I'm not saying anything new but I have to say fandom spaces in 2025 make me tired bro. Censorship, entitlement and the goddamn audacity of some fans make this whole thing just not what it used to be. Back in the day you could just exist and interact with whatever fandom you wanted to in peace. Was there discourse? Of course. But you could stay out of it and mind your own business and that was that.

It's almost impossible to navigate fandom spaces these days without feeling like you can't even 'do' fandom correctly anymore which sucks alllll the fun out of it SO fast. Some of y'all really need to mind your own business, support fandom creators and just self-police the content you do and do not want to see.

Honestly I can tell you finding out art was made by AI really does immediately, legitimately sour it for me, like people will trot this out as a Gotcha for anti-AI people but it's just making it clear they don't consider art to be the conversation that it is lol. It's similar to the way Harry Potter immediately soured for me because engaging with it while knowing the kind of heart Rowling is writing from changes the way the work feels; there isn't any moralizing or whatever that I have to do, it's easy to drop it because it's rotted in my hands.

A very large portion of what is interesting to me about art is thinking of why the creator chose that instrumentation, or what made them want to make the thing in the first place. Finding out I've been talking to a wall completely removes an entire third of the force that art is to me, and I can't argue that anything about art or its consumption is Objectively Correct but I can argue it's fucking boring lmao

gamecube modding is a thing~~~

today I learned that xeno mod chips for the gamecube and SD card slot readers exist for the gamecube

and that is the only conceivable way I can think of within the bounds of the law to save and play gamecube games on an emulator~~

now~~~ how hard is it to solder? I'm assuming I'll need a magnifier to see anything and I bought a jewlers lens to try to fix a pair of sony headphones I had w a dead battery~~ was getting hot where it shouldn't with the new battery installed tho so rip those headphones... cause I SWEAR I installed the battery correctly... but no.... it got hot where it shouldn't have and i didn't know how to fix.

so ye that's why I have a jewler's lens lol. extra magnification~~~ which is what my visually impaired ass needs :)

and you need a special disk drive to do dreamcast games too I think T_T;;;

tho idk if modding will help to fix the gamecube anyway tho, cause some disks it can't read, last time I tried to play sonic adventure 2 battle, the disk drive caught, caught, caught, let me play it a bit, repeat process until it crashed... or it kept catching in the same way and not loading at all~~

idk if there's something wrong w the laser or what that's making it do that.....

I just wanna play older games T_T;;;
