Cissnei in Rebirth is everything to me. The fact that she kept her promise. That fact that she is so haunted by the guilt of her failure. The fact that she's hiding from everyone who she is and her history with shinra. The fact that she's a terrible cook. The fact that she cannot bear to tell her newfound family that their son is dead and she can never take his place. The fact that she knows Cloud and tries to hide from him too. The fact that she never told Zack her real name and she could have gone anywhere, been anyone, but she chose to stay as Cissnei.

You know if PMD2 wanted to cap on the angst even more they could have had everyone forget all the peeps from the future including Player. So the first section of the post game about Partner trying to find who it is that's haunting their nightmares and that they're missing so bad.

...Possibly with Darkrai disguised as Cresselia as a temp party member trying to keep an eye on the sole survivor of the crew who twarted his plans. Dreams are his/her domain after all. :)

Books of 2024: What I'd Like To Read By The End Of The Year.

I was feeling ~Whelmed~ over the weekend about all the things I still want to read, and I thought to myself, "Gee Why Is That??", so I pulled everything off my shelf and stacked it up basically in the order I'd like to read it and then went "....ah I see, carry on."

Now this stack WOULD be fine, except everything from ALWAYS COMING HOME down through HOUSE OF LEAVES is stuff I'd like to read adjacent to writing projects, namely: 1. IN BETWEEN (which I'm working on now but need to wrap up by the end of August) and then 2. NANO (which, y'know. Starts on November 1). So the sixteen (16) books between ACH and HOL are for the next three (3) months, and then I'll come back for the side-leaners during/after NaNo, I think.

(Not pictured in this stack is STARLING HOUSE, which I don't have in hand yet but will also be a NaNo Prep book!)

Basically my plan is to read down through this stack in this order and see how long it takes me! I finally got set up with my coworking space today, so hopefully I'll be writing late a couple nights a week starting. tomorrow. Which. will eat into reading time pretty significantly, hopefully.

But there's so much cool stuff I want to read! And write! And knit!! You see why I'm having A Time, huh.

Appreciate that Lucy avoids any overt romance plots by failing to pick up on any of it. Yes she moons over Lockwood for 5 books. No she does not process the implications of a ghost disguising itself as her to lead him to his death. She missed Holly having a crush on her and also missed Holly telling her about it. The skull keeps going *PS5 voice* 'leave your friends we don't need them' and her reaction is 👍 read 7:35pm while Lockwood gets one look at him and mentally speedruns the 'she likes bones' bit of Harrow the Ninth. Queen of dodging YA n-drangles by simply not perceiving them. Any number of additional characters could be hitting on her but how would we know? She doesn't.

I didn't mean to leave at the end xD; I was trying to turn around and it booted me out...

I don't mind not cleansing Plaything but Ruin is a different story... I've had super hard matches because of Ruin so I wanted to cleanse it. But you know xD I've ignored lit totems that turned out to be Devour so I do like cleansing them. Also she downed me while I was waiting for my syringe to heal me. That makes me so salty but it's just bad luck.
