can this PLEASE finally be the year I get all of you to watch Home Alone 3

it's not only my favorite one but I also genuinely think it's the BEST one and I'm willing to defend that view wholeheartedly

stop booing for 5 seconds and let me sell my case:

WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH IT

• It's not connected to Home Alone 1 and 2 at all. It's a totally separate movie with a totally different kid, different bad guys, and a different premise.

• Meet 8-year-old Alex.

• Alex ends up home alone with the chicken pox. One of the many things I appreciate about this movie is that NO ONE FORGETS HIM! Dad's out of town, Mom is protective but is called into work and gets trapped in a storm, and he has siblings who tease him but aren't cruel. The family is very sweet but it's all just crazy circumstances aligning.

• So the thing about Alex is that he's a genius – which is good, because he ends up going up against 4 international criminals.

• That's these guys:

• They're after a missile chip for North Korean terrorists that Alex accidentally acquires (see above). They were smuggling the chip through an airport by hiding it in a toy car, but the luggage gets mixed up and that toy car ends up in Alex's hands later.

• These criminals are genuinely dangerous, and smart, and armed with the best that 90s tech has to offer. But they're also prime victims for being demolished by this brilliant kid because they're cockier than they should be and they all (hilariously) fucking hate working together.

• Alex figures out pretty quickly that the criminals are going house-to-house looking for the chip, but the police don't believe him. Likely thing for the police to do.

• So he basically says, "I guess I have to defend the neighborhood myself."

Rewatching older classics and I keep being jumpscared by now very famous actors. What do you mean Daniel Craig, the James Bond and fantastically gay detective, was also the bowl haired knight in a movie about a cowardly 15 year old baseball player being sent back in time to King Arthur’s court. Why is there a Scarlett Johansson in my Home Alone 3. I did not order this.

Earlier today I found out that Laswell's VA (Rya Kihlstedt) was in Home Alone 3 as one of the antagonists. Immediately informed my friend @whostarlockeda03 about it and sent her a few pictures when she said she's never seen the movie. Pictures including this:

Me: Kate as a younger operative. I imagine Nik at least tried to hit on her, just because

Whostarlocked: Nik is tied in that chair smirking as she rips off the tape to let him talk, and that's how they meet

Me: …what if it's a joint op (CIA & SAS). So at first Nik tries to hit on Kate because he's Nik, but it quickly becomes clear that Kate is not interested in playful flirting or anything. Then, in comes Sergeant Price. And Nik has another go.

And now I can't stop thinking about a tied up Nik being very nonchalant about being captured and immediately starts hitting on Kate - and when that fails, moves onto baby Sergeant Price who's probably hot and flustered.
