DER RITTER VON DER TRAURIGEN GESTALT

Dass man den Druck auf mich kurz vor der Geburt meiner Schwester 1960 enorm erhöhte und ich nach meiner Rückkehr aus dem Exil eigentlich nur noch das Schwarze Schaf, der Prügelknabe, Sündenbock und verlorene Sohn war, habe ich ja schon öfter erwähnt. Einige der Bilddokumente aus diesen dunklen Zeiten der familiären „Schwarzen Pädagogik“, über die auch einige Verwandte entsetzt waren, zeigen aber auch dass ich früh einen Widerstandsgeist aufbaute, ohne den ich wahrscheinlich elendig zu Grunde gegangen wäre.

Nach dem Motto: Wer ständig erniedrigt wird, der muss sich selbst erhöhen. Eines dieser Selbsterhöhung hat in der Gestalt des königlichen Ritters seinen traumatischen wie kindlichen Niederschlag gefunden. Ein Ritter bin ich eigentlich mein ganzes Leben geblieben. Getreu dem Freimaurermotto: „Während dem Unrecht, wo es sich zeigt, kehrt niemals der Not und dem Elend den Rücken.“ Nur den letzten Satz habe ich selten berücksichtigt. „Wachsam auf mich selbst“ zu sein.

Ich bin im Kampf für Gerechtigkeit oft ins offene Messer gelaufen. Als mutiger Redakteur, der für andere eine Lanze brach (und dafür gefeuert wurde), wie auch als Betriebsratsvorsitzender eines linkslastigen Sozialverbandes, oder Streiter für verfolgte Christen und Verfechter der Meinungsfreiheit. Diktatoren (auch demokratisch gewählte) Häscher und Söldner habe ich immer verachtet, ebenso wie Schleimer, Spitzel, Denunzianten und 5. Kolonnen demokratiefeindlicher Parallelgesellschaften.

Der Ritter, den ich kurz nach meinem 6. Geburtstag im Exil der Schwäbischen Alp malte, könnte ein Lanzelot, Parzival oder ein anderer Ritter aus der Tafelrunde des Königs Arthus sein. Die kannte ich natürlich zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht. Mein HEILIGER GRAL ist bis heute FREIHEIT, GLAUBE, MUT und MENSCHENLIEBE.

I'm really pleased with the Andorian panel - everything turned out just right, I think!

Working with the limited expressions of Andorians is definitely a challenge at times, because it feels like I'm relying on a lot of body language and antennae cues to convey what the other characters can convey through comparatively simple facial expressions. Still, I think I did alright here!

As for the Vulcan panel... somehow, Soval's assistant (originally intended to be Rekan from Deck the Halls (And Not The Vulcans)) turned into Sarek, so I guess that's happening now.

And onto the Tellarite panel! As much as I like how the Andorian panel turned out, I can't help but love Ambassador Gral in this panel just a little bit more. He was a lot of fun to draw!

And now for the super secret fourth panel, in honour of the season! (full size here)

(I choose to believe that Archer moved a decimal point two places over in a stalled trade agreement and waited to see how long it would take them all to notice. At least they're all talking again!)

Look at that face. That man has been concussed so many times. (We love him.)

Soulmate Ink au pt.4 is now on patreon! I'm having fun with this one but I also wonder a lot how does it feel, like I'm trying a bit less of comedy, the format is more square and page like...
