Hasselblad presenta la H6D-400C, 400MP di pura goduria

Non parliamo spessissimo di Hasselblad perché i suoi prodotti sono fuori dall'interesse fotografico comune, sia per specifiche caratteristiche che costi. Però la nuova H6D-400C è davvero interessante da conoscere anche perché è la prima macchina fotografica al mondo a scattare foto da ben 400MP.

Il sensore di questo "mostro" è un medio formato (53,4 x 40mm) da 100MP che equipaggia anche altre macchine del marchio (come la H5D-200C) e che dispone di una gamma dinamica di 15 STOP e sensibilità ISO da 64 a 12800. Per scattare all'impressionante risoluzione di 400MP, Hasselblad utilizza la tecnica del Pixel shifting, spostando il sensore di 1 pixel nelle 4 direzioni ed effettuando altri 2 scatti spostandolo di un ulteriore mezzo pixel, come mostrato in queste gif realizzata da PetaPixel.

Ma solo il sensore non è sufficiente per creare delle immagini così risolute, infatti la H6D-400C ha bisogno di essere collegata al computer per eseguire gli scatti e il file risultante ha una risoluzione di 23200 × 17400 inscatolato in un TIFF a 16bit che pesa ben 2.4GB.

Per quanto riguarda le ulteriori specifiche abbiamo il doppio slot di memoria (CFast 2.0 e SD), Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 di tipo C, porta HDMI, ingresso ed uscita audio, un display da 3" con 920K pixel di risoluzione e l'interfaccia "in stile smartphone" che è ormai tipica del brand. La H6D-400C può inoltre registrare video in HD e 4K e sarà in vendita da Marzo a $47.995. Solo corpo, ovviamente.

Elsa as a Photographer

It seems I have a new AU to work on in the Frozen fandom, this one centred around Elsa secretly being a world famous journalistic photographer and hiding in the Pacific Northwest so she can get some peace and quiet. I’ve yet to come up with a name for this AU. And I’d like to thank @the-magic-one-is-you for encouraging this development.

So now I thought I’d start by listing off Elsa’s cameras from this AU. Because like most professional photographers, she couldn’t stop at one. And the reasoning behind them allows for some good headcanon material. So here we go:

1. Canon T3i - This was her first DSLR. She got this one well before she even knew she’d be making her living as a photographer. She started out not knowing anything about the craft, but through fiddling around and classes she eventually fell in love. This camera is pretty old, and with it being only a crop-sensor, she doesn’t use it anywhere near as much anymore. But she doesn’t have the heart to part with it, and still brings it along on vacation because it’s relatively light compared to the others. And while Anna hounds her for bringing along work when she’s supposed to relax, Elsa can justify it by saying this one isn’t her “work” camera.

2. Canon 5D Mark III - This is her work camera. This one has been with her from the very start of her professional career. She’s taken most of her award winners with it. It’s an absolute workhorse of a camera, and has gone with her everywhere. It’s been to the Arctic, the Antarctic, the Sahara, even the Great Barrier Reef. She’s shot mountains, valleys, and all kinds of weather with it. She’s used it to take macro photos of the smallest snowflakes and the grandest panoramas from mountain tops. She has a custom strap for it because it’s far too personal to her to have the generic brand strap. She wouldn’t trade it for the world, even with the release of the newer Mark IV.

3. Hasselblad H6D-400c - This is the big one. The one Kristoff is terrified of holding. This bad boy is easily the second-most expensive thing she owns, including her car. The only thing pricier is her house. She got this one thanks to winning an award with a substantial amount of prize money. And she’s been using it to provide incredibly high-definition photos of landscapes and the sky on her website. (You know those photos where you can just zoom in and it’s like a Where’s Waldo book with the amount of information captured? That’s what she does.) She’s thinking of doing an art installation at the local city gallery by blowing up the images taken with the camera to a massive scale, to the point where it should feel like entering the forest once you step into the gallery space.

4. Leica M3 35mm - She found this one as a fluke. She happened upon it in an antique store in surprisingly good condition and decided to try it. She had to teach herself how to use film, and how to develop it. It was a process and a half to make her own darkroom and to keep Olaf from trying to get in while she was working. But she’s gradually getting better at it. She mostly uses this one for experiments. She’ll often be seen around town taking street photos of interesting buildings or landmarks. It’s because she’s seen around town most often with this camera most people in town think she’s just some flannel-wearing hipster who calls themselves a “photographer” because they own a film camera. Because she likes her peace and quiet, Elsa keeps it that way.
