Do you still like big time rush or has James ruined them for you?

i have absolutely no idea how long ago this was from but like. y'all what even is this offhand ask lmao ( ; ⚆ _ ⚆ )

but alright screw it, just to set the record straight: i loved Big Time Rush lots and lots, that much is obvious. the nick show itself was such an integral part of my childhood, and i absolutely have no regrets about rediscovering the band last 2020 and diving in headfirst right into the deep end *Hot Summer by Heffron Drive starts blasting out* of their music and inevitably joining the fandom. i'm especially forever thankful for all the interesting experiences and fun projects and amazing friends i've made along the way, so i'm sincerely always going to have a certain fondness for BTR in the deepest crevices of my vv heart and soul.....

although yes, certainly *that* whole situation and other such related unfortunate controversies had kinda soured it to the point where i got uncomfortable calling myself a rusher—but that ultimately wasn't what made me fall out, it was just plain 'ol ✨burnout✨ idk keeping up with the fandom just got a little bit too hectic and way too toxic for me, so i moved on to other things better for my peace of mind. anyway, i'm mostly into cool J-pop stuff and ofc my most beloved svensk pojkband FO&O nowadays (also for language-learning purposes hehe :^D) and tbh these have been so incredibly wonderful and healing for me.....but i confess, i still kinda miss BTR and check in on them from time to time. hell, i even have a whooole bunch of chaotic BTR ocs that casually live rent-free in my mind now and forever and i'm constantly tempted to return to this rotting blog just so I can endlessly infodump lore abt them but i'm Annoying™ and who'd want that anyway soooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

so yes, i do love Big Time Rush. despite everything, i still like the show and the music, i like all the silly wacky unhinged creations and nostalgic memories i have of it, i like the fandom generally and seeing notifs still pop up on this inactive blog as the ever-faithful rushers continue to thrive and be inspired by the band and its legacy (shoutout to all the new-wave tumblrushers hehe i see u guys much love and hugs and i hope y'all keep up all the fun vibes and creativity here mwah xoxo (⁠*⁠＾⁠3⁠＾⁠)⁠/⁠～⁠♡), and i really don't wanna allow anything to ruin all those good feelings i got from them, even if that means being critical and letting go of certain aspects. i don't have to love everything about it, really. just enough for me is hopefully enough ❤️‍🩹

Hello, comrades! This is the official announcement of an upcoming fandom event in the COD:MW reboot space here on Tumblr: Nikolai Appreciation Week! A whole week dedicated to creating fan works and sharing love for one and only Russian pilot, informant and one smart, handsome, irreplaceable devil (Nikolai himself absolutely did not write the intro).

Day 1: For the Last Time By Vesyolye Rebyata (The Jolly Fellows)

In the lead-up to the 1980 Moscow Olympics, the USSR released an album of Russian covers of popular Western songs. Among them was this track: light, melodic, and seemingly tender at first. Yet it stands as one of the most haunting songs ever produced in the Soviet Union.

The reason lies in its origins. The original version of this song is featured in Carlos Saura’s film Raise Ravens (Cría Cuervos), which tells the unsettling story of an eight-year-old girl who loses both of her parents. Convinced she somehow caused their deaths, her grief twists into a morbid fascination with death and loss, slowly pulling her away from reality, even as, all around her, a brutal dictatorship crumbles. Day 2: Grass Near the Home By Zemlyane (The Earthlings)

At the height of the Cold War, the United States released Star Wars, forever altering global pop culture. The USSR answered in its own unexpected way: not with tales of battles between good and evil, but with a song about space that doesn’t mention conflict at all.

There’s a sly undertone to this, of course, but the message remains striking: instead of contesting comparisons that painted the USSR as an “Evil Empire,” the song urges us to rise above the fight and remember that out in space, we’re all children of the same fragile planet. No matter where our rockets lift off from, we all share the same quiet longing for home.

Day 3: It Pleases Me that I am Not Your Hurt Performed by Alla Pugacheva

In the 1970s, the Soviet Union released The Irony of Fate, a film that became a cultural phenomenon. With its glittering cast, the sex symbols of their day, the movie spins a love triangle where, after navigating everyday mishaps and deep-seated fears, the characters finally stumble into love.

The film is so filled with songs, it borders on being a musical. Yet there’s a curious irony: though it’s a story about love, its soundtrack is a tapestry of melancholy ballads about breakups, betrayals, and loss. The centerpiece of it all was entrusted to the Soviet pop icon — Russia’s own Madonna. Set to verses by one of the most celebrated poets of the Silver Age, this song in a fairy tale about love begins with a line that cuts straight to the bone:

One of the Soviet Union’s most famous wartime songs isn’t about victory or glorious battles at all — it’s a song about separation, death, and fragile hope. When it first appeared, officials pushed back: it sounded “too sorrowful” for times of war. But that very sorrow, its raw and honest tenderness, struck closest to the hearts of soldiers longing for home and the ones they loved.

Day 5: But this is Not Enough Performed by Sofia Rotaru

The words of this light, seemingly happy song were familiar to Soviet audiences even before the song itself was released. They first heard these verses in 1979, spoken in Tarkovsky’s film Stalker — lines written by the director’s own father.

It’s a quiet, philosophical reflection from a man tempered by life, mourning the things time has taken and can never return. Beneath its gentle, joyful melody lies a bittersweet sorrow hidden in the lines:

Day 7: Don’t Sleep on the Edge Traditional Folk Song

One of the most widespread lullabies in the Russian language tells of a world divided into two realms: the “familiar,” safe and tamed by human hands, and the “other”—alien, perilous, ruled by spirits and sickness.

In the song, a parent warns their child of the dangers lurking in that foreign domain. This threat takes the shape of a wolf, waiting for the baby to stray too close to the edge of the cradle so it can snatch them away into the dark forest. Perhaps that’s why this lullaby is so often compared to the plot of a horror story.

This upcoming May will mark the 5 year anniversary of the finale of Dreamworks' She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. To celebrate, we're hosting a Big Bang with lots of fics and art, but we wanted everyone to be able to participate in some form.

Soft Reboot

I think I need a soft reboot on this blog. I haven't been feeling the drive to write here for a moment and I think it's partially tied to my ideas for what I want this blog to be changing. If anyone wants their muse's relationship with Eath, Hax, and Grimbright to remain please let me know, otherwise I'm retconing or altering the following:

Hax doesn't have Taygete anymore, the person I used to write with who muse was the other parent presently (as far as I'm aware) is no longer writing on tumblr and I simply don't have the muse for her / an unsure how to develop her further. I might bring her back later as more of a different character, but for now Taygete has been removed from the blog.

Hax has not entered their inner demon form, the scar on their face will be removed to reflect this and they did not gain back their tail. It's a plot point I'd like to redo eventually.

The above two in mind, Hax's mother and father never came to visit. They'd have no interest if there wasn't a grandchild that she could try to manipulate. This means, unfortunately, both Hax's parents are still alive.

Eath also did not enter her (half) inner demon form. Not much has come of that event to need this to have happened.

Eath & Hax's cabin is once again hidden. Unless they have explicitly in character taken a muse to the cabin, it's nearly unreachable.

Eath is going to go back to not knowing how her powers work / that her powers are related to Souls and not just the Dead and Dying.

Eath, Hax, and Grimbright are going to be using their human disguises more. They live in a world where daemon are seen as myth, where the history they learned growing up was that humans hunted them out of their own world into the mirror one. So showing themselves as daemons to other humans is a high risk that they're not willing to take unless they're in another muse's world / realm.

Things that I am keeping / adding / changing slightly:

Any of the Seasonal Balls, all those can be more or less canon to the blog

Hax did lose their arm, and it was Grim who did it. That was an important moment of character development, and was foreshadowed too much for me to retcon. Hax's bracelet didn't activate due to the inner demon though, instead it was a constant signal Hax had to find ways to disrupt that got too frequent & difficult to do- which is when Grim decided to intervene.

Grim was possessed, and did receive help from other muses (w/o Eath) to regain control and have their old master ousted... but it's more unclear if that malicious spirit is still around or not.

Duchess Agares did still try to kill Eath, but did reveal she was Eath's grandma afterwards. They very rarely talk however for Eath's safety.

Eath works at the Hilbrook Library now (volunteers, really), and Hax works at a local Cafe so they can have money for groceries and other things Eath's garden can't provide.

Grim still takes assassination contracts, but if asked what he does he'll claim he has a work from home office job. He also still does have the official protection contract with Vassago.

I've already stated this but daemon lifespans have been updated so that every 10 years = 1 year for a daemon. This will alter timelines for past events for the daemons (Hax's late wife, how long Eath's been in the human realm, etc)

Please give me some time to implement changes (I need to make new icons for the daemons to account for a few things / Using human forms more)

I'm also going to be adding / updating a Verse page so that there are actually more versions of the muses to interact with instead of just the one verse.

My ( @apexhaven ) romantic selfship / fictional other blog, might have other types of selfships (ie: familial) but they won't go here. Probably. Unless I change this to not just being romantic f/os.

I'm dating Casper aka Grimmy as I'll also call him here among maybe other nicknames, from the game A Date With Death; Mammon from Obey Me!, who I'll also call by nicknames such as Mamm and noodleboy; Affogato Cookie, Black Sapphire Cookie, and Pure Vanilla Cookie, all three from Cookie Run Kingdom; Mystery from KPop Demon Hunters; and debating a few others. Fine with sharing for all unless specifically stated otherwise, I don't see why not when this would apply regardless in that I don't mind the idea of any partner of mine having other partners tbh (usually). Currently Pure Vanilla is probably what I'd consider to be my Main F/O I think? Unsure on sharing for Mystery.

Will prob in terms of relationship refer to Casper as my f/o, boyfriend, and maybe hubby or husband but we aren't married, just dating. I don't like the idea of marriage for myself. (previously just said "I don't like marriage" but that was easy to and had been misunderstood). As for with Mammon, sticking with f/o and boyfriend only feels right for now. Not sure for the cookies but definitely dating as a term plus ofc f/os, probably boyfriends, and with those three I kinda see it as a polyam in my mind. Mystery is f/o, partner, and boyfriend I reckon. Pretty boys >w<

Since your commentary about how much the more recent dystopic and imperialist versions of Krypton are just basing their worldbuilding in colonialist thinking and views on other cultures, i have been thinking about how much this is true to the larger way the comics have always used orientalist shorthands to build their space stuff and how this just goes unnoticed or not aclnowledged by most writers and fans.

Many of the classic recurring dc alien characters and species, are just awful asian stereotypes, there's the Khunds who have originated in the Legion of Super-Heroes comics and existed for decades only as a sort of generic east foreign menace, like a sci-fi Soviet Union rival potency to the Legion's United Planets sci-fi US/West but ethinically coded as a mongolic warrior race and there are the dominators, also from Legion and later sprawling to the overall dc universe, who have just a disgustingly yellow peril based appearance, they are even literally yellow. Of course there's Superman villain Mongul who's name already says it clearly, and is also literally yellow. Ah, and the absolute cape comics classic of the exotic non-white woman who rapes a white man is also echoed by the character of Stealth from L.E.G.I.O.N. comics (the Legion of Super-Heroes ancestors in our present day), who is again a yellow alien who's race in the text explicitly has a monstruous, murderous, uncontrollable sexuality who compels her to commit sexual assault against Vril Dox II, Brainiac's son, technically green-skined but blonde and clearly thought of as white. That's a lot and most if not all of this has never been properly adressed or changed in dc canon. The dominators are still everywhere with their racial caricature appearances and nobody thinks twice about it. Of so many retcons, reboots and reinventions those stereotypes are truly a constant in canon, the Legion of Super-Heroes is always being made again in a new fresh take but the Khunds and the Dominators are solidly kept the same.

Anyway, sorry for any problems with the english, it's a language i have contact with mostly through media like comics and the internet (your blog being one of the things here on tumblr helping me learn it, i really dig your long texts, that Ma'alefa'ak restrospective was a delight, i hope you go through with continuing it) and sorry for the long text but it's just that i have been reading a lot of Legion and space dc comics in general recently with your criticism in mind and i think the effects of colonialism in the depictions of those fictional cultures and societies just needed to be brought up and called atention, this is my first ask i ever sent to you or anyone else here on tumblr because this is somenthing that i saw i had a real necessity of saiyng and contributing to the debate.

In building depictions of aliens the writers have the opportunity to come up with anything and let their imagination run wild, but they consistently ended up just reproducing very explicit racist tropes and iconography. Like you said before in discussions about Superman, the white american imagination is astoundingly limited and uninsterested in ever truly going beyond its comfort zone, with all the attempts to renew and diversify, it always comes back to roughly the same picture where it matters the most.

In a final note i just want to thank you for your criticism, it peeves some people but it's something we're severely lacking and needing, you do a really great and inspiring work!

Can I just say that this is a fantastic use of taking my metas and criticisms, then applying it to other stories I haven't touched! While also truly understanding how these comics are a reflection of larger systemic biases. Also your english is fantastic and I'm humbled that my blog posts help you out in that regard, haha. Ma'alefa'ak rambles are out here helping people with english, that's wonderful.

While I haven't read the LEGION comics, I am generally familiar with them and am nodding at your assessment. Alien invader characters in the american context largely came from the fear of immigrants but especially the influx of Asian migrants moving into the US. The idea that these foreign people are now wearing american clothes, assimilating into american customs, and marrying into american citizens? It manifests in fiction sometimes subtly through alien invader shapeshifter characters- other times it's just yellow peril aliens that are transparent racial stereotypes. And after a post-911 fear of terrorist world? A world growing more self-aware of the atrocities of colonialism? Alien invasions are sneaking their way back into our fiction, many times uninterrogated. Rebooted and reimagined, but their original racist context remain unchallenged.

There's this excellent quote from an article about Orcs and fantasy racism: "If you find a way to scrub an explicit signifier from a racist expression, but keep the expression intact, you preserve the racist dynamic without the explicit identification."

And that's where stepping back and looking at the culture of American comics as a whole is important. Fandom criticism can't just hyper focus on the many times women of color characters are depicted as perpetrators of assault on white (or white coded) men and deem them despicable villains. Step back, and see the whole xenophobic and racist context with which these women exist in.

Now if only netflix would get the last season of YJa so it's less of a hassle for me to watch lol)! Here's a ref I used for the image here/PFP by the way, a replica of the mystery shack I build in Welcome to Bloxburg. Additionally, the flowers in the image are all references. The hardest to catch are the red flowers- based on the Cave Story ones, but I couldn't find a good picture of those, so they're basically just random red flowers visually. Still, they're those in spirit. There's also the Sundrop flower from Tangled (because I like that one) and Gracidea flowers from Pokemon. Those are the ones associated with Shaymin. Also, the animal TT is looking at here is a Jackalope.

I made this blog because I wasn't quite happy with the old one. I'm not sure exactly why. I think I gave the old one too much trauma and taking away all purpose he had turned out not to be fun. PPG AU List

What is an AU? An AU means Alternate Universe. This is a list specifically for my PPG AU Blogs so people can find them easily find them on my page. This will be provided at the bottom of my pinned post here. I have multiple AUs so I intend to have multiple blogs of them. If it's not linked, it means I have it planned but haven't gotten around to setting it up yet. Anyways, hope you enjoy! NOTE: Some of my AUs are dark so be sure to read the FAQs and possibly TWs on them. ESPECIALLY my vent AU. Some AUs are more favored or worked more on others, sometimes I would have hyper fixations on specific AUs before jumping back to the usual/continuing. Other times I have surges in specific AUs.

Shamed Dedecance AU - A VENT AU where it diverged from the events of DC PPG Comic "Bow Jest", from here the girls role swapped where Buttercup is now the Leader, Bubbles, Toughest Fighter and Blossom is the Joy And Laughter. Now the loss of her role has caused Blossom to lose sight of herself, trying to regain back of what's left of her former identity. (The AU has feelings or events based on what I went through.)

Reset AU - An AU where the PPG Classic and Reboot has traits combined, but it technically it's own universe and own show. The girls basically went through a normal life until their memories started to morph and change, leaving them confused and remembering things or stuff that never happened. Their discovery to find out why this is happening to them, is a goal they all share...if they talked to each other first. Abstract Reflections AU - An AU where it follows an alternate version of the girls, (Kinda like the Powerpunks where they are an evil version of the girls but also semi counterparts to them and have different names.) called Fluffyforce Girls. Through their lives being trapped underground after being kidnapped by Professor Utonium, who was grieving heavily at the loss of his girls, wanting to replicate them through these alternate versions. Taken from their world, the girls desperately wanted to return. But would they be able to? Or be assimilated into the identities that the Professor wanted to be, FOREVER? Small Connections AU - An AU where it follows a yellow ruff/puff named Binni, who is the younger sister of both the PPG and RRB. With her journey of family and friends through misadventures of growing up with 2 sides who differ from one another. And learn the duality family complications between that with her counterpart Billy. (Note it's my very first AU I ever made)

Butterfly Effect AU - An AU where the world they live in suddenly have cracks and instability, leaving the both the PPG and RRB to disband connections, drifting from one another after each suffered a tragic fate. They each paired up with the other group, learning and healing through each other, eventually discovering this world isn't as small as they thought it is. (Please note this AU is going to be very meta) Linked Passions AU - An AU where the girls and boys find themselves to have problems and troubles of their own that they either want to fix or have a desire being out of its grasp, fearing ridicule or not wanting to worry the other parties they kept it a secret. Now stuck in a dream due to their problems gotten worse and desires gotten stronger, each pair that has a similar life desire are tasked to unlock their memories and escape this seemingly never ending dream, and eventually hopefully escape. (This AU is still in the works) Floral Compass AU - An AU where the girls and boys discovered the ability to judge using the inner flora they had manifested upon achieving their inner light of empathy, or inner darkness of apathy. Or in rare cases, the twilight of sympathy. Where they are tasked to judge the good and bad. Discovering and learning that sometimes heroism and villainy are two sides of the same coin. Where the world once seemed black and white, now painted and different shades of gray. (This AU is still in the works)

Character Ideias - Darkwing Duck (aka Drake Mallard)

This blog is for Darkwing Duck writers who plan to write a fanfic, comic or anything that directly or indirectly involves the character Bushroot. The ideas may not be for everyone and everyone has their own different vision of the character, but this blog is for those who are experiencing writer's block or any other creative issues. Character's Past

This part is one of the ones that I think won't be that much of a problem regarding the origin of "how Drake became a superhero", because there are a lot of origins that he told in the original series... Even though I think that the ones he told in the episode "The Secret Origins of Darkwing Duck" are all lies and one of the only reliable ones is from "Clash Reunion".

"Wait a minute, are you calling me a liar?!"

I'm not calling... I'm sure...

"HEY HEY HEY!!! REPEAT IF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE!!!"

The fact is... Darkwing Duck's origin does have a basis and foundation, you can choose whether he incorporated the persona as a child or at the end of college in his fight against Megavolt. Now, when we talk about the Reboot... We have a small problem... We do know how he became Darkwing Duck in Ducktales 2017, the hero was his idol since childhood and he became an actor for that, then after the event with Jim Starling, he decided to incorporate the heroic persona into his life. So far, so good... But Drake's family was never exactly shown. And, I know, his ancestors were shown, but I mean HIS PARENTS. In this one, it really is a very free path for interpretation, however, I have some suggestions.

- Orphan

There's no way to escape that much, especially because Darkwing is inspired by Batman, and we already know what happened to Bruce... I'm not saying it should be the same, but at least have something similar.

- Toxic or problematic family

This is another factor that could be interesting and, if you want to consider the original version of the series that Negaduck is an alternate version of Darkwing Duck, it's a good starting point. I've seen some people use this and, honestly, it's valid. It could be one of the factors for Drake to actually be overprotective of Gosalyn and, at times, be a jerk to her (example: "Slime Okay, You're Okay").

- Normal family, but...

Now a more interesting one... We can consider that Drake did have a normal childhood, his parents were present and stuff. However... Why doesn't he talk about his parents? And why did he never introduce them to Gosalyn? Maybe he had a fight with them? Did he cause an accident that made him distance himself from his family? You can interpret this part however you want, whether it was Drake's fault or not, but considering his difficult personality... Maybe it was his fault... Speaking of guilt...

The Problems of a Problematic Personality

Now the fun begins... We all know that Drake is not exactly the nicest person in the world... In fact, he has a lot of problems... Whether it's his ego, his character, his relationships, his self-esteem, probably traumas he suffered... But let's start slowly... What are the consequences of Drake's personality? Let's start with his relationships...

- Complicated Relationships

I want to start with this factor because Drake definitely has problems here... First, we have Megavolt/Elmo, who, I know, was never mentioned in the original series, but in many headcanons people say that they were childhood friends. And, yes, it's cute and even cool to think that... But have you seen what Drake's CURRENT friendship with Launchpad is like? They are indeed good friends, but there were many times when Drake treated Launchpad badly, like in "Jailbird" and "Quack of Ages". If he treats LP badly, imagine Elmo, who at that time was also a person with no self-esteem and who was constantly bullied. We already know that Drake sometimes tends to be a coward (not like Bushroot, but he values his life a lot), so he probably didn't protect Elmo. Speaking of friendships... Now, if we take it to a romantic level, it doesn't improve the situation one bit... I've already written a blog about how Drake and Morgana's relationship is too problematic, so I won't repeat it... Now, regarding the Gosalyn issue... Even though he's a good father in certain aspects, he's also not... Whether it's because he's a jerk to her or because he's too overprotective... So, yeah... Their relationships aren't good... Worse than that, is the issue of his hero life.

- Failed Heroic Life

Okay... Where to start? Maybe the fact that he's mostly lazy and not very competent? Sorry, guys... But you have to agree that Drake is really very incompetent! He may have good intentions sometimes and even do the job right sometimes, but most of the time he only cares about fame and is driven by it, sometimes also driven by anger when someone underestimates him. So you can get an idea... Even as a VILLAIN, even if as a disguise, he is incompetent in and of himself, because instead of committing crimes, he ends up solving them unintentionally. Again, there are times when he does manage to do the hero's job right, but in the original series that's not the case. And I know it's a comedy series, but still, his deeds aren't exactly good...

- Psychological Effects

In addition to work relationships and personal relationships in general, there is another factor here... Drake has extremely low self-esteem and this causes the chain reaction that is the egocentric and temperamental personality that makes him problematic. But have you ever stopped to think about how this also affects him mentally? Let's be honest, the life of a hero probably causes Drake a lot of trauma, whether it be stress, burnout, relationship problems and, mainly, a feeling of failure. Drake Mallard, as a civilian, is a mediocre person (in the sense of being a totally average person with nothing special), but when he is Darkwing Duck, he manages to have the self-esteem he always wanted. And therein lies the problem... Staying comfortable in a fantasy, in a persona, is not good... Keeping the mask of confidence when your inner self does not have it and embracing arrogance has a big impact. You end up hurting yourself and the others around you and end up pushing them away, making you feel alone. And, as we can see, Drake does not exactly do well alone...

Eh, I... I think Drake is not well mentally... So let's try to talk about a lighter topic...:'3

Character Development

The character development in the original series is a bit messy, but it's easy to draw a line under it. An arrogant and lonely person who, with the help of people in his life, ends up changing and, even with adversity and internal problems, ends up becoming a better person and a better hero. It's a very basic line of reasoning and a "cliché" character development, but it's effective when done correctly. So, I'll just give you a few tips to help you with your writing.

- Work on the character's psychology

This may require some psychology study, but it's not that complex... Basically, you'll end up acting like a therapist/psychologist for the character. What are his fears? Why does he act the way he does? Why is it difficult for him to change? Use some base episodes if you can; the more you study more about the character's psyche, the more capable you'll feel about writing about him.

- Parallels of the hero and his villains

Again, this may require some in-depth analysis, but like Batman's villains, Darkwing's villains (depending on whether you're going to rewrite them or not) end up having small parallels to Drake. To give you some basic examples... Quackerjack could be a representation of Drake's "mask", how he performs his actions as a hero just as Quackerjack performs his actions as a villain. Bushroot could represent Drake's insecurities and his fear of being alone. Liquidator could represent how his ego and hunger for fame can lead him to be a despicable person. And Megavolt represents Drake's demons from the past, how his personality affects others and turns them into enemies or just hurts them. It's up to your interpretation.

- How Relationships Affect Drake

I've already said how much he affects people, but what about the other side of the coin? We know how much being Gosalyn's father affected him in a positive way, he started to care and have a more noble cause for himself. Lauchpad was a friend for him to vent and talk about his problems. Morgana, in my view, would end up becoming a safe place for Drake to be himself. Now, as for the Justice Ducks... You can interpret that however you want... But, in general, it would make Drake start to have a greater sense of leadership and more responsibility. However, there is one last topic that... This one, although optional, is one of the most interesting to explore...

The Trinity of Alternate Darkwing Duck Versions

This topic, as I said, is completely optional, but if you want to play with multiverse or alternate versions, I have some comments about that... Again, I'm going to play with Undertale's routes.

- Dictator's Route

Let's start with Darkwarrior Duck's route, who is a character that I find, honestly, very interesting... He's still Drake, but at the same time, he's not him anymore... And all because he lost Gosalyn... He lost the person who made him see beyond his greed for fame. But now... She's no longer by his side... You can say that she died (because alternative futures are something that's complicated to work with and, honestly, I don't have the patience to work with time travel) or something else, but the loss of Gosalyn will result in him becoming a dictator who probably killed ALL of his villains and has a completely distorted view of "justice".

- Negative Route

This is his route based on the Negaverse. You can consider Negaduck to be like the original and he's an alternate version of Drake. But if you take into account the 2017 version, you can play with the concept... You can make Jim a good person in the Negaverse and Drake a bad person here. I'm not saying to turn Jim into "Darkwing Duck", no... But making Drake a villain is an interesting idea in the Negaverse, regardless of whether this universe will have a "Darkwing Duck" or it will be just the Friendly Four who stop him. There are thousands of reasons you can give to make Drake become "Negaduck" here, it's just up to you to choose.

- Archer's Route

To finish the trinity, I wanted to talk about an alternative version that only appeared in the comics: Quiverwing Duck. This version of Drake also lost Gosalyn, but also... We didn't see the "Launchpad" version here at any point, so... It could be that he didn't just ask for Gosalyn, he could also have lost Launchpad. We can consider that this Drake lost his support network for some reason, but unlike Darkwarrior, he remained at least sane. He kept his true sense of justice... However, he is still lonely... In this version, you can explore Quiverwing Duck's loneliness and how much this trauma of losing his loved ones affected him.

Reference Suggestions

As a side topic, I will recommend some characters that might be interesting to use in writing your version of Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck.

- Batman from DC Comics

It's the most obvious choice, since it's inspired by Batman (in part), and it could also be interesting to explore the psychological side of the character.

- Caitlyn from Arcane (Spoilers Alert)

One of the most recent, let's say... Although her arc was "weak" in the end, she's still a good choice. Whether it's to show Drake's inexperienced side at the beginning or his downfall when he becomes a dictator.

- Blitzø from Helluva Boss

A character who struggles with his relationships and has a toxic personality, who is struggling with this side of himself and has to face the demons of his past. Could it be more perfect for Drake? -w-

- Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz from Steven Universe

One of the most complex characters in fiction, one that you can either love or hate, but it is the perfect representation of a problematic person who also has to fight against these problems and who hurts people without even realizing it. It is really essential to work on this side of Drake and his constant struggle, also the side of him being "truly neutral".

- Azula from Avatar The Last Airbending

A recommendation that is unusual, but can be a good basis, whether for the version of Drake as Darkwarrior Duck or him as "Negaduck", his decline into insanity.

Hey everyone, its me, BackSet, here with a sad announcement. I'm afraid that this post, the one you're reading right now, is going to be the last post on this blog. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere, and this blog isn't getting deleted, too much history for that, but it will never post again. What was once a public library is now an archive.

This isn't the end of Mare, though. She's getting rebooted with a new blog! I haven't figured out all the details yet but I thought it over long and hard and I think this really is the best decision. I've had a lot of fun times and a lot of good memories. I love this version of Mare a lot but I'm just tired and there's so much about her that I wish I could have done differently. Its time for a clean slate.

The blog's not set up yet, so I can't link you too it, but I'll link it or reblog it or something to let you know when it is. Which I guess technically means this is actually the second-to-last post on this blog. I hope y'all'll join me on this transition to a new era of Mare. A new Mare-a, if you will. I've been reading your Man of Steel comments and I love them. (Perry's earring! Clark's introduction as just some guy! Helping people on his journey to discover himself and the world! Yes!!)

(Tangentially, I feel like something key to the character is often ignored when it comes to Man of Steel - young Clark's journey and how it's depicted, kind of blatantly, from an immigrant's perspective; the way he's desperately trying to fit in on a new world, and specifically in middle America.)

There's a YouTube channel I've been following for a long time, I usually respect their takes on films and cinema in general (Red Letter Media), and they recently brought up how they've seen the "Snyder Bros" complain about the new Superman film. I haven't seen any of this; I'm not really online and I'm too tired as a human being to really dip my toes into discourse anymore. But I feel like it's easy to make that distinction because there was a time when "Snyder Bros" were a thing, as an entity separate from just, you know, people who like Snyder as a director and/or his DC films.

It's harder to label the people who, 12 years after Man of Steel premiered, choose to complain about how Snyder "got Superman wrong." It's frustrating, as a fan, but it's also just petty and repetitive. I'm all for self-expression! I'm happy there are people who enjoy the new Superman. But there's no "wrong" take on Superman. He's been around for almost 100 years. Retroactively shitting on people, in 2025, is not how Clark/Superman would behave.

Anyway, Red Letter Media, while disliking Man of Steel, actually gave Snyder a lot of props for his Justice League and were refreshingly candid about how they often pick on Snyder, but do acknowledge that there's a hundred ways to interpret Superman - whether that be in a colorful, goofy way or in a dark, emotional way.

I'm gonna preface this by saying you should like Superman however way you want to like Superman.

But I think you have to understand why the "Snydebros" are acting out. Ignoring the last 12 years of fans of the movie ( not just snyder ) but just the movie itself having been attacked consistently all these years. And now, it's really more the hipocrisy is being shown blatantly to their faces.

Here are the facts and I'm not saying this to be conspiratorily, there's evidence to this if you look hard enough:

There was blood in the waters as soon as BvS was announced. Both from competition and the media. And the internet and the media has been latching on ever since to the individualistic / ayn rand urban myth version of Zack / Mos in their head.

Every minor nitpick and complaint that was blown out of proportion in MoS, is now being celebrated in the new movie. (Again, it's fine if you like the new movie more -- but it's hipocritical, don't you think? )

The company is lying to us. Still. The intention of this universe is to be profitable. And it's still early, I'm not saying it can't make back the money, but the numbers they're spitting, making anything less than any ( I'm not just saying snyderverse because snyderverse movies have remained more profitable than the entirety of the DCEU ) all of the movies they sold off for taxes and actual profit to announce their reboot, is just asking for bankruptcy.

So anyone with a good sense of business, needs to understand, they have to make profit. They burned bridges with artists for this one man's vision ( yes, the dc ceo and the wb ceo who sacrificed a perfectly decent artist's vision for a tax cut and money that was just going straight to his pocket. )

And here's the thing, there's going to be bad eggs in every fandom. But it's also absolute hipocrisy to act like Snyder Bros are the only ones when I've been around long enough to see MCU fans threaten a little kid, Star Wars fans to be absolute assholes, and etc.

But just like how I prefaced this, I'm going to enjoy what I enjoy. And writing and direction, Man of Steel is still the only Superman movie that speaks to me on that level. He's a refugee. He's an immigrant. He's just some guy trying to do the right thing. And trying to do right by the sacrifices of all his parents.

Winx Season 9/Reboot Leaks

Okay here's the tea: earlier today a twitter user by the name of Cataclysm_Power started posting a video they claimed was from the new Winx season/reboot. When pressed for further information, they linked to a telegram chat with what appeared to be assets from Rainbow (17 screenshots/2 videos). After some C-grade internet sleuthing, I am here to give my (worthless and possibly wrong) opinion on which ones I think are real and fake.

A note before we jump in: I'm not posting full images on my blog, because again I do think some of these are real and if the leaker is to be believed, they hacked Rainbow to get them. You can look yourself through the telegram link, or others who've posted them on the Winx Club tag. I also think the leaker themselves is scammy because they've tried charging for Miraculous leaks before. Do NOT give them any money if they ask.

Real: Bloom, Stella, and Icy's asset sheets, Bloom Full Body Pose

A lot of these leaks are 3d modelling assets, and these 3 are the ones I'm totally convinced are real.

The biggest clue of their validity is the bottom banner. All 3 sheets have them, along with the same episode code and notes in Italian. They're all also linked to the same person: Pasqualino Masciulli is Rainbow's 3D modelling supervisor, and has been with the company for at least 9 years. He's done videos on Rainbow's youtube channel as well, using his shortened first name Lino. My main point is that's way too niche for someone to fake just to make some convincing leaks, and it would make sense for the assets to be tied to him.

Likewise, there's a full-body frame post of Bloom with fucking ugliest denim leg warmers credited to a g.riccobono. This is likely Giulio Riccobono, who is listed on Linkedin Italy as a Rainbow employee.

Probably Real: Tecna's asset sheet, Bloom's detailed asset sheet

Both of these are likely real but have weird things about them that make me pause. Bloom's more detailed asset sheet is missing the name, date and episode reference on it, and the notes are in English. Tecna's is missing the bottom banner entirely, and there's some weird cutting around her head that makes it look like someone hastily made a png and stuck it on there.

Unsure: Computer File Tab, MD Concept Photos, Videos

There's a screenshot of a folder with both 2D and 3D assets of all the girls. in the files. I'm not sure if this is from a computer at Rainbow or the hacker's personal folder, so it goes in unsure. I do think most of the assets in it are real - it's low res but the eyes on the 2D sketches are so similar to the ones on Rainbow's newer images of the girls I think they have to be connected.

There are also some full body concept photos for Bloom, Aisha, and Stella. They all look pretty legit (as they're updated version of images we've already seen) but Stella's has other images for 'possible pallets' included. She's the only one with it and the images look like they came from a flash dress-up game, and it gives me pause.

Lastly, the teaser videos of Bloom are probably real based on the outfit, animation and that stupid fucking Bloom shelf being in the background, but I'm placing it in 'unsure' because of the bandicam.com logo burned into the top. If it really came from Rainbow and everything else was downloaded, there was no reason for the hacker to not get the raw file. I think it's real, but I don't know if it came from Rainbow.

Something Ain't Right: Group Shot

What gives me pause in the fully-rendered group shot (even though its shown in the computer file tab) is it shows transformation we haven't seen teased and has a 'Lorem Ipsum' placeholder text. Aisha's hair also looks like it was done with AI - the back of her wings clip through the hair, and parts of it look copy-pasted. I'm stupid, it's the end of her braids. The 'Lorem Ipsum' thing still stands, but I'm re-filing this under 'unsure.'

Probably Fake: Darcy and Damien's asset sheets

Unlike the other character sheets, the ones for Darcy and 'new character' Damien have no bottom banner, are marked as 'Winx Club Season 9' with an outdated Winx logo, and have notes written completely in English. Darcy's has a bit of 3D modelling, but it's too different from Icy's. Maybe they're super early concepts for Darcy, but Damien...go home, buddy.

What is Delta’s personality?

There’s unfortunately not a lot to go off, or if there was it’s been deleted or i can’t find it, because Delta’s AU was rebooted, the rebooted version was never finished, and it appears that his creator’s Tumblr was completely wiped clean. So there’s not to go off on in his canon besides the little details.

UPDATE LOG ; JULY 6TH

Hello everyone! I realized I haven’t made a total rundown of what to expect for the FOBD reboot, so that is what I will be trying to do here in this post. If there are questions about anything I say here, you are more than welcome to reach out, pre-existing member or not!

THE BASICS

Instead of featuring one clowder and staying relatively accurate to real life geography, our reboot will follow the paths of three clowders, including the one featured in our beta run. The land is still inspired by real locations and there’s a sense it could take place in the 20th century, however I have pulled from places outside of the Cape to create something more fantastical. Humans still exist, human technology still exists, but it is not Earth as we know it.

There is a timeline and lore involved with this new world, something that I will be posting here and on the server very soon.

The characters being carried over from our beta run will remain (mostly) as they are unless the players themselves want to make changes. These cats were still called by the Oracle to gather and take on clowder names, and a majority of them still can come from the Collective. The Collective as it stands stays important to the plot, as it is one of the three clowders— but said clowder has turned sour, and the idea is that the beta run cats have set off to make their own/recreate what that clowder once was.

The Oracle’s ominous warning of a danger on the horizon is also relevant in the new version. It is a danger that will affect all the clowders in differing ways. My plan is to further develop it with staff as the roleplay runs; other plots and arcs that can connect to this big danger will be implemented along the way.

P.S. If you have been in my other roleplays in the past, you may notice concepts being recycled here. It’s simply because I like them and they had positive reactions! I like reusing themes in my work.

THE CLOWDERS

The three clowders in the reboot are as follows:

The TwilightWhims— an eccentric and celebratory group of cats that live in an abandoned mansion. Their main aesthetic is whimsigoth-inspired. They worship faeries and their realm. Their land is inspired by the English countryside.

The WaveWhirls— an ever-changing group of cats with a strong sense of resilience and a deep connection to the sea; they live on a beach, in a land inspired by the Cape Cod coast. Their main aesthetic is 60s psychedelica/flower power-inspired. They worship the spiritual realm. The authoritative Collective is what the WaveWhirls have become to be in recent years, but cats within their ranks are determined to change it again for the better.

The JaggedCrags— a deeply serious, somewhat pretentious group of cats that value a sense of awe and mystery. They live within a volcanic mountain range and rugged tundra, directly inspired by northern Iceland. Their main aesthetic takes influence from avant-garde art movements/schools of thought. They worship the realm of the living and have a strong connection to the extreme nature around them. The JaggedCrags are traditionally the smallest of the three clowders.

OUR NEXT OPENING(S)

Once all the new lore has been written and uploaded on this blog, the website, and the server, I will first be looking to extend our staff team. There are five of us now but due to my own disabilities, differing schedules, and new roles to open within the reboot, I think it would be in everyone’s best interest to recruit so we don’t wear ourselves too thin. Staff members are welcome to help outside of their assigned position and are encouraged to include their own characters in the roleplay. When the time comes I will be making a separate post for this, however I am deciding to include a sneak peek on said positions below:

STAFF JOBS I WOULD LIKE COVERED…

STORYKEEPERS: a group/person who helps general players navigate character arcs, character relations, and write for story arcs/plot beats

LOREKEEPERS: a group/person who keeps track of the general lore, our roleplay timeline, clowder culture, and answers questions about them

EVENT WRITERS: a group/person who plans events for the server, both in and out of character, in varying formats

GAME MASTERS: a group/person who assists in running TTRPG-style events and threads, writing for some of them directly, and playing NPCs

MODERATORS: a group/person who assists our members, makes sure concerns are met and conflicts are solved, is approachable and active

EDITORS: a group/person who will help keep information up to date and organized, both in-server and online (our website, tumblr blog, toyhouse world)

Following the application period and acceptance of new staff members, we will spend some time with those already on the server; new members can have time to test the waters and settle. Once we are confident that everything is working and concerns are met, there will be another application period, this one for general players.

Openings for the clowders will be posted here one by one, each with a set of prompts and a resource for recent history. You don’t have to follow the prompts for your character(s); they will be created as suggestions. Application periods for each clowder will last a week, and each group of new players will be given invites when their respective period ends. Once in the server, players will be given time to make connections and plan. Then, our first arc will begin.

As of writing this, I am about 60-70% done with creating our updated lore, and while I’m doing that I will start to update the blog, server, and website. My hope is to do this as quick as possible, but I am also trying to pace myself to prevent burnout. The goal is to get most of this done before I go back to college at the end of August. I apologize now if this takes longer than expected, but I am planning to update as often as I can.

Thank you to those who read this, those who follow the blog, and to those in the server who have been very patient and forgiving considering how chaotic my life has been recently. I appreciate it all so much.

Honestly i loved the ultimate spider-man version, he was the starting point to my long obsession with anything Spidey related (especially with you and your blog❤️)

funnily enough the thing that sparked my spider-man hyperfixation was actually an aerial silks artist in a circus who was dressed as spider-man.

yeah. i had watched the tobey maguire movies when i was a kid in the cinema but i didn't like them at the time (didn't appreciate them) (was too young) (thought tobey's face was weird) (didn't get it) and actually, funnily, had NO interest in seeing the andrew garfield movies at all because the cynical child i was said "why are they rebooting spider-man?? didn't they just make a spider-man like three years ago??" i literally had no interest in spider-man at all as a child. at all. i didn't get it. wasn't into it. didn't see tasm1 in the cinema. had no interest in spider-man at all until i saw that aerial silks artist gyrating around in his tight tights and thought "hm."

i started drawing spider-man before i started reading him. and actually, i started reading deadpool long before i started reading spider-man. deadpool was kind of the guy where i thought "if i ever get into comics, it'll probably be deadpool." i knew a lot more about deadpool. i saw all the memes on the internet at 13 years old and thought "haha yeah this guy is funny. not like spider-man. spider-man is lame and for babies. this guy is like spider-man but if spider-man was funny and cool and not for babies."

so when the day finally came where i said "today is the day im going to start reading comics", it was deadpool, not spider-man. but i kept running into spider-man in the comics and he wasn't lame and boring like i thought he was. he was funny and sharp and kind of bitchy actually. and so i kind of liked him. and started reading him.

first i read all the spider-man and deadpool team-ups, first. because i was eating my way through all the deadpool i could. so i read like, all of deadpool before i started diving into spider-man. and i think i started watching the ultimate spider-man cartoon here-or-there before i started picking up the spider-man comics.

eventually i watched tasm1 and then tasm2 in theatres, and i kind of fell in love with andrew. i loved him so much more than tobey. he was just so sad and pitiful but also very pretty, and just – i don't know, there was this indie charm to tasm1 that i kind of loved. not all the hollywood melodrama of the raimi movies - it felt like a real messy, dumb kid who was figuring it out. and i loved him.

so i think andrew was the peter parker i fell in love with. i started writing him after i watched tasm2 - he's the blueprint for 9319 peter - i hadn't read very much spider-man when i started writing ask-spiderpool - i'd eaten through all of the deadpool canon, but tasm was kind of the springboard for how i approached peter. it was meant to be andrew. i started diving into spider-man comics as i wrote the blog, and started from #1, way back in the 60s. and just fell in love with peter parker more and more the more i read him. but i think andrew will always be my first love. he was the blueprint, and i think - no matter how much of 616 canon i adopt into 9319 - the peter parker i write is always mostly andrew, but recontexualised.

Things I'd love to see in the Future of the Layton Series:

Some of these are unlikely, borderline impossible. But here's hoping Apollo may grant me the gift of prophesy on just one thing:

1. The rest of the Layton Games get a HD release on mobile.

This just makes sense! The original trilogy got a HD release, time for the prequels! And what if we get new cutscenes and content like Curious Village did? That would be amazing!

2. The entire series gets released on Switch.

This also makes sense. Since NWOS is releasing on the Switch, it makes sense to add the original games so new fans can play all of them! Especially since the Nintendo DS is dead. Rest in Peace. 💕

3. London Life gets a sequel/reboot and is available for all regions.

I've been playing London Life on an Emulator and it is so fun! It's a shame my region never got it!

My hope for the future is that if Spectre's Call gets a HD release, it will include London Life for everyone! But this version will include characters from Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy!

And here's a fun idea: what if befriending Dimitri Allen unlocks the ability to use his time machine! Unfortunately, it doesn't work perfectly; it can only take you twenty years into the future. So you can meet and befriend characters from Mystery Journey and Mystery Room!

4. Layton Brothers Mystery Room Sequel

It's been ten years since the mobile game was released and it's been largely ignored by Level 5. Until recently, with Alfendi's cameo in the anime, and then the manga series. It's clear that there's still love for this game. I think it's perfect time for Alfendi and Lucy to get the sequel they deserve! I'd love to see how they are doing!

5. Layton's Mystery Room Sequel/ Layton Mystery Detective Agency Season 2

I know Katrielle's game and anime wasn't the best received, but I think the series has a lot to offer! With the return of Layton and possibly an appearance from Alfendi, I believe the best is yet to come! Also, we still don't know the backstory of Sherl.

6. Lost Media gets found:

What is Professor Layton and the Phantom Thieves? What is Professor Layton Battle Royale? What is Professor Layton and the Deathly Mirror? I have no idea. But I'd like to know.

7. Roid Artwork

I don't know much about it, but I believe Level 5 had some kind of mobile app where, amongst other things, you received really cute artwork of various characters. Most of if the ones I've seen are poor quality, so I think it would be great if the Level 5 Twitter said, "check these out" and released HD images, including ones we've never seen before.

8. More Games

So, the original series was a trilogy. And the prequels were a trilogy. So what if NWOS is the first entry in a new trilogy, starring Luke in America! The Detective Triton Trilogy!

Also, it's been a while since Professor Layton's first and only crossover game. What about another? I don't know much about the Phoenix Wright series, but a crossover between Apollo Justice and Alfendi/Katrielle could be fun?

9. Rook and Bishop

Hey, Akihiro Hino. I know you read my blog. I will give you £29 and my ham sandwich if you put Rook and Bishop in the new game. They don't even have to do anything, just stand awkwardly in the background. It would be hilarious because nobody would care. Everyone wants to see characters like Flora, Emmy and Descole. You put Benny in LMJ and nobody cared about him. Do this for me.🥺

10. Flora

Just.... Acknowledge her existence in some way. Let her appear in NWOS. Give her something to do.

11. Mangas Series

I was so happy when it was revealed that Level 5 was making a manga series about Mystery Room. I can't read Japanese, but I just love the artwork. So expressive and fun! Completely different from the original 2d sprites.

So I was thinking, what if they made a manga about each of the original games? I don't mean like the Cheerful Mystery Manga, but with beautiful artwork that followed the original stories, maybe with new scenes? I'd like that.

Feel free to add what you'd love to see for the Layton Series! No matter how impossible it sounds! If the list is long enough, at least one thing has to come true, right?
