SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW- CHAP ONE

That was it, he was gone…

Dustin’s voice sounded muffled as you looked at Eddie’s body, starting to get cold, right there in your arms, his lips looked pale and eyes dry as you caressed his cheek. Fat, hot tears rolled down your own cheeks as you looked at your boy, a faint smile appears on your face as you recall 

“There’s no shame in running” right, Edd? Then why? Why?

You mutter at him, the once smile now turned upside down as your face starts to flood with tears, little hiccups escape your throat. the sweet nickname, given when you were little, rolled off your lips so easily…

Your hand runs up to his hair, puffy wild curls now full of dirt and blood, you run your nails through his scalp softly.

You wanted to smell his scent one last time, but now he only smells like blood and sweat, barely there a little of tobacco.

“Come on moony, we have to go!” Dustin says, his voice stained with tears.

You lean down, doing what you wanted he was alive to do, you kiss him. It's brief, but sweet, just a little peck at his bloody lips.

“I love you Edd… Goodbye”

you hug him one last time and lay his cold body on the ground, closing his eyes and then getting up.

You help dustin back to the right side and go yourself, eddie’s pick necklace and bandana in your back pocket

TWO DAYS LATER

You’re in Eddie's room, looking through his band t-shirts, picking some of them for you, grief is consuming you from the inside, you couldn't even look Wayne in the eyes when you handed him the bandana earlier that day.

When looking through the inside of a drawer, in between probably expired condoms and some cigarette butts, you see something moving wildly in it, some black little thing that looks like a little fox.

You take off the Black Sabbath shirt from inside the drawer and then you see, it’s a little bat. His left wing is clearly hurt, and he turns to you slowly.

You can swear it’s Eddie for a moment, but that isn’t possible right? He died on upside down two days ago… right? Trauma and grief is just getting to you.

The little bat walks very slowly towards the border of the drawer, but when it is gonna come into the light it squeaks loudly and returns to the shadow on the back.

Then you remember…. Dustin adopted the demodog that day years ago and didn’t even know it was from the Upside Down… And it reacted just like that to light.

You look back at the little bat and as if he could understand you, you say “don’t move a muscle!” 

For a moment you think he nodded but you might be imagining things again.

You close the drawer slowly to not shake the little thing up and stand, running to the car and going to Dustin's house.
