Sleepy Ash/Kuro

🐈‍⬛​Kuro very much catches on to his growing feelings for you before they even manage to escalate into an obsession. Already at that stage he feels a twinge of fear though. Though the powers that once forced him to transform into a bloodthirsty beast at night have long been exorcised, the blood from the past still clings to him. The Servamp who represents Sloth still feels the guilt for the lives he took and disgust for even his own existence as he thinks of himself as nothing but a monster. You're a human, your life still joyful and pure so there is no place for someone like him there. That is something that Kuro chants within himself for a very long time but with the affection and attachment comes the desire to protect you. His life has already been ruined and he will never get it back but nothing bad should happen to you. So without even consciously noticing it at first, Kuro starts stalking you. At night in his human form and at day in his catform as the sunlight does not allow for him to remain as a human. It is a commitment so unlike him as he is usually always the one too lazy to move much to begin with yet here he is, trailing behind you and observing you with his sluggish gaze.

🐈‍⬛​It all is initiated without his intention as you one day notice the tiny black cat trailing right behind you and kneel down to pet him. Kuro never had any intentions to interact with you as he feared to only worsen his feelings yet you have done so by himself and a mixture of yearning for your attention and his all-present laziness he decides to not reject it. So he starts using his catform to his advantage, getting all the bellyrubs and pets that he desires. He himself is quite surprised by how much he longs for your affection, constantly rubbing his head against yours and taking a nap on your lap. Still, he tries to not let any of it get to his head. After all you only love this little, black cat and not the person he truly is. Kuro fears the reveal of his true self to you, fears that you would abandon him rightfully so for the monster that he is. So he veils the truth and tries to compromise between his guilty consciousness and his steadily growing obsession, swears to always be the adorable cat to you and never let you know what he really is. It's for the best, he tells himself as he has to manoeuvre between his own desires and what would be best for you.

🐈‍⬛​Surely he would not be jealous now, would he? Kuro walks into this all with the naive mindset that he would not feel jealous of people around you, especially since he has resigned himself to the fact that he should never be romantically involved with you. So addicted to your affection has he gotten at this point already though that he starts sulking the moment that you turn your attention and affection to someone else. It's nothing short of ridiculous as you don't even know that he is actually not a cat but a person yet unfortunately for him feelings are not something he can properly rationalise. If someone has gotten very close to you he is able to sniff it out immediately, his eyes narrowing as he lets out a sulky meow when you spot him on your way home again. In his cat form he tends to rub himself all over you whenever he knows that you've been too close to someone, some stupid instinct telling him to scent you. In his real form he doesn't try to let his jealousy get the better of him, clinging to the thinning rope of logic yet it happens that he gets subdued in which case he tends to scare the person whose scent has been all over you for a while now.

🐈‍⬛​Sleepy Ash has been someone who has been running away for centuries now, avoiding conflict under all means necessary as he doesn't want to fight. Partially because he can't find himself bothering enough to take action and partially because he doesn't want to murder anyone as it brings back bad memories of his past where he didn't have control over himself. With his obsession comes a new form of determination he is nor familiar with though, one that urges him to protect you. With that urge comes a new form of aggression that gets triggered whenever there is something or someone that threatens to harm your life. There shall be no humans harmed from him as they are much more powerless compared to him but Kuro is more willing to reveal his claws if it means scaring potential harm away from you. All actions are taken at night where he is able to use his human form and is for that stronger and more capable. That doesn't mean that he won't get aggressive if someone is bothering during the daylight, his fur bristling as he starts hissing and digging his claws into their legs, tearing through the material of their jeans.

🐈‍⬛​Misguided you allow Kuro to stay at your house when he wishes to, believing him to be nothing but a small cat after all. He has a free entry to your house whenever he desires to do so and spends many nights there, basking in an unfamiliar comfort he almost forgot he could have despite everything that has happened to you. It's the only place he can go to after all, meaning that Kuro intends to let you live in your current home. An abduction for that would look different as he would lock you away within your own house and if the timing of such an accident is especially terrible which forces him to act so drastically to begin with, it is very likely that this is how you find out abour who he truly is. Kuro tries to ignore the look of betrayal, confusion and shock on your face as you gaze at him before he pushes you inside and barricades the door so that you can't get out. He is adamant in his decision to keep you in your own house instead of bringing you somewhere else. It is easier and more convenient as he has no alternative place he could bring you to. You are no bird in a cage though as he allows you to walk around freely otherwise. After all you can take better care of yourself than he can.

🐈‍⬛​That clinginess remains even after he has revealed his true body to you, only that now instead of a tiny cat there is a lanky man wrapped around you. Whatever time he has, he spends in your place. The moment you return from work you already find him sitting on the ground as if he has been waiting for you to return all this time. You are in fact on point with your assumption as Kuro indeed spends an entire sday trying to make time fly by faster until you return. He's not as immature as to stop you from leaving at all but that doesn't mean that he isn't sulking the entire time you are gone. On most day he manages, on some it proves to be too much for him though which then ends with him leaving the house in his catform to search for you. He's not doing well when the two of you have arguments as he already is a very conflict-avoiding person. He either tries to appease you with his cuteness by turning into a cat or he actually disappears, unable to handle that scorching disappointment with which you gaze at him. Your chest is a huge comfort for him and not in a pervy way. He just loves laying his head on it or curling on it in his black cat form, his favorite pillow to nap on.

Licht Jekylland Todoroki

🎹​He is an angel. Something that Licht genuinely believes himself to be, a being meant to be pure and for that meant to punish those who are impure, mainly vampires. As he is already disconnected from reality as it is, it should be no surprise that he perceives his own obsession with you from a wildly different angle than anyone around him. In his eyes you are someone pure and innocent, someone who deserves his affection, attention and protection. What does that mean? It basically means that in Licht's eyes you two are very much going to happen and all he has to do is work towards that goal now. You remain untouchable for a while now but for a very embarrassing reason. This poor guy is actually incapable of acting like a human being. It's like having his parents watch his first concert all over again as he almost blanks out from the stress he is feeling, his movements stiff and his words oundling like the broken records of a dying robot all whilst you give him a half-baffled and half-concerned look whilst he is stumbling and tripping over his words. The only saving grace is that his hair doesn't turn completely white again but the shame lives on forever as Lawless is rolling on the ground laughing.

🎹​Licht has no problem texting you or even writing letters to you. It's once you are standing in front of him that he becomes an absolute mess and embarrasses himself over and over again. He beats himself up for his anacceptable behavior and is quick to beat Lawless up when his Servamp is mocking him and making fun of him for the way he acts whenever you are around. That terribly nervous behavior tends to fool you though as Licht is capable of having two faces when it involves you. That anxious behavior that has almost caused him to pass out when confronted by you all but vanishes whenever it comes to possible love rivals and enemies. His disconnection from reality has thoroughly convinced him that the only one worthy of being by your side is going to be him and for that it is his job to protect you from all vampires and to keep all those who would never be fully worthy of you away from you. Even in the face of his crippling nervousness, Licht never stops with his aspirations though which means that whilst he may not be able to properly woo you as of now, he will still see it through that there is no one in your life who could threaten to take his rightful place.

🎹​Gosh, Licht gets incredibly offended whenever there is someone who dares to try to claim his place as your partner. To him it seems so natural to not only think but actually believe that the two of you are something that is just waiting to happen so he is always so full of indignation whenever someone doesn't see what he can see. Are people just dumb or actually blind? It's actually quite over the top, the way he holds a full speech with that offended look on his face as he lectures someone for daring to push him away from you and for even thinking that they could be worthy of you. Once that childish and comedical outburst is done, Licht expects the situation to be resolved already. After all now the other person must have realised their mistake. So imagine his horror when he is dismissed as a crazy guy, his words not having the affect he was hoping they would have. That is when that infamous temper of Licht gets the better of him as now this all turns into some very bad insult against him. He may not be as violent as he would be whenever he faces a vampire but there is going to be some pain inflicted as he now goes after whoever thinks they can play the home-wrecker and tear the two of you apart.

🎹​Let's not forget that Kuro gave Licht the nickname of "Violent Angel" which tells someone really all that they need to know. In Licht's mind he is only really doing what is right as it is his duty as an angel to defend earth against all evil. So far that has only ever included the demons known as vampires but it is very likely that Licht will start sensing other evil forces in humans around you due to his obsession with you. Obviously he shows a greater level of mercy against actual humans than against vampires if they were to attack you but he is going to be significantly harsher when there is someone that he views as a threat. Threats include those who attempt to snitch you away from him whilst all but ignoring the fact that only he is meant for you and obviously those who torment you in one way or another. As it is an angel's duty to protect the innocent, Licht is very protective of you and for that willing to indulge in violent tendencies all in the name of your safety. Normally whenever he believes that there is someone he needs to defend you against he tries to rely as little as possible on Lawless as he wants to earn all the credit and not have you thank his servamp.

🎹​You may not know it yet but Licht has already your shared future with him. Yes, the two of you are going to live together, get engaged and marry eventually. Delusions can do wither quite a lot to prolong your freedom or speed everything up depending on the person obsessed with you. In Licht's case you are secure as he holds on to his delusions as the ultimate truth that will come true in only a few years. You can live by yourself for the time being as all of that will be different soon enough. It is after all not your fault when someone approaches you and attempts to steal you away from him, your mere presence is radiant enough after all to steal everyone's heart. There is one major downfall to it all though and that is his belief that you will be completely fine whenever he abruptly has to lock you away when there is the real evil in the form of a vampire. You must know what he is knowing after all and with that huge misconception in mind you have been abducted and locked away in his house already at least once whilst he hunted down the demon with Lawless. One can only imagine his major confusion to why you are so disturbed afterwards when he returns and lets you leave again.

🎹​Licht is either the most pathetic man you have ever seen in your life or the most ferocious and initially there is no somewhat healthy balance. When there is no reason for him to worry he is so nervous in front of you that he almost blacks out and when there is a reason for him to feel threatened he quickly resorts to threats and violence which pushes you away. It takes him a while to work through his own nerves before he manages to have a somewhat normal conversation with you, though he is talking about him being an angel and you two being meant to be with only adds to your silent disturbance you're feeling. He plays the piano for you and that a lot and if you don't know how to play one yourself he will insist on teaching you. Since music is a passion of his that is reflected in the way he teaches you though, insisting for the two of you to continue even if you are in no mood anymore. Lawless lives to rile Licht up by spending time with you, one sure way to always have his Eve running up and attack him due to his impulsive temper. He has a huge soft spot for you despite his violent tendencies to the point where one kiss often throw him right back to his nervous and rigid state.

Lawless/Hyde

🦔​Lawless is someone you would do best to avoid under normal circumstances as he is very dangerous. Yet how were you supposed to know that the little hedgehog you found one day on the street would be more than just a cute animal. Even after the influence of Licht there is going to be a lot of drama by managing to make him fall so much in love with you simply because you overwhelm him. He hasn't loved anyone since Ophella has sacrificed her life for a kingdom that was eventually doomed anyways, causing him to see no meaning in the life of others as well as his own life. A part of Hyde has genuinely believed that he would never be able to love anyone again until you so suddenly appear and that leaves him wrangling with a lot of conflicted emotions. A part of him refuses to go through that heartbreak again and simply wants to humiliate and embarrass you as some means to vent out his own frustration yet another part of him longs for love and for someone to love him. No matter how much he tries to smother that desire of his, it stays awake within him yet in his denial to accept that he decides to only inflict more suffering upon you.

🦔​There is serious damage that Hyde inflicts upon your life all in a build-up where he plans to reveal himself to you. Until then though he simply continues to be that cute little hedgehog that freely appears in front of you to witness the sorrow and the agony you go through, weaknesses you may not dare to show in front of others. What Lawless essentially does is isolate you from your friends and even your own family, all in the name of simply having you suffer for putting him through such excruciating emotions. This is a personal fight that he intends to crush you at, no matter how petty and unfair it may be in the eyes of anybody else. Honestly, Lawless is more of a big and anonymous bully than anything else as he even leaves letters in your mailbox to rub even more salt into your bleeding heart with the words written in ink on the paper. The moment you throw them away and decide to not read them anymore, he’s in the throes of petty anger as he bombards you with even more letters. Deep down all he wants from you is attention but he refuses to gain that attention by revealing his heart and his feelings. He is not going to be weak anymore and he won’t get hurt a second time.

🦔That possessive jealousy is through the roof with Hyde though to the point where he had zero control of it. He may tell himself that he drifts so many grudges between you and everyone you love simply because he’s a sadistic bastard and wants to see you suffer but there is another very big motive that has been driving him to do all of this. He just really, really can’t stand to see you giving your affection to someone else. He almost had it all with Ophella only for it to be ruined because she thought that she had to sacrifice herself for the greater good and he fears that you’ll do a similar thing as humans just seem to be that foolish. If there is no one and nothing in your life worth sacrificing for though, then you won’t repeat the mistake that Ophella made. Perhaps that is a terrible motivation for the isolation he pushes you into but Hyde has been deeply traumatised by the death of Ophella and now that he experiences similar emotions once more he refuses to be passive about it. If there are people that he can’t drive away with rumors and the creation of false clues, he will just be straightforward and threaten them or severely injure them for them to listen.

🦔As someone who has started to devalue lives and has taken the lives of his previous Eves, Lawless is familiar with the act of murder. Under the service of Ophella he has never or very rarely murdered people but you will not receive the same luxury that she received. Too much time has happened since then and there has been too much that has broken within his heart since then. The truth is that he is not the same person anymore that he used to be and experiencing intense emotions of infatuation and obsession only seems to twist Hyde even more. With that all getting absorbed within the very fabric of his existence he has no problem getting his hands bloody as he fully acts on his self-centered nature. Those who are pillars of comfort to you and refuse to leave your side will be tormented and murdered in an act of jealousy by him. Those who harm you and threaten to take your life away will go through even worse torture as Lawless will guarantee them a slow and painful death for daring to even attempting to hurt you. There is a decent amount of people who die due to his jealousy or his deeply-rooted paranoia of having you die on him too.

🦔In his hedgehog form, Hyde has gotten familiar with your home and he must say that he has grown rather fond of it. In this space he has witnessed you despairing, crying and building yourself up once more as memories forge a nostalgic connection he builds with this place. Very similar to Sleepy Ash, Lawless has no permanent home where he could keep you and he doubts that Licht would be nice enough to offer him a place where he could keep you. So your house will do for now. His own form of abduction begins the moment he transforms in front of you from his hedgehog form into his real form in a way that is so typical for him as someone who adores a good reveal. Similar to Sleepy Ash he is unable to isolate you permanently as he too has a contract that keeps him busy, meaning that you are still free to roam outside. He is a lot less laid-back with it than the Servamp of Sloth is though. The moment he is back he is busily interrogating with whom you were talking, where you were and even asks you to give him your phone to see if you have texted or called anyone during his absence. Otherwise he pretty much just uses your space as if he owns the place and not you.

🦔His earliest treatment of you leaves lasting scars that become very obvious to Hyde the more he gradually starts accepting his feelings for you. Once the denial stops he is even able to analyse his love for you as something very dangerous but at that point both of you are already in too deep and he has done too much so he simply decides to carry on as he has done before. There are certain values that he tries to relearn after opening his heart for love again but it takes him time. He really tries to be nice to you but it tends to backfire quickly due to his tendency to make fun of you, often poking a sensitive spot that only hurts you in the process. When he gets upset, he tends to bite you and drink your blood. There’s also still the very obvious problem of his uncontrollable jealousy and possessiveness. A lot of problems that all came in the form of an adorable hedgehog to you. Hyde is willing to work on himself though even if he doubts that he can ever return to the person he once used to be. He tries his hardest though, cheering you up whenever you are down or constructing a small theatre play at home for you to forget about whatever stress you’re going through.

Tsubaki

🦊If you thought that Hyde was bad, just wait for Tsubaki. The eight Servamp, the forgotten Servamp. Tsubaki very much doesn’t believe his obsession with you to be anything that is going to last. After all it is a common pattern that has established itself throughout the years. That there’s something that is going to catch his interest for a while, that he’ll indulge in it and have his laugh out of it before he grows bored of it. That’s how it has always been. Until now at least. The vampire waits and waits for the moment where he will inevitably grow bored of you and discard you like a used toy whilst moving on yet that familiar suffocation of this spark never happens. It just doesn’t end… and suddenly the spark turns into a full blown forest fire. This is new. This is terrifying. This is simply just ecstasy. Tsubaki just can’t help the uncontrollable cackles that escape him as he lets that obsession consume him, the wine carrying the dooming sound over to you until you feel the hairs on your neck standing up, sensing the predator that stalks now faster than ever before closer to wrap his teeth around your neck. You’ve lost the hunt before it has even started though.

🦊You are immediately someone Tsubaki wants to possess and for that he has to isolate you completely from everyone so that every part of you can belong to him. As he has no qualms about killing innocent people there is a very precarious risk that he will murder even relatives and friends without batting an eyelid and all of it ultimately just boils down to how much he can stand them when he firsts meets them. He’s stalking you every minute that he can and if he can’t do that himself he asks one of his vampires to take over his job for him and to report back to him later. Extremely hyperfixated on your every little movement and word which gets uncomfortable fast if you’re already in captivity at that point since he’s staring at you with those red eyes without blinking and randomly starts giggling with that sick grin on his face. He has no sense nor respect for any boundaries you have established for yourself as he just does what he feels like doing. He’s touching you when he wants to touch you and he takes your stuff with him when he wants to do so. There’s nothing you can do to stop him, you rebelling is probably only going to abuse him more.

🦊Tsubaki is familiar with the feeling of despair, loneliness and anger all induced within him after Kuro killed the creator of the Servamps. What he isn’t familiar with but can add to the list of unsavory emotions is jealousy. The first time he gets exposed to it, he handles it terribly. His eyelid twitches, his grin grows crooked and broken giggles escape him as he pulls out his katana. He immediately slashes the poor person who has awoken that terrible itching within him and believes the problem to be down only for that feeling to reappear the next time you act too cozy with someone. Tsubaki just kills over and over again until people are too scared to talk to you and only then does one of the vampires working for him start explaining to him what he is exactly feeling. Instead of vowing to work on himself though, Tsubaki only heightens his efforts to keep you nice and isolated. He absolutely despises jealousy if that nightmare-inducing cackle and grin shouldn’t have given it away by now. It feels like swallowing bitter poison and he wants none of it. So what better way than to grip the problem by its roots and yank it out for good so that it can never bother him again?

🦊It has already been briefly mentioned but Tsubaki doesn’t care for human lives, whether they’re innocent or guilty. He kills those you cherish depending on whether he finds their vibes amusing or annoying and that makes him very unpredictable as he goes with his feelings rather than any logical approach as long as he knows that the other person is nothing to fear. It’s all entertaining up to the point where someone actually hurts you seriously and he has flashbacks to the death of his creator which activates the switch within him. Any trace of truly dark humor vanishes as his face becomes blank for a moment, red eyes focused on your form before they all but tremble as his pupils turn to thin slits. Don’t mistake him even once for someone who doesn’t have a plan as he has been living for centuries already and has learned how to plot truly sinister plans. There’s no easy and quick death that he grants such people as they deserve to suffer slowly until they all but beg for hell only for him to prolong their agony on this earth for a while longer until he finally sends them off to the other side. He likes to tell you about his methods, talking about it like it’s a fun story.

🦊Tsubaki is definitely going to abduct you sooner than later as his jealousy and possessive attributes play the major roles in that decision. He actually finds a place where he can keep you and asks of his vampires to organise the place enough for you to live there before he boldly approaches you and whisks you away. He doesn’t even knock you out, he wants you awake because he finds your reactions so incredibly amusing and that consistent giggling only adds to your growing fear as he jumps from building to building with you in his arms. He keeps you firmly locked away in his place and completely cut off from human society and the few relatives who might still be left alive. People like Sakuya tend to keep you company when Tsubaki realises that you’re feeling lonely though that is obviously not the company that you were hoping for. It’s also people like Sakuya who buy you hygiene products and groceries as you aren’t allowed to leave the place you are kept in. There’s very little space you have to hide away whenever Tsubaki returns which ultimately just means that you have no means to get your privacy as he always intrudes and interferes whenever he feels like it.

🦊Tsubaki tends to have a peculiar way of showing his affection to you. He’s constantly touching you curiously, exploring you as his hands roam over your body. He bites you randomly at whatever place is available. Not even with the concrete goal to drink blood but just because he’s feeling like it, his bite marks visible all over your skin. On the day he actually kidnaps you, he creates the weather phenomenon of the sunshower, in the Japanese folklore known to be sign that a kitsune is getting married and he knows exactly what he’s doing. His laughter haunts you sometimes even in your sleep all because he just cannot stop bursting into giggles when he’s around you, whether you’re actually even doing something is completely irrelevant. There are a few times you have tried to escape only for someone from his subclass or from Tsubaki himself to be dragged back. 90% of the time he lets you go unpunished because he found it stimulating but it’s the other 10% that soon frighten you to try again as he broke both of your legs without even blinking, musing aloud out to himself that this game is starting to feel to repetitive for his taste.

in japan there exists an establishment called kindergarten noir, where children can often be seen running around in the playground out front. though it may look unassuming—this is the safest kindergarten in the world, daily attacked by assassins (such as leo) yet never having lost one single child. rita is one of the staff members, all of which are former convicts with more kills than their age in years and enough baggage to weigh down a jet. her only goal in life? to find a hot boyfriend (and definitely NOT her nicotine addicted swindler colleague). but before that, there’s something that must be done at any cost—protect the children.

the balance in this manga is actual, literal perfection. it’s officially classified as a comedy, and yet there’s a real seriousness behind the characters and their missions that makes it so, so emotional (the end of the asakusa arc…). not only that, but there seems to be a lovebug going around, and of course it’s not complete without the resident manga otaku (luke). the “elite” from another level in fighting aren’t set apart from the others in the kindergarten, either—the characters are constantly unified and there for each other which only made it worse when [redacted].

Servamp by Strike TANAKA

shirota mahiru is a very simple person. if you see a lonely cat, you pick it up, right? but what if the cat is a vampire, or rather, servamp, and he's just been dragged into the complex world of the supernatural (y'know, vampires, werewolves, demon children splitting in half)? with tensions growing between the seven and the “eighth”, the servamps draw closer to war. and, thinking simply, mahiru and his neet vampire kuro are the only ones who can stop it—and not without help, of course. now, how much of that was a lie?

word is that servamp is ending this year which, nooo…but holy shit is it a good series. everything escalates really really quickly (and ridiculously but that's the charm) but each arc is obviously carefully thought out (sakuya……lilly……ophelia……tsurugi……). the complexity makes it a little hard to follow sometimes, but seeing the way the characters struggle to keep their morals and navigate relationships with each other and more stuff i can't fit here is so, so worth it.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead by Aso Haro and Takata Kotaro

tendo akira has a definite zombie apocalypse role—the guy who’s just happy not to go to work. having had his dreams crushed by an exploitative corporation, akira would readily take a zombie apocalypse over another day in the office. when his prayers are answered, he realizes he’s had no free time to be anything other than an employee. so what does he do? make a bucket list, of course! after a reunion with college friend kenchiro ryuzaki, the two travel japan and meet other survivors—shizuka, a strategist whose dream is to become a doctor, and beatrix, a foreigner and samurai who came to japan with bright eyes. hordes and manipulative former bosses may follow them, but they can’t fall to their level—because they’d much rather be eaten by zombies than miss out on a chance to live.

i first found out about this manga through the anime (which is phenomenal but beware for your mental health). the way it kicks off really set the tone—akira tries confessing to his coworker, but it goes nothing like he’d ever plan for—that bittersweet start had me hooked throughout the manga. a lot, if not all, of the circumstances are nothing short of ridiculous, my favorite examples being the zombie shark (defeated by electric punch) and the government robots (defeated with the help of a gamer girl). above all, the bad guys aren’t the zombies! it’s—you guessed it—capitalism (yay!).

The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All by Sumiko Arai

highschool gyaru oosawa aya is set apart from the rest of her glamorous friends by (mostly) one thing—her music taste. deviating far from the typical, fresh j-pop that everyone seems to listen to, aya prefers her much-treasured american indie rock bands. koga mitsuki, who quickly earns her reputation as “the prince”, is the same way, except she’s on the opposite side of the school spectrum. but it just so happens that mitsuki, one of those “loner-types”, sits right next to aya in class. when their paths cross for real at the record shop where mitsuki works, a case of mistaken identity is the first thing that sets off their relationship—but when you break it down, they’re just two people who really love music.

there are two things that i absolutely adore in this manga. a) MUSIC IS A BIG FOCUS. AHHHH if you can’t tell im also obsessed with music so (btw on spotify i have a playlist of all the songs featured in the manga if you’d like to take a look). really loved the exploration with mitsuki and aya’s feelings about music and also mitsuki’s uncle AND kanna too. and b) the art style is so captivating…the use of green, and especially neon green at that, is so so cool. it kind of reminds me of glitter pen ink with all its shiny-ness. flashy teen romances are definitely not my thing but this series…

Hirano and Kagiura by Harusono Shou

kagiura akira has never been good at waking up early, despite all his early basketball practices. luckily, he's got his new school dormmate hirano taiga to help him get out of bed. but as the school semester progresses, kagiura begins to realize something—he is horribly, hopelessly, in love with hirano. when he figures out hirano doesn't return his feelings, they enter a compromise; for ten seconds a day, kagiura is allowed to touch him with more affection than just between “friends”. starstruck, kagiura is willing to give him all the time he needs to come to terms with his feelings. but hirano isn't even sure of them himself—kagiura is so, so close to his heart, but are those feelings really romantic? and just how long is he okay with making him wait? and when will they be past the point of trying?

how do i even start to describe this manga. every single chapter i read, there were at least three times i had to put my phone down and take a deep breath. why? because they are so cute rahhhhhh. kagiura’s initial underlying uncertainty about his feelings growing into something he's more sure about is. an amazing reflection of his maturity. meanwhile hirano is still catching up, trying to sort through everything but still cheering his kagi-kun (that's so affectionate i’m gonna cry) on. and obviously, because this is bl and who are we kidding, there's niibashi and hanzawa for comical outsider pov commentary (while i'm on that pipeline, i adore how hanzawa knows and trying his best to be supportive).

“but bee, i thought you had seven recs?” i do, but unfortunately i am lazy af and forgot to write the last summary for given (kizu natsuki). it’s still one of my favorites though. music, romance, and of course, angst. yes it’s bl, shhh. i also highly recommend the bungou stray dogs series (asagiri kafka and harukawa sango) but since that’s a little more widely known (and we trend once a month, if yk yk), i’m not gonna get into it.

Papa Louie is putting drugs into all of his food and never told the player that so they just go and make the food with the X-sauce in it while he does and dimension hops for more.

This is giving me more ideas for the Papa Louie Servamp au but I need to figure out some sort of storyline because JESUS CHRIST PAPA!!!! WOW!

6. i actually did worry it was too subtle! in the panels of their childhood and on, i tried to portray the girl transitioning naturally throughout their lives together, but i think the most important panel is the second one, where she looks at the poster of a conventional family.

i had the dad and mom sort of mirror the children’s positions, holding hands. i thought a long time about what the poster should be of - at first i considered a woman? but then i thought it’s also valid to look at something and realize that’s what you’re not. so when she’s looking anxiously at this family, she’s perhaps thinking that this isn’t the future for her. maybe she doesn’t want to be the “dad” or the “husband” in this situation. and this scene is also accompanied by the line “but i didn’t do it right”... so i hoped people would be able to piece these clues together and recognize what i was going for!

AHH i’m so glad to hear that!! i’ve seen people interpret the song as something sad and bittersweet... and i understand that too! but i read an interview with mitski where she talks about how pink in the night is the feeling of being in love... and with this in mind, the vision of kissing someone again and again just because you want to do it right, and because you adore them so much, really struck a chord with me. i also loved this quote from her:

“...Heartbreak doesn't have to be a hard, horrible bad thing. It's just like ‘I'm so infatuated and in love that I feel myself crumbling... but in a good way!’”
