The Sredni Vashtar Working
If you have not read the short story “Sredni Vashtar” by Saki, you should go do so before continuing. It is not long at all and can be found for free here. The rest of this writing will contain spoilers for it, and also will not make much sense without understanding the story.  Done? Good. This little gem of a tale, aside from being profoundly affecting, also perfectly illustrates some of the…

Newbie questions about paganism and/or witchcraft (part 2)
Alright, I see the same questions coming up again and again by newbies in the fields of paganism and/or witchcraft/magick. I do like to answer newbie questions, so I am going to answer a few ones which I have heard over and over again.
Today (September 15, 2023) this question:
Have I been cursed or hexed?
This is not easy to answer, it very much depends on your personal situation. And maybe this is not even a typically newbie question, because also experienced witches and pagans may wonder if they have been cursed or hexed at some point in their lives. However, if you are open to reading a book about this topic, I can recommend »Hex Twisting – Counter Magick Spells for the Irritated Witch« by Diana Rajchel An excerpt from a small review of mine about it: Magick is not always »love and light«, and if you experience hexes, curses, psychic or magical attacks of other kinds, hauntings by ghost/other spirits or harassment by demons, this book is recommendable, because it offers a lot of ideas, suggestions what to do, including protection and cleansing magick, reversal and mirror spells and a lot more. There are also chapters about analyzing if you have been cursed or not. One method the author recommends is divination and there is also a list with Tarot cards which may indicate that you have been cursed or hexed (or not). The second part of the book is quite advanced, for the real nasty problems mean spirited people (or spirits) may throw at you and there is also a chapter about how to deal with trauma caused by such destructive experiences.

Keep My Name Out Of Your Fucking Mouth ~ Binding curse
Howdy y'all! I was dealing with some bullshit that I would rather not deal with but a las, here I am. Anyways, did a little thing and thought I'd share for anyone who has to work with absolute vain, dumb pieces of shit like me. Please excuse how cringe the writing is, I really let my 13 year old emo me run wild with this but it felt fantastic to cast. As always, when cursing and hexing please make sure you stay safe. Ground yourself before hand, cleanse yourself after, don't damage yourself just to get one over on someone else. Happy casting.
Ingredients:
your rage
a black candle(ideally taper but a tealight or whatever will do just fine)
twine(so they feel like they're suffocating)
a sharp utensil or needle to carve said candle
Steps:
Carve the target's name into the black taper candle with the needle . Put a circle around their name and a giant X over the circle. This is to symbolize a bound mouth.
Wrap the candle with twine, visualizing the person being bound and silenced. Please practice fire safety. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED. Keep in a safe dish or simply opt out of the twine if you know you don't want to sit there the whole time.
Light the black taper and say the incantation below. Let the candle burn down completely or fully past the engraving, focusing on your intent throughout the process.
Dispose of any left over remnants in a way that suits you. Throw it in the trash, a curse box, your jobs dumpster, just be eco-friendly please.
Incantation:
"May your lies and slander turn to dust,
In your mouth, words of me shall rust.
When you speak, the twine constrains,
Your words of me, bound in chains.
Feel the pressure, feel the strain,
Each attempt will be in vain.
By this candle, black as pitch,
Your mouth shall twitch, your tongue shall stitch.
Silence now, hold your breath,
Speak of me and feel my wrath.
This spell I weave, this curse I cast,
Keep my name out of your fucking mouth,
And let this silence last."

Oooh, the cigarette butts I find on beach excursions/cleanups will now be put to good use!
hexxing / cursing / jinxing / banishing ingredients.
(anything can be used with the right intent, these are just my favorites, and what i use them with the intent of .) ☆
dead crickets (crickets are often loud in life and disturb sleep, dead crickets to send auditory hallucinations.)
gone bad lavender (bad dreams, nightmares, issues falling/staying asleep.)
dragons blood incense/smoke (chaos, destruction, sometimes physical illness.)
cigarette butts (i like to imagine the smoke getting stuck in their lungs, physical illness.)
dead wasps/wasp nest (getting someone where it hurts, unexpected loss and or pain.)
rotten chili pepper (regular chili pepper works too, but i find that rotten gives the victim an extra "kick" )
vinegar/a sour wine (sending their sour/bitter energy back at them.)
mistletoe (loneliness, BUTTTT can be used for one hell of a forced love spell on someone you hate- make someone they hate OBSESSED with them.)
broken glass (breaking them down, causing pain.)
animal bones (extreme illness, physical harm.)
cemetery dirt (bonus points if its from a graveyard an ancestor is buried in.. ancestors can be SO helpful.)
blood (obviously be careful, blood magick is definitely not beginner friendly, but this can send the jinx/curse/hex, whatever after their bloodline.)
razor blades (pain, difficulty.)
broken egg shells (break them down yourself, put all your aggression into it, imagine you're destroying their trust, i use this for paranoia.)
a picture of your victim, a piece of paper with their name/birthday (bonus points for hometown.)
thorns (trouble in romance, arguing.)
tiger lily (sickness, confusion, lethargy.)
*gentle reminder,
a JINX is an inconvenience.
a HEX is bad luck/illnesss.
a CURSE is direct harm.
blessed be! ★

no more "sigil for anxiety" this or "love spell" that. give me your worst, most terrifying curse
the type of shit that'll tarnish their ancestral line for generations to come or ruin their chance of ever seeing the gates of elysium

important life tip regarding the current political climate:
optimism is important.
gratitude is important.
if you are happy, that is wonderful.
but don't let that become ignorance. don't let that blind you from the current events happening around you.
DO NOT allow yourself to be brainwashed into thinking everything is fine when there are people whose rights are being taken away and whose families are being separated from them.
love and light is nice, but you need balance. it's okay to be angry, it's okay to be upset, rightfully so!
and before i get any notes saying "this is a witchcraft blog, stick to that", witchcraft is inherently political. it is what gave the oppressed a sense of power and control over their oppressors.
i will never prioritize a theme or aesthetic over speaking out.

✖ spell & curse breaking ✖
methods for negating spells you have cast:
destroy the physical representation of the spell i.e. if your spell was contained within a jar, break the jar and dispose of the pieces
disassemble the spell and cleanse each component individually
place item in a bath of sea salt and dried herbs that are associated with cleansing and banishing - leave overnight and disassemble the spell when finished
cleanse the item with moon or rain water and disassemble if applicable
place the item in a black box to negate its effects
bury the item for 3 days, retrieve it, then dispose of it
bury the item on the night of the full moon and retrieve it at the next new moon
create a sigil or written incantation with the intent of breaking the spell and place the item on top of the paper - leave in place overnight
create a written incantation that includes the details of the spell - bury, burn, drown, rip apart, or throw it away
light a black candle that is surrounded by sea salt while focusing on the intent of negating the spell - recite an incantation if you wish, and allow the candle to burn down; sweep the sea salt out your back door
breaking spells others have cast upon you and protecting yourself:
perform a “return to sender” spell - find a black taper candle; turn it upside down; cut the tip off and leave the wick in place; carve “return to sender” and the target’s name (or a description of them) into the candle; light the candle upside down and let it burn down completely
leave a witch bottle outside of your home - it should contain items like: pins, needles, broken glass (to shred their negative intentions towards you); your name and the names of those who may be affected by this negative energy plus an incantation for protection (e.g. your loved ones, pets, anyone who lives in your home); and lemon juice, lime juice, or sea salt (to purify their negative energy so that it may not get to you)
create a mixture of charcoal, chili powder, and garlic powder - sprinkle around the perimeter of your home to stop a spell in its tracks
alternately, you may combine these ingredients, add to a hollow pendant, and wear on your person to protect you from the effects of a spell
if you know the details of the spell that has been placed on you, write them down on paper; while focusing on breaking the spell, hold the paper in your hand, and then rip it to shreds; throw the pieces in the trash, or bury in your backyard
if you don’t know the exact details, write down the effects you have been feeling if you think they have been caused by a spell or malintent directed at you; follow the steps above
submerge yourself in a bath of sea salt and light frankincense incense - place the incense on the edge of the tub or somewhere safe in your bathroom - to cleanse yourself of any negative energy that has been directed at you
place an energetic shield over yourself or your home that is designed to negate negative energy
tips:
close all loopholes
when crafting a spell, remember to create a fail safe (e.g. “this spell will be broken if X occurs”)
add timed conditions to your spells (e.g. “this spell will be broken on the night of the next full moon” and include a specific date)
be specific when describing the target that will be affected by the spell (whether it’s you or someone else, be sure to include taglocks whether it be their name written or spoken aloud, DNA such as hair, fingernail clippings, etc., or a photo of the target)
use ingredients, supplies, and tools that match your intent
employ a method of protection before casting spells, whether the intent is malefic or not
cleanse your space and tools before and after performing a spell to “wipe the slate clean”
herbs:

⚔️💧 War Water
Already quickly back with another water post, I'm hoping to make a master post once I'm done with all these posts of magical waters I use.
Tumblr media
What is War Water?
War Water, also known as Mars Water or Iron Water, is an aggressive magical water used for hexing, curses, offensive protection, warding, return to sender, and to restore peace.
War Water, whenever it is from Hoodoo or European-folk magic, shares these traits and the ingredient iron.
Iron, also known as the metal of Mars, is commonly used in witchcraft to repel, contain, or harm fae, ghosts, malevolant spirits, and others. Iron is considered a sacred element of the Earth and because of it's association with Earth, it has a grounding and balanced aura to it. Hence why War Water restores peace.
Let's not forget that weapons, like that of swords, is typically associated to be made of Iron and steel. which is also why War Water is aggressive and offensive as a sword weapon.
How do I make War Water?
There's a few different ways to make War Water, but all of them share at least one common ingredient, iron. You can use any iron object in your War Water, the most common form is nails. Here's my War Water recipe.
Place iron nails, either whole or cut, in a glass vessel with a tight lid, it does not matter if they're already rusty. Cover it up with water from a storm preferably. Otherwise Holy Water, rain water, or tap water will do. You may also add urine* to it depending on the use.
It will have to rest for about a week, So make this water on a Thursday corresponding to a waxing moon, and end it on a Thursday. Thursday is associated with Mars, the God of war.
Where do I use War Water?
War Water is a great hexing magical water and protective agent. It removes disruptive forces from your life and will restore relaxation and peace in your environment.
It is also used as an offensive protective ingredient. Think of making a spell and lighting a black candle dressed in this water for protection. The spirits will go to this candle and essentially be spiritually cut by the nails and rust away, at least, that's how I like to think so.
It is also used for curses for it's aggressive nature.
Tumblr media
*Typically I make the War War with just the nails but during a spellwork session, I pour a bit on the side and add a bit of urine to it. That way my War Water stays clean for future use, and I can grab it whenever I want. I add urine to be extra offensive and add some aggressive potency to it. It is not a must, It's something I like to do for certain spells.

January 27 - Curse | @into-the-jeggyverse | wc: 577
“Pads, how does your brother know the worst curses?” James asks, limping into the room, holding on to their side.
Sirius looks up from his dutiful place in Remus’ lap, “Hm?” Then he sits up and makes direct eye contact with them, “What did you do?”
“I don’t know.” James whines, making their way over to their bed and laying down on it, “I just tried to talk to him and he threw a fucking curse at me. I’ve been limping back here from outside Slughorn’s.”
“Ah, that’s what you did.” Sirius laughs, “You tried to talk to him outside of Slughorn’s.”
Remus hums, “Does he not like Slughorn?”
“Something about the teacher gets on his nerves, he’s gone on rants about it. Slughorn also consistently pressure him into joining his secret society or whatever it is.”
“You mean the same one that I had to pretend at sucking at potions for him to leave me alone?” James asks, throwing their head back, “I guess that’s my mistake then.”
Sirius laughs, laying back down, “He’ll be up here in no time apologising to you.”
James takes comfort in his words.
Until Regulus doesn’t come up or send an owl or anything for the rest of the day. And the next morning. And the rest of the day.
James continuously loses hope that they didn’t actually do anything wrong and it wasn’t just that they tried talking to him outside of Slughorn’s.
That is, until they’re sitting around in the Great Hall for dinner and Dorcas comes to sit with them and Marlene. She looks at James and hums, “Regulus was wanting to talk to you after dinner. He said to meet him in your usual spot.” James nods and thanks her with a smile, though they can’t help but feel like they've really done something wrong.
But they finish dinner with their friends and bid them farewell to meet with Regulus.
The boy is waiting for them when they get up into the Astronomy Tower. He’s messing with the hem of his robes and his head shoots up when James gently closes the door to the tower behind them. He breathes, “James.”
“You wanted to talk to me, Reg?”
“Yeah, I-” he takes a step forward and reaches to grab at James’ hands, bringing them towards himself, “I’m sorry for yesterday. I just- I was already having a bad day and there was so much bullshit happening in Slughorn’s class, including Slughorn himself, and I was just frustrated and I wanted nothing more than to come to my dorm and then you came and I overreacted when I could’ve just told you that I wanted to be alone and so I cursed you and that was simply unacceptable of-”
“Reggie,” James smiles, moving their hands to drop Regulus’ and grab at his face, letting out a breath of relief, “You’re alright, I understand. I’m just glad that it wasn’t something that I had done.”
Regulus shakes his head, “No, no. Not at all, it was just me overreacting.”
James hums, “I’m not going to say that you weren’t, but I understand my love, and I forgive you.” They bring him into a gentle kiss then pull away to put their forehead against his, “Just let me know if I do anything to upset you before you start throwing hexes again. You’re scarily good at them and it fucking hurt.”
Regulus laughs weakly, “Will do. I’m sorry, Jamie.”

War Water
Tumblr media
War Water (also called Iron Water) is a powerful tool in witchcraft used for protection, hexing, banishing, and warding off enemies. It originates from Hoodoo, Appalachian folk magic, and other mystical traditions.
Uses of War Water:
• Protection – Sprinkle around your home to create a spiritual barrier.
• Banishing – Throw it where unwanted people have walked to remove their influence.
• Cursing – Toss onto an enemy’s property to bring discord and bad luck.
• Warding Off Negativity – Add to floor washes or sprinkle near entrances.
• In Spellwork - Use in rituals for breaking curses, creating wards, or calling upon warrior spirits.
Needed:
• Rusty nails (or iron shavings or railroad spikes)
• Water (preferably storm or river water for extra potency)
• Salt (black salt for cursing, sea salt for protection)
• Cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes (for aggression and strength)
• Vinegar – Used to sour relationships in cursing spells.
• Mugwort or Rue – For added spiritual power.
Instructions:
Place the rusty nails or iron in a jar. If your nails aren’t rusty, leave them in water for a few weeks to oxidize. Fill the jar with water. Use stormwater for aggressive energy, river water for powerful flow, or tap water if necessary. Add salt and herbs and let it sit for at least a week. The longer it sits, the stronger it becomes. Some witches let it develop for months. Shake or stir when using, the rust, herbs, and salt should be well mixed before application.

Cursing and hexing to me mean:
Agency
Revenge
Taking my powers back
Putting things into my own hands
Giving deserved consequences to those who have always gotten away with hurting others
