Verosika and her crew re-imagined, i had a lot of fun with them! =D (notes in read more)

The first changes were to make everyone have pink skin, to differentiate them more from the imps, as well as the heart-shaped tail; and the second change was to give the same color value as the skin tone of their human disguises

Now some small notes for some characters:

Apple - since i wanted all the characters to keep the same clothes in their disguises, my alternative was to give her a strand of pink hair because i felt like it was missing a bit of pink

Milky - i changed her hair to a medium afro and gave her more accessories like piercings and a choker

Verosika - i gave her a little more makeup and since i loved her first outfit i decided to keep it in her human disguise. since she is a pop star and was performing, she could pretend that her horns, wings and tail are part of the costume, i'm pretty sure the humans wouldn't even suspect xD

Josh - i added makeup and bondage harness, put on high boots and cut out the pattern on the shirt in a heart shape. since him and ace are dating, i wanted to give him the other hand of the glove his boyfriend is wearing

Kat - i wanted to show more of his skin, and since the ep takes place on the beach i gave him a very common outfit to see on the beach. i also gave him a piercing and two tattoos

"Blitzø didn't even visit Stolas in the hospital!"

(This was originally posted to the Helluva Boss subreddit on July 7th, 2024. It has been slightly edited & reformatted from the original post. Keep in mind that this was originally made shortly after Apology Tour aired, especially in the context of the fandom atmosphere at the time. Also we hadn't gotten the information we got in Ghostfuckers yet.)

I've seen this particular criticism thrown around since Apology Tour, usually in response to people discussing Stolas' accusation that Blitzø knew about Striker and didn't tell him/didn't come rescue him. Not going to go into further detail on that, you can look back through my comment history if you want to know my (incredibly rambling) opinion on that.

But, I've seen a lot of people, even people who think that it was totally fair that Blitzø didn't go after Stolas, who have thrown out the title ^ of this post as an argument, or some variation of it. That Blitzø just couldn't be bothered to go visit Stolas, and that that was just another way that he fucked things up.

HOWEVER.

I've been thinking about this since I first watched the episodes back in February, when I first joined the fandom. My opinion: I don't think it's an accident that we got episodes 4, 5, and 6 of season 2 in the order that we did, nor that we got those three particular stories back-to-back.

Let me explain.

S2E4: Western Energy - Stolas gets badly injured by Striker, and ends up staying in the hospital for a bit while he recovers. Blitzø is stunned by this, not realizing that Stolas can even be hurt. While in the hospital, Blitzø texts Stolas his "get bevver swoon" wishes; Stolas responds and tells him that he's free to come by and visit him if he'd like. Blitzø is typing something out, before deciding against sending it. Also of note is the sheer crowd of reporters and gawkers as Stolas is originally brought to the hospital, as well as the plague doctor, uh, doctors, that attend to him.

S2E5: Unhappy Campers - Blitzø tries to reconnect with Barbie Wire. He breaks into her room? wing? whatever in rehab. He gets tased for his efforts, told to fuck off and not ruin her life, with the conversation clearly implying he's done this many times before ("How many times do I have to sodomize you with a taser before you take a hint?" "As many as it takes to get me off.") By the end of the episode, Barbie is pissed with him, telling him that she "NEVER wants to see [him], EVER." Many people have pointed out the symbolism of her jabbing her finger into the necklace Blitzø wears instead of his chest - the necklace that used to belong to his and Barbie's mother.

S2E6: Oops - The big argument happens between Fizz and Blitzø over what exactly happened in the past, Fizz's misconception that Blitzø had deliberately started the fire out of jealousy towards him, and Blitzø's genuine heartbreak over what had happened and his heartfelt apology over unintentionally destroying Fizz. Then, the part of the conversation that's relevant to this post:

Fizzarolli: So, why didn't you try to tell me any of this? Or come see me? Even once would've been fine! Blitzø: I tried... You were all I had left, Fizz. But they told me you didn't want to see me. Fizzarolli: I never told them that! Blitzø: Bullshit... You didn't? Fizzarolli: No! And no one told me you came! Both: Oooohhh...

Do you see what I'm getting at here? In reverse order, we get A) Blitzø trying to visit his childhood best friend in the hospital after accidentally mutilating him, and getting turned away and told he's not wanted; B) Blitzø trying to visit his twin sister in rehab after the accident that destroyed their home and livelihood and killed their mother (which she almost certainly blames him for), and getting kicked out and tased and told he's not wanted; and C) Blitzø getting a text from his transactional situationship that got horribly injured by an asshole that Blitzø had to stop once already, telling him that he could visit him in the hospital if he wanted.

It's like a micro version of the Rose Quartz Character Arc™ from Steven Universe: getting the end result of the story first, before sequentially getting the inciting incident and logical progression of that story. If we reverse the order of events, we then get the catalyst for Blitzø's pattern of behaviour (Fizz in ep. 6), then the reinforcement of that pattern (Barbie in ep. 5), before getting the present consequence of that pattern (Stolas in ep. 4).

Like, is it really all that surprising that he didn't? Just a quick reminder that Blitzø hates himself. It doesn't matter that Stolas directly told him that he can visit, because the pattern has already been established in Blitzø's mind: someone he cares about is in the hospital, directly or indirectly because of Blitzø himself, and when he tries to visit he gets told to fuck off and that no one wants him there. He's already internalized the message by that point.

And just to nip a particular counterpoint in the bud - "But he kept trying to visit Barbie, even though he kept getting thrown out!" Yes, he did. She's also his twin sister that he's known for his entire life and is either his only living family left, or his only living family left that he actually cares about. She, along with Fizz, are two of the most important people in Blitzø's life, with Loona rounding out the podium. In comparison, a guy that he knew for a single day 25 years ago, who he was hired to play with and told to rob, and then later established a transactional sexual relationship with that has been going for, what, a year at most? Not even close. Even if he does care about Stolas now, she's still been a more important person to him for longer.

On top of that, it's also very easy to see him deliberately choosing to try to visit Barbie because of Stolas' situation. With Stolas, it's a complicated relationship with a bunch of recent new, heavy complications on top of it, and there's a level of sincerity and vulnerability involved with Stolas that he's not ready for. With Barbie, he's already been thrown out who knows how many times, so there's less emotional risk to him if he tries to see her. It's taking the sure rejection instead of the uncertain instability. He's avoiding the more prominent and relevant issue because that's what he does.

Odette and Clara are a little overwhelmed hanging out with Emily's friends. As daughters of such a stern, no-nonsense businesswoman like Carmilla Carmine, they spend a good amount of their free time learning about the family business from her. Sure, they have their social groups back home, but neither have been in such a large clique of friends before.

Emily seems right at home. The bouncy, spirited young woman becomes even more alive among Verosika and her band. Emily weaves many hilarious and entertaining tales of summers past at the resort, and all the hijinks they used to get up to in their younger days. Things that tested the limits of Sera's patience, but were relatively harmless, in the grand scheme of things.

Things like turning the water in the pool red with food coloring one Halloween, so that it resembled blood. Or holding a Rent-A-Puppy event at the resort to raise money for one of Verosika's first road tours (the fur was everywhere for weeks). Or prank calling Sera at the front desk from various rooms in the resort, making outrageously nonsensical requests, even though those rooms were supposed to be vacant, sending the older woman into a frenzy of confused agitation.

All of it sounds very sneaky and conniving to the Carmine girls; as near-perfect daughters, neither of them have really ever misbehaved that much in their lives. Clara has a mischievous streak, but Odette's always managed to keep her in line and out of any real trouble. But after listening to Emily's stories, Clara in particular starts to get... ideas.

There's a little whisper in the back of Clara's brain. A little bug, needling its way into her ear, giving her all sorts of thoughts and plans and delicious schemes.

This week was supposed to be all about fun, after all. What would it hurt...to get up to a little trouble?

Odette hones in on that devilish grin of Clara's like a heat-seaking missile, ready to snuff it out.

"No!" Odette shrieks, smacking her hand down on the table in front of her. "Absolutely not!" They are all crowded into the biggest booth at the back of the hotel restaurant. Emily, Verosika, and the rest of the entourage jump at Odette's sudden outburst.

"Whaaaaaat?" Clara asks, voice full of fake whimsy. "I didn't even do anything yet!"

"Yeah, but you were thinking it!" Odette snaps back, jabbing her finger into Clara's nose, poking her harshly. Clara rubs her face in annoyance. "I know what it looks like when your brain starts getting ideas, little sister. I said N-O. NO!"

"You're not even going to listen to what I have to say before telling me it's a bad idea?" Clara asks, clasping her hands together and batting her eyelashes at Odette coquettishly.

"Come oooon," Verosika joins in, and the sound of the singer's voice makes Odette blush about 12 different shades of red, before going silent. "Let the girl cook! I, for one, am eager to hear what she's got in mind."

"What if...?" Clara starts, eyes turning forward and forehead clenching tight, as if she's deep in thought. She turns to face Emily. "Mom and Sera have been flirting with each other non-stop. Mom tries to be casual about it, but your sister hasn't taken her eyes off of her once since we got here. She’s laying the sauce on thick, showing off her muscles and stuff whenever Sera's around. It's too obvious. I haven't seen her get that type of way in years. Not even with our dad."

"Yeah..." Odette agrees, still not quite picking up what her sister is putting down. "So what?"

"We need to get them together!" Clara’s eyes are sparkling, practically bursting out of her head with excitement. "If neither one of those idiots will make the first move, then we just need to...gently (or not-so-gently) coax an interaction between them. Make one of them make the first move."

"Oooohooo, juicy!" Kiki, one of Verosika's roadies, pipes up. "What are you thinking, girly?"

"I don't know," Clara admits, shrugging. "I haven't gotten that far.”

“Oh! Oh!” Emily waves her hand, fidgeting in her seat to try and get her words out. “Maybe we could leave each of them a note from the other? Fake their signatures somehow?”

“Or…” Clara continues, with a wicked grin, “Odette and I could lock Mom out of our room in her swimsuit, so Sera has to bring her an extra key?”

The entire group hoots and hollers at that last idea. Even Odette. It seems so...out of character for the older Carmine sibling. But Clara is right. The flirting between Carmilla and Sera has gotten quite ridiculous up to this point. It's obvious they like one another...and frankly, Odette and Clara are getting tired of waiting and hoping for one of them to make a move. The situation is so needlessly hopeless.

"I will say..." Emily says, giggling into her hand. "If you forced my sister to interact with your mom when she's in that bathing suit, she might faint right on the spot. It's a risk, for sure. But it might be worth it just to see the look on her face before she passes out!"

Now the cogs and gears in Odette's own playful brain are turning. They are old and creaky and covered in proverbial rust from disuse...but this particular level of mischief is awakening something in her. Something she hasn't even thought of touching since she was a little kid.

Odette looks at Clara. Then at Emily. Then the rest of the group. Clara and Emily are then looking at each other, eyes so wide, and bouncing in their seats, so violently that they almost fall over out of sheer excitement.

God, are they really doing this? Odette is supposed to be the golden child; the one who always follows the rules, and listens to her elders, and does what she is told, no matter what!

But she's also an adult now, and that little girl who was taught for years to be prim and proper in boarding school is just clawing and raging and tearing at the walls to break free of her self-imposed prison. She can see a mini version of herself snarling and foaming at the mouth, fighting to get out.

Odette sighs. Loudly...exaggeratedly...like she's trying to at least pretend like she's still the most mature person in the room.

"I can't believe you guys are making me do this," Odette says, faking a level of annoyance that she doesn't actually feel. Clara punches her shoulder playfully, not buying her act. Odette chuckles, wrapping one arm around Clara's neck and giving her sister a noogie with her other fist, like when they were kids.

"You're not fooling me!!" Clara chortles, brushing up against her sister’s shoulder affectionately when Odette finally lets her get free. "Just admit it. The sound of adventure is calling!"

"If that's what you want to call it, sure," Odette acquiesces, resigning herself to Clara and the group's shenanigans. "I guess I'm in."

"YEEESSSSS!" Clara shouts, standing up in her seat, and pumping her fist obnoxiously in the air. Several of the restaurant patrons turn their heads to look at her, but Clara is so caught up in her own scheming, she doesn't even notice. The young woman has zero shame at this point.

Emily soon follows suit, so Clara won't be the odd duck out, and both girls continue to psyche each other up until Odette discretely asks their waitress for the check. The waitress is just a teenager, and she's been putting up with them for the entire afternoon. Odette makes sure to leave her a hefty tip for her troubles.

And with that, Operation Swimsuit is under way, and the group spends the rest of their time together concocting the most evil, wicked plan imaginable.

For Hazbin Hotel's upcoming season, I'm interested in seeing how sinners enter Wrath. Are their souls already warped from their times on Earth or do they transform after their deaths? This is my portrayal of the latter, my headcanon. I think it would be equally interesting if they were also dropped from a portal in the sky. Could add more stress to the whole ordeal of going to Hell. Was very happy with how these both turned out. They're rough, but it's been a long time since I last did character work. Decided to test out different programs and brush settings for these two.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: I love both Stolas and Blitzø. I'm super invested in this relationship. Both of them made mistakes, but both of them are also coming from places of trauma and previous fucked up interpersonal relationships. That being said, I don't really feel the need to point out how Blitzø fucked up, because so much of the fandom is so biased towards Stolas that everyone is already well aware of that part of the problem. I'm also very aware of the fact that Stolas has grown significantly as a character, but sometimes people in the audience forget the difference between what WE know, and what the CHARACTERS know. Now that that's out of the way...

Oh my god, THANK YOU. There was one particular line in Apology Tour that stuck out to me, especially because Blitzø's reaction wasn't what I hoped it would be.

Stolas: "I don't look down on you! How many times do I ha- when have I ever?!"

Oh, I don't know dude, maybe the entire first season?!

Episode 1: refers to Blitzø as "my little imp" during the phone call (using his bottom-of-the-hierarchy species as a cute pet name is..... bad. It's bad). Also just fully ignores the fact that Blitzø tells him that it's not a good time, that he doesn't understand what he's saying (more than once!) and clearly just agrees to the deal in order to deal with the more pressing issue of being shot at.

Episode 2: CONSTANTLY flirts with Blitzø using incredibly sexual language throughout the episode, even when Blitzø repeatedly tells him that he doesn't want to be flirted with while he's working. (That's not even going into how he completely ignores Octavia's emotions/reactions to what's going on around her and just focuses on himself and what he thinks is a good idea in the moment. That's two for two on episodes where his stunning lack of self-awareness shines through).

Isn't in episode 3 or 4. Though I will take a second to acknowledge one line in episode 3 - when Blitzø charges into the room and challenges Verosika and her crew, one of the succubi says "Is this little imp boy starting a demon duel?" Yet another example of imps being treated as lesser by other demons.

Episode 5: The constant heavy-handed flirting in public, again, even though Blitzø repeatedly tells him not to, again. On top of that, there's the "itty bitty imps like yourself" comment that he makes to Blitzø while in bed, and not even a minute later, tells him in cutesy UWU baby talk that he's "sowwy his cwients wiw have to wait" - not taking Blitzø or his work seriously. And, of course, we get Striker telling Blitzø that Stolas treats him like a plaything.....

Episode 6: ......aaaaaand the very next episode has Stolas literally calling Blitzø his "impish little plaything". Side note, but I feel like most discussions about Stolitz's dynamic and the imbalance present in it focuses on this line in particular, but not the rest of his behaviour throughout the whole first season. He is constantly making aggressively sexual comments, oftentimes right after being asked or told not to by Blitzø, sometimes after being told more than once.

Episode 7, he's actually fine. Hiding his face when Ozzie singles him out isn't great, but he had just been publicly embarrassed, and if you watch in the background, he does get up from the table (likely about to try to help Blitzø) right at the end of Verosika's bit, before he's interrupted by Asmodeus. And while I'm certain he really did just want to "talk, or watch a movie, or cuddle", I can also see how easy it would be for Blitzø to interpret that as him asking to Netflix and Chill, as it were.

(Also, not a major thing, but having a little plush imp doll as a kid (as seen in S2E1) feels.....really weird, to me? Like I know most posts on SocMed and reactions on YT just see it as cute, and I'm probably reading too much into it, and I know that IRL toy dolls and stuffed dolls of people are a common thing, but just the idea of a prince having a plush doll of a low-class citizen feels really bad. A literal plaything, if you will.)

Season 2, Episode 2: Not much, but even though they had a tiny bit of a fight (if you can even call it that) after Ozzie's, and even though they haven't been communicating super well, and even though he's concerned about finding Octavia, Stolas still finds an opportunity to make a sexual comment towards Blitzø.

Season 2, Episode 4: Ohhhhhhhhhh my god, I never even used to be mad about this, but the way that it got brought up in Apology Tour made me pissed. Stolas now getting upset about Blitzø not coming to rescue him when Striker kidnapped him? Telling him that he "couldn't even be bothered to come help me"? Fuck. Off. With. That. As a father of a daughter himself, you'd think that Stolas would be sympathetic to the fact that Blitzø was trying to help out his own daughter in that scene, especially considering that he had to wait 5 fucking years for a mandatory medical procedure. Of fucking course he's not going to skip out on that! And just the way he responds to that:

Stolas: Oh, ha, ha. Well, I do agree that is very important...But, I-

(and then he's cut off by Striker). I urge anyone and everyone to go rewatch that bit of the episode, because his tone of voice is just so dismissive. Like, "yes, yes, that's nice, now drop everything and come rescue me, which is more important". And that's before he even realizes that he's in serious danger!!!

Like, I'm sorry, but where the fuck does he get off getting mad at Blitzø for "always making it about sex"? Blitzø has only ever reacted to the sexual advances that Stolas was putting out - even from the very first hook-up, Stolas just assumed that Blitzø was there to seduce him, and Blitzø just went along with it as a way to distract him while he stole the book. He agreed to the transactional fucking in episode 1 while he was being shot at and was trying to get Stolas off his back. He's expressed annoyance towards Stolas' sexual advances in episodes 2 and 5 of season 1. And now suddenly it's Blitzø that makes it all about sex?!

And what do you mean, "How many times do I ha-" Have to what, buddy? Tell him that you see him as an equal? You haven't done that yet. Tell him that you love him? You did that whole conversation in pretty much the exact wrong order and shut down when he didn't react like you imagined in your head. Tell him that you think highly of him? You haven't done that. Not directly to him, not where he could hear, not before the end of that argument, right before forcibly teleporting him away from you, which, y'know, just reinforces Blitzø's earlier comment about treating him like one of his butlers, and how he "can't just dismiss [him]."

He may not have ever actively viewed Blitzø as inferior to him, but there's a LOT of internalized classism going on that I'm not sure he's even aware of.

One thing I'd like to add to all of 👆 that: I mentioned a bit about other people in Hell talking down to imps, but one thing I forgot to talk about is how Stolas himself views imps that aren't Blitzø. Quick list (entirely from memory):

Refers to Millie and Moxxie as "you littler ones" in Loo-Loo Land

Refers to I.M.P. collectively as "you little creatures" in Truth Seekers

The generally condescending and dismissive way he talks to the imps of the Wrath Ring in Harvest Moon Festival - if I'm remembering correctly, he also refers to them as little! Like I get it, he's crazy tall, but we all know that's not the only way to interpret that comment.

3.5 Since Stolas (and a big chunk of the fandom) went ahead and compared Blitzø's comments to Striker's, I'm gonna do the same to him! Those comments are so reminiscent of Striker saying "you little things ain't worth the clean-up" to Moxxie and Millie, also from Harvest Moon Festival.

4. Picking up, forcefully squeezing, and swinging around his imp butler while he was mad during his phone call with Stella in Seeing Stars. I'm not saying that he's abusive towards his staff, or anything like that - just that the very fact that he did it at all seemed to be totally subconscious, which in turn suggests that he doesn't realize how demeaning that is.

5. Actually, now that I think about it - the fact that he's so upset that specifically Blitzø didn't rescue him in Western Energy. The main reason he's alive and not bleeding out in the bottom of a mine shaft is because Millie and Moxxie showed up, and they only knew to go there and help him because Blitzø told them/they were there during the phone call. Like, does he even know their names? Is he even grateful that they helped? We don't know!

I saw someone in another thread say that he was essentially at the equivalent of the "I'm not racist, I don't even see colour!" stage of racism, and I completely agree. He doesn't realize all of these internalized prejudices he has, but they are ABSOLUTELY there.

Also, a few other points to build off of this & respond to other comments on this thread:

"But he didn't tell Stolas about the first time, and the Carmine-crafted gun that Striker had that can kill royal demons" - You mean the one that Moxxie took from him and still has in his possession at the end of Harvest Moon Festival? The one that Moxxie was shocked that Striker even managed to get his hands on? Remember, I.M.P. didn't know that Striker was working for anyone; logically, that means they would have assumed that he got the weapon entirely on his own, and something like that is both rare and expensive - imps don't typically "make it big" in Hell, and I can't imagine a powerful Overlord would be thrilled to give a weapon that could kill them to someone so far below them in status. With them taking it from him and keeping it at the end of the episode, it means that they would assume that he's no longer a serious threat. They had no way of knowing he was being bankrolled by a royal, with access to three more angelic weapons (two pistols and a knife) (four if you count the rope as well).

"Stolas: You knew someone was trying to assassinate me?" Uhhhhh, yeah? You were there for Loo-Loo Land, dude, you know that people are trying to assassinate you, like all the time. This isn't news in any way - and yes, Striker is generally more dangerous than any of the assassins that we saw in that episode, it still doesn't change the fact that you're already well aware that being rich and royal puts a target on your back. This is really unfair to get upset with Blitzø for. (I'm aware that this is an argument and sometimes you bring up unfair accusations in arguments and both of them were very heated and I shouldn't have to plaster every comment about this episode and this relationship with disclaimers that I'm not hating anyone, just expressing frustration.)

divorce au who did Odette and Clara meet at the hotel ?

Odette and Clara were on their way to rent some snorkeling equipment from the hotel and ran into Emily manning the front desk. They've seen her working about the hotel during their trip and strike up a conversation. She appears about their age, maybe a year or two younger, and they worry that Emily is all by herself working so much. Does her sister Sera ever give her a break?

"I like working here!" Emily says, full of much more enthusiasm than the average person working behind a desk. But Emily genuinely doesn't seem to mind. "I like making our guests happy...and I'm out of school right now, so honestly, I'd probably just be sitting at home bored if I wasn't here. And it gives my friends an excuse to visit me!"

Emily's friends turn out to be a gaggle of characters who are supposedly in a band. There are three men and five women, one of the women being the lead singer named Verosika Mayday. They visit Sera's beachside resort to play their show every year, so Emily normally hangs out with them after work. They want to make it big in the music biz one day, and Sera's guests are usually a pretty big crowd.

They also have some roadies who usually travel with them: a tall, dark, handsome man named Tex, who is Verosika's bodyguard. His girlfriend, Bee, does their costumes and makeup. Sometimes their other friend Loona also tags along, when her overprotective, adopted father will let her off work. He usually doesn't.

Emily asks if Odette and Clara want to join them in the hotel restaurant for lunch, because her shift is about to end. Odette and Clara consider that they were thinking about going to the spa with their mom later that day...she'd actually told them she was looking forward to it. The amount of people who are confused about why Millie is freaking out about falling pregnant REALLY reminds me how young a lot of y'all are

Just because you're happily married for years doesn't mean pregnancy is something to be excited about

Like I can come up with several reasons why Millie might be freaking out right now hold on lemme see:

- they are imps, living in a shitty apartment barely making ends meet, therefore they can't afford a baby

- Millie comes from a HUGE family and has baggage attached to that

- Millie has possibly suffered a miscarriage in the past and has trauma attached to pregnancy

- Millie knows this will make it difficult or even impossible to work at imp, both because it's a risk to the fetus, but even after birth it's a dangerous job they are risking their lives on the daily

- She might just not want to have kids, and knows that Moxxie probably does, and the conflict is as simple as that

- She might not really know if she wants this or not, but MORE than that just being pregnant is TERRIFYING. Your body is rapidly changing and that alone is so scary.

Like I know it's mostly young people and cis guys who are confused about this but I promise this is a VERY common response to finding out you're pregnant, no matter HOW long you've been in a committed, stable relationship.
