#hate the names and the dynamic 🙃

It is so very early in the 10-episode run of Thailand's adaptation of Addicted Heroin to give a flat statement on how the story is and will be presented. But so far, it's... cute. Like a lot of Thai productions are. (Please take away the 1980s cartoon soundboard from all the editors forever, especially for the Serious Plot Dramas.)

One of the main leads is 17 years old as of release. So, figure 15-16 while filming in a country where 20 is the age of majority. So everything gets (or should get) an immediate slap down for rating at the cost of the meat of the story. I'd rather have a 25 year old play 16 than either sanitize the material or have an actual teenager simulate sex on screen.

Look, I am all for Freedom of Plot and Fantasy and Exploration in fiction. I'm also a person who doesn't pretend that kids at 12 and 13 years old don't have skewed brand new sexual feelings that are being explored, usually through word-of-mouth rumors through other kids or porn, and experience so, so much shame about being curious about the absolutely very basic human drive to fuck.

Dicks get hard, pussies get wet. It's a natural thing. It's biology. But it's scary for the first time and every moment you're told it's Wrong, especially if you're queer. It should be explained and explored or it will combust into something poisionus, which is the whole point of Addicted. Two scarred and damaged teenagers obsessed over each other to the point of kidnapping because anything less doesn't feel like it's enough.

The 15 episodes of the Chinese version before it got the chop was dirty and messy from the plot beats to the filming. The Chinese version is full of "dirty" shots referring to the lingering lines and shadows of Bai Lou Yin or Gu Hai in the corners of each other's closeups, and also the grit that came from 2015/16 cameras.

Bai Lou Yin washes the blood off Gu Hai's shirt because Gu Hai nearly beat someone unconscious. You see the blood exploding on him. It's a visual metaphor. He didn't want these feelings, but they're present and vicious. Bai Luo Yin scrubbing them out is the start of a reluctant relationship between him and Gu Hai and also him and Auntie.

Hero has a mediocre punch and Pop mentions the invisible blood stains on his shirt and Auntie still comes to the rescue, but Hero's shirt was clean already. Everything is filmed so clean. The shots both inside and out of the convenience store (which will undoubtedly be a place of time filler instead of actual dirty, ugly plot, because proximity was never the problem and focusing on Pop's side job has nothing to do with him at all) are so, so bright and clean.

Addicted Heroin is ugly on purpose. This isn't supposed to be a pretty story. It's supposed to hurt. "Hai-Lou-Yin"/Heroin" was a major part of them. It's why "Heroin" is part of the title. They are the drug. They are the problem.

And now, "Hero" and.... "Pop". There's the slim chance that "Poppy" may get a nod to opium- Heroin- but I'm already unsure if this is willing to even bring up the idea of an actual unhealthy addiction. Which is the whole point!

Also. The fight at the beginning is a fake out puppy boyfriend being happy his boyfriend/fiance is home. There will be no conflict or the conflict will be shoehorned in at the last moment.

Hi! For the ask game I was wondering about #2 - "Another enemies to lovers who saw that coming" It made me laugh, so I'd love to know more! 👀

Alternatively titled "dear god why am I so predictable", "I'm allergic to healthy relationship dynamics" and "here we go again" 🥲 but ooh, ooh! This one I'm excited to eventually probably hopefully come back to because it started with a compulsion to write more hate banging and then, BOOM, plot for days. Kinda rude, but kinda okay with it. Anywho!

The plot (cause all I've got written are the gettin' down and nasty bits right now 🙃) is a soulmate/enemies to lovers/Tim gets adopted by Ra's fusion. Basically, Tim gets snatched by Ra's as a kid and raised with the League of Assassins which he hates but Ra's puts a magic spell on Tim that bonds Tim's soul to him like a fake soulmate bond so Tim's unable to leave.

Ra's sends him on a mission to fuck with the Bats where he meets Jason. Cue rocky beginnings for them. Back and forth, cat and mouse stuff for a while. They start to get along a little bit but there's still moments of unease. Then during a fight, they end up touching skin to skin and Tim feels when the fake soulbond is written over with a true soulmate bond. He ends up losing that fight.

So, finally mostly free, he's about to dip out when Ra's moves against Gotham and the Bats end up getting overwhelmed. Tim is just like seriously? So he has to step in and fight off Ra's and the League. Ra's is like wtf dude? So mid fight he grabs Tim and makes the soulbond show by doing a mini spell in blood. Ra's gets pissed because it's not his name embedded in the bond anymore. Ra's spills the beans that it's Jason while Jason is right there. Sooooo much awkward staring happens.

Then the rest is a secret~~

I guess you think I don't really filter them out, but you're wrong. Believe me, no matter how much I ban everything related to this ship, it comes up in every way. For example eruri shipper Levixreader writers. Even in the Hcs/fanfic's they write, they are in every way squeezing their own ship under the guise of "this is not ship discourse" and they write the dynamics of that ship under the name of 'levixreader' in order to show that their ship is canon. And you naively Rb'd them and think that Levi's character is really like that. He's a perpetually angry man, he's a cruel selfish man who hates the weak and who hates the weak and who immediately abandons you because he's weak, who puts his feelings for erbin ahead of his duties 🥺 who puts humanity through hell for erbin. but someone who is a dog and a softy for him and someone who threw S/o out of the window for him. Yes he loves S/o but he would even sacrifice S/o for the landlord whose dog he is 😔 But again keep saying "great Levi fic post 😭".

And that's what I'm talking about when I say don't let them manipulate you, because even one of your recent articles is similar to their writing style. I wouldn't be surprised if you soon write Levi as an ass upturned, bed whining, super fanon twink whiny lowlife sub. One of your Rb's in particular is a super delulu shipper levixreader writer, and they so much portray Levi as Erwin's lapdog, order dog, loyal dog, someone who never questions whatever action he takes, never wavers in his loyalty, that Cosmic finally had to write them a misleading reply that Levi is not like that Lmaoo. And they are egotistical and self-righteous enough to say "I know better than you" when they see criticism that contradicts their fanon thinking. Man its 2024 and fucking ackerbond has been debunked years ago and even Isayama's dusty old interviews deny it. Yeah, no matter how much I filter eruri, I see exactly that in both Levi tags and Levixreader tags 🙃 and now whenever I want to read fic or browse Levi posts, I have to look at them with hesitation and fear. I don't understand if I should filter Levi directly?

I'm so tired that I would love for Isayama to drop a bombshell that will disprove both the selfshippers and shippers and all their rhetoric, all their Hc's, and leave us all in a big disappointment. For example to give him a really random female partner. Or I would like him to write a characterization where he really doesn't care about everyone and throws them into the fire, where he thinks about himself and his life instead of thinking about them, where he focuses on himself, where he is truly selfish. Then we wouldn't have to see discourses, dramas and fights like "Levi cared about X the most" "He did this and that for X" "Levi doesn't have a canon ship, but if he did it would be X"

The manga is very emotional :D actually at least it was for me when I first read it, i cried and laughed and when I say cried i mean literally placed it down and made a 10 minute pause to cry :D From what I remember, it was mostly bcuz of Shadow and his bestie (no im not naming him) and speaking of them, i sometimes feel like they overshadowed other nice duos and combos that didn't appear much in the manga but would be very silly

And im talking about Blue & Shadow and Blue & him :)

These two duos recently are corrupting my brain cells :) Also funny how Blue is in both lol XD He makes everything funnier i gotta admit 😌💙

Shadow & Blue are mostly corrupting me bcuz i have their designs for TSoTT so they always accompany me, especially during school hours since I have no one else. 90% of my incorrect quotes are smth they said at school XD When I say accompany me i mean that im talking to myself like a madman pretending that im talking to two 18 year old dudes XDD 💙🖤 i don't have anyone at school to talk to, okay? Barely anyone even knows my name 😒 Whenever I do talk to them i feel like im more and more becoming crazy bcuz hey, talking to myself 24 a day... I blame my whole AU for that.... Anyways like since for now I only have the two of them visualized, they cheer me up and kill boredom during school hours :) Sometimes even end up in a fight with each other which can be a real pain during an exam 🤦‍♀️ Also speaking of exams, they can't really help :/ Shadow knows no shit about math and Blue kinda knows? Though he admits that even Link when he was my age wasn't the best at math (sounds weird to me but kinda makes sense idk) Blue does help at PE though :D He helps with baseball! We won a game the other day :D And generally he helps with PE :) Now when i think about it I have no idea how did Shadow stay with me for like a few months now, but what i do know is that he's really good at killing boredom :) Once I had like around 50 minutes free and ofc i was doodling but Shadow was also making me laugh with nonsense he was telling me (some random shit about ppl he saw at my school or impressions of other Links) Shadow and Blue do get along :)....kinda, ngl. They're not really a perfect duo to cope with each other. Did I mention that they ended up in a fight? Oh yeah not once. But like they don't really hate each other, i mean they'd die for the other, but like they're just not the best to be accompanied. When they want, they're great! When I think about their dynamic in the AU, tbh I see them as a duo that would annoy each other all the time but would be amazing at working together in a fight. Speaking of the AU they don't interact much bcuz of the messed up plot, but if they do, which ill probably place them to, they wouldn't get along at first but later would start to understand each other and would be unstoppable. Shadow's bestie is actually the one who gets them along :) which is a long story....

All in all, Blue & Shadow are recently becoming one of my comfort duos 💙🖤

Tbh imo both characters are suffering by this fandom, its like there is no between. Especially when it comes to atari. Shippers dont even see her as a character and acting like she can fix shin's all pain (even some of them doesnt know her name and calling fortune teller) <- i think this is even more crazy when the author writes her like that but oh well 🙃 and i saw some people wanting to see her dying and i think this is crazy 😭

As for shin...i saw people blaming shin in the last chapter and like how its his fault when the author brought the quantum tunnelling theory out of nowhere 😭😭 though i can understand that why people think he has a plot armor and ughh once again i hate this chapter cause i wanted to see shin saving himself...yeah pls just leave him alone 💔

TVA - fave TVC character (IMO Armand is THE most sympathetic character in the books, and Claudia's THE most tragic); beautifully written, interesting time period, found family dynamics, religious trauma, I love it all

Blood Communion - the series finale! bittersweet, but it had a very Disneyfied happily ever after, that at least lets all the fan faves get what they want out of immortality; no muss no fuss

Blackwood Farm - funniest/craziest TVC book IMO. Random AF and I liked the Mayfair crossovers, although I'm pissed about Merrick. My least problematic version of Lestat, just chilling with Quinn and being a diva.

Prince Lestat - the payoff I wanted after QotD; as THE plot advanced. Very action-packed & mysterious goings-on

QotD - The Twins are goated, esp. Mekare. I dislike Lestat in this book, but his dynamic with Akasha is horrifyingly fascinating

Merrick: Other than Claudia's seance & Merrick's history of the Black Mayfairs, I hated this book. Louis was #Depressed. David is a effing degenerate (derogatory). I DO NOT care what that colonizing culturally appropriating closeted racist fetishizing pedophile has to say. And Aaron disappointed me, too--I really liked him in the Witching Hour.

Blood Canticle: WTF. Like...WHY?

TotBT: I hate everything about this book. Lestat was the stupidest he's ever been, to trust a single word coming out of Raglan James' mouth. I hated the way he treated Louis (who was right all along, as usual); I hate how sloppy & messy the chase is; and I hate David (though I do feel bad for what Les did to him, that was effed up)

Most excited to see from AMC:

Loustat bossing it up in the Chateau Era

Mekare vs Akasha (hopefully we see Enkil in action, too)

What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I have no idea. I used to write a lot of angsty stuff back when I was younger but the older I get the more I gravitate towards fics that leave the characters in a... well, maybe not necessarily in a good place exactly, because I tend to ship a lot of dysfunctional ships and write unhealthy relationship dynamics, but I don't want the characters to feel hopeless and unhappy in the end, so even when they're in a bad situation, they're making the best out of it.

A very old, very angsty fic of mine is Too Close To Touch (Harry Potter, various permutations of Draco, Harry and Hermione). I don't know if it's the angstiest overall, but it occasionally still gets comments so it's fresh in my mind despite having been written almost two decades ago.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Oh no, this is similarly hard to answer. Maybe Throw Away the Plan (The Flash, Coldwestallen)? Most of my endings seem to be "the main conflict of the story is dealt with, the ship kisses and things are okay-ish for now". 🙃

Do you get hate on your fic? Maybe once or twice, but nothing dramatic or memorable, luckily enough.

Do you write smut? Sometimes.

Do you write crossovers? No.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yes! Someone copied a few of my fics word by word, replaced the names and posted them as Kpop RPS. D: D: D: I got the author to take them down, but they did it with a lot of people's fics and eventually AO3 banned them.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, a few! I blanket allow translations, as long as they're credited properly and not posted anywhere but AO3.

Have you ever co-written a fic? Yes, but it was a really long time ago, and coordinating was pretty stressful. I prefer to work on my own schedule.

What‘s your all-time favourite ship? Noooo, don't make me choose. I love so many ships! If I absolutely had to pick one, it would be Tommy/Bubonic from Eye Candy, but it mostly depends on what I'm in the mood for right in that moment.

What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? There's Coldflash BDSM fic based on a long-forgotten Tumblr prompt I would have loved to write one day, but it would be far longer than anything I'm comfortable writing and it's only 'in progress' in so far that I have a few dialogue snippets from it written down yet.

What’s your writing strengths? Character voices and snappy banter, probably.

What’s your writing weaknesses? Plot!!!! As you can see by every fic I've written where the characters get captured or attacked by some nameless villain for nebulous reasons. I always handwave stuff like that because I simply can't bring myself to care about it or put any thought into it. 😅 Sorry!

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? As a reader, It always throws me out of the story. :(

First fandom you wrote for? The X-Files! Mulder/Krycek was teenage Sandrine's first fanfic obsession. (Though technically, I wrote terrible Star Wars and The Three Musketeers fic long before I knew what fanfic was! But I've decided that doesn't count. 😅)

Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

(never been) so much at stake (OW, Vampire Moonlighting As A Barista/Exhausted Vampire Hunter In Search Of Caffeine) is probably the best, but The Biggest Score of All (The Flash, Coldflash) has my heart!

1. About being bisexual

I feel like there are definitely different dynamics at play bc I do attract more butch leaning women who want to be my daddy 🫣🙈 but whenever it's a femme x femme dynamic, I always feel like I become the more dominant one and I do kinda hate it 😭😭

majority of people in this world are not living happy lives, be it with regard to love, career or family. To even have one of these things going well is a huge blessing ✨and while it's possible to have all of them, it's okay to not beat yourself up for achieving all 3 in one go.

One of my dad's childhood friends, remained unmarried into her late 40s. This is veryyyy unusual in India and she's not from a bougie artsy family where such things are chill or anything either. She, however, had a brilliant career and is a civil servant and rn she's in a veryyy high ranking position because she's worked her way up. Everybody around her pitied her (for being single and childless) but she was just out there making $$$ by the time she hit her late 40s people stopped pestering her because by that point, it's kinda "too late" to settle down. BUT GUESS WHAT HAPPENED??? she met a reallyyyyy cute Swiss-German man who was visiting our state/city and she happened to be the one showing him around?? (someone linked them up basically) and that wonderful meet-cute led them to marriage in like 2 months lol ,,, this lady who had been single for 47+ years found the right guy and married him in less than 2 months???? Isn't that sooooo romantic??? It's all about timing 💛💛 and now they've been together for a decade and spend most of their year travelling the world ✨and are very much in love

So different eras of our life will have us focusing on different things. Rn it's probably best to make that $$$ and focus on yourself. Love will find you when it needs to 💛✨💛

3. About flirting in non-English

JAJAJSJ yess I used to cringe 😬 hearing Desi flirting across languages 😭but now I feel like I've finally decolonised my mind to find it cute 😭

My ex was Tamil and he used to call me "bomma" which means "doll" in Tamil ,, I had a flop talking stage with another Tamil guy who used to call me "Kitty kutty" ("little kitty") and idk if it's a Tamil guy thing but they go hardddd with their affection through terms of endearment

I both am deeply concerned for and deeply disgusted with the fanfiction authors on this site.

I love fanfiction especially Marvel and Loki fanfiction just in case the profile pic wasn't a dead giveaway. But while reading fics on this app, I've been noticing a very triggering trend which goes a little something like--

Avengers treats love interest like shit but the love interest forgives them as soon the Avenger confesses because they wanna be worshipped by them and be associated with the Avengers.

And like I knew there was something familiar about the plot, but I couldn't really figure out what it was until I roasted someone this morning for hating on Rob Pattinson for being in Twilight. Cause Rob loathes those movies and for very, very good reasons aside from the fact that Edward is a controlling, stalkery, manipulative dick who wants Bella to be a kept woman with no close friends other than his own family or people he's hand-selected from the vampire community, there is all kinds of cringe shit going on behind the scenes with the author of the series Stephanie Meyer.

Meyer is a self-proclaimed conservative Mormon who has bragged about never swearing or seeing an R-rated movie, and that makes me so sad for her. Cause aside from the fact that she is missing out on some of the greatest cinema of all time, it sounds like she has the personality of a literal twelve-year-old. Like Stephanie Meyer is stuck in a neverending LARP session where she roleplays as a puriteen influencer.

I'm referring to Mormonism as LARPing cause you are seriously delusional if you think that shit isn't a cult, and it only gets more disturbing there. Like all of the Twilight characters are named after people from her real life and the pedo-wolf love interest Jacob Black is named after

Stephanie Meyer's brother.

But anyway getting back to the point, I finally realized that the fics I've been reading have all been ripping off the plot of Twilight. Especially the ones with Loki as a love interest cause for some reason the fic authors on this app all have degradation kinks and are desperate for Total Power Exchange relationship dynamics.

For those of you who aren't in the know, a Total Power Exchange dynamic is when a sub agrees to allow a Dom to control certain aspects or sometimes even all areas of their personal life. Basically, it's when you get off on having a controlling partner.

Edward and Bella have what could be considered a TPE dynamic except that the difference between their relationship and a real TPE dynamic is that Bella never consented to Edward controlling every aspect of her personal life. In BDSM the key to a healthy relationship is open and honest communication -- Safe, Sane, and Consensual, right? I mean, that's the key to every healthy relationship but it's especially important in BDSM because of the sadomasochism aspect. Some people take it a lot farther than just spanking.

And aside from the aforementioned issues this trend concerns me because Twilight came out when I was in high school, right, and I went through a serious Twihard phase. It's fucking embarrassing. It was also dangerous because not only do I have a super abusive mother who did not give a shit about what I did, I also had a whole bunch of undiagnosed mental health issues -- thanks, mom🙃 -- and ended up internalizing a lot of what I read in Twilight because I had zero media literacy because of said mental health issues.

So I ended up fetishizing abusive relationships, I got married way too young to an abusive asshole and had a string of abusive relationships after we divorced, I got raped, and ended alternating between couch surfing and homeless shelters for a while. And it was all because of Twilight.

And you could be like, "Well, it's not Stephanie Meyer's fault that your mom's a cunt and you were stupid." And you're right. I take responsibility for my own questionable taste, but there's also a little something called artistic integrity.

Artistic integrity is a personality trait kind of where an artist -- IE Stephanie Meyer -- gives a shit about their audience and the media they are putting out into the world. They aren't doing it for a cash grab -- they're doing it because they have a story to tell and a message to send. One that is important, culturally relevant, and asks important questions -- their work is political. It questions the social norm. These things, in my opinion, is what makes something art -- it separates art from trash.

Stephanie Meyer has no artistic integrity.

She didn't stop to wonder if readers like me or with issues similar to mine exist -- we do and, yeah, I'm kinda bitter about it. That is why Twilight is a problematic series -- that is why everyone from Robert Pattinson to Stephen motherfucking King has roasted that series to hell and back.

And I know someone out there is gonna be like, "Well, Rob said he lied all the time bac--"

Well, Robert fucking Pattinson is an actor and a damn good one.

And he wasn't lying when he said that Edward Cullen was a whiny, pathetic, suicidal virgin. Ya know how I know this -- because I read the books, for one thing, and for another I paid attention.

Like have all the Twihards out there suddenly forgotten when Edward tried to commit suicide by stepping out into the sun half-naked, so he could he trigger the Volturi into curb stomping his ass? Or when he straight up told Bella that he wouldn't fuck her until AFTER they were married cause there was just one rule that he wanted to leave unbroken?

It was in the movies, so if reading is too hard for you there ya go.

And, yeah, I'm triggered right now and no, I'm not sorry cause if you are knowingly ripping off the plot to Twilight to use for Marvel fanfiction and give absolutely ZERO shits about your readers' mental health you are a shit person. I don't care. I'm not sorry and that brings me to the part that is most concerning about this situation.

I know that there are other ND and mentally ill users on Tumblr. I know that some of them have the same issues I had growing up because of lack of access to mental healthcare. That means that some of these authors are doing this subconsciously: Some of them aren't even aware that they're copying Twilight or why it's wrong or why they need to be concerned about having artistic integrity. And to you guys, I am truly so so sorry and I really hope you are able to get some sort of help or at least talk to someone about this.

But the rest of ya -- the ones who truly do not give a shit that I know exist because this app is crawling with TERFs, radfems, and tradwives -- that movement was popularized by white supremacists by the way. Look it up. And those people are abusive, self-obsessed cunts with a perpetual victim complex that don't care who they hurt cause they will always, always, always try to blame someone else for their actions.

You guys -- the abusers that decided to basically plagiarize Twilight to boost your reblog numbers for your fanfics -- are shitty people.

Romeo is many things, but shallow isn’t one of them. If he or Juliet were, their love affair would have been over when they first found out they were each other’s enemy. There is only one thing shallow about Shakespeare’s play and that is Veronian society itself, deliberately depicted as such.

These knuckleheads then go on to reference Romeo bro-ing with his bros as “proof” of this. Never mind that Mercutio and Benvolio weren’t supposed to know about R&J’s relationship, no one could, so Romeo getting them off his tail and being normal can be in no way performative. Juliet has her Nurse on the know so she doesn’t have to perform either. And again, she has to make sure her parents aren’t on her tail. Even then, though, she makes sure not to lie (technically).

The only point where either Romeo and Juliet can be said to be in any way performative is Romeo’s “love” for Rosaline and Juliet having to come up with a diplomatic response to her mother and nurse on the question of marriage.

“Older pair of lovers” with “Teenage Dream” with nightingale and lark rip-off…it’s giving unintentional parody. It’s giving “no thoughts, head empty.”

Romeo “I killed myself for my true love and honored my rival’s dying request to be lain with her because of course that is perfectly logical to me” Montague, an ego?????? This is arguably worse than Fey!Romeo. What is with modern musicals and their insistence that every single male love interest/character be a huge egotistical dick?

Okay, so Tumblr won’t let me add in another screenshot, but I have to talk about the fact that these numbskulls straight up confessed they wanted to do a Max Martin musical (per producer diktat) and came up with the R&J plot afterward because, and I kid you not…most of Martin’s songs are about young teen love. 😑 Yeah, dude, like 95% of all pop music ever since the Beatles.

Also, also, not all songs about young teen love necessarily fit R&J!!! From what I can tell, the songs they chose have little to no relevance to the characters or dynamic at all, hence this new fanfic plot. And judging by the excerpts, I don’t think they even bothered changing the lyrics to fit the new context. They really should have just changed the names à la West Side Story, but they definitely knew the show wouldn’t have sold as well without the tie-in. It just pisses me off, this consistent disrespect for the source material all the while exploiting it for profit.

The family dynamics in BBC Merlin’s family show was amazing🙃

1)Uther, a single parent who cheated on his wife before she died, lied to his daughter about who her father was and made his son insecure and feel that he was never good enough. 2)Hunith, a single parent that sent her only son off to live with a man she hadn’t seen or heard from since before her son was born, because she didn’t know what to do with his magic (never mind the fact that magic was banned in Camelot and he stood to be executed had Uther found out he had magic, potentially sending him to his death). 3)Tom, a single parent who’s only son just took off and left him and his daughter to get by on their own and wasn’t even around when his father died. 4)Arthur, had a half sister that hated him for no reason, and an uncle that conspired with his sister to betrayed him, although his sister was no relation to his uncle at all. Plus Arthur was the only child of his uncle’s sister Ygraine and he had no reason to betray his only nephew. 5)Morgana, killed her father, hated her brother for no reason, repeatedly tried to kill him and had a half sister that gave her bad advice. 6)Although we didn’t see Gwaine’s sister, he made it clear that he could care less about her. 7)Plus all the deaths and tragedies that took place - Ygraine dying, Gwen’s father murdered by her husband’s father (try explaining that to their kids😞) Gwen’s mother dying (didn’t even bother giving her a name which was tragic), Balinor murdered, and Elyan murdered for no reason. BBC Merlin Family Dynamics, gotta love it😟 The least they could have done was illustrate and drive the point that family isn’t always blood but the people in your life that love and care for you no matter what by allowing the surrogate families they created for each other come full circle. Arthur and Gwen create their loving, beautiful family with their children (they would have been such good parents😔). Surrounding them and their children would be Gaius as a grandfather, Hunith as a grandmother, Merlin and the Knights as uncles. A family created not by blood but by tribe!

SaL anon here reading last night's post while laughing in self-depreceation. Somehow Chris has gotten a reprieve from me for 3 reasons. First the Kyle and Michael interaction this episode was one of the best things this show's produced. Second Alex wasn't even in the episode and if he's missing some I'm glad it was this one because reason 3, namely for the first time something half of Malex said to the other wasn't immediately forgotten or undermined, but was a catalyst for growth in the other.

So overall, I thought the episode was pretty solid, but not like, wildly exciting (except for every single scene with Kyle, my beloved) but I also didn't have any major moments that I hated so 🤷‍♀️ I definitely didn't end the episode with wildly conflicting emotions like 3x03 but not quite with the high I had after 3x02 which is what makes it a pretty balanced, solid episode.

The Kyle/Michael dynamic is EVERYTHING!! I loved every bit of it and while it's stirring up bitter feelings once again about not getting to see what lead to the "I could pick his nipples out of a line up" line, I still adored every moment. Kyle is really carrying this season on those beautiful, broad shoulders of his and we love to see it!

I'm also glad Alex missed this one because there was enough going on that I think having Deep Sky stuff happening too would have been too crowded and I'm happy to have him missing episodes early in the season. (Also I didn't have to brace for his character to have to remind us all once again that he worships m*ria so that was nice. Loving that THAT'S a fear now every time Alex is on screen 🙃🙃🙃) and while I have a bit of a *side eye* 😒 complaint about Michael's miraculous growth, it's actually a very small complaint and it's mostly tempered by the fact that we did finally get something they talked about coming back and not just forgotten to c*rina could move on to the next traumatic moment for them, which is a nice change of pace!
