Sweetie Belle was bullied for having ugly markings and for being fat during her school years. At 16/17 she was picked up by a well known, wayyy older than her modelling agent she met through Rarity. The agent claiming that Sweetie's markings were "for sure a mark (haha) of a famous upcoming model and a great career!" Loving this validation of one of her biggest insecurities Sweetie enters an abusive boss/worker relationship, later turned a romantic relationship, with said agent. Becoming an actress/model/singer and a naive little puppet to be mistreated and used by her agent for most of her early adulthood.

She hits her breaking point and leaves - around the same time Apple Bloom returns to Sweet Apple Acres for the first time in years - making media waves with a publishing of her autobiography that details her life and the abuse she suffered. She surfs the waves of limelight for a few years before deciding to become a music teacher in the very place she grew up in, Ponyville. Now she lives a fairly quiet life, reunited with her besties.

My idea right now is that she's in a polyship with Scootaloo, Spur & Rainbow Harmony later in life. But that's up for change. I'm also not very happy with her mane in this drawing :T I wanted to reference Nightmare Rarity with Sweeties design, not sure how I feel about it.

Apple Bloom was babied to hell and back by her family, mainly Applejack. Very much overbearing helicopter parent type childhood (Applejack worries too much). She developed an interesting set of issues from this. She feels simultaneously completely lost/directionless in life and inferior to everyone (specifically intelligence wise) AND also the pressure of a thousand ancestors on her shoulders, constantly whispering in her ear about how she needs to take control and be as good, if not better, than what everyone around her expects her to be. Sooooo.. she has to be the best of the best but also has no clue where to start and huge anxiety issues about starting things and about asking for help. Lovely \(^^')/

I'm also toying with giving her some paranoia problems, but I'm still on the fence about that.

In her early adulthood, after the CMC fell apart, she starts job hopping and traveling around. Trying everything she can get her hooves on. Not being perfect at things as fast as she wants to be and subsequently quitting. Never earning her cutie mark ("Crusaders of the Lost Mark" never happens in Novaverse). Always returning home every weekend. Until she doesn't. She starts distancing herself from her family bit by bit after realizing how toxic the environment is for her. Finally ending with her going no/low contact. Applejack is absolutely devastated by this. After a few years of learning to live and learn for herself and coming to terms with the fact that she isn't - and will never be - perfect, she returns to Sweet Apple Acres. her decision comes from something bad happening (not sure what yet, prolly Granny Smith's death but we shall see). Finding the entirety of Sweet Apple Acres barely surviving, Apple Bloom finally decides to reach out to her old friends for help to get Sweet Apple Acres back onto it's hooves. Finally earning her cutie mark in the process. This also kick-starts Applejacks self improvement arc.

I'm still not super pumped about the markings i've given her in this sketch, I feel like they're a bit too saturated in parts.

And finally, Scootaloo, who I honestly have absolutely no idea what to do with-

Important note before I start rambling: Scootaloo is a transman in Novaverse and goes by he/him, so those are the pronouns I will be using in the paragraphs following.

Starting off, I absolutely despise how his parents are introduced and characterized in the show. How they managed to make his aunties the sweetest of the sweet but rush his parents out the door so horribly? I'll never know. But I sure as hell am mad about it and will rewrite them >:T So his aunties stay the exact same for Novaverse...however his parentsssss... well-

The current idea is that his mom is sort of like a more extroverted Daring Do type adventurer. Instead of being """the hero""" tho, she's just a botanist who is very excited about her work and sharing her research. She's definitely a mom who didn't want to be a mom and so has turned to ignoring her problems - Scootaloo - and diving head first into her work, dumping her problems on her sister.

Scootaloo's father I have less ideas for. I know for sure I want him to be Māori and also the stern, loving fatherfigure for most younger than him type (think Massimo Marcovaldo from Luca). But that's literally it? The two probably met while Scoot's mom was on one of her work trips but how he is with Scoots, if he's involved or not, if he even knows his son exists - no idea.

The reason I'm rambling off about his parents, is because with Scoots specifically, I imagine he wishes to be like what he imagines his parents to be like. In his head, he most likely imagines his mom as a rebel researcher. Researching things she's not supposed to and publishing findings she's told not to. Being super duper totally punk!! All of this being the complete opposite of who his mother actually is of course. In contrast, his daydream of his father is probably very close to what his father is actually like.

Scoots has a huge rebellious phase when the CMC separate. He's the youngest of the group and takes it the hardest. Rainbow Dash, his second mother, being too absorbed into making her newborn daughter a mini-her, to offer any form of support to Scoots, which also fucks with him a lot. Becoming a complete forest fire of a character for a while. He struggles with becoming attached too quickly to strangers and with keeping relationships - both romantic and platonic. Once the CMC reunite later on in life, he has the hardest time trusting them again and letting them back into his heart.

I definitely need to do more research for + clean up Scootaloo's design a lot. I am however very happy with the general direction of the current concept.

Dizzy is an adorable name omg ! Out of all the alternate names people have come up with for her, I defo like Bubbles the most. Probably because i just like bubbles in general lol They're so fun :3

Right so my headcanons are constantly evolving but what I'm currently thinking is thaaaaat...Bubbles is a physically and mentally disabled mailpony who grew up with a very loving single mom. Because of her nr1 bestest mom ever she never really felt down about her disabilities. Ofc she had her insecure moments but she bounced back very quick. And as she grew up she just became more sure of herself and confident. Bubbles believes that she can do anything she puts her mind to (even if she does it clumsily).

Due to circumstances I haven't fully thought up yet, in her mid 20s Bubbles (full name Bubbles Muffins) ends up adopting 2 of her cousins, Dinky age 16 and Bubbles (named after our fav clumsy horse and also known as Milo) age 14. Together they become a tiny little family. I haven't yet figured out where they live but defo not Ponyville. Might make up my own pony town actually.

Dinky is an aroace enby (they/she) cryptozoologist. They go by Unknown-Bloody-Proxy online and run a blog filled with local cryptid sightings and opinion posts on their favorite anime episodes. She's also diabetic and roserepulsed and the only person she feels comfy being close to is her younger sibling Bubs. I also hc that they're voiced by Lindsay (Stephanie Anne Mills) from the Total Drama series C:

Milo is a sporty agent of chaos. ADHD ponified. He's a demiboy and still questioning his orientation. He's the one holding the flashlight when Dinky invites him to explore an abandoned building. Even tho he has his cutie mark he doesn't quite understand what his special talent is. It's just bubbles? What does that even mean? His hc voice is Impa (Andi Gibson) from Hyrule Warriors.

In her 30s Bubbles ends up having to substitute another mailpony and on her newly assigned mail route she ends up meeting Kevin (stage name Feather Bangs). By complete accident Bubbles learns that Kev is also disabled. He has severe dyscalculia. Kevin is extremely insecure about his disability and hides it as much as he can. After all Feather Bangs has to be the perfect coltfriend! (he has a lot of internalized issues). Overtime tho Bubbles and him become friends and he starts unlearning his harmful beliefs, he meets Bubbles' cousins/kids and slowly becomes a part of the fam himself. First he's "mom's cool friend", then an uncle and finally sort of a father figure. I wouldn't say him and Bubbles are in a romantic relationship or anything. They're more so just platonic partners. But they care about each other, and their kiddos very deeply. Even getting legally married so Kev would be legally considered a parental figure (Kev also becomes Kevin Muffins during this time). Eventually even choosing to have a biological kiddo.

Smoky Pyre (prolly gonna change the name in the future but it works for now) grows up to be the local jock lesbian disaster. Her fav activities consist of hoofball, fishing and becoming a puddle on the ground when a pretty mare flirts with her. In her teens she's in a toxic yuri situationship with Kyanite (another next gen of mine who identifies with the "mean lesbian" label, I think that speaks for itself lmao). She also got Kev's dyscalculia and the ADHD that runs in Bubbles' family. That's all I really have for her, i haven't focused on her too much.

And if you read this far down then here is an old ass fam tree I did for Bubbles back when I still shipped mostly hetero ships because I thought that was what I was supposed to do :P I am still very proud of the redesigns I did for all the charas even tho I don't like the DepryWhooves ship anymore !

Stinger is actually the reason Flash figured out he's aroace :)

as an aroace who craves companionship in my life, i really appreciate it when aroace charas have actual deep meaningful queer relationships with each other and aren't always shown as the "ew i hate people" stereotype (my fellow repulsed folk are valid asf ofc <3 love ya'll, i just have beef with the stereotype)

~. day 14's prompts: obscure + in love .~

rambles incoming !!

The two met when Lightning was sent to do community service at The Rockfarm after it was found out that the Washouts didn't have any of their safety documentation in order. Not to mention they didn't even have any qualified EMTs on sight when performing stunts. The work was tartarus, the color palette even worse. Celestia damnit.. why couldn't she have just pestered her ex nurse Redheart to at least show up at the latest stunt show… the discomfort of that would've been leagues better than the constant rootrock soup and the odd family she's currently with.

I mean really, c'mon, Lightnings Family is a tad weird sure, everyone's family is, but this is a whole 'nother level. Limestone with her completely irrational anger issues at everything. Maud with the blank stares and… pet… rock?? Cloudy and Igneous acting more like company owners to their family than parents. And Marble. Marble flanking Pie. She literally doesn't speak and never stands up for herself. How does a pony even survive in this world with that kind of an attitude?

But as Lightning continues her community service, the absolutely marbles family starts slowly growing on her. All of their quirks start making more and more sense as the days go by. Apparently they're all autistic? Well that explains a lot. And to be fair, Lightning never really minded any of their differences, she was more so just angry at her own fuckups and took her frustrations out on the family. For which she's extremely sorry. In fact, she's so sorry, she opts to stay an extra month after her community service hours are finished to help out with the upcoming north-east rock turning season. Well.. that's what she says, she actually just feels like she belongs somewhere for the first time in a long time.

And so the extra month turns into months, and the no conversations with Marble turn into occasional sunset watches and early morning tea blabbering sessions with Marble (Lightning is still doing most of the speaking, but still). They bond, albeit slowly, but they do and over time decide that "friendship" really isn't the label for them.
