I have got to say for setting out to have this year be about revisiting some things I loved, revisiting FFX was a mistake

#There is a *bunch* of FFX that feels super dated and trashy by modern standards #the fact that the entire customization system is essentially locked behind rare drops in the end game is one of the worst #it is a really cool system in a game where statuses are really strong but you really can't engage with it much until you're 30 hours in #plus the story kind of dead ends at around the 40 hour mark #when the game opens up you're not really presented with compelling content so much as a bunch of necessary busy work and side dungeons #all of which are necessary because level grinding.

started planning out an actual real budget to see what sort of housing I could afford if I lived alone and it is. not great !

#i think i might still try to do it though #im purposefully not burning any bridges with my family so i can have a place to move back into if it doesnt work #but i make literally JUSTTT enough to afford it #with my retirement and life insurance i can afford to put away an extra $300 on top and have like $150 (MAYBE) left for the month #which. is less towards savings than i really want #because im trying to save for grad school a new car and a down payment #i did budget for $400 a month on groceries which doesnt include what i would get for food assistance or from food banks #which is a little bit more and helps me breathe a little #but this all hinges on my ability to find rental housing with all utilities included for 1k or under #there ARE some near me that have all or most included for less than that but obv until im actively looking to move out im not banking on any #sorry i know people dont like hearing money talk but i need to talk momey very frankly for 3-5 hours #after which i will promptly and unexpectedly burst into tears and thats how you know the conversation is over #im also an idiot dumbass and didnt really pay attention to how much i was spending on gas when i drove from the bigger city near me #(aka the place i will probably end up living)#i dont want to lower my savings though :( i like to save :( number go up #and also the idea that it could take me longer than 10 years to save up for a down payment fills me with teeth grinding rage #i want to live alone so badly i want to make it work #i have to remind myself that im rounding expenses up and paychecks down on purpose #but i also. dont know what the next step is?? i have it all saved already lmfao #i cant move out until august at the absolute earliest but like. because i live at home do i just. sit and wait? until i find a good place?#things happening in rapid succession scare me and it seems like the turn around for apartment touring -> moving in is very fast #i was 16 when i last moved idk how to do that!#but like. do they just. move the stuff in #yes this is exactly how moving works i know #i think really what i need to do is tell my parents in august that im going to move out #because if they're ready to move furniture then maybe the brain can take over and make decisions and sign contracts quickly #before the loser has time to even start getting freaky about things #any ghosts looking to be a second source of income

no. just… no.

hot take: this doesn’t work for people with adhd (in my experience/from what i’ve heard from other people with adhd in my life). i recommend doing the easy/moderately difficult stuff first, that way you can convince yourself that it’s all going to be this easy and undemanding. then hyper-focus will kick in because your brain is like, “yeah, we can do this, we’ve got this.” then, before you know it, you’ve completed both the easy tasks and the hard tasks while hyperfocusing.

like, on a serious note, it’s always been easier for me to convince myself to get the most difficult tasks done when i’m already working/in the working frame of mind, not when i’m laying in bed or sitting on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through stuff on my phone, and struggling to start at all.

if the choice comes down to you not starting at all or starting with the easiest task first (which, for me, it often does), always, always pick starting with the easiest task first. sometimes you need a small victory, a little bit of an accomplishment, to give you the courage to take on bigger challenges.

#adhd #audhd #in my experience… ‘study tips’ or ‘time management tips’ from neurotypical people will almost never work for us #they don’t conceptualize time the same way we do #they don’t look at challenges the same way we do #it’s okay to take bits and pieces of their advice #ya know… whatever parts of it work for you #but don’t think that you have to use all the strategies and programs that they do to be successful #because you don’t #all that fake business soft skills/mental health guru/grind mindset stuff is total bullshit #pick strategies that speak to/work for you #it’s okay to fail at things and to have to try again #it’s okay to make mistakes and not get shit done sometimes #sometimes you need a fucking break #it’s okay to start with the easy stuff first and just ease your way into being productive #it’s okay to hyperfocus and work for hours on end sometimes #if it’s hard for you to take breaks when you’re studying and you feel like you learn better if you stay in that hyperfocused zone #than just go until the hyperfocus wears off #then take a break… eat… nourish your body… take care of yourself… and come back later #maybe later is later on that day #maybe later is tomorrow #either way is completely fine #do what works best for you #work with your neurodivergent brain… no against it #pol’s diary <3

I think if I played harvestella literally any other time besides this week I would have hated it, but this week I just so happen to be specifically craving a mid 2000s jrpg (which it isnt but it might as well be in all the ways that matter) and the slight farm sim elements are the only thing containing my attention long enough to satisfy that desire

#i just spent 4 hours grinding the first dungeon and leaving just before hitting the boss just so i could buy seeds #well see what level i can reach off level 5 monsters #harvestella #i was about to pull my ps2 out of storage just to play star ocean but this will do #i am not built for jrpgs or really rpgs in general but there is a specific part of my brain they scratch #so usually i just end up playing them for 2 hours before abandoning them

so I've been working nonstop on this... orbiter and shit, it's slowly getting pretty decent I think.

this is my "kitchen" that I've moved multiple times and it's still not finished. it looks good but idk if I should actually keep it...

also!!!! My goal isn't to make the orbiter NOT look like an orbiter, just a prettier one. I was greatly inspired by Kiocifer on YouTube, his ship is probably the prettiest I've ever seen and was built on mostly free stuff
