turbo is connected to the last piece of his code in the whole arcade - a trophy he gifted to felix in mid 80s as a symbol of him genuinely caring about their relationships on par with being the best racer. felix also gave him one of his medals and both kept their gifts next to other rewards, but when roadblasters and turbotime were unplugged, the medal was gone with everything else
now, after burning in cola-lava turbo is basically dead, but scraps of his code still were intertwined with the trophy (after all, it was his first winner's cup, but felix never knew about it), giving turbo an opportunity to exist as a shadow incapable of interacting with anything and anyone besides felix, who kept the trophy even after the roadblasters incident

post-macdennis reveal episode in the same vein as "the gang spies like u.s." where mac and dennis get tired of fighting and decide to look for a third partner for casual sex so they can both bottom get what they want. except they have a hard time finding a guy they're a. both attracted to and b. neither of them are jealous of, so they keep sabotaging/scaring away each candidate.
meanwhile, charlie sees them sneaking around to screen all these guys and thinks they're trying to replace him with another gay friend since they're both gay now. a confused confrontation ensues where he essentially re-applies to be their friend by bringing up all the weird shit they've done together over the last 30 years and insisting he can fulfill all of their needs even though he's not also gay.
dennis and mac misunderstanding this and freaking out while considering whether they should/want to just fuck charlie until everything finally blows up.

every year around this time I rewatch Julie and the Phantoms, and every year I am reminded how much heart this little tween show about grief and hope has
#more thoughts in the tags#it is at times what the kids call 'cringe' - or it would be - if it wasn't so earnest#sometimes you don't need a perfect budget or 20-somethings pretending to be teenagers#or a large following or sequel appeal#sometimes you don't need big complicated anythings to make a story that ought to be told or a show that ought to be seen#sometimes you need to cast children as child characters#and come up with a theme that everyone can feel on some level [death] [hope] [love]#and choose loud colorful costumes and big cheesy music numbers and silly gags and over-the-top bully characters for the FUN of it#and pour every ounce of heart you've got into it and if netflix cancels it after one season? you gave that one season your all#jatp#there's a difference between big-budget stories written to profit from lust or shock or violence--#--and stories that are written for younger people and dealing with something people of all ages will eventually encounter#stories that are written about characters who lean on loved ones and focus on what they can do with what they've got#characters who are determined not to waste their lives or the gifts they've been given and instead to push on with excellence#specifically in order to benefit others#and what a bonus if the young lead actress is an incredibly-talented darling who is not sexualized by any part of the show in any way#what a bonus-bonus if the other protagonists are three good-looking dead dudes from the 90's (just because the writers COULD)#who are so openly affectionate and brotherly and huggable that you genuinely watch and think 'I hate that they died'. and you're SUPPOSED t#that it perfectly portrays what a real healthy best-friendship looks like - both for girls AND boys#that it perfectly portrays what TEENAGERS can be like#(not the high school. the high school is insane. it is cartoonish. I am 98% sure current high schools aren't blue and furry like that.)#and the main ship? luke and julie? that is seven-layer bean dip romance right there#like an onion. LAYERS to unpack#they did not have to make the ghost boy who seems most unbothered by death go back to his parents' home and weep#where he thought no one could see him. weep over lost time and past mistakes he can never take back. because he was loved#and loved unconditionally even if things were hard sometimes. kids need to see that in shows#they need to see that good parents are not perfect AND good parents love you. and that YOU are not always right#and that life is too short to let the sun go down on your freaking anger. open up your mouth and talk to the people you love and try.#the nuance of the bully character? that Carrie is a hard worker and talented JUST LIKE JULIE#and using it for ALL the wrong reasons in all the wrong ways

lukey confirmed that his keeper slash newt slash general lore is inspired by the maze runner and i genuinely felt a passion arise from within my heart that has been dormant for a couple years now. it hasn’t dominated by blog for a while so many may not know how deep this hyperfixation runs but you’re all about to be VERY aware.
#i was writing essays about it. for fun.#its so fucking serious for me#genuinely an unhealthy obsession with it. i still see people post about it and i think ‘i know so much more than you do’#but also i read the books first so i kinda hate the movies#like you have to view them as two seperate franchises. actually i could write a whole post on this#because it drives me crazy that the books written after the movie release became skewed by the fandom#Do any of you know that newt/alby were implied to be in a romantic relationship#Do you know this. Do you know the fever code was supposed to show us more of their bond#Do you know that in the first movie release they had profiles for the gladers#and one of them was alby talking about the first and only thing he remembered about his life..#.. before the glade was newt. a beautiful boy. do u fucking know this#do you know that after the movies alby was sidelined in favour of thomas#and newts character became centered around him#and it’s an obvious difference. read and compare crank palace to the original trilogy.#i am also number one nalby and alby fan in the world so. yeah#i have not fucking forgotten. genuinely there is a deep rage in my heart from that#they did alby so dirty in the movies. i loved him. and AGGGHHHH!!!!#books are also so much more fucked up and the characters are deeply flawed. it’s much more realistic#especially surrounding newts death. which i also have problems with in the movies.#because they made it more Conclusive than the books. the point of his death was that it was completely TRAGIC#and unavoidable. and there was no cure. and in the movies they make him like a beacon of hope or something#in the movies its more romanticized also. which is a fandom problem too. that really upsets me#he was suicidal. they took that out of the movies too. his death was slow and creeping and horrifying. he slowly lost everything about him#it was a more paletable approach to the general audience/for movie adaptation but errr. just lost a lot of his character themes#umm but that being said. i do prefer things about the movies over the books#for one the books suck. theyre so bad. the plot is not cohesive at all#the author is a freak#and like brenda is so cool. and frypan.#HOLY FUCK that’s a lot of tags. my blog n i do what i want#cooper rants
