading the new chapter)...spirit of the west was posting....soldier boy showing jass on the boys s3....reddit bros discovered jensen ackles....the winchesters first trailer dropped and we saw new dean content for the first time since the loathsome finale. also no one else will care about this one but....i officially changed my blog name to bloodydeanwinchester. AND i posted my first awful gif. what an insanely fun few months that was truly. it was like a burst of straight dopamine to my brain almost daily. i need it back so bad.

thinking about how in chapter four we really truly have a close trusted ally for, like… the first time.

in chapter one we have lancer, sure, but he’s understandably conflicted between us and the King. we have fun with him and he has fun with us, but when it boils down to it he’s just a kid who doesn’t want us to hurt his father and who possesses no real power to help us. in chapter two there’s noelle and berdly, but even if especially noelle wants to be on our side, there’s always the overhanging threat of Queen that makes it a rather… uneasy? allyship. it’s shaky, you don’t know how long it’ll last; it’s more like occasional solace. (speaking for the normal route here, obviously. snowgrave is Different ! ) in chapter three there’s not really much of anyone at all? most background characters support us over tenna, we make friends with side characters, ramb’s letting kris into the backrooms to do weird shit, but there’s no one really at our side.

and then in chapter 4, we have someone not only on our side, but someone actively supporting us—holding us up, being there for us when we need it most, mentoring us even. in the without question darkest chapter to date, we also have our strongest ally yet, and our in my eyes safest-feeling safe zone in the study (the green room and the areas near stores in ch 1&2 just… don’t compare).

I'm reading the Iliad in my country's translation (Brazilian Portuguese) and reading Canto 3, I realized that...Helen didn't like Paris or staying in Troy.

Like, I see a lot of people saying that she liked Paris and liked her new home, and didn't want to go back to Sparta with Menelaus. But that's totally wrong when you read the Iliad.

Helen cries when she learns that Menelaus and Paris will fight and tells King Priam that she would rather have died than gone to Troy with Paris. She cries, missing her firstborn, her home and Menelaus.

When Paris is rescued by Aphrodite and the Goddess tells Helen to go take care of her husband, she FIGHTS WITH APHRODITE SAYING THAT MENELAUS WON THE DUEL AND THAT HE WILL TAKE HER HOME, AND APHRODITE GETS PISSED BECAUSE OF WHAT SHE SAYS AND THREATENS TO KILL HELENA, AND THIS TERRIFIES THE POOR GIRL.

And what's the first thing Helena says when she finds Paris after the confrontation? That she would rather he had DIED.

Honestly? For me, Helena clearly demonstrates that she was impulsive when she agreed to go to Troy with Paris, in addition to Aphrodite's influence over her.But she never forgot the love she feels for her country, her first husband and her firstborn daughter, it's remarkable.

How can love cause so much pain? I think this concept written and addressed in the Iliad is very good, seriously.
