I’ve been patiently waiting for a nice second-hand wood dresser to appear on fb marketplace or at Goodwill for months. Finally, I grabbed this one yesterday for $50.

My inspiration for this project are some dressers I saw at Anthropology that have gorgeous carved details. But I want my dresser to cost $200 or less rather than $2,000.

Of course I can’t add actual hand-carved wood, but I’ve got clay and some silicon molds + epoxy and a potential overconfidence in my DIY abilities.

First up, I removed the existing hardware and sanded this pretty lady down. She is now looking MUCH better without all those terrible stains (and the drawer pulls weren’t doing it for her, tbh).

Up next, I’ll give her a paint wash or three and start trying my hand at faking some carvings!

I had an amazing thrift haul and I'm riding high on the upcoming project.

So the people before us renovated everything, which was nice. However the kitchen/dining room paint and then the back door curtains in the dining area are like.... idk... a rust/desert clay reddish/orange?

If y'all know me you know I've mentioned my dislike of the warm color spectrum. It's aesthetically stressful as well as reminds me of, well, warmth. Which is a pots-haver's nightmare (usually).

SO. We are repainting a light green color. Both because that's soothing in general and because having green in food spaces has a positive impact.

Thrifting with my gram today we found a huge thick green curtain to repurpose into dining chair upholstery. This green will not match the green we're going for but it is still better than the (also red) current upholstery.

We DID however find back door curtains of the color we wanted, plus a table runner with matching napkins. Which was all bonkers to find in one trip.

We did get some shirts for my eldest who is growing so much all of a sudden. Including a navy suit for next year he will grow into. I'm super happy with this haul as it was badly needed and wanted.

Oh on top of this good haul day, the weather is insanely windy and gloomy with rain. Absolutely perfect. Couldn't be better.

Really proud of this double cabinet/drawers arrangement. Everything is bolted to the walls for safety, there's braces between the cabinets and drawers and that gap lets me reach the Outlet.

Thinking about the Bats suppressing their injuries and how yes, they have crazy high pain tolerance, and yes, they are in peak human condition, but ALSO, they do Too Much Shit sometimes and have definitely made injuries worse by accidentally ignoring them

Like, imagine one of them throws out their back doing something Totally Normal and Mundane so they just. Ignore it. Because I literally sneezed, it can’t be that bad, right?

Since Filbrick obviously SUCKED to both Stan and Ford and Fidd is more than definitely missing HIS son, and of course Ford has grown to love him but they're still BROTHERS.. Maybe they could act as the father/son the other is missing?
