i like to think the story of the hero of time is actually mostly an oral tradition on Outset, or at least that's how Gran Gran first told Link and Aryll the stories when they were children.

i worry a little bit about these 'lore recap" updates, bc like. I'm assuming you've played the games, or at least know the gist. but I feel like there's a few stories it's important for us to see Loft's direct reactions to, and the conclusions he draws from them, because it'll be important to his actions later. I try to make up for it by at least making these sections visually interesting HAHA i think this is the last major one though

on that note: I hope this comes across on its own, but Loft finishes Gran Gran's story himself because he's just realized the flood was sent by the gods, and not some external force of evil. he's also realizing that this is not the first time the gods have been willing to wipe the slate clean in the absence of a hero, and that it's actually something of a pattern. it runs up against his idea of how Demise's curse is meant to work. this is one such mystery mouseketool we'll use later.

also on that note: regardless of ganondorf's actions, i find it significant that the gods chose to destroy a man whose people suffered in a droughted desert with,,,,a flood. that thought was the conceit for this update

What do you think it'd take for Dr. Robby to indulge Reader in that glove kink? Michael Robinavitch would come home early in the evening after having spent the day tirelessly working at The Pitt, his eyes a little duller and weary with exhaustion.

There, he'd smell the fragrant, warm scent of spices from whatever you decided to cook for dinner that day still hanging in the air.

His stomach would rumble, but that can wait, he thinks, because in the twelve hours since he's last seen you, he's craving your attention and presence.

He feels somewhat guilty for it; he's so attached to someone half his senior--shouldn't it be the other way around? Still, he can hear the shower running somewhere in the background, past the quiet chatter of the television playing as he walks past the living room.

So, he'll venture into your shared room and bask in the new smell of your body wash and shampoo--sweet and flowery. Some days, when you're out for groceries or reuniting with friends, he'll lay on your side of the bed and take deep breaths while smushed into the covers. That's how he's able to get the best naps in between shifts, inhaling what is uniquely you.

Now though, the sound of your soft singing floats through the bedroom and leaves him feeling slightly rejuvenated already. Like a siren's call, he thinks lamely.

Opening the door to the bathroom, your singing becomes a little louder, more echo-y as it bounces off of the cutely decorated walls of one of your shared spaces. Ever since you've moved in, you've taken to refurnishing Robby's entire house, making it feel more like a home in the process. Robby doesn't mind at all.

"Hey, sweetheart," Robby would say, throwing his jacket out of the bathroom and watching it fall somewhere on the bed nearby, "I'm home."

Your head would peek out from behind the curtain, eyes wide with excitement, "Hey, babe! I was wondering when you'd get home."

Robby would laugh as he begins to discard his clothes and dispose of them indiscriminately. You'd ask, "Coming in?"

Robby would respond with a question, "Can I?"

You'd chuckle lightly, "Of course, you can! Do you want me to rub your neck once you get in?"

Robby would groan, "Yes, please. I've got this crick in it that isn't going away."

Then, you'd wave him in, not at all stealing a glance once he's fully naked. You still haven't gotten used to that yet, just the sight of Robby's naked form excites you to no end. Robby wouldn't say this yet, but he's already getting riled up at the thought of sharing such an intimate moment with you, too.

Once Robby's in, you'd awkwardly switch places with him so you'd have better access to his neck. Your hands, so soft and inviting, would easily rub out any knots or wound lumps in Robby's neck, forcing him to moan.

Just the comfortable silence, save for a moan here or there, would get both of you in the mood for something more. From this position, you can't see the erection Robby is sporting while you work your magic.

As you're about to stop, a thought you haven't been able to abandon would shove into the front of your mind and beg for your attention. You wouldn't want to bring it up now, but you simply can't help yourself.

"Hey, Robby?"

"Hhm?" Robby would moan out.

Your hands would fall and grasp each other as nervous energy wracked your body.

"Um, can I ask you something?" You'd say in the sweetest, most innocent voice possible.

Robby would then turn around and see the position you've taken up: hands wringing and head tilted downwards.

Robby would goad you to open up, to which you'd respond with what's been bugging you for a couple weeks, at this point. You'd want Robby to be Dr. Robby at home, just for once. To examine your body like one of his thousand patients and help you along to what you're craving most.

Robby would laugh to himself, hand running over his beard as he considered the possibility, "I'm way too old for this."

You'd squeak with embrassement, "Just ignore it! It's nothing, anyway. Just a thought."

But Robby loves you, and he wouldn't be able to lie to himself; he'd like to play around with the idea, too. So, Robby would console you and give in to your desires, despite his age.

This would lead to him getting all dressed up once you're both out of the shower, (just his work clothes and usual stethoscope, along with his ID to seal the deal). Excitement would course through your veins as you watch him glove up from the bed, entirely naked.

Then, he'd approach the side you're laying on, "I'm Dr. Robinavitch, but you can call me Dr. Robby, what seems to be the problem today?"

You'd struggle to stay still, which would entertain Robby, to no end. But you'd inform Robby of your "problem," and he would begin his "work."

His smooth, gloved hands would feel shockingly cold against your still hot skin, and the blue latex would stick to the damp parts of your body as they glided every which way. Then, Robby would begin to feel every curve in the name of medicine, asking if anything hurt or not.

You'd shake your head no when his hands ghosted over your plush hips, but shake your head yes when his hands would make their way up to your breasts.

"They hurt, a little. I think they need a massage," you'd say, your intentions bare for all to see.

oh hey don't worry, I haven't really talked much about the details of the AU like ... ever. I just started reviving it because I got my partner into the show (they are also a new fan! yay, new fans! Funny enough I had no idea TBOB was coming out so the timing was mad exquisite.) and they have just been an amazing help shaping my messy thoughts and coming up with new, fun plots! It's also nice to know there's someone out there interested in it, so thank's for asking! Now that I read TBOB I want to change the premise a bit, but the core is still the same.

Let me tell you this AU is silly. I'm aware Billford is toxic and there are many corners to dive into to picture their messy relationship. But I kinda wanna keep the spirit of the show here and make it equally as fun as it is disturbing. Given that Bill canonically is trapped in endless Therapy gives me even more food to work with, he just out there being toxic and people repeatedly telling him to cut it out.

I'm not gonna go into too much detail because I'm actually working on the first comic chapter for this AU, but regarding the characters: Each of the Pines, as well as Wendy and Soos, are not happy seeing him, but individually grow more accustomed to him and with him. I guess going from "most accepting" to "least accepting", Mabel took it the best. I wouldn't say she was quick to forgive, but quick enough to give the guy a chance. And I honestly have to say that, although this is 100% a Billford AU, there's so many plot ideas for just Mabel and Bill and their amazing, chaotic shenanigans. Put these two together and the stories basically write themselves. Wendy is pretty similar, and the most chill in actually helping Bill figure out human stuff.

Naturally, Ford took it the hardest. I'm aiming for slowburn here, haha. They got to figure out some stuff that I'm so ready to put onto pages... Ford is a lot of emotions. Confused, angered, curious... Meanwhile Stan is Bills biggest hater. (There is a lot of bullying in this AU) He just keeps up with it because his Family makes him. He's very protective and tries to kick Bill out several times. Soos sticks with Stan, but he's also Soos and has a big heart, so in Bills eye, he's very gullible and a target he can mess with easily.

Dipper is not a fan either, he has a hard time adjusting to the triangle just getting to ... be there. He's suspicious for the most part and Bill has to try hard to get on his good side. But honestly he might be more upset with Mabel (and later on Wendy) for making friends with Bill so easily, even though he knows that's just their nature. I just recently started thinking about Gideon and how I'd like to include him, but nothing worth mentioning so far yet.

With Bill himself, one my favorite parts trying to portray so far is how he's dealing with his new mortality. He adjusts to the body fine, he knows how to navigate flesh, but he has a hard time accepting that it's his body. His new prison, essentially. If it's gone, he's gone. If he treat's it like shit, he feels like shit. Then we add the psychological aspect of things. And more importantly, we add Ford to the equation. When I tell you, that demon is experiencing psychological damage here, and it's fully his fault. TBOB really pointed out to me that I need to dive into his obsession with Ford. How do you even get a man you fumbled so bad, to even acknowledge you again?

I love yapping about this AU, thanks again for giving me the grounds to do so anon! I'm an insecure writer so it'll probably take another hot minute to choose which script feels best to draw out, haha. But I'm glad you seem to be up for the ride!!

It's so the reader is a total hopeless romantic. Loves rom coms and disney movies and is always so happy and positive and dreams of being loved like how the love in the movies but nothing ever seems to work out and though she stays optimistic it's really hard to. Now counter this with grumpy pessimistic Logan who thinks she's naïve about love and just life in general. He knows that fairytales don't exist and he never even thinks about wishing and hoping because that's never done him any good before.

Now imagine the reader starts getting these letters from a secret admirer and she's super excited and happy and Logan finds out that its some assholes pranking her, like another professor who is jealous of her or some students being jerks and Logan wants to tell you but doesn't have the heart so he says it's him and the two of you end up falling in love. The angst comes when you find out it's a joke and Logan has been lying but it's all resolved when he confesses that you've changed the way he looks at life and he never thought it was possible hehe

"Sweetheart I saw Snow White when it was in theaters back in the 30's. That shit has always been nothing but a bunch of bullshit." Logan says sarcastically. You roll your eyes at his pessimistic statement.

"Haven't you ever been in love? You can't tell me that it's not one of the best feelings in the world Logan." You sigh dreamily.

All you ever wanted was to be a fairytale princess. The talking animals and dress was nice but what you wanted was the happy ending romance that came with it. You want to be loved unconditionally, that's not too much to ask for is it? You hand him the letter that was left at at your door. He skims it and has to stop himself from gagging at the sickly sweet wording.

"I mean just look at it. It's so romantic."

samy was a bit disoriented still when there was a small knock on the wooden door. she looked up expecting one of her parents or luke, but becoming pleasantly surprised when she saw gabe and ryan lingering instead.

"hey hughesy," ryan stepped in first, eagerly opening his arms to hug her. the brunette grinned, slowly pushing herself up to wrap her good arm around his larger frame.

"hi guys. thought you were my mom or something," samy chuckled while gabe carefully hugged her next. ryan went to pull up the empty chairs closer to the bed for them.

"glad it's us then and not her?" the darker-haired boy teased a bit and samy nodded. she loved her parents, but they've been down her throat since she woke up, hardly leaving her alone.

"how are you? luke told us it was a tendon tear. that shit sucks," ryan mumbled, shaking his head as him and gabe sat down.

samy fell back into the bed, a small sigh escaping her lips while getting herself comfortable again. "i'm okay. i'm pretty high on pain meds so i don't feel much. disappointed about being out for awhile though."

"yeah, that's the worst. do you know when you'll be back?" gabe wondered.

"well, i have to wear the sling for 6-8 weeks. complete healing isn't for like 6-9 months though, so i guess it all depends on what i can handle, what my doctor wants, what coach wants.." she trailed off a bit, more disappointment clear in her features after the excitement that was this season and now possibly not getting to even really play it.

"oh shit, that's kind of a long time. will you be able to play championships?" ryan's eyes widened.

"maybe. it all depends," another sigh and the boys shared her feelings as the three went silent for a moment.

someone's phone vibrated on the bedside table and it wasn't ryan's or gabe's because their phones were in their pockets. samy's gaze swept over to the screen at the same time gabe's did—both of them seeing will's name come up. the girl quickly looked away, a flush settling onto her cheeks in embarrassment? she couldn't really place her feelings, so she avoided the look gabe gave her and ryan's confusion when he saw the two exchanging glances.

"have you called him yet?" gabe didn't beat around the bush with this one earning a small grimace from the girl in the bed.

she didn't say anything so gabe took that as a no. ryan quickly caught on knowing they couldn't be talking about anyone but will.

"luke said he called him to update him while i was in surgery," samy mumbled softly as if that was her excuse as to why she hadn't called him yet. she knew it wasn't a excuse, but for some reason, she just couldn't bring herself to call the blonde in california.

"but why haven't you called him? you know he's waiting to hear from you," gabe softly pointed out, not wanting to push it.

"i know, i know...i just..i..don't know. i don't want to burden him you know? he's got a game and i don't want to distract him. i'm fine so it doesn't matter," more excuses tumbled from the younger hughes' lips and she hated seeing the boys' expressions of slight disapproval.

"you think you're a burden to him? you know that's not true," gabe shook his head because if anyone knew how much will cared about samy it was him. every late night phone call, every text, every glance—he saw it all and samy was never a burden in that boy's mind.

"no, i know that. i just..fuck. i don't know.."

"you're just..scared of opening back up to him?" ryan cut in softly when samy stumbled over her words. her eyes shot to his that he captured her feelings so perfectly.

"yeah, maybe. is that stupid?" the brunette mumbled, almost ashamed that she couldn't call her boyfriend.

"it's not stupid, samy. he hurt you and broke your trust. that kind of betrayal doesn't just..disappear when you get back together. it takes time rebuilding that," ryan immediately assured her and she knew he was serious when he called her samy and not hughes or hughesy.

"then why do i feel stupid and why can't i bring myself to call him or answer his messages?" the girl frowned while burying her face into her hands. a gentle, comforting hand fell on her arm.

"your brain? i get it. opening up again to someone who hurt you isn't easy, but i do know that will does care. you're not burdening him or whatever. he's your boyfriend. he's supposed to be there for you and help you through hard things," when she reopened her eyes ryan was rubbing her good arm in soft strokes with a reassuring smile.

gabe also mirrored his expression.

"i'm just scared i'll run him out or something again by putting stuff like this on him on top of hockey. i don't really know what i'd do if that happened again," the youngest hughes chuckled to try and laugh her slight tears away.

"well he'd be a fucking idiot if he pulled that shit again," gabe added making everyone laugh more.

"i guess it's still kind of fresh, you know? something i still think about like..a lot. more than i should probably. luke, jack, quinn, and all them are still getting used to us being back together too. i got scared. whatever," samy shrugged as she wiped at her wet eyes.

"completely understandable. he hurt you. you don't owe anyone anything, hughesy. call him whenever you're ready, or we could always call him, too," ryan smiled softly and she appreciated it. she squeezed ryan's arm back, finally getting rid of all her tears. 

"thanks. i'll call him eventually. i just need some more time and not be high on pain meds," they all shared a laugh. 

when gabe and ryan left after an hour samy was left by herself for a bit meaning she was left with her thoughts, too. the younger girl stared at her phone that had will's number pulled up on it. all she needed to do was press call, but something kept stopping her. the thoughts in the back of her head that she was burdening him despite what gabe and ryan said; the thoughts of being too much; the thoughts of him running out on her again. 

she just couldn't call him no matter how hard she tried fighting those thoughts, so will's contact stayed untouched for the rest of the night.

Hi hi hi theeeee biggest apology for taking forever to respond. pls accept my love 💛🌟 SO, I haven't actually read any of the original fanfictions that Lorenzo (Enzo) Berkshire, Mattheo Riddle and Theodore Nott are from. Though I know Theo is canon, there is a fanfiction that gave him more of a personality and I believe where he got his fancast face from. If im correct all the original fanfiction for these characters started on wattpad. Please I apologise if I get any of this info incorrect its just what I've picked up myself or learnt from friends.

Mattheo Riddle I believe he was created from the fanfiction Possessive by yasmineamaro. It's a draco Malfoy fic but he's a character that gets introduced in it. I only know this based off what friends have told me. I know his face claim is Benjamin Wadsworth and the most pics are taken from when he was in Deadly Class. Which I recommend watching if you haven't, it's a good show and he's gorgeous in it. Mattheo seems to be switched between Tom Riddles son/brother depending on who writes the fic, but is originally Tom and Bellatrix's son.

Of course, with fanfiction you can bend characters in a way that fits the plot or scenario of your fic and character (reader). Lorenzo Berkshire Enzo I believe came from the fanfiction Filthy created by babynaomi. Another original Draco Malfoy fanfiction haha and him as more of a side character. His face claim is Louis Partridge original picked from Enola Holmes. Also he is adorable in that, especially the second film. Enzo in this fic is a fucking prick. He's a perverted, slimy git who manipulates and uses women. Again Louis is so adorable its easy to think of Enzo as super sweet, I try to find a blend between the two personalities. But always trying to remember that Enzo is a Slytherin for a reason. Pretty sure his mother is also bellatrix, so he’s suppose to be Mattheos half-brother and Draco’s cousin. Don’t quote me on that 🫢

Theodore Nott Theo is originally mentioned in the Harry Potter series and in the Cursed child. From what I know, he was a part of Draco Malfoy's gang, and his father was a death eater who was caught in the Order of the Pheonix with Lucius. Also that he invented the time turner in the Cursed child and sent to Azkaban by Harry as an adult. But his fanfiction which gives him more of a personality that I base my writing on at least, and the one I discovered he was in, is Secret and Masks by Emerald_Slytherin. His face claim is Lorenzo Zurzolo from the Italian show Baby. Also, another good show, and I fucking love his hair in that.

I'm not sure how everyone just came to agree but I bloody love that we all did. When I first got into them those were just the three guys already picked as face claims and I love them all and the personalities that have been picked. (I am the anon who recommended Ulysses Dies at Dawn) I hope you like it!!!! Udad is one of my favourite albums especially because of the world building around The City, so I hope you enjoyed it too!!

I did finish it, I quite liked it! Recommended it to my husband as well as he's a huuuge Epic fan (he's more of a musical theater person than me overall tbh) and probably would also love The Magnus Archives if he ever gave it a shot haha (I haven't touched TMA but I'm aware of its fandom presence on this hellsite LOL)

Overall it was a really cool concept album! Turning the setting of The Odyssey into a sort of post-modern steampunk epic was pretty unique and cool, especially with how they adapted some of the stories into said setting. Turning the riddle of the Sphinx into a literal disease that ages infants from birth to death within a matter of hours? Genius. And while it does take some massive creative liberties by incorporating other mythological characters like Herakles and Ariadne directly into the cast, it still did a pretty good job at creating a unique, thought-provoking, well-rounded plot with overarching themes and motifs in only an hour! I especially appreciate the little lore details they hid in the video descriptions and thumbnail art, I always love hunting for secrets like that haha

My favorite songs were probably My Name is No One, Riddle of the Sphinx, Sirens, and Favoured Son, the vocals are all wonderfully delivered (especially in Sirens, it gave me chills in the best way) and the narrative progression within the lyrics was very compelling especially in relation to the world-building.

I had a couple of least favorites too though, and unfortunately they were Orpheus' and Ariadne's songs which I wish I could love on that basis alone but alas, they just didn't hit the mark for me.

My issue with Trial by Song is largely personal, I can get what the vocalist was going for but that constant high-note vocal waving / shaking just doesn't do it for me, I've never been a fan of that delivery style so even if it was intentional and driven with purpose, it's just not something I can force myself to enjoy. But again, that's largely personal taste, not something I'm gonna hold against the vocalist because aside from that one personal ick they're doing a great job at hitting and maintaining those notes, if it weren't for that one thing I'd probably be way more into it haha

As for Ties That Bind, that one actually isn't a personal issue, at least as far as I can argue LOL On a technical level, the mixing felt very off, the instrumentals were often just way too loud compared to the vocalist which made it difficult to focus on what was being sung (and the mic quality itself didn't seem all that great either). And that problem was compounded by the vocalist's own stylization which threw me off because of how deep her voice suddenly sounded compared to how she had been speaking up until that point; it felt very forced and strained, especially when she tried to switch from those deep chest notes to those higher throat notes. This stylization clashed with the lyrics too, the line deliveries often felt "cramped" where the vocalist almost seemed to be slurring / rushing the words (sometimes they even felt completely off-tempo) which made it hard to make out what she was saying even when I could hear past the instrumentals. And that's not exactly ideal for a musical where the plot is literally being delivered through song LMAO It just felt like it could have used a bit more time in the oven IMO. I don't doubt that the vocalist is skilled, it just felt like the song was often working against her skills rather than with them.

All that said, in spite of those two criticisms I have of it after my first couple listens, I do think this is a great concept album and I was shocked to see it doesn't seem to have much attention on it judging by the view counts, it really deserves more attention and love because the amount of thought and detail that went into creating this world and its narrative and its characters is incredibly impressive.

So if you're like me and also had no clue this album existed until now, I highly suggest checking it out! It's not as big a time commitment as Epic or Hadestown, it only takes an hour to get through. And if you're into gritty steampunk film-noir stuff with lots of mystery and intrigue and twists, it'll probably be right up your alley!

The dots are connecting like crazy with the big bad's whole inner core crusade and also with the simultaneous demon case like I did not recognize Ao Yin as the demon Li Lun first released eight years ago but oooh do I enjoy that minor payoff.

Love the repeated use of the demonic-spell-restraining sigils now that we've been introduced to them though I wonder why the Bureau doesn't ever seem to make use of them. Maybe they don't deal with enough powerful demons to need to paint those in their own (very empty) dungeon? Or perhaps just plot convenience. (edit: someone has pointed out the Bureau indeed uses them!! I'm just blind <3)

Anyway I kind of wish in the Chongwu Camp dungeon PSJ fought a little bc she's so cool in action and their bailing was a little abrupt, but it makes sense that they'd have an immediate getaway plan. Also this is an ep 19 comment but that line Mr. 3-Face Mask delivered about PSJ being fated to always be betrayed by her little brother(s) HURT. So good.

Back to the Bureau, I do love me a good framing, and I'm also happy to get a tiny bit of the episodic demon-murder-case style back. WX was v clever to hide out in Situ Mansion, and (small detail but) I appreciate that the others catch her up on the Bai Jiu thing onscreen. As an aside, I also like that the actress for WX got to be double-casted even just briefly. Seeing some of the actors get to play around with portraying various extremes in characterization and costuming is a ton of fun.

And then yay Bai Jiu backstory at last~! It's crazy how much that blood moon fucked up everyone's lives eight years ago huh.

Everything ZYC says to him is on point (and honestly, ZYC is really quite adept at comforting others, he just sucks utter ass at it when it's his fault and he has to apologize lmaooo) but of course my favorite scene in the whole episode is as follows:

The very slight shine in the waterline, the bittersweet smile/grimace as, deliberately or not, ZYC's words indirectly echo everything about the circumstances between the two of them right now??? Whew. They did that for me specifically.

Anyway, this was a good one to chew on for me, packed with plot movement enough that I didn't feel unsatisfied with just one episode. I'm glad that so far it seems like the release schedule bears in mind what episodes should be watched in pairs for maximum effect (eps 16/17, 18/19 specifically) and which ones are okay to stand alone for the day, but I also don't want to speak too soon haha. We'll see how ep 21 fares.

Also since this is a ZYC stan account (lmao) I have some obligatory ZYC thoughts that I haven't managed to fit anywhere else. I've been meaning to comment on this for a while now and was reminded by this episode: I love the fact that ZYC actually smiles quite often. I think it's a bit surprising every time he does because he so easily fits the archetype of stoic broody action hero, but it really is just an archetype he's fit himself into, and it's never clearer than when they flash back to smiley baby!ZYC (how freely and purely he used to give those smiles away...).

On the other side of this is also how caustic and biting he can be with his words, whether sarcastically or otherwise, and how clearly his face telegraphs his emotions in general. I love that he actually emotes quite a lot and isn't cold and unaffected in the least, just pouty frowny and awkward.

The last piece to this for me is probably his age (which I very much appreciated being established super early on) and how convincingly TJR portrays him as young and inexperienced and extremely earnest. He's so sincere in everything he does that it really doesn't take much to move him, which also (imo) makes his arc less overdone.

We all know from the start what direction his development will likely go, how he'll learn he's mistaken about ZYZ and how he'll grow to have a more nuanced view of the world as he creates more bonds with others. But he's so emotional and emotionally aware that it doesn't really take much push and pull to get him there. And actually, it's not untread ground to him—he is moreso thawing, in part returning to the open-hearted nature that he had to very abruptly shutter away rather than fundamentally changing as a person. I think to me, that makes his character more compelling to watch because his cynicism about the world is perhaps the least sincere thing about him. It's entirely learned, and not by choice. Relatable.

No update today as I'm busy preparing for some upcoming travel, but I've finally got ask responses typed up under the cut!

Chris can cook! (As always, older content is of a nebulous canonicity since I've figured out individual characters/lore/etc. a good bit more the longer I've worked on the comic, but there is a one-shot where Chris and Andrew cook together here.)

In the past, Chris mostly cooked for his family, and trying to put together meals for 8+ people in the regular meant that he generally favors meals that are can be made in bulk and stored. When he has more time though, he does like experimenting a bit more with his cooking and having fun with it -- he struggles with hobbies that aren't "productive," and since cooking is a necessity, it's easier for him to justify spending time doing it. He's not much of a picky eater, and is willing to try things in general, so he'll try out new recipes when he can.

For the sake of contrast, Andrew does a lot of preserving/drying/canning -- while the town/region he's in now has enough infrastructure that people aren't entirely cut off over the winter months and can get supplies from warmer climates, he's spent many years having to worry about things like that -- the world was far less developed/connected when he was young. So even in the present day he hunts, preserves, and so on. He's perfectly capable of regular cooking as well of course, though he experiments a bit less than Chris does; he's already got hundreds of years' worth of recipes at his fingertips to choose from.

My focus right now is just getting through the main comic, haha. It would be nice to write more side stories or make side comics though! I just struggle to find the time/energy/motivation to pull it off.

I actually haven't put much thought into this! Mostly just been hand-waving them. It's vaguely mentioned in this one-shot that there are pylons in-use in the region because Malik uses them to travel between the desert and the forest, but that's about it.

I imagine that pylon networks are closed per-region, hence why it was such an ordeal for Chris to get to Purity Town in the first place -- he came from outside of the region by road, and had to get to a town within the region before having access to that region's pylon network.

I also think they're actually used a bit less in more developed regions, since those have the infrastructure to sustain safe connecting roads/waterways between towns and are often transporting more than what a single pylon can handle -- a pylon can move a person between biomes, but certainly not a ship.

Moving more into spitballing territory, pylons are linked to a specific biome, so I could see them having originated with the ancient dryads. Modern day though, I'm not sure how widespread their use is or how new ones are created. Something to think about I guess!

Within the comic itself, I don't plan to ever write an outwardly romantic scene involving Andrew.

I do like exploring the different dynamics/connections/relationships he has with other characters, and it's interesting to consider how his whole situation (extended but relatively unchanging life, suddenly impending death/mortality, burn scars, unique ties to the world's ancient magic, etc.) impacts each relationship in different ways. He struggles to form deep connections with others, and so both the specific close bonds he has with people and the lack of close bonds he has with others are important to the story in different ways.

I would rather focus on specific aspects of these bonds -- including things like devotion and affection -- without the need to cleanly categorize them as platonic/romantic. Essentially, what matters more to me/the story is how characters care about each other and how they interact through the stress of the plot in general.

But all that that amounts to is what I personally am including in this comic's main story. Your interpretation of both this AU and the actual game's canon is your own; I make silly side content for fun, and so can you!

All that being said: obviously with all my focus on the different relationships he has with people I enjoy exploring those ideas quite a bit, so I think you could make a case for a lot of very interesting romantic relationship dynamics between him and other NPCs if you wanted to!

Glad he's well-received! He's really fun to write and draw; he's just a little kid that likes to talk about fish.

Andrew actually puts a fair bit of effort into translating old books into the modern common language, so at least in that respect, he does contribute to general efforts of educating the modern populace on the old world. And while Andrew himself wasn't alive pre-Moon Lord, some of the older members of his community back when he was a kid were, so he picked up quite a few stories from them directly and was able to document them/share them. So, he's fairly knowledgeable on the subject and answers questions to the best of his ability when asked.

He told the Angler about Duke Fishron because the Angler is a kid who wants to learn about fish, so of course he'd want to hear about ancient super powerful fish. But most people don't care beyond passing curiosity (Andrew can, at times, be effectively the town's "Google equivalent" when wanting to resolve random arguments or learn about a specific subject) or personal interest. It's ancient history and doesn't come up often. He'd probably be a decent storyteller though, and might share a particularly good one now and then as part of an event or something similar!

Tumblr support never gave me the actual reason behind it; since it started happening immediately after posting some ask responses, I assume something I wrote there triggered it.

But the blog was finally freed again, which is all that matters!

When I say that I want to resolve things in hardmode, I mean that I do want to go all the way to Moon Lord!

Moon Lord represents the "inciting event" of every part of the story -- it's why the Wall of Flesh was made, why the Dryads are gone, why the present world is built in the bones of former civilizations, why the dungeon was created, and why the Lunatic Cultist is the way they are.

The hardmode portions of the story will likely be shorter as hardmode has a much more strict time pressure (what with the Lunatic Cult moving towards the return of Moon Lord) and a lot of feelings are coming to light all at once under that new stress. I also won't be fully illustrating every single boss fight, just focusing on resolving what was built up in prehardmode. But Moon Lord, the cult, etc. are so deeply tied into everything going on that I feel they need to be faced in order to resolve certain plot threads, and so they'll be in the comic.

Most of the pre-hardmode NPCs live in the various settlements in the region according to their preferred biome in-game; those who prefer the hallow or caverns are set up in/around Purity Town proper.

As far as what NPCs are actually present currently -- I'm generally hand-waving pre-hardmode NPCs arriving in town. Most lived there prior to Chris coming to town or trickle in in the background over the course of the story; for non-plot-relevant NPCs, the difference doesn't matter much and won't be highlighted, but you may see more NPCs showing up as the story progresses.

NPCs that you have to "save" (ex. Golfer, Stylist) live in the region currently; Chris may just have to rescue them at some point. The Goblin Tinkerer and Witch Doctor aren't currently present in town due to their respective events/bosses not having been defeated. And the Clothier and Mechanic are "missing" currently.

I wrote it with the intent of referencing the Skeleton Merchant and the inhabitants of the dungeon -- specifically, the idea of someone who has technically died, but remains animated as a skeleton. This is distinct from the Clothier, who is still alive -- but yeah, technically he is cursed and it involves a skeleton, so that tracks!

Red has said a lot of things, haha; I won't judge you for picking and choosing as you see fit. Fun connection to tie the NPCs together!

That last ask had me wondering about their sexual experience, if that is ok?

Sure! To be honest, I haven't really thought too much about it outside of plot points. So here is a quick overview. (I'm realizing now few ROs have experience in the cast...)

Merikh- He only had one real relationship that progressed to that point, and it made him not trust anyone enough to experience that kind of physical and emotional intimacy. So he's been out of action for years.

Laverna- Absolutely none. Not only would her family make sure that didn't happen, but Laverna hasn't really met anyone she'd be able to risk it for. She has read some saucy books, which she counts as experience though, haha!

Aretas- None, despite the nobles in the court practically throwing their daughters and even themselves at them. He's never experienced even being that interested in anyone, let alone gotten physical.

Sarai- I mean, Aretas's existence is kind of a giveaway, but she had no lovers after the death of Emperor Avith, so she's years out of the game.

Sutek- None. He doesn't want to sleep with his fellow guild members, and he finds it hard to believe that people are attracted to him and not just trying to get on his good side out of fear of the guild.

Desma- A substantial amount. She has a couple of people that she has a friendly, but physical relationship with, but if you ask her if she's ever taken a lover, she would say no. Several people count her as their horrible ex. She hits and runs.

Heka- Absolutely none. He's grown up in a secluded mountain temple, and although he's been flirted with, he's never realized it.

Nari- She has none, but growing up around soldiers means that she's not as sheltered as other young noble women her age would be. She hasn't had anyone express that type of interest in her and she wouldn't take them up on it if they had, because of her rank and title.

Okay guys, I'm back and.. I needed a short break after what happened in the MWIII campaign. Words can't express how shocked I was when I reached the end of the campaign and.. it left me in confusion, denial, depression and anger.

I'm putting a "read more" below because, if there are people who still haven't played MWIII, I'll keep ya guys safe.

Our theories before were constantly revolving that who's gonna die and what worse is going to happen.. it first pointed towards the fate of Price or Gaz. But, turns out we were jinxed. JINXED.

The campaign was.. okay but at the same time I felt it was small. Quite rushed. I did have a light of concern over their release date when MWII was currently trending. I was reading others reviews of how they felt about the game and yes, I agree with the same. But I wanna talk about Soap's fate this time..

Soap, who JUST started his journey, like, the one who only appeared in MWII and hoped we would see him more develop in the further games to be just.. killed off? When were they moments away from achieving victory?

So only because it's called MW3 ✌🏻 and you wanted to give us all a nostalgic experience you'll.. give them the original plot treatment? Both Soaps in the Modern Warfare universes.. died under the hands of Vladimir Makarov but in different circumstances.

This is where I got a bit angry at Price because, why didn't you kill Makarov instead of taking him in custody in Verdansk?! That guy is a walking grim reaper, and if Price took that action before, not just Soap but MANY more lives would have been saved. Soap was a man who was ready to take immediate action but always got backed off because of being bound to orders.

The end scene when they took out his ashes.. it broke me. Like, how unexpected this can be? Well, though I know Makarov already gave a warning that he was going to kill him off in the heli scene, but.. it's just not it? Like, honestly, I was hopeful Soap would survive.. it's disappointing for me, as someone who loves him so much, like anything.

So ScarSoap's now an angsty ship? Because let it be for both universes — OG and Reboot, Scarlet's going to be left behind? Welp, I'm more sad now, lol.

Otherwise, the expectations I had for the campaign were somehow, not met to the fullest but let's talk about the good things.

Price killing off Shepherd. YES, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I freaking knew that he was going to die and my prediction called itself right. But, now that Price killed a 4-star General, he's gonna go rogue. You mean, batshit, crazy and unhinged Price on the move?!

Julian Kostov. The man. Bro, like, when he was featured in the reveal trailer, I was just hoping that he'd play the role of Makarov well and guess what? He did! I absolutely loved how he portrayed the man and he looked intimidating and twisted like a true psychopath. Truly, he could compete with the OG!Makarov and it's proven! Hats off to the actor, really <3

Price DOESN'T die. Neither in my beliefs, Farah and Alex. A relief. A pure relief, for real. The trailers showed him passing out but glad he's good in one piece. But, did that happen for the cost of killing Soap? :')

Graves and Shepherd betray each other in the conference, LMFAO! Who knew they were going to turn their backs on each other. Graves really had nothing to do with this, he was just a man following orders.. the problem lies with Shepherd, and always has.

Now, these guys said we're gonna release the "full campaign" on November 10. You mean.. the early access didn't show much of the story? So there's hope? OR NOT? Sigh, I don't want to think about it.. I just don't. I've been delulu, haha

hi shui, im a big fan of your writing, artwork and other posts on here! i was wondering if you had a theory on why in 'Second Skeleton' when brad and anna are talking, he says "I haven't felt like this in a long time. Since Kate"? within the direct context of the conversation, it sounds like he means it as a response to the "rush" he gets when working with true artists, saying he's "met the right person", presumably dana, but i'm a bit confused by this because tbh it doesn't seem like to me that brad and dana really have that much of a connection? they haven't even really had any meaningful one-on-one conversations at this point (or ever) - mainly its just jo+dana+brad talking about cozy galaxy stuff. i figured the "rush" and "met the right person" were just the same type of bragging-about-how-good-my-life-is-to-my-competitive-ex stuff he and anna had already been engaging in, but then he mentions kate (and is actually honest to anna about who she was), which makes me think he was being honest about that sentiment, though i don't fully understand why he would feel that way at this point? what about where he's currently at in terms of work / life / relationships could possibly be comparable to the innocent childish happiness he presumably felt before kate's death and his subsequent trauma?

to me, the "rush" hes talking about is the feeling of being exposed, since he said it specifically after anna told him, "you were naked but now, you're exposed." — i dont think its necessarily in relation to working with a creative, but letting himself be vulnerable in a way he hadnt been before .

we havent seen any of dana and brads actual in-depth interactions which is one of the qualms ive had with s4 . why introduce a very interesting dynamic that influences both the characters greatly if youre not going to use it to the fullest ? but their impact on one another is definitely there, and it makes me sad that they didnt explore that much this season because it could be something very interesting . but the effects are there; brad being more open with his feelings, something he criticizes dana for, and dana being more evil, something she wouldve criticized brad for in earlier seasons

i think what makes this "rush" comparable to kate is having a vulnerable point, something to protect; and he places that feeling in dana a little bit as a way to project his vulnerability onto something more tangible, when in reality its more of the concept of having a weak spot now . dana is a weak spot, but its much deeper than that

the theme for brad this season is him hunting himself: trying to target his own vulnerabilities, forcing himself into a corner again and again . thats the rush . him attaching himself to kate, making himself vulnerable and getting hurt — that is also him hunting himself . so what hes doing this season is exactly that . its just kate all over again

ive never really viewed kate as a character or a thing, but more as a ... concept ? i guess ? a plot device . something that lingers in the back of brads mind, haunting his narrative . so its not "dana = kate", its "his current situation with attaching a vulnerable target to himself = his previous situation with attaching a vulnerable target to himself"

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

I don't mind it when I encounter it, but prefer that the author includes a translation if it's not something that can be easily understood through context. I can't remember if I've done much of it, tbh.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. Experiencing the three year summer was very special at the time, and even though JKR's decision to become a terrible person has since soured the whole thing, I will remain grateful to the fans that made that time period in my life so unique.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Probably a toss up between Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Sunrise. The former because I'm just so proud of beating that monster of a story into submission, and the latter because it was inspired by @emynithilien's wonderful story: To Play it With You and I really enjoyed playing in the AU she created.

soooo.. i haven't actually watched the ep yet (or last week's) i've just been absorbing the happenings through dash osmosis..

but, it truly is a wildly insane choice to make not just for bobby's character but for those who love him, especially athena and buck.

it just feels like an unnecessary dead end (forgive me) in terms of plot and how it affects the storylines of everyone, just more lazy writing from a man who has fumbled and broken the narrative too many times already this season, someone who hasn't learned from every piece of media that killed off beloved and central characters for shock-value or as some ill-concieved plot device to try and prompt other characters into "growth" (and dramatic grief) as though that's the only way for the plot to progress.

it must be said: killing off characters is the LAZIEST and lbr rudest way to get rid of a character. and killing off a beloved main character for no other reason than shock value??? it just speaks to tim's inability to actually write for these complex characters that fans care about; he doesn't have the imagination to continue exploring bobby's timeline, like he really thought: might as well kill him off and let the others deal with that, that'll give us some tasty angst haha. like, seriously???

i direct you to Supernatural, wherein over and over the writers chose to ignore sense and fans and continuity and chose death and grief and hurt, over winning the good fight and hope and comfort - which is what the show had come to mean to fans. but 9-1-1 has always been brighter than spn, more hopeful and more respectful of the ensemble cast's storylines and found family elements - and then season fucking 8 happened:

the angsty potential of gerrard and ortiz was wasted. eddie's storyline has been a mess for a season and a half. karen and maddie have been all but relegated to housewifemother roles plus a superfluous violent event in leiu of character-studies and interwoven b-storylines. the fucking brad self-flaggelation hogging screentime and ruining plot potential. the mess of bucktommy's relationship (some good stuff, but the inclusions of fucking abb*y and b*ddie and now bobby's death is tainting their timeline and isn't allowing them to stand on their own as an already narratively rich lovestory). the overall lack of overlapping stories for the ensemble cast, the ooc character choices (espcially dialogue) for 90% of them, the wasted plot potential for everyone in most of the eps, i just—

i'm sure there's more but i've skipped so many episodes this season bc of all these fuckass reasons..

it truly baffles me that tim got this longer season at a new more inclusive network and yet every other episode it's like he's driving the show off a fucking cliff and thinking it's fun to fly - not thinking about the impact and what it will do to the fanbase riding along with him.

but yes, at least we finally FINALLY got tommy being a hot af competent loyal hero pilot.

Hello! Sorry it took me so long to answer!! Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't seen the whole show.

Let me approach this a different way... We know the running joke about Tsubaki, that after the Masamune arc she gets no character development. Her lines are just screaming Black Star's name, and that's about it for her.

That's how it feels for Soul after Crona shows up. Except with him it's just...silent brooding and watching his meister put all her focus onto someone else. The meister/weapon relationship that seems like it's kinda supposed to be the whole point of the show...? We don't get much of that for Soul and Maka anymore until the finale. And then it feels just kinda...forced in at the last moment, since we haven't gotten much of that.

He's not the only one whose arc gets skewed, and a good lot of that is due to the anime ending so abruptly and not getting to tell a fuller story. It needed at least ten more episodes in my opinion, whether it followed the manga or not... It just ended too fast.

But Soul specifically got supplanted by Crona, and it makes no sense to me. To have his relationship with Maka just...set aside entirely. Or rather, the issue is that they tried to pretend it wasn't. They tried to pretend all was well, and then bring it back at the very end as if things have been fine the entire time. But no.....no they haven't been.

For some idk like fifteen episodes or so? The only glimpses of Soul are him brooding, pining, trying to be himself toward Maka, being a good friend and weapon, but Maka only has eyes for Crona. Even at their apartment her only thoughts are for Crona, even telling Soul to leave her alone one time. She puts this wall between them and doesn't even know she's doing it, and Soul... His devotion to her never changes.

And... He never gets resolution with Crona for himself. So Maka just...forgave Crona I guess for almost killing Soul? Remember that huge giant plot point that started back in episode 7? That started the entire black blood thing? We never see or hear them talk about it but I guess Maka just....let it go, after purifying Crona? Which makes NO sense but okay I guess. But what about Soul... So since Maka decided to forget about Crona almost killing him, Soul is supposed to just forget too? Since his meister has decided to obsess over this poor mixed up kid who desperately needs professional help NOT a friendship that's doomed to unhealthiness due to the kid's issues, and Soul's supposed to just...be cool with it?

I was really glad that Kid brought it up that one time at the courts, even if it was just for a moment. At least somebody remembered what Soul went through. But it should have been his meister.

So yeah it's just...messed up. In summary.... Soul gets ignored second half of the show till a last-minute dramatic thing in the finale, but it feels out of place since Maka has ignored him for who knows how many episodes except to tell him to leave her alone. Soul has remained devoted and loyal. Soul's devotion to her has him repeatedly use the black blood for the sake of all of them, risking himself. And Maka just forgot I guess about her "new project" or whatever almost killing her weapon. And Soul just gotta deal with....all of that. Deal with what looks like the slow losing of his meister.

Yeah. That's what I meant by Soul being diminished... Everything about him was just kinda forgotten except what he could do for the rest of them.

Gonna take a left-turn here and compare Maka to her father again... Wonder if this is what Stein felt like watching his weapon go off with someone else, slowly losing him to some new, interesting person for whatever reason...

Yeah Maka, your weapon deserved better from you.

All that said? Oh I still ship it. I can be annoyed as heck with canon and still use it, lol.
