6. i actually did worry it was too subtle! in the panels of their childhood and on, i tried to portray the girl transitioning naturally throughout their lives together, but i think the most important panel is the second one, where she looks at the poster of a conventional family.

i had the dad and mom sort of mirror the children’s positions, holding hands. i thought a long time about what the poster should be of - at first i considered a woman? but then i thought it’s also valid to look at something and realize that’s what you’re not. so when she’s looking anxiously at this family, she’s perhaps thinking that this isn’t the future for her. maybe she doesn’t want to be the “dad” or the “husband” in this situation. and this scene is also accompanied by the line “but i didn’t do it right”... so i hoped people would be able to piece these clues together and recognize what i was going for!

AHH i’m so glad to hear that!! i’ve seen people interpret the song as something sad and bittersweet... and i understand that too! but i read an interview with mitski where she talks about how pink in the night is the feeling of being in love... and with this in mind, the vision of kissing someone again and again just because you want to do it right, and because you adore them so much, really struck a chord with me. i also loved this quote from her:

“...Heartbreak doesn't have to be a hard, horrible bad thing. It's just like ‘I'm so infatuated and in love that I feel myself crumbling... but in a good way!’”

How and when did ya join Tumblr?

Oh yikes

Well

In the very beginning, I was first introduced to Tumblr by the girl I was dating at the time. I was in undergrad, probably around 2016 or so? I didn't even have a facebook back then so social media was new to me. I made a little page where I reblogged dumb nerdy memes and follower my girlfriend and her friends' accounts. I deleted it soon after. It was pretty lack-luster

Then. In November of 2018 (I'm looking at my archive, like hell I have this memorized) I made my main account. I knew Tumblr had a big trans community and I had just started transitioning so I made an account to help me find resources. That's why the name is HelpMeBecomeMe

I had an adult blog back when we could show things like that. It has since been deleted

Then in September of 2020 A Knight and a Scoundrel takes its first breaths of life. Honestly this page has a much larger follower count and is where I interact with people the most. The original account was just the base

Lastly, December of 2021, I made [REDACTED] which is my somewhat mediocre attempt at bringing the adult blog back theres like 4 posts. Its hard circumventing flagging. But I do thrive on praise... so. Nudes for those who can find them
