I love seeing people's characterizations of Nerevar because the fella is so important, but he also functionally isn't a character. He has almost no characterization to speak of. You can pull some tidbits out about how he might of been, but he's basically a plot device--a backstory for all the important people. The only accounts we hear about him are from the most biased and untrustworthy sources in the whole game. So it's so fun to see what people do with those scraps. At this point he's Morrowind fans' collectively owned OC

Based on this request: “Can i request a sad angst with a fluff ending of where the girl is broken and sad and doesnt feel like she deserves love but Brad is just as broken as her but they feel like they have to work it out otherwise they'll be hurt forever pls thank u ily”
I know I probably took a different direction of what you had in mind but I hope you like it, if you want me to write another thing with the same request, just ask babe. This one is a mix of sad songs but created around the concept of the song “Us against the world” by Coldplay, hope you like it!💗💗
Warnings: depression, anxiety, medical conditions
us against the world ; bws⛈💗

The faint sound of the raindrops hitting the window woke up Brad, who tried to open his eyes swiftly but decided to keep them close a little while he got used to the new found light in the room, his hand covering slightly his face while he grunted. He had woken up earlier than usual but still was in a good mood. When he managed to open his eyes completely, he looked beside him, hoping to find his girlfriend sleeping but she wasn’t there. Brad furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his bedside table to check the hour. When he read 7:47 am in his phone screen he wondered where could she be that early.
After a few minutes, he got out of bed and decided to search for his girlfriend. Since the accident, his days consisted of worrying about her, her acting odd and having the feeling that they didn’t know each other anymore. She was a ghost and their relationship was like they were two strangers pretending to be in love. Maybe they were.
His head was already spiraling with anxiety, a million thoughts and doubts appearing, it was the same every single day. Brad had asked her over and over if he had done something wrong, if she was okay, if she needed anything to make her feel better, he tried everything to figure out how to get her to act the way she used to, to get her to remember, remember him, remember everything they went through, remember their love, but he found no answer and it was getting him frustrated, maybe the old y/n was already dead.
Brad found her downstairs sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea in her hands, looking out the window. The peaceful mien that once characterized her wasn’t there, instead, she seemed tense and worried, sad and down. Although that look was common in her now, there was definitely something wrong with her and he needed to know, Brad couldn’t stand knowing she was hurting.
“Good mornin’, love” Brad muttered softly, approaching her. The girl lifted her head when she heard the voice of the man she once loved so much.
“Hi.” She said with a quiet voice then turned her gaze back to the window.
“What are you doing so early? And staring at the rain? You hate the rain” He asked and sit beside her.
“Really? I find it really calming now.” Was all she could say and took a sip of her cup. “Things have really changed, I suppose.”
“Yeah… they have.” Brad whispered. She noticed by the reflection on the window that his eyes had darkened and now they looked sad and disappointed. Y/n couldn’t help but feel a little guilty even though she tried to remind herself that it wasn’t her fault, none of them where to blame.
The silence that fell between them was uncomfortable. There was nothing either of them could say, she had changed and they both knew Brad was having the hardest time admitting it and accepting it. He couldn’t let the old y/n go.
“What do you want for breakfast?” Brad asked, trying to change the subject and making his voice sound cheerful.
“I’m not hungry, honestly” She mumbled mindlessly.
“Well you need to eat, the doctor said you might experience this but please make an effort to…”
“I know what the doctor said, I’m not fucking hungry, Brad. Leave me alone” She snapped at him, interrupting him and rolling her eyes.
The way she spoke broke his heart for the millionth time, he was getting used to it and feared that someday it would be too late to pick up the pieces of it and put them back together.
The first months after the accident were the worst, she could remember almost everyone in her life except for Brad and that crushed him. Knowing that the woman he loved, the love of his love didn’t know him anymore was devastating, even more when she didn’t even try to get to know him again. She just pushed him away and locked herself in her world, but Brad couldn’t blame her, it had always been like that, she was broken since the first day he met her.
So he stood up and walked to the kitchen, trying to ignore the tears that were already forming in his eyes. You need to be patient, he reminded himself while taking a big breath, but it was harder with each day that passed and maybe it was time to accept the fact that she wasn’t coming back. The woman in the living room wasn’t the one he used to know, she was just a stranger, a ghost. But a stranger he loved nevertheless.
As the months passed, Brad became a ghost too. They didn’t even know why they were still together, maybe their relationship was just an habit too hard to let go. They were too good at pretending they were the same loving couple as always, the holding hands, an occasional kiss on the cheek or the forehead, the small hug every once in a while… it was enough to make other people believe they were still happy. Nobody really cared to analyze that their eyes told a completely different story.
At James’ and Kirstie’s engagement party though, the truth came out. There was no more hiding, no more pretending.
“You look like her but you’re not the woman l loved. I can’t even stand to look at you!” Brad said, his voice coming out louder than he expected to. He had been suffering in silence from quite a long time now, pain was evident in his eyes.
“I’m sorry I’m not what you want anymore, Brad. That woman died the day of the accident and as much as you wish it, she won’t be coming back” She replied, her eyes darker than usual, her voice breaking every once in a while.
“I know that!” He said and his hands reached for his hair, something he did every time he was frustrated or stressed, she had re-learned it.
“Then why are we even still together? You can’t look at me, you always avoid me, no matter how much I try you don’t love me like you used to” She cried, tears streaming down her face. “And you know what? I get it, I don’t deserve to be loved, I’m fucking broken and it’s not your job to fix me or love me.” And with that she turned on her heels and walked inside the house, trying to avoid the curious stares and the whispers around her.
Y/n knew it was her fault that they were screaming at each other in the backyard of their friends’ house, she started the argument when she asked Brad what happened to them, when she asked why they weren’t happy anymore. She should’ve known better, it was her that pushed him away every time he tried to get close, Brad just wanted her girlfriend back.
Brad was shocked, he didn’t even knew she was trying that much to be his again, he didn’t knew she wanted him to try again because this time she’d listen. And it was like suddenly all the words in the universe didn’t exist anymore because he couldn’t articulate any of them, so he stood there and watched her get inside the house. He felt guilty because he knew that her anxiety made her overthink everything and her depression never let her show her true self, or see her true potential, and for that she was guarded after the accident.
A few minutes later, when he had calmed down he went in and looked for her. Brad found y/n drinking in the kitchen, a drunk man beside her trying to make her laugh but she just looked uncomfortable.
“You okay?” Brad asked softly, carefully eyeing her up and down and then turning to give the guy a death glare.
“Do you even care?” She scoffed and sipped from her drink.
“Of course I care.” He burrowed his brows.
“I’m fine. Now leave me alone.” She turned her back on him and gave the man from before an annoyed look when her eyes found his.
“Wanna go outside, gorgeous?” The man asked with a smirk, looking at Brad as if he was challenging him.
“Don’t talk to her, asshole” Brad said before she could even answer.
“Go away, mate. She doesn’t want you” The guy replied.
Y/n sighed and rolled her eyes, walking outside the kitchen and into the living room where most of the people were obviously drunk, leaving the two men in the kitchen to a staring contest.
Her eyes found Tris’, who was looking at her with pity, he had heard the discussion in the backyard and his glare only made her feel ashamed. Tris didn’t have time to get closer and talk to her because Brad appeared by her side shortly after and called her attention by touching her arm.
“Listen to me, I won’t give up on us. Please, let’s talk about this” His eyes pleaded, his voice like a whisper but loud enough for her to hear. Brad’s eyes were red and puffy, his hair was no longer perfectly styled.
“There’s nothing to talk about. You don’t love me, you love the woman I was and she’s not here anymore, there’s no point in being together or even talking.” She answered, trying to calm herself and not let the tears roll down.
“That’s not true. I do love you, please come with me. Please.”
She couldn’t say no to those sad puppy eyes and followed him upstairs and into a room. The accident might had erased him from her memory but that didn’t stopped her from falling in love with him again. It was impossible not to, he was always so caring and patient. He always made sure she was eating well, that she was taking her meds, he tried to made her laugh anytime he could, specially when she was sobbing in his arms even though he wanted to cry too. Brad had done everything in his power to make her happy but there was still one thing missing: all of her past memories.
She wasted no time talking as soon as they entered the room, she just wanted the night to be over so she could go home and feel miserable in the comfort of her bed.
“What do you-”
“Stop” Brad interrupted her. “Let me talk first.”
He sighed and looked down, trying to find the courage to tell her the truth, even though it might hurt her.
“All these months I tried to be patient with you, I tried to help you remember and when you couldn’t, I tried to make you love me again but all you did was push me away every time I was getting close and it fucking hurt. So I gave up and tried to grieved you because I lost you the day of the accident but even that didn’t work because I still love you, even this sad version of yourself, I fucking love you.”
The look that Brad gave her made her understand everything, he showed her not any kind of pain, it was heart wrenching and that’s when she noticed that Brad wasn’t fine at all. The dark circles in his eyes told a million stories and his sad eyes another million more.
“But you said-”
“I know what I said, what part of I still love this new version of you you didn’t hear?” Brad sighed.
“Why?” She whispered.
“I don’t know, I just do. So please don’t ever say that you don’t deserve to be loved, because you deserve everything good in this world. You’re not alone in this, I’m probably as broken as you are right now. I’m sorry you had to go through losing you memory and I’m sorry about the pain it caused you.” He paused and looked at her. Now she was the one that couldn’t look at him in the eye, it was too painful.
When she felt Brad’s warm embrace she couldn’t help but sob and decided to let herself be vulnerable again with the man she loved. Y/n took in Brad’s manly essence and hugged him even tighter.
“Let me in, please. I promise it’ll be worth it” Brad whispered in her ear.
“I’m so sorry for hurting you. I don’t deserve you” She cried.
“Shh, don’t say that. I love you and I want you to love yourself as much as I do. We need to work on both of us as individuals and on our relationship, I don’t want us to be hurting anymore. We’re in this together, we’re a team, it’s us against the world forever.”
He kissed her forehead repeatedly and continued whispering sweet nothings until she calmed down, not even for one second letting her go or loosening his grip. She found it amazing how such a simple thing as holding her -with such care, by the way- could make her feel so in peace with herself, so powerful and motived to be better.
“Can you forgive me and give me another chance?” She asked in a whisper, looking up to find Brad’s eyes that stared at her adoringly, shining as bright as the moon.
“Always, my love. Always.”
Maybe there was still hope for them.

No but actually wrt that silence, plebs vibes Andy I find it fascinating how Nicky is always the one to "fight back" against Andy and win. Like, consistently throughout the movie, he is the one that rails against Andy (and Booker's) cynicism and wins. I love that for him. Joe does it too but he backs down more easily, and I think it's consistent with the idea that, although Joe is fairly optimistic, he's the realist between him and Nicky. Nicky is the optimist of the group. Andy and Booker are just jaded lmao
yeah! like in the train scene when they get the dreams, and joes like ‘we gotta find her!’ but its actually nicky who convinces the others to go along with the idea. i think that rlly fits with their characterization in ttt, joe is proactive and nicky is reactive, joe is very action oriented and nicky more emotionally based (which isnt to say that joe doesnt get emotions or nicky cant take initiative, of course). the more i think about that scene, the more i think about how good of an argument nicky poses (and they all know he’ll win the fight before it starts! nicky says ‘not like her booker’ and booker goes ‘nicky...’ and you can just tell book already knew he’d lost the argument, lmao)
but nicky’s argument is, essentially ‘we need to go to her because shes afraid and alone’ and he then, rather explicitly, reminds them that theyve all been in nile’s shoes before with ‘we all remember what it was like’.
which like... they do. the ‘new immortal existentialism’ is one of the few experiences that the whole guard shares, and nicky utilized the hell out of that fact. none of them can possibly argue with that-- they all do remember what it was like, and none of them can deny that finding the other members of the guard was the only thing that comforted them when they were in that state. none of them can deny the fact that they need each other, therefore none of them can argue with nicky when he says ‘she needs us’. they coulda sat there in that train car and argued about what to do with nile for hours but nicky ended the whole conversation in what? twenty seconds? his power, etc etc.
(thats part of why i kind of have this.. pet peeve, i guess about nicky being portrayed as shy or socially awkward (tho i get where that comes from bc.. [gestures at luca’s everything]) but nicky is actually very.. communicative? i guess? i dont want to say charismatic bc thats not it, hes just very emotionally aware and good with words, and you see him use those skills to win arguments with his friends as well as comfort them as well as unnerve Bad Guys. i mean he heckles three(3) of the movie’s antagonists and each time said antagonist walks away from the conversation unnerved and silent. hes... convincing, i suppose. i bet he made a very good priest, lmao)

Quick opinions about ml because every time i catch my sisters watching it i want to go a little feral.
We can all agree that marinette fully stalking adrien is a little wierd given our society's context. But we like to forget that its fully normal to stalk celebrities and your crushes in this show. One example is max helping kim find chloe through some very freaky tracking of her movement. Sure in our world its very wrong to stalk anyone but it seems that marinette not that weird in her world.
Adriens actions as chat noir will never be okay and we also never see anyone else act like he does despite activley encouraging him so we do know that if anyone thought hard enough about it they would probably agree with ladybug on he needs to stop. But everyone in this show is an enabler and while marinette doesnt have anyone telling her to stop (or telling anyone else for that matter) adrien doesnt know that no is a thing he should listen to since hes been sheltered.
I still hate this ship because it is very toxic for both of them but i can at least understand why it would work and why people want it to work. Which is why im giving reasons why i dont want it to work.
Also, when plagg says the equivalent of "test out the other fish in the sea" to adrien i cant truly find that bad. In his own wierd way he wants adrien to move on and everyone knows that adrien would never except an outright give up on her as a response. So while plag said it in one of the worst ways possible it isnt a bad message hes trying to get across. Unfortunately it ends up with "hurt" kagami so he could have been more specific.
Adrien is undoubtably my least favorite character in this show. His actions as chat reflect a lot of things that really make me want to murder him barehanded. Its worse that hes probably one of the two consistent characters we get, as he is the same dude no matter what. Even marrinette has some mischaracterizations many times in the show. But the fact that adrien and lila (i know right) are the only two actually consistent characters, and they are both characterized in some very toxic ways, says something to me.
Surprisingly, i love lila and her character. I wish they would use her more. Why? Cause shes consistent. Shes a villain and i love to hate her. Why would I hate adrien cause hes also consistent? Because hes supposed to be a hero and yet he acts like a slimy groomer as chat.
Ive started getting off topic wirh my opinions so i'll stop here.

so.. I’m just gonna throw this out there.. just gonna put it into the atmosphere..
I think Doll is Canopus and I think she might be the one who went to the town house with polaris and shot Soma 👉👈
HERES WHY !!
1) Soma’s behavior is weird if he’s talking to “Ciel”  it’s far too polite and not how he usually acts with him
here’s how soma is with ciel:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this way of greeting him is very consistent. now compare it whatever the heck this was
Tumblr media
his behavior is just.. SUPER weird. it’s like he’s talking to a friendly acquaintance rather than his BFF. you can say yana wanted to make it vague for the 2ct reveal.. but she could have done that without making Soma super OOC LOOL. we didn’t see the shooters face, he didn’t have to say his name, just make him act like he usually does.. what I really love about yana’s writing is how she treats her characters.. her characterization. she’s REALLY good at writing realistic, complex characters... so to make Soma really weird for a moment for the big reveal is just.. no. It’s just no. LOOL.
Yana’s way too good of a writer, esp with characterization, to do this. Just no. LMAO. No. There are plenty of ways to not reveal the killer, build up 2ct, and still keep Soma in character SHUD. I’m not gonna accept that he was talking to “Ciel” until the manga forces me to.
MOVING ON..
2) Choice of words Soma uses
So.. not only does Soma ACT weird.. what he SAYS is weird LMAO. and no, I’m not talking about “Oh it’s you” instead of saying Ciel’s name. Even if we ignore the vagueness and his weird behavior.. his dialogue.. the words Yana deliberately chooses.. is 100% not consistent with his character if he’s talking to “Ciel”.
Tumblr media
Soma forced Ciel to stay in bed and rest when he noticed he wasn’t feeling well. he knows he has asthma that could be triggered from the cold and the rain. he constantly worries for ciel and wants him to be well and healthy..
Tumblr media
there’s just no way he’d be calm if he thought ciel could potentially have a fever... no way in hell LMAO.
Tumblr media
There’s hardly a hint of any concern on the left pic. It’s minimal. Soma should've been up in arms over it if it was Ciel. He straight up Cannot be talking to “Ciel”. He just can’t. NO. D<
NEXT....
3) The conversation with Sully and Wolf is weird af
Tumblr media
So... they mention the name of Agni’s supposed killer and Soma makes no reaction to it? they tell him Agni was already dead by the time Ciel and Sebastian got there. He doesn’t think that’s weird they’d say that? Doesn’t feel the need to yell at them and correct them that he wasn’t already dead— they killed him?? no??? doesnt he think its odd that the murderers— his friend— just shot him, killed agni, and then.. took him to get his injuries healed?? like, thats FKING WEIRD RIGHT? LMAOOO THAT LITERALLY MAKES NO SENSE.
also, lets ignore the fact that he’s willing and ready to murder someone he wanted to wholly support and befriend with all his heart... LIKE OBVIOUSLY IF HE SAW OCIEL KILL AGNI AND SHOOT HIM HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE PISSED AND UPSET.. OBVIOUSLY. but its a little weird to not even be.. confused by the random ass violent attack from someone you’re close to?? Betrayed? Suspended in disbelief? he was obviously upset by Agni’s death, crying out “why did agni have to die” because agni was such a good wholesome person, like what kind of world would kill him like that... but he mentions nothing about why or how someone he’s close to, his friend, would do that.
I mean, Soma understands O!C SO WELL LIKE... YEAH SURE, IF HE SAW HIS FACE LIKE THERES NO WAY TO JUST DENY WHATS RIGHT BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES.. but like idk, i mean, he was giving a speech 20 seconds prior about how o!c is afraid to be loved.. i feel like he would know that o!c wouldnt do that. Or at the very least, would question it more.
Tumblr media
but then again it could just be like.. stages of grief. anyway, there’s THIS WHOLE PAGE
Tumblr media
“you saw who attacked you?”
“yes. that is one face I would never mistake for another”
...LIKE WE SEE HOW AWKWARD THE FLOW OF THIS CONVO IS IF SOMA THINKS O!CIEL KILLED HIM RIGHT?? They mentioned Ciel’s name, told him Agni was dead by the time [Ciel and Sebastian] found him... then ask him if he saw the killer... and he responds with “yes. i saw all right. i saw as clear as day” as if they weren’t just talking about o!ciel, the killer. like.. either he is ignoring everything they’re fking saying (which he’s clearly not) OR he does not think the killer is O!C.
OR It’s possible that he knows about R!C at this point and thinks he’s the killer instead thanks to the the picture Agni gave him. however, it still doesn’t explain the first two points :// which brings me to my next point...
4) Agni’s weird reaction to the picture
yeah, we all know how fking weird his face is over seeing that there’s two ciels
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it could be just to hold the suspense of the big reveal, but there was literally no reason to make him look so terrified LOOL. he could be SHOCKED and still keep the tension, but that face is HORRIFIED LMAOO. its confusing and weird.
also, this is a piece he found that ciel chucked into the fireplace
Tumblr media
it’s part of the same photo Pitt took when ciel snatched it away
Tumblr media
and in the flashback, he took a pic of the twins... but it is NOT the same photo as the one above
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ciel is wearing different clothes.. there’s an adult behind him (probably vincent) which makes sense because it was a family portrait. In the flashback, Pitt only took a picture of the twins. it’s very clear the picture Agni saw is not the one we saw in the flashback.
Tumblr media
So.. the question is.. WHY would Yana make them different pictures if we’re supposed to believe Agni’s reaction was about the twin?? Wouldn’t it make sense to CONFIRM that his reaction was about 2ct since R!Ciel’s existence was known at the time of the flashback?? Why do we still need to see the photo Agni saw if it was just meant as ambiance for real ciel’s appearance??
Of course it could still be the twin since they’re most likely both in the family photo.. but it still doesn’t make sense to make the pictures different. It’s as if there is a reason for it. Like he could’ve saw something else. 🤔🤔
Yana obviously wants us to believe that Agni saw rCiel, but the fact that they’re different photos is worth questioning it because if he really did see rCiel then it should and could have been confirmed in the flashback with the photo, making it undoubtedly clear what he was reacting to. Instead, we get a photo that looks similar to it. To only make us think they’re the same. It’s as if it’s a red herring, and if Agni’s reaction was not about RC, then it makes some sense to also doubt that he was the shooter since it’s connected.
SO THOSE ARE PRETTY MUCH MY MAIN REASONS WHY I DONT THINK IT WAS REAL!CIEL.. but if it wasn’t real!Ciel then who was it??
WELL! Like I said, I think it was Doll and I think she’s Canopus but I’ll be honest, I don’t have any solid reasons for it. It’s just the next best thing I could come up with. Here are some of my reasons:
1) The shooter has to be a character we’ve seen before
Like.. they just HAVE to LMAO. It’d be SO disappointing and anticlimactic if it was some new character we’ve never seen before?? Like why build up all this tension and suspense only to reveal it’s just some literally-who-cares character 😭😭
2) The shooter is smaller than Soma
So.. I dunno their exact heights. I dunno where Doll would reach if put next to Soma. BUT I’m pretty sure she’s at least smaller than him LOL.
3) “That is one face I would never mistake for another”
I think this one is pretty self explanatory! Doll has a unique face!
Tumblr media
Obviously she would have to be a bizarre doll by the time they met, but I don’t think that scar is something Undertaker could change. ..Or maybe he just wouldn’t care enough LOL
4) Soma knew who the shooter was
So yeah, this one is weird considering we never ever seen Doll and Soma interact.. like ever. However, we don’t see much of Soma’s life when he’s not with Ciel in the first place!! In this arc we learned that he goes out of his way to make curry bread and give it to those in need!
Tumblr media
and well, we all know that Doll could definitely relate to being a homeless, hungry child.
Tumblr media
SO idk, perhaps they could’ve somehow met each other like that. Maybe in passing at the market. Maybe he saw her and gave her some bread. IDK.. I DON”T HAVE MUCH TO GO OFF OF. LMAO
5) “Don’t you dare touch me”
Apparently what the shooter said to Soma is exactly what O!Ciel said to Doll after he set everything on fire and I think that’d be such an AMAZING parallel. Like, it’d really show how far gone she is?? Imagine her living off of revenge because of what O!C did to her and her family. Just like how he is.. OMG 😭
Tumblr media
annd that’s about all the reasons I got! The main thing that’s putting me off is the speech difference between Doll and Canopus :/. “I think it’s time you stopped hesitating” and “don’t you dare touch me” are all of what we’ve heard from Canopus.. it’s different from Doll’s accent
Tumblr media
but it’s not like she can’t just improve on her speech !
SO ANYWAY, that’s it! Some food for thought! THanks for reading!!

LB has every right to not trust CN - he consistently fails at his job, disrespects her boundaries and is an entitled jerk. She DOESNT owe him her identity and esp given how pushy and selfish he can be (dating her in blanc once he found out her identity but not telling her this) LB shouldn’t tell him a fucking thing
... So I wrote a whole essay responding to this, but i saved it as a draft by accident and the entire thing got deleted.
So I’m gonna condense it here. It was about how Maribug and Chatdrien both have defining strengths that are the others’ weakness (namely emergency situation/problem based strategy and understanding physical problems - Mari’s strength/Adri’s weakness - vs strategy for social and emotional situations and seeing what type of support ppl need and how to deal with social conflicts - Adri’s strength/Mari’s weakness, and need for control and certainty vs trust in others despite uncertainty). See how they handle Lila, and also how they deal with Rose in Guilt trip - spoiler: Mari jumps into action before understanding others’ emotional/social needs and makes the situation worse, while Adri is the only one trying to calm her down cuz he sees that its’ not what Rose needs end spoiler. How one of her biggest repeated boundaries that he always respects is not telling her his identity even tho he has expressed that he wants to, and how he could have violated that boundary and/or her identity boundary in The Dark Owl and countless other times, for his own “pushy, selfish” reasons but didnt. Not to mention the reason he found out her identity was cuz she was violating a pretty standard boundary herself - entering someone’s room when they’re not there, touching their stuff, smelling their pillow, etc.  Arguably, i think he should have at least told her he knew, but i can also understand him not wanting her to have to give up her miraculous. In fact, Plagg reminds him that he isn’t supposed to know, and that’s when he says that he won’t tell her. Since she wasn’t the guardian yet, he had no reason to believe that her miraculous wouldnt be taken back if he made it known he knew her identity. Do you really think that if she found out his identity when Fu was the guardian, that she would tell Adrichat she knew? Or that she wouldn’t want to ask him out as Ladybug before Tikki stopped her from using her powers for those reasons (and he needing to be Ladybug to pull it off would probly be the only thing stopping her)?
We see the way she reacts when she feels that someone has intentionally disrespected a boundary in Felix (ie “What is it about ‘no’ that you don’t understand?”), in contrast to how she responds to Chat and how she gently but firmly set a boundary with him about giving her roses when she felt it was necessary (and that she doesn’t feel it’s necessary to respond to Chat like she did to Felix. This is not to say that she secretly wants Chat to flirt with her or whatever, cuz thats just ugh, but that she feels that playful quips and a roll of her eyes or a gentle, firm reminder are enough - that her “no” is enough for him to listen). Both Adrichat and Maribug need to grow and learn about boundaries, cuz lets’ be real, these kids are both problematic with boundaries. You can’t only criticize or demonize Adrichat for a lack of boundaries when Maribug is just as bad. In fact, SO many of the characters are bad with boundaries.
His “failures” in the eyes of the fandom mostly seem to be things that can be explained by “if he hadnt jumped in front of her she would have gotten hit by the akuma instead/strategy for physical problems aren’t his forte because it’s part of their yin-yang characterization/his weapons arent as suited for long range or agility as ladybug’s are”. Mari and Adri are intentionally characterized as having mostly opposite/contrasting situations, strengths, etc. And their strengths are what make them best suited in their respective roles. Adrien is not suited to being LB cuz he isn’t as strong strategically and tactically. Mari is not suited to being Chat cuz she is not good with uncertainty or trusting others to make decisions/plans (this extends well beyond Chat, into her friendships).
If she thinks he’s that bad, why not just take his MIraculous? I mean, she’s the guardian now. The only plausible reason is cuz she values him as a partner and recognizes that there have been many times when she couldn’t have done it without him. You can hate Chat if you want, that’s fine. He’s a flawed character and no one has to like him. I’m just tired of these bad takes based on cherry picking scenes, and a lack of critical thinking or analysis in favor of black-and-white categorizations. Especially when the same flaw in 2 characters is treated differently.
The nice thing about seeing posts you don’t agree with is that you don’t have to interact with them or send anon disagreements. You can just not look at them 😉

Do you find Saihara's characterization weird in chapter 6? Because I do :( He's become super confident, optimistic, and leader-like too fast, especially if you compare to ch5 and before...I understand that in the last chapter all protags get pumped up to end the killing game but...he's quoting Momota and he also developed a 'hunch' like him...even Harukawa says 'sometimes you're so much like Kaito' pls no I like Saihara the way he is, meaning, not like Momota :( but that's just my opinion! ^^
Shuichi's characterization is all over the place. It's not even like... "he's inconsistent because humans are inconsistent" or whatever, it's literally just that his personality changes whenever the narrative needs it to without anything but loose, barely-there excuses to try and justify why it happens.
Chapter 1:
No problems with believing in his detective work, he's actually quite shockingly confident in them for how much he downplays them.
His actual problem is not thinking his skills are where they should be according to professional standards, which is an accurate assessment if the rest of the game is anything to go by actually.
Calls Kaito a reckless idiot for doing something reckless and idiotic. This is the only time he does this.
Learns a lesson?? I guess?? The lesson was apparently supposed to be "don't be afraid to reach for the truth" but it came off more like "you shouldn't let everyone die just because you liked Kaede the most, picking favorites and having bias is bad because you have a duty to remain unbiased so everyone doesnt die"
Then everyone conveniently forgets that he was willing to let them die.
Chapter 1 was the best for his characterization except for the trial. I wish he had acted like this throughout the entire game.
Let him investigate. Dear god why doesn't the detective investigate, or even cast doubt?
Chapter 2:
Kaito is starting to become his Bro now. He's not super biased like in later chapters, but you can start to see it happening.
This is the chapter where he tells everyone not to let their biases get in the way of logic, which is funny considering what he's like in other chapters.
Big sad about Kaede, but a few of the characters (Ryoma, Tenko) comfort him so he's choosing to turn this tragedy into a growth moment. I guess it's kinda like what Chihiro did, except a girl had to die for it and he didn't get brained with a dumbbell at the end.
He's the nicest to everyone in this chapter. Don't worry, it won't last long :)
If he had kept the weird sort of optimism he had during this chapter plus the logical thinking instead of leaning into the angst he might've actually developed and Kaede's death might've been worth a damn.
Chapter 3
Maki gets the spotlight so there's not much to say except for the fact that he's gotten super awkward and is getting progressively dumber.
Honestly Maki is kind of right when she keeps calling him a dumbass for asking questions with very obvious answers.
Literally how the fuck did he ever solve infidelity cases when he can't even figure out shit that's this basic.
Smh.
Oh yeah, the odd hopefulness is gone now. It's buried next to my hope of him turning out to be an interesting character.
Put your hat back on if you're gonna angst again emo boy.
Investigation? Dont know her. I only know the Grind 💯 and hanging out with the Bros 😤👊
Chapter 4:
One of his worst chapters. I fucking hate this chapter.
Everyone patted him on the back before the trial and it felt shoehorned in. I'm not even sure why they did it honestly?
Kokichi = Evil
Kaito & Maki = Good
But dont worry guys, he's totally not biased or anything! (/s)
He's mega biased.
During the trial he has a lot of confidence, like the good kind he had back in Chapter 2. Especially when he lied and when he stood his ground against Kaito. He'll be punished by the narrative for going against Kaito, but for now I'll enjoy his limp-dicked rebellion.
Apparently he cares for Gonta except he never once talked to him during the main story and even insulted Gonta in his head during their FTEs. When did he start to care about Gonta? He didn't, but now he does I guess.
Chapter 5:
Another bad chapter. Hate this too
Officially graduated from Kaito's Bro to Kaito's Simp.
Also his confidence is entirely dependent on Kaito. When Kaito wants him to do something, he's sure Kaito's plan will work and gives him all of his support. If Kaito expresses displeasure, he's ashamed of himself and has no confidence. I-... y'know sometimes I genuinely worry about their dynamic.
Kokichi = Evil ×2 combo
No detective work or reasoning. Why would the gofer project want a cosplayer to go to space and preserve humanity? Or an ex murderer? Or an assassin? Or a detective? Are they going to be solving space crimes? Shuichi should have been so god damn suspicious- the MOST suspicious, even- but he's practically braindead at this point in the story.
Investigation skills, when will you return from the war?
Goes from suicidal to "uwu I'm a hopeful student of Hope's Peak Academy" way too quickly for someone with supposed confidence issues.
Seriously, how did he go from "the world has been destroyed and I cant fix it so I might as well die" to "yeah! we will definitely fix it! we dont know how yet, but we'll totally do it because we're Ultimates even though in Chapter 1 I didnt even think I deserved to be an Ultimate but shhhh" so quickly?
Kiibo and Shuichi kinda sounded like Kaede when they saw the Hope's Peak Flashback and it's so fucking weird because there's no justification for it
Chapter 6:
Literally what was this chapter
Why did it take Kiibo threatening to blow up the school to get him to investigate the mastermind again? 9 people have died since Chapter 1, but he acted as though he couldn't do anything about it. He even says he "can only help after people die", but Chapter 1 disproved that because he literally almost caught the mastermind without anyone dying so-
At least he investigated, I guess. It's sad that a detective investigating is considered a miracle, but here we are.
During the trial he's rapidly switching from hopeful to suicidal to hopeful again and it gives me so much whiplash, like god damn. Chill out a bit, buddy.
Much like the now-late Kaito, Shuichi tries to convince everyone to die with him to make some sort of stand against TDR. Somehow this worked and they also somehow didn't die and we aren't given justification for either.
The confidence came from the fact that the narrative needed him to be confident. That's it. There's literally no justification for this. There's no justification for anything, honestly.
What even was that ending, like what the fuck was that? None of their arcs got wrapped up at all...
So basically
Shuichi is confident but he's not but only when Kaito believes in him but he can stand against Kaito when he needs to and also he's not actually confident and Kaito needs to baby him. Shuichi is also not biased because he learned a lesson about that, unless your name is Kaito, Maki, or Kokichi, in which case he is incredibly biased to the point of putting the lives of other people on the line, but he wants everyone to survive because he learned a lesson about that. He's also incredibly dismissive of most of the cast in his head, to the point of being cold, but it should be noted that Shuichi really cares about his friends and is really nice and supportive of others. He's a big doormat except for when he doesn't want to be, unless it involves Kaito, because then he is always a sidekick except for when he isn't.
Hope that cleared things up! As you can see Shuichi is a very consistent character :) (/s)

Further reactions to "The book of lost tales":
I appreciate that Idril canonically wears armor and does swordfighting.
I feel like I can actually imagine adult!Idril much better now like in armor and with open hair, distraught but ready to fight while babby Earendil does not yet realize the danger...
My first thought is that Earendil was probably cute in that baby chainmail. My second thought is OUCH, Idril and Tuor always made sure their growing baby had fitting chainmail cause they felt the apocalypse might get them at any moment. Imagine that, imagine them having the baby armor fitted every year or so :(
Its fun how much of the basic structure already exists but most of what you'd consider the main characters doesn't exist or is scattered across various minor roles The only Prince anywhere in sight is Turgon - Except for Team Doriath, theyre all accounted for. I suppose Maeglin is kinda there in name only with vaguely the same role & motivation, but looks personality and background all did a 180 since. Luthien is still pretty much "princesd classic" at this point, not quite the fearless go-getter from the final version - markedly this version tells Beren that she doesnt want to wander in the wilderness with him whereas the final one says she doesnt care and its Beren still wants to get the shiny so as not to ask this of her and also for his honor.
I mean in the finished version Id consider the 3rd and 4th gen royals to be the main characters (well, alobgside Team Doriath and the varioud human heroes) and theyre hardly here. Imagine the silm with no Finrod!
Feanor had no affiliation with the royal family whatsoever, and is also generally less super. He's just the guy who won the jewelsmithing competition, not the inventor of the whole discipline. Still seems to have been envisionad as a respected member of the community who gets called to the palace for crisis meetings and is listened to when he stsrts giving speeches. From the first he already has the backstory of going off the deep end (or at least growing disillusioned with Valinor) after a family member is killed by Melkor and theyre still the first to die, but its just some other rando unrelated to the royals
The situation regarding the humans is different - instead of Melkor leaking their existence, its Manwe who explains that the other continents were supposed to be for them eventually. So Feanor goes off on a tirade about weak puny mortals comes off as a more of a jerk unlike in the final version where Melkor barely knew about the humans and described them to the Noldor as a threat. On the other hand in this one, also very much unlike in the finished product, Melkor dupes even Manwe into being unfair to the elves as a whole. In this the final version is a definite improvement, both Feanor and the Valar come off as a lot more sympathetic and though still deceived he's partially right in some things at least, so you have more of a genuine tragedy rather than a simple feud
There is something to the idea of Commoner!Feanor tho. I guess some of this survived in his nomadic explorer lifestyle and how both his wife and mother (who arent mentioned here) eventually were the ones to get that background of being not especially pretty ladies who are not from the nobility but got renown, respect and acclaim for their unique talent and contribution to society, with each having invented things and Nerdanel also being renowed for her wisdom. Hes sort of an odysseus-like Figure in that sense. I suppose later developements necesitated that Maedhros & co. have an army not just a band of thieves, which means they needed to be nobles/lords. That said this being a society where artisans are very respected and half the lords have scholarly/artistic pursuits going, the gap was probably not as big to begin with as it might have been in say, medieval England. Esoecially since Nerdanel's father had been given special honor by one of the local deities and that the social order might have been a very recent thing in Miriel's time. One might speculate that the first generation of Lords started out as warriors during the great journey, or perhaps just Finwe's friend group.
Also found that bit intetesting where the Valar have to deal with the remaining political tensions and effects of Melkor's lies on the remaining population in Valinor... - i guess with the change of framing device it was less likely for news of something like this to reach Beleriand. That, or the existence of Finarfin and his repentance made this go smoother this over in later cannon
Turgon's go-down-with-the-ship moment reaaly got to me. Im half tempted to write a fic where his wife, siblings and dad glomp him on arrival in Mandos. I dont care that none of them exists yet in this continuity i want Turgon to get hugs
I love all the additional Detail that got compressed out in the shift from fairytale-ish to pseudohistoric style especially all the various Valinor magic insofofar as it is compatible with the final version - particularly love the idea of the connection between the lamps and the trees that is now integrated into my headcanon forever
Its actually explained what the doors of night are
If I had not already read unfinished tales or volumes X to XII where this is also apparent, this is where I would say: Ah so the Valar were supposed to be flawed characters. Manwe has an actual arc; by the time he sends Gandalf he finally "got" it. I think in the published silm the little arcs of Ulmo and Manwe are mostly just lost in compression/ less apparent when only some of the relevant scenes got in but not all
It occurred to me way too late that the "BG" chars are the most consistent because theyre at the start and most stories are written from beginning to end. Finwe doesnt get a dedicated paragraph of explicit description until HoME X but my takeaway was that he's described pretty much like I always imagined him anyways/ same vibe I always got from him... charismatic, thoughtful, enthusiastic, sanguine temperament, brave in a pinch but at times lets his judgement be clouded by personal sentiment (though that last bit is more apparent/salient as a character flaw once he became the father of a certain Problem Child) ...i guess this would be a result of jrrt having had a consistent idea of him in his head for a long time.
This means Finwe's still alive at the time of the exodus which is just fun to see/interesting to know... Interestingly he sort of gets what later would be Finarfin's part of ineffectually telling everxone to please chill and think it over first while Feanor simply shouts louder (which is consistent with his actions before the sword incident in later canon where he initially spoke out against the suspiciozs regarding the Valar) - but its not exactly the same, he's more active than Finarfin later in that when "chillax" availed nothing he said that then at least they should talk with the other Kings and Manwe to leave with their blessing and get help leaving (This seems like it would have been the clusterfuck preventing million dollar suggestion in the universe where Feanor is related to him and values him) but when even that falls on death ears he decides that he "would not be parted from his people" and went to run the preparations. I find it interesting that the motivation is sentiment/attachment (even phrased as "he would not be parted from [his people]" same words/ expression as is later used for the formenos situation), not explicitly obligation as it later is for Fingolfin (who had promised to follow Feanor and didnt want to leave his subjects at the mercy of Feanor's recklessness )
Speaking of problem children. It seems the sons of Feanor were the Kaworu Nagisa of the Silmarillion in that originally all they do is show up at some point and kill Dior as an episodic villain-of-the-week. And then, it seems their role got bigger in each continuity/rewrite... probably has something to do with the Silmarils ending up in the title later making it in the sense their story that ends and begins with them. They have zero characterization beyond "fierce and wild" at this point, though in what teetsy bits there is we already have the idea that Maedhros is the leader and Curufin is the smart one/shemer/sweet-talker, though not the bit where Maedhros (or Maglor, or anyone really) is "the nice one". Which I guess explains why "Maglor" sounds like such a stereotypical villain name.
"The Ruin of Doriath" was purportedly the patchworkiest bit of the finished product, but I never noticed and it actually left quite an impression of me upon first reading, the visual of Melian sitting there with Thingol's corpse in her arms contemplating everything thinking back to how they met... she had the knowledge to warn him not to doom himself but couldnt get him to understand it because he doesnt see the world as she does.... After reading this though I wish there was a 'dynamic' rendition that combined all the best bits like, youd have to adapt it to the later canon's rendition of the dwarves, have Nargothrond exist etc. But i mean that just makes Finrod another dead/doomed relative of Thingol's whom bling cannot truly replace, like Luthien and Turin. In the Silmarillion you could easily read it as just an "honoured guest treatment" but here and in unfinished tales I get the impression that Thingol actually did see Turin as a son.
Already you see the idea of trying to make the stories all interconnected but there is less than there will be (the human heroes aren't related yet and there is basically no Nargothrond, which is later a common thread for many of the stories - a prototype shows up in the 'Tale of Turambar' tho complete with half baked prototypes of Orodreth and Finduillas
O boi im not even through yet

Ok so, my thoughts on the VR ending and VR overall as the 6th entry.
Also because most of my thoughts aren't...complimentary im editing the names so they dont appear in the general tag. This also got LONG so readmore.
The Good:
- A//i's character still managed to be the one thing that saves VR as a show for me. Even with all the weird...contradictory plot issues, A//i still manages to be a compelling character who brings up the question of the right to live. I actually do like how he made it so itd be an ultimatum that he loses in either way, even if the ending kinda ruins the weight behind the action (which I will get to in a bit).
The meh:
-the ending was left somewhat open to interpretation which for a show as...empty as this was works out but honestly it was so vague as to A//is fate is that it may as well not exist.
The Bad:
-The main conflict behind the entire show is...simulations. No joke. Every conflict in the show can be traced back to someone doing a simulation and deciding to lose it. Even if they gave the (rather stupid) explanation that AI experience simulations like actual life (which btw the first villain wasnt an AI so this reason doesnt work), the fact that Yu//sa//ku took a bullet for one of A//is robot bodies that he literally has millions of is...just stupid and there solely for the "uwu drama".
-They actually killed A//i off but wait hes actually alive, so like the final duel literally had no purpose aside from...drama??? The episode is called Compromise and yet A//i had to lose just to keep Yu//sa///kus win streak and theres no compromise whatsoever. Yu//sa//ku litetally destroys the CompromA.I.se card so its just, no comrpomise in any way.
-This....wasn't a happy ending??? I have no idea why both the show and the fanbase frame this as a happy ending bc think about it in context: A//i pretty much loses everything, so does Yu//sa//ku who just isolated himself from everyone else for 3 months in order to comb the network for whatever remnants of A//i exist.
- So many of the supporting characters are just...there. Like, there is no side/supporting character who actually has a character arc in this show. Lets go through the list: Ao//i is pretty much the same character as when she started and goes through 2 unnecessary costume changes for a character growth that isnt there because she has literally ONE victory against an opponent that was stated multiple times to be weak and faulty and have her lose and tortured multiple times for no reason whatsoever, G//o had this weird deterioration that may have lead to something but ultimately didn't, Ak//ira is pretty much the same, J//in has ALL HIS TRAUMA ERASED SO THERES THAT, literally the only side characters who have some sembalnce of an arc are Sho//ichi (the best one anyways) from his "betrayal" in S2, and E//ma with her reconciliation with her brother. Outside of that, nothing. Yu//sa//ku, Re//volv//er and Ho//mu//ra are pretty much the only characters with an arc and even then they're not too solid? Which brings me to-
- Yu//sa//ku has been so wildly ooc since the end of S1. Ive seen so many say that his enphasis on bonds and friendship are character growth but actually looking at the sequence of events he suddenly just like. changes completely around his first duel with Ea//rth. Plus, the message of "revenge is good" was always so weird? Like, he got his revenge so all his trauma is ok now and never brought up or explored again aside from within the first 20 episodes. Theres nothing about it after that and its never built upon. The whole point of a revenge arc is to show that its BAD and yet he starts preaching that revenge is wrong AFTER he successfully gets revenge??? And even then its not exactly a revenge as it is more lashing out since it was Ko//ga//mi who was behind it all. Yu//sa/ku was definitely at his strongest characterization in S1 where we see how badly the Lo//st Incid//ent hurt him but S1 had its own share of problems that led into S2 and so many random plot threads that never went anywhere (such as the Anot//her Incid//ents, the Cy//berse deck being irl despite that A//i didnt have a physical body before then, The Bl//ue Mai//den meetup that was repeated by Nao//ki like 10 times in S2 which seemed to be leading up to something but never did, and the fact that theres 4 recap episodes in S1 already spelled some early problems). So much of the supporting cast function to just say "he turned this whole situation around...with ONE card..." i kid you not watch back every Yu//sa//ku duel I GUARANTEE you'll see someone saying hes a great duelist and serve only that purpose. ALSO THE END OF THE SHOW IS JUST MORE DRAMA?? They make him suffer for no reason other than that they can??? What purpose does his suffering at the end serve aside from just "uwu...poor baby..."???
-Re//volv//er is not a good rival. At all. He's so incredibly bland because much like Yu//sa//ku he was at his strongest characterization in S1 where he actually had some solid motivation in continuing his fathers work and being unable to accept that his dad was evil, yet most of that just flies out the window with all the collateral he's willing to inflict with the K//O//H?? All his character amounts too post S1 is "yeah i told you robots are evil and YOU didnt believe me". The most we got of him growing out of this mindset was calling A//i by his name exactly one time and nothing ever again. Also the fact that in the end we see him and his crew working for S//O//L despite the fact that they were gonna turn themselves in for their crimes just. leaves a rotten taste in my mouth. hes not a good rival at all. All he proves to me is that a good design can get anyone to like a character.
- Ho//mu//ra is...there. I literally cant say anything about him because he absolutely has the strongest motivations of the three but then the show jumps through hoops to push him to the back of the other two. He also has a bunch of early victories I do feel are undeserved (ESPECIALLY the A//oi duel that one pissed me off so much). Also the fact that the show just made him Yu//sa//kus friend immediately whereas it took Sho//ichi several months to get Yu//sa//ku to warm up to him just had me :/.
-The speed duels were a cool concept but they just became these huge cheat fests? Seriously Play//Maker uses StAccess literally every speed duel to pull out a new monster from whatever plot holes the writers need to patch up. I am not kidding. You can go back to every single speed duel Yu//sa//ku was in and youll see this. Skills just werent a good mechanic because when a protag pulls a new card its supposed to be representative of some growth/characterization but he stays the same pretty much throughout the entire show up until S2 where he wildly just switches personality. Plus the fact that Que//en could literally use a skill whenever just shows that it was cheating???
- The villains were overall lackluster. Boh//man was the best because Re//volv//er is just flat whereas A//i struck me more as an anti hero. And again: simulations are the enemy. Light//ning ran one and decided to go ham. Kog//ami ran one and decided to go ham. A//i ran one and decided to go ham. The conflicts are all the same and it just makes things happen rather than following a consistent plot thread? I will say that Boh//mans characterization of a hive mind to become perfect does strike my tastes but thats more my personal preference in villains rather than any merit he has.
- This is a bit of a personal pet peeve but I've seen some of the praise to this show about being the "darkest Y//G//O to date so therefore its good" and im just...no? Edge does not make a good show and just because they lightly focused on the tragedy in Yu//sa//kus life (and it IS lightly because its barely touched upon after mid S1) most of the stuff that happens in this show is pretty tame in comparison? The most that happened here was an attempted global hack of everyones minds from S2 and destroying the internet in S1, with a few references to the torture that happened during the Lo//st incid//ent. To compare: the previous series had this huge interdimensional war that, even if they could reverse the carding of people (which makes Den//nis' attempted suicide even more tragic), ended with an entire dimensions full of brainwashed soldier children, a dimension with huge class inequality that was still being heavily worked upon since there were canonically slaves, and a dimension that was savaged by a genocide and total global destruction. Hell, the series before that had a huge war where the arc actually did focus on the tragedys the characters faced and held consequence (even if they pulled a dbz revive everyone at the end). And as far back into the very first series there were even more graphic depictions of war and death? Idk i feel like people are overplaying the edge here just to find a way to complement this show.
Overall:
I'm...genuinely dissappointed. VR really had so many strong starting points but it all just fell apart at execution. Really the only reason I even bothered to watch it as kong as I did was because Im a longtime fan of the series and wanted to give it a chance rather than jump on whatever love/hate train the show has. Its been rated poorly on the JP side and most of the approval is a vocal minority. Just to be clear: this isnt me bashing the show, my opinions are mine and you can agree or disagree to any capacity, and even if a show isnt well written you can still find a reason to enjoy it despite the flaws.
But if Im being perfectly honest? I do not like this show. It's rushed, choppy, has no consistent or clear plot threads, most of the genuinely interesting characters are wasted for the protagonist to look better and he never really does because he ALSO has an interesting idea behind him but it never goes anywhere. It started strong but ended so poorly. Id be angry but im more dissappointed because Ive watched this show from day 1 and wanted to see the good things it has rather than focus on the negatibes but. yeah. This show really had potential and yet it just fell flat.

the majority of smut written takes place after their both adults, but im pretty sure the issue isnt zutara shippers sexualizing them but gross fans sexualizing katara specifically. just the sexualization of indigenous women in general, even in the show (ex: ember island players).
these are the oversimplified arguments you used: "You're the ones who think a hug, 2 minutes, and self sacrificing is chemistry"
as for kataang, i entirely disagree. i wasnt even originally a zutara shipper, kataang just made me extremely uncomfortable. throughout the show there are VERY few moments in which we see katara shown to have romantic feelings for aang. plus the pairing of a prebuscent twelve year old with a post pubescent fourteen year old always rubbed me the wrong way. i just think kataang is very aang centric and strips katara of her agency. (and im not even going to get into the way aang was characterized in season 3 onwards). not to mention they rewrote episodes push kataang further. if a relationship isnt working in the show, you cant force it to work.
i started shipping zutara because all the issues i had with kataang were simply not there with them. katara has no issue communicating with zuko, and doesnt feel the need to mother him. katara consistently spares aang from harsh truths because she doesnt want to hurt his feelings. she feels the need to take care of him, and to me that isnt romantic, that is motherly. not to being able to talk to your partner, one of the people you're supposed to trust most, with your burdens is bound to take a toll on katara's mental health. we constantly see katara comforting aang, but its never the other way around is it? katara deserves some emotional support as well. and she finds that in zuko (southern raiders). shes the first person we see her tell the entire story of how her mother was killed to. she doesnt feel like shes burdening him when she talks about her trauma. he is able to comfort and support her, and she is able to do the same for him (finale when she convinces zuko to see his uncle). i dont think it would make sense for them to get together by the end of the show, but essentially i ship them because of the friendship we are given. im a firm believer in the fact that good relationships stem from healthy frienships, where one isnt always taking care of the other. honestly i dont even need them to be together i just believe their soulmates, platonic or otherwise. but from what we are given in show i will not, and can not, accept kataang. plus, the sun and moon symbolism is beautiful hehe.
another day another zukka shipper talking about their ship under a post that had nothing to do with it.

Note
i know this is random, but do you have any tips on writing ford and fiddleford? you do a really good job on their characterizations and even though i'm very familiar with their characters i always write people out of character when i'm writing, lol! thanks !!!!
Tumblr media
ghhhgg i Kid but anyway im like super distracted so i just made a list of a bunch of common mistakes i see when people r writing themedit: i was so wrong i made such a long fucking post im sorry this was a Mistake (rip mobile users)
first things first everything in the journal was Fake
Tumblr media
fiddleford:
“fiddleford is a poor precious cinnamon roll who is helpless and did nothing wrong uwu” fuck off he built all those robots and probably killed a bunch of people in the process he isnt some innocent sunflower he’s more like a rowdy dandelion
yes this applies even if you’re writing young fiddleford he was just more patient and less open with his life of crime because he didnt want to go to jail
his eyes are blue. theyre fucking blue. theyre fucking b
“he doesnt like swears/he’s soft-spoken” wrong he’s literally the only character to have sworn on-screen
“he started the society because he was traumatized by what he’d seen” no, where did you get that idea. he literally says he invented the gun because he was “haunted by the thoughts of what I’d done” >literally stating that it was guilt not fear that was bothering him. eventually yes he used it for erasing scary memories but that was not his initial intent
he’s not bald anymore
really any idea that fiddleford is pathetic is grossly ooc i can think of one situation in the show that he wasn’t able to get himself out of and thats because he was turned into a fucking arras
what is this southern belle bullshit… he chews tobacco and wrestles pigs please stop woobifying this force of nature
a banjo is not the same as a guitar. a banjo is not the same as a guitar. a banjo is not the same as a guitar.
if youre going to write accents don’t be obnoxious about it
EX: “How are y’all doin’ this fine evening?”NOT: “Hower y’all doien’ this fain evenin’?”you don’t have to use the mannerisms in every sentence and you don’t have to drop the g in every -ingphonetic spelling is a pain to read like at the most you should be using apostrophes not respelling words (“Stanferd” more like kill me now)
also make sure your mannerisms are geographically accurate he’s not from texas i never want to see him say “sugah” again
his accent isnt even that strong in the show …what……….
tip: fiddleford is salty as FUCK he has NO MERCY and holds onto grudges like a lifesaver in a storm
tip: he loves being around people and will talk to them about fucking anything such as his multiple cases of manslaughter but doesn’t usually open up about his insecurities unless prompted
further reading: 1 2 3 4
stanford:
“everything that happened to fiddleford is ford’s fault” did ?? you even watch the show??? fiddleford did all that shit himself ford had nothing to do with it
“ford was manipulating dipper and con-” im gonna stop you right there. ford loves his niece and nephew. he agreed to leave the kids alone because stan thought he was too dangerous to be around them. stan only let dipper hang out with ford after dd&md. ford loves dipper and mabel equally and never wanted them to split up or anything. bill fucking knew this hence why he threatened ford with killing them. he made the proposal to dipper about the apprenticeship because he genuinely thought that was the best thing for dipper. he was wrong but he didnt know that
in fact while we’re at it - ford literally always does stuff with the best of intentions he’s just dumb and unlucky as shit
deal with the devil? he thought the devil was his nerdy buddy not the devil. he just was so happy to have a friend who appreciated him he didnt realize he was the fucking devil
abandon your brother? he thought his brother had sabotaged his dreams and that the only person he’d ever trusted had betrayed him. he was wrong but it’s not like stan apologized or denied it. also what was he supposed to do? challenge his dad? in case you didn’t notice filbrick was a fucking terrible dad
building a doomsday device? too bad you’re literally being manipulated and abused by Lucifer The Triangle
“ford didn’t want to make amends with stan” um, no, like obviously he’s still mad and stuff but in dd&md he stops himself from getting super mad and asks stan if he wants to play with him and dipper
“ford wanted to kick stan out” ?? when did he say that??? the closest thing he said to that was that he wanted his house back and while i GUESS you could interpret that as he wanted it back to himself he follows it up directly with “this mystery shack junk is over forever” so its pretty obvious he means he wants the tourist trap that makes a mockery of his entire life’s purpose out of his house
“fords a grumpy guy” he is the opposite . he is overflowing with love and pride for those he holds dear. he might be a little gruff but who wouldnt be after living in hell for 30 years
remember that one asshole whose kink is “ciphord abuse”. dont be that guy. dont write kink shit
just. don’t make ford the villain. dont do it.
this may come as a surprise to you..but….he DOESNT have to bring up his intellect all the time! a shock i know
tip: ford is very excitable he loves getting up and doing things and going on adventures!! he loves interacting with the creatures around gravity falls like the gnomes and steve (see: every gotdamn episode)
he’s also very sympathetic; if someone he knows/cares about is struggling he does whatever he can to help them and comfort them (see: the last mabelcorn, damvtf)
he tends to think more big picture as opposed to worrying about individual details. the priority is always solving the larger problem unless a loved one’s life is ostensibly in danger in which case that takes priority (see: damvtf, wmg1, wmg3)
tip: ford is gay
tip: he’s also anti-social and wouldn’t be very forward with romantic notions like it would take him months before he even THINKS about kissing someone and even then its like a 10 hour loop of beach boys’ wouldn’t it be nice
tip: he is the king of infodumping and explains everything in excruciating detail
tip: he likes to have a good time! don’t be afraid to let him have fun!!
further reading: 1 2 3
for both:
enough of the angst. enough. enough
if you’re going to make them trans don’t milk the dysphoria
tip from my pal rudy @blue-dipper (im not trans)
same kinda goes for if youre doing romance dont overplay the internal/external homophobia i made that mistake so many times its just clunky and gets in the way of the characters
the whole idea of “the innocent one” vs “the sinful one” is garbage. abandon it. you will feel a weight lifted from your shoulders
realistically if it’s a reunion thing don’t make them hook up automatically this shit takes time
in general avoid stereotypes. some examples being “the hippie” or “the nerd” just write them like they act on the show its easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved
ALEX HIRSCH ≠ WORD OF GOD only the stuff in the show needs to be considered 100% canon you can pick and choose all the other stuff or ignore it entirely
in conclusion all fiction is subjective and writing someone “in character” all depends on how you perceive the character. these are my perceptions of the character and yeah i get really frustrated when people don’t agree because i believe mine are those that make the most sense and that good representation of neurodivergent and lgbta+ people is important also im petty and annoying. the most important thing is that you be consistent with your portrayals (unless your perception of the character is inconsistency in which case good luck)

Disney motion pictures are purported to be pure and harmless, however these moments show that the corporate has a racist previous. Try these racist Disney moments producers need you to overlook.
Music of The South is so racist that even Disney has banned the film from being replicated or bought as a consequence of its intense racial undertones. The character of Uncle Remus is a former African American slave who tells two white kids people tales. Uncle Remus tells these tales to the 2 kids of his former masters whereas nonetheless dwelling on the plantation he was enslaved on. WHOA!
The story additionally consists of the tune “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah,” which options racial stereotypes, comparable to whistling, skipping, and over-the-top blatant racism. The film additionally particulars why “white trash” kids shouldn’t be revered. This film is best off being destroyed and we will perceive why Disney would wish to overlook about it.
Fantasia was launched nicely earlier than Disney began attempting to be politically appropriate. The movie includes a character known as “Sunflower,” who’s a black centaur with braids. The character can also be a servant to a light-skinned, bigger, blonde, and exquisite centaur.
Watching this clip may be very uncomfortable due to how obvious the racial undertones are. Making a centaur character who’s black, with braids, as a servant to a white centaur isn’t okay. Regardless that there aren’t any people on this clip, nothing about it’s PC. In lots of releases of Fantasia, this clip has been deleted.
Dumbo is called an American basic, though most of the scenes are crammed with racist imagery and phrases. In a single scene, Dumbo is confronted by a gaggle of doo wop singing crows, which is racist in itself. However, the worst a part of the scene is that the primary crow is definitely named “Jim Crow.”
Jim Crow is a reference to the Jim Crow legal guidelines which was a collection of anti-black legal guidelines created after the top of the Civil Battle to restrict the social developments of African People. The crows in Dumbo additionally speak in “jive” which is an extremely racist stereotype of African People.
The Siamese cats within the movie Woman and The Tramp are portrayed as being slinky and secretive. The Siamese twin cats are additionally identified by the names of Si and Am, which is a transparent play on the identify of the nation Siam. The 2 cats are supposed to medical anomaly of Siamese conjoined twins.
The cats additionally converse with a closely exaggerated stereotypical accent, that’s neither politically appropriate or humorous. Additionally, their bodily options are supposed to characterize the horribly racist views many People had of Asians in the course of the 1950s. The cats are very skinny with small, slender eyes.
Peter Pan is an age-old story, however the Disney retelling is fairly racist. The Native folks which are featured within the movie usually are not solely wearing racist garb, however they sing one of the offensive songs in Disney historical past. The tune is entitled, “What Makes the Pink Man Pink,” which makes use of the previous and racist stereotype of pink males,” to reference Native folks.
The tune additionally states that the “pink man” grew to become “pink” as a result of a lady kissed him, which is really offensive to the historical past of Native folks in america. The tune is racially tone-deaf and proves that the racism in Disney motion pictures utilized to everybody who was not white.
The Jungle Guide was initially written by writer Rudyard Kipling, who additionally wrote the poem “White Man’s Burden,” which is solely about colonization. The film The Jungle Guide is crammed with racist moments, together with its depiction of King Louie. King Louie is an ape, who speaks solely in “jive,” whereas each different character within the film speaks correct English.
King Louie can also be portrayed as being lazy and as slacking off with a purpose to be king of the jungle, which is an previous racist Disney stereotype. He’s additionally pictured as being fats, and for consuming approach an excessive amount of. These stereotypes contribute to an total racist movie about British colonization.
You is likely to be stunned to search out out that the movie Aladdin has key moments of racism. The opening tune of Aladdin is entitled “Arabian Nights,” which options small hints of racism that focus on many alternative stereotypes of Arab folks. The lyrics of the tune state, “I come from a land, from a faraway place, the place the caravan camels roam … the place it’s flat and immense and the warmth is intense, it’s barbaric, however hey, it’s dwelling!”
The time period “barbaric” is a an previous stereotype for Arab folks, which is usually neglected, though it’s seen as extremely racist immediately. This film additionally got here out within the early 1990s, when anti-Islamic sentiment was rising in america.
Sebastian is among the major characters within the movie The Little Mermaid, and is the one character who has a really heavy accent. Sebastian is performed with a thick Jamaican accent, though Ariel is clearly American. Throughout his tune, “Below The Sea,” Sebastian tells Ariel that she ought to keep in her dwelling below the water as a result of she doesn’t want a job within the ocean.
Sebastian is portrayed as a lazy Jamaican, which is clearly a stereotype. The racist ideology behind that is the misperception by some that Jamaicans are lazy, as a consequence of their cultural attributes and the colour of their pores and skin. That is simply plain ignorant.
The movie Pocahontas is a very white-washed telling of the historic determine. Pocahontas is portrayed within the movie as a sexual girl, though in historical past she was eleven on the time of the colonization of Jamestown. The movie additionally options the tune “Savages,” which particulars the Powhatans as being both noble or savages. It is a horrible approach of detailing a gaggle of individuals.
The Native folks within the movie are additionally portrayed as sexual primal beings, particularly the racist outfit which Pocahontas wears to “lure” John Smith. Your complete movie is a white and romanticized model of what really occurred again within the day.
The hyenas within the movie The Lion King are a key instance of racism in Disney movies. First off, Disney portrays Africa as simply being an animal land, with out mentioning key civilizations which reside on the continent.
Secondly, the hyenas that are featured in The Lion King are over-the-top stereotypical. The hyenas are supposed to painting African and Hispanic characters, whose goal within the movie is for comedian reduction. Additionally, one of many hyenas is supposed to be intellectually disabled for the sake of “comedy,” which is simply terrible!
The Princess and The Frog was meant to be a giant breakthrough for Disney as a result of it revealed the primary African American Disney princess. Regardless that it was a step in the correct route, the movie fell utterly quick. Tiana’s love curiosity, Prince Naveen, has an ethnicity that’s utterly complicated.
Naveen’s options and pores and skin tones are lighter than that of Tiana and his nation of origin is the made up nation of Maldonia. Not solely does this show that he’s not proudly black, however that Disney didn’t really feel snug having two identifiable black characters starring of their film.
Most of those racist moments have been small, however this second is undeniably and over-the-top so. Launched in 1930, Cannibal Capers was a brief movie which featured a lion-chief and a gypsy soul. Not solely does this painting African Natives as being mystical gypsies, however it additionally depicts African folks as being cannibals. This characterization of the African folks is upsetting.
The characters are drawn with skinny limbs, huge lips, massive stomachs, and so they converse by clicking their tongues. The cartoon is supposed to indicate the “animal” aspect of those people, which is the very definition of racism.
The Evening Earlier than Christmas is a cartoon by Disney which was launched to the general public in 1933. The 1930s was not a decade of political correctness, however this movie is among the most racist on our listing. In a single scene of the movie, a baby tries to climb the chimney to catch Santa. In doing so, his total face turns into coated in coal and he proceeds to bop across the room in black face.
Your complete scene is racist as a result of it adheres to the previous comedian custom of vaudeville and utilizing bodily attributes to obtain amusing. That boy shouldn’t have gotten any presents in any respect.
The Little Mermaid had many alternative moments which may be thought-about racist. Once more in the course of the tune “Below The Sea,” a big black fish may be seen singing out a relatively lengthy word. The black fish is meant to painting the very racist line, “till the fats woman sings,” which implies that the top of the tune is coming.
Different historians imagine that the fish can also be a personality illustration of the well-known African American singer Aretha Franklin. In newer diversifications of the movie, the blackfish’s word is minimize out and she or he isn’t seen, as a consequence of backlash from viewers members immediately.
The character of Jafar within the film Aladdin is the evil character, and he’s additionally a racist illustration of Arab folks. Jafar’s look is crammed with Arabic options, whereas Aladdin’s character is a whitewashed model of a personality who has no Arabic bodily traits.
Portraying the villian as Arabic, whereas the nice major character is whitewashed is an indication of Disney’s racist intent. Jafar can also be a number of pores and skin tones darker than Aladdin, which is simply one other racist signal. Regardless that each Jafar and Aladdin reside in the identical place, Aladdin seems like he’s European.
Zootopia’s total plot is about racism and the way animals characterize America’s present race relations. Regardless that the plot is an effort to mirror our personal present political correctness, the movie’s plot falls quick. The animal kingdom within the film is cut up between predators and prey, however on this situation evaluating any race to both predator or prey is a racist concept.
Who in america goes to wish to both be predator or prey? The movie additionally makes use of a narrative a few sly fox for inspiration for one of many major characters, which is definitely taken from the racist film Music of The South. Nobody ought to use Music of The South as inspiration for a film about race relations.
The Aristocats’ Siamese cats depiction of Siamese cats is simply one other racist portrayal. Disney appears to make use of the identical previous stereotypes for each Chinese language character throughout their early movies. Shun Gon is Siamese cat who performs the piano with chopsticks. His character is racist, to not point out that this cat is crammed with bodily Asian stereotypes!
Shun Gon has buck enamel, a heavy Chinese language accent, and small, slanted eyes. The cat can also be heard singing the lyrics, “Shanghai, Hong Kong, Egg Fu Yung. Fortune cookie all the time mistaken.” May this portrayal of a Chinese language cat be any extra stereotypical or racist?
Within the movie Aladdin, Princess Jasmine is obliged to marry a prince earlier than she will be able to settle for her function as Queen. This story line is low-key racist, and preys on the concept that all Japanese queens had been obligated to carry out in an organized marriage. Regardless that organized marriages do exist within the East, this portrayal is a whitewashed view of the previous custom.
Additionally, Jasmine’s outfits are extremely over-sexualized and usually are not traditionally correct. Throughout this time, Jasmine would have worn unfastened becoming garments and would have been sporting massive quantities of cloth. She wouldn’t have been sporting her iconic two-piece blue jumpsuit.
Within the movie Mulan, the characters of the Huns are portrayed as being violent barbarians in opposition to the pristine and peaceable Chinese language folks. The Huns are additionally characterised with Asian wanting options, whereas having pores and skin tones a number of shades darker than the Chinese language characters. Mulan and Shang’s pores and skin tones are virtually white, and most of the Chinese language figures within the film do not need any Asian pores and skin tones or options.
The Huns are also featured with both pink or yellow eyes, which isn’t appropriate or politically appropriate. These white attributes whitewash the Chinese language tradition and have a tendency to result in inference that Disney thinks that the “good guys” ought to be seen as white. Not solely is that mistaken, however it’s simply downright racist.
Regardless that the movie Pocahontas Two was not launched in theaters (it went straight to VHS,) the film must be highlighted for its racist moments. The chief Powhatan within the movie is especially famous as a racist depiction as a result of the chief speaks in grunts, relatively than in English. Not solely does he not converse full sentences, however at some factors he speaks so slowly that watching the scene turns into uncomfortable.
The movie additionally includes a scene the place Pocahontas runs round in her underwear and asks a person if he likes her costume. This over-sexualization of the character proves that Disney is attempting to counsel that Pocahontas is a “savage” for not realizing what British underwear seems like.
