do you ever just think about suguru's reaction to someone else flirting with you. because it's something I always go back to.

it's a sitatuton that instantly pisses him off, but he never reacts. his detachment starts with a vacant expression in his eyes and a sweet, bone-chilling smile that spreads across his face. he won't break eye contact with the person bold enough to make their attempt, or even try to stop them.

he eggs them on. like it's a sick, twisted game that strokes his ego.

yes, isn't she beautiful? he'll acknowledge, an eeriness masking his polite words. it's her eyes that get me, or she was made for this dress, he'll follow up as he displays you with bitter pride.

he delicately brushes his fingers up and down your waist. a come hither motion tempting the other to try and touch you as well.

she's all mine, his gestures speak and it's remarkable how the other person instantly shrivels in their boots. how their voice cracks with uncertainty, or how a glow of sweat mists all over their flushed face.

it’s always so crazy to me how much weight is put on John and Paul’s romantic relationships and how they affect the Beatles, not Ringo or George’s.

I feel like it’s always “John fell in love with Yoko”, “Paul fell in love with Linda” and that’s why the band fell apart. Which - aside from being absolutely crazy conclusions that lack the nuance of, y’know, acknowledging Ringo and George (and also the whole host of other problems the band had) - is so fascinating to me because what do you mean it all hinged on John and Paul being together? What do you mean the band was absolutely peachy when Ringo or George were in love but as soon as something serious drives a wedge between John and Paul it’s all over?

There’s something in stating they found other people so they couldn’t be together that implies such a toxic codependency but also an insane jealousy of anything that takes the other’s attention away. Point is I think their devotion to each other made the breakup worse.

so far what i really like about the ex morning is the way they talk about being exes

like idek i can't quite articulate what it is yet but i think a lot of it has to with the fact that in most bls

1) the time a couple is actually in a relationship is less than half of the episodes and

2) having ex partners is often not even discussed or if it is, it's with notes of jealousy or just a short off-hand mention to state the sexuality of a character

Hi, anon!

My lack of proclivity toward jealousy is being exposed with these asks. 😂 I've always found (romantic) jealousy to be a bit odd. I can never relate to it, and when I try to break it down with critical thinking, I always come to the conclusion that it's an emotion borne of a conception of possession (over a person's body or attention or love or etc), which has never made me particularly comfortable. I'm not saying this is necessarily the case for anyone, I just can't imagine experiencing jealousy myself without the other criteria being true, and it never will be. I understand that people feel it, of course, and I can understand other reasons why a person might feel it, but it's not en emotion that I've ever been able to personally feel myself.

And this bleeds through to my writing a lot because my characters are rarely ever the jealous sort. (Maybe it's because I'm poly... or maybe I'm poly because I don't feel jealousy. Could not tell ya.)

So having said all that, I'm really not sure what each of the ROs would do if a stranger started flirting with MC. I can tell you this: the characters that are most likely to feel jealousy in this scenario are Yulia and A2. (Path might get jealous over MC, but only in a deep romantic stage.) In the crushing stage? I can't imagine they would do much of anything about it besides perhaps putting their best foot forward when they interact with MC. It's MC's choice who they wish to accept or reject flirtation from, and it's not their business to get in the way of that. All they can do is try to make themselves seem like good options.

Now, if a stranger was flirting with MC and it was clearly unwanted, that might be a different matter...
