3. Animators X Voice actress

I love thinking that the animators lowkey pushed the Killugon ship — because guess what? We can’t come at them, and we can’t just brush it off as fan delusion.

Why? Simply because they actually worked on the anime and the official merch. Whether it's character design, backgrounds, storyboarding, or voice acting — everyone had some level of contact (direct or indirect) with Yoshihiro Togashi himself.

Which brings us to the next question: What exactly did the animators do in the show that supports this?

Well first off, we need to talk about the fact that there are two full anime adaptations of HxH. The first one aired in 1999 and wrapped up after the Greed Island arc in 2004.

What’s really interesting about the ‘99 version is that the team took a lot of creative liberties with the script… honestly, they kinda went wild with it — with Togashi’s full blessing. He was so involved he even voiced a character himself at one point!

And they really started off strong: In the opening alone, there’s a f rainbow shining across the faces of the four main characters — Gon, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika.

Ok so...years ago back when I read Doctor Who fic, I read this one with Nine and Rose

I've often thought about it over the years, and thought I should reread it, just...y'know 'cause I remember enjoying it at the time

Of all the ones I read, I don't know why that's one that just...really stuck with me all these years later. I just remember them walking back, and him not being able to look back at her.

I recently commented on a FB post in one of the CTM groups. The post was advertising an unofficial podcast for the show about three “super fans” doing a rewatch.I was excited and began listening this weekend.

I could not make it 10 minutes. I had to turn it off. In my comment, I gave an honest and respectful review. Guess what! It was deleted and I was tagged for breaking the rules of the group.

I have since messaged an admin expressing how wrong this was. No different than disagreeing with someone about an episode or character.

What did I comment? I wish I had copied it but here’s about what I wrote: (I was relying to someone asking if it was a podcast)

“Yes, it’s a podcast. I have to be honest, I was disappointed. I listened this weekend and couldn’t make it 10 minutes. I don’t want to be disrespectful to the women who do this, but they didn’t know the names of characters and their commentary seemed very insensitive for the issues for the time period. After all, it is based on real life events. I appreciate them putting this together, but I didn’t like it”

That’s not exactly what I wrote. I feel that it was even more respectful than that. Either way, it was honest.

I was going to give a break down but no. Here’s a rant instead:

Don’t say you’re a “super fan”! That’s misleading. You don’t even know characters or actors names! Don’t make fun of how difficult the times were. These were real people. They couldn’t just replace their mattress after a birth. (Mind you this is the first episode they are reviewing. 1957 so it was very bad situations compared to how things have become)

And leave Sister Monica Joan alone!! She’s not a selfish bitch! WTH?!

Do your research! Take time to understand the true meaning of this show. I believe a podcast like that should have much more meaning than poking fun. I guess my brain in wired a different way when it comes to critiquing movies and television since I was studied film.

I have watched every episode multiple times. I just did a second watch of this last season. I’ve watched as many docs as I can, plus been a part of this community for a while. I feel everything I have come to understand either they didn’t try or if just went over their heads.

I have so much respect for Heidi and all of the research they all do for this show.

I think the show deserves a podcast that brings something like that to light in each episode. Information about the times and links to the books for the earlier seasons. General knowledge at least about the people you speak of.

Okay nvm, im the one who asked about price of strength. This was my take on that part of the game and pretty much most of it is backed up by the devs and ultis, so yeah, Cloud is freaked by the weird stalker whose house he just escaped from. Then he sees her getting upset and because he's not a monster he agrees she can go with. It's basically big brother/little sister although she thinks she's the big sister even though she clearly isn't.

And yeah, they still insist it's "Cloud's resolution" even though the ultis and devs and even mocap actors have all said it's not. They're the ones embarrassing themselves, so just ignore them. The game won't be kind and they'll hopefully leave for good

This year has been a mess, but I'm pretty well and in great spirits! I got sick a lot, had lots of money issues, lots of family fights, many problems. But I also:

+ Sold my debut graphic novel with Chronicle books TT-TT I guess this is the HUGE thing of 2022. Began pitching it in 2020! (or 2019? can't remember).

+ Got accepted at the CCC, and declined. (It's my country's TOP cinema school, very hard to enter, just tried to see wth was the "top secret, 6 steps entry exams test" so I thought I wouldn't get in. I got in, had to decline orz).

+ Found peace with myself. I guess this is a huge one? Of course I still doubt myself and have issues but now I... handle them better. Wow. This, after much suffering. It feels surreal.

+ Played like +200 hours of Elden Ring and Bloodborne. Great stuff.

+ Took a plane for the 3rd time in my life, after 10 years from the last. I love planes, never had $$$ to travel, this was big for me!

Well, I'm tired, haha. And a bit anxious because I have SO, SO many things to do but honestly I just want to rest for a couple of days TT-TT

Meanwhile, Whumpee was trying (gracelessly) to haul what looked to be a shit-ton of flour to their apartment.

Friend didn’t know who looked more pitiful, the bag of abused flour or Whumpee, who had adopted the mannerisms of a drunk camel. They constantly shifted the weight of the bag, kneeing it up to keep their back from bending awkwardly.

Whumper and Friend continued to observe the scene unfolding before them.

“What the hell are they trying to do?” Friend mumbled aloud. “They look stu—.”

Whumper scoffed and shifted from his position, about to defend his choice in kidnapee, when Whumpee‘s bag of flour busted, causing them to falter right before their hand grasped the doorknob.

An explosion of pure white enveloped them, thinly coating the front of their shirt. The substance clung to their face as a form of humiliating collateral damage.

Whumpee was silent as they wiped away the powdery ingredient from their face.

“Ah, fiddlesticks.” they sighed.

“Holy. Shit. Fiddlesticks? Who the hell says ‘fiddlesticks’ anymore?! What the—”

Ignoring his company’s baffled rambling, Whumper decided they couldn’t resist this golden opportunity to offer the poor soul a helping hand. Standing up, Whumper began to stroll over to his sweet, powdery soon-to-be plaything.

I want to say maybe When the Sun Won't Let You Sleep just because there's no epilogue. I always meant to write one, but I commissioned some art that never happened that was supposed to go with the epilogue. So it just never got written lol.

I'm going to say Until because I think it's the only fic I've written that has a romantic wedding as part of it lol.

I guess the only true crossover I have is my very first fic, Just Hear This and Then I'll Go. And that one is a modern day take on Pride and Prejudice. Oh wait, I also wrote a short fic that was a modern version of a short story by L.M. Montgomery, You & Me.

I do. And uhhh, different kinds? lol. To be honest, I write whatever feels right in the moment. I never plan the smut out ahead of time.

I do! I love comments and I always leave comments when I read. I really love that communication between writer and reader that can happen in the comments.

I've been pretty lucky with this. I did have one once say something about how the actual members of 1D wouldn't like my fic. a;lsdjfsa I then pointed out that FAN fiction is for FANS. Right there in the name lol.

Unfortunately, many times.

I have! I generally allow translations as long as I'm credited and given a link to the translation.

I haven't. I don't know that I could really do that. I'm always amazed by people who do this! I think if I ever did it would be with my long time beta/best friend @taggiecb.

Oof. I have lots of ships that I love, but obviously based on my writing and reading, Louis/Harry is my favorite.

I actually have a published wip that I abandoned. sigh. It's sort of a Secret Garden-ish inspired fic, but I just never really figured out where it was going. I'd like to someday write a bucket list au that I've literally been thinking about for years. I don't know why it just never gets written.

Probably dialogue? Or maybe writing humor? People tend to enjoy my brand of humor if my most popular fics are anything to go by. lol.

Better descriptive writing is currently what I'm working on. I find that I often write in a visual way, but I tend not to include other descriptors.

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I personally wouldn't because I don't speak any other language well enough. I once had a little Italian in a fic, and I had an Italian friend write me those sentences.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

My first fic that I published was for One Direction.

Probably If I Loved You Less because it's my two favorite things put together...Regency romance and fan fiction. And I filled that fic with a whole lot of Regency romance tropes haha. I also really like how a/b/o fits into that world.

tho i feel like anything from magnificently cursed bc i say so: But it was more than just the horror that connected them. In the vibrancy of Olympus, it felt like they were creating the beautiful moments, too. They’d become a luster that outshined the rust in their thread of life.

12. how did you grow as a writer this year:

dude i’ve improved so much it’s crazy. in 2020 when quarantine started and i also started writing fic it was like. my first time in a looong time of writing something in english and i had to search up so many words and shit but now…..it all comes like the tears of jesus istg lmaooo. i also feel like this year i really honed in my writing style, because in 2020 it was all over the place i’m sure, and now i can truly say that i have a specific way of writing (correct me if i’m wrong bc maybe it’s just me since m i’m a clown)

13. how do you hope to grow next year:

i’m copying annie bc i need to finish all my wips so i never write fic again i am BEGGING

16. any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

read lots of books lol i swear every time i do writing is so much easier bc im reminded of how words are supposed to um. work. and never write something you find slightly boring. just create the weirdest plot line or whatever, as long as it’s interesting to YOU and it’s fun to write for YOU and no one else.

17. any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) this year:

finishing any of my (existent) chapter fics bc i need them to stop haunting me in my sleep😭

English fics will always have more engagement than non-English fics, so it's kind of a given to see most of my English fics on this list especially since I wrote so little of them in the first place. Well, this means I just have to write more of 'em! (I wanna get back into writing Indonesian too, though, because I don't want to lose my Indonesian writing ability)

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

OH YES ABSOLUTELY. I always LOVE hearing feedback whether it's positive or constructive criticism (I don't need negative ones tho coz who tf does?). And me responding to comments is just a way for me to show how much I love and appreciate people taking their time to share their thoughts. It takes time and energy to do that too, y'know! (and I just like to interact with people anyway)

Besides, I've always felt giddy when I receive replies from authors of fics I'm reading, so maybe somewhere in the world, someone is happy just by me responding to their comment :)

Hmmm an exception would be if someone leaves replies in every chapter of a finished fic (I tend to just reply to some or the last one) or if I genuinely can't think of a response AT ALL lmaoo.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I'm NOT someone who enjoys a bad ending, so I've never even thought of a story with a bad/angsty ending. BUUUUT, Love Language is more of an analysis than a story and since it follows the canon storyline of Erwin/Levi... well, you know what happened to them in canon *sigh*.

Edit: on second thought, a runner up would be Letters from the Holy Roman Empire with an open ending because his heartfelt letters never made it to the recipient (Italy).

7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

UHHHH I guess Faith? Coz it ends with an assurance of love and a kiss. It's funny coz I thought I would have more happy ending fics, but when I check back, most of them are just open endings :P guess I don't like bad endings but I don't necessarily like to write clear happy endings either haha.

8. Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?

Nope. I wish I have the inspiration and am able to, though!

9. Have you received hate on a fic?

HAHAHA I guess so? The person left a review on Faith in ff.net saying "He's not shikamaru bitch loljk wth idc" kejhrkwjre. I'm not too upset by it now since I was only 14 when I wrote that fics and I know it's just basically shit? Lol. But I did give a warning in the fic from the start that it's "maybe OOC" so... *shrugs*

10. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yeah. So far straight and mlm (men loving men, not multi-level marketing lol) smuts. I came out as bi 2 years ago, though, and have been wanting to write wlw (women loving women) smut. Oh and threesome/foursome too. But I'll take my time.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope. My fics aren't that great enough to be stolen (yet) haha.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not yet but that'd be so cool, though!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

YES! Only once, though, when I was 13 with my high school friends who all love Naruto lol. Basically, I spearheaded the project and asked them what they wanna be put in it. Well... I guess it was me writing the fic and them giving ideas haha. I would LOVE to co-write again but I struggle to understand the technicalities of it. And it needs to be with people who're not scared of letting me know what they want and hearing what I want, then us finding a way to bridge that.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I change my obsession often, but ig it's Eruri (Attack on Titan) and Scorbus (Harry Potter) so far because they're the only ships who I've come back to after obsessing over something else. I think NaruSasu (Naruto) and Gerita (Hetalia) will be too because I feel like I'll go back to either of them once my obsession with Eruri dies down again.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

Time because it's the first-ever Tom/Hermione Indonesian fic ever to be published in both fanfiction.net and AO3 (no one else have written that pairing in Indonesian iirc). But it's been 7 years since then and I'm too lazy to continue.

16. What are your writing strengths?

This can be a weakness too but: since I don't think my English language ability is that high and that I tend to use simple words, I know my fics are accessible and easy to digest by the masses.

My Indonesian writing is much more complex and fluid, though. I wonder if I should try just writing in Indonesian and translating it to English next time.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My English vocabulary is limited. I'm also bad with diction and sometimes characterization (because I tend to be very biased).

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

If they're short dialogues, I might write them as is. But if it's a long conversation, I'd translate it or put a translation directly. I've read a fic with some German in there and the characters were speaking it quite a lot and it was a hassle to go back and forth between the dialogues and the translation at the top/bottom.

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Naruto, shortly after my best friend in high school introduced a bunch of us to the world of fanfiction lol. It was a crack pair between Sakura and Sasuke or Gaara, I think. I don't remember much because I hated all my writings at some point (probs when I was 14/15) and deleted everything. I wish I didn't do that because I've lost the backup file now and couldn't reminiscence anything.

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?

Jam Tangan Multi Fungsi, hands down. Why? Because 1) it's a fic of a local novel and HOW COOL IS THAT??? I think we need to make more fan-content for local stories/movies/etc because we obviously don't have enough of it! And we need to appreciate the local creative industry too!; 2) the writing IMO is SO immaculate. I was still so impressed coz how tf can a 15-year-old write that well? The vocab, diction, grammar, metaphors, fluid story-telling, nuance. It literally doesn't read like what a 15-year-old would write; 3) IMO the premise is so clever too. Using a tapper and a tracker (which is a canon gift from one of the characters to the other) as a phone sex device??? Bitch I know I wrote that when I was still a minor but idc, that's still hot haha.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to find my style when it comes to writing in English, so I don't have any favorite yet.

Been working on shit for MONTHS, man. If I remember correctly the dating sim was first conceived on September 3rd after I was joking around on discord with my friends about a headcanon request I got about flirting. And then someone was like “haha wouldn’t it be funny if we made a botw dating sim” and so yeah.

Honestly I’ve been super busy with my other Project [REDACTEDS] that my contributions so far don’t even stack up to a sliver of what everyone else has done. I’m just the guy who makes a funky little piano tune, and a silly little google doc and outline plan. I’ve betaed like two storylines and wrote out broad concepts. Meanwhile @muffinbuttonfan and @matchamabs have KILLED it so far with the amazing art, AKA all of the sprite work and backgrounds and locations. @revalisimp has made some professional music shit and ALSO has someone managed to transcribe my shit into something coherent. @rays-oflight @blog-of-the-wildd and literally everyone has been writing so much the routes are already really fleshed out and ON TOP OF THAT @junietuesday and @miraculous-stardust also fucking program shit like WHAT it’s honestly a crime that I’m getting the credit for announcing this you guys should totally sends asks and stuff to the dating sim blog @botwsimpsandsuch and give the rest of the team some love <3

the outsiders was introduced to me in middle school in 8th grade when i lived in canada! i remember the day i walked into english class and my teacher said we'd be reading a new book. it changed my life lmaoooo! i really enjoyed the book and movie, johnny and dally have always been the characters i connected to the most, though dally's death is one that i struggle to read through without crying shsudhdhd i did end up passing my english class that year bc i wrote a whole ass extra chapter and then some (basically a fanfic) about sodapop meeting a new girl called roxanne, there was drama, romance, angst- i got 100% bc i was the only one who didn't do a dumb ass board game or whatever. i remember the whole class cheered for my introverted ass like ew!
