So.. I decided to try my hand at making a hanfu inspired top. Not going for accuracy, just inspired by the historical/fantasy drama shows I’ve been watching lately. I’m in love with Word of Honor and League Of Noblemen. Those shows (and Untamed, Grandmaster etc,) made me curious about the time periods/styles. Yes some are more fantasy but learning about the dress and culture and then about how Hanfu is having a modern revival after being suppressed by the Qing dynasty is fascinating. Plus, how can anyone resist giant sleeves?

(Must admit the sleeve ‘corner’ is my favourite bit so far)

Did I mention this is my first ever sewing project outside of Junior School? 🤣 The reason I felt able to even attempt this is due to the style. Simple straight collar and the shoulder seams are halfway down the upper arm. Also no weird seam shapes, darts or gathering fabric into tight cuffs. Very beginner friendly.

Took a month to complete, started it on January 15th, finished it on February 15th!

Since I no longer wish to support Meta with my presence on Instagram due to Meta allying with Donald Trump, I am hoping to find a community where I can share my knitting here on Tumblr. I used to be on Tumblr as a teenager 15 years ago, but I made a new username now to start over fresh.

The legwarmers in the picture are my proudest knitting achievement. They are my own design, made in two-color brioche and double knitting. I am working on the pattern, and wish to organize a test knitting hopefully this spring. But I need to finish the pattern first. And I am a perfectionist.

I am looking forward to meeting new people to discuss knitting here on Tumblr.

Another labor of love💙 finished this last week and I love it. It took me longer than I wanted because I’ve been busy but I love the results.

I still gotta add the embroidery but I may save that for next November/December��☃️❄️

Kyrgyzstan is my homeland and this is a Kyrgyz pattern I really liked, so I turned it into a cross-stitch chart to stitch it myself.

Right at the finish line, I suddenly ran out of my entire skein of floss 😅 Had to run to my mom for help, she has a much bigger collection of floss than I do. The color’s not exactly the same, but now this piece has its own little story. A sweet reminder that perfection isn’t everything 😊
