JAILBROKEN V1 UNPATCHED SWITCH BABY~~~~~ LET'S GOOOOO~~

even though it's probably simpler than I thought it was reading the guide:

Format SD card to fat32

send a payload to your unpatched switch with your computer or phone, namely hekate

copy files correctly to the root of the card

(hope to f your card hasn't reached its end first T_T)

turn on auto RCM so you don't have to hit volume up and power all the time, and just in case you want to downgrade your firmware later

stick sd card back into switch with all the files in the correct places

reload hekate

see if you can boot into stock

see if you can boot into custom firmware

????

this is so surreal rn that I can actually do what i just did

now to be smart and not get banned~~~ but I don't play online anyway so~~~~~~~

I kid tho cause I've got another memory card

The big 400 gig one i had in my switch for idk how long has finally died, and I think as per a reddit thread and a couple other sources is in read only mode to hopefully recover data on it

But is also now stuck in a card reader i tried to stick it in and can't get it back out anyway

Its dead tho so who cares

I've tried:

Formatting it w windows

Formatting it w linux

Deleting the data outright

Trying it in my switch cause I was going to use it for jailbreaking, (but after I copied the nintendo folder back everything was corrupted on the card and was still showing even after deleting)

Shredding the partition with KDE partition manager

The stuff is still there~~ I flipped a little switch on the sd card reader and then the computer couldn't even see the card so idk

So maybe it wasn't hekate or atmosphere or my attempt at jailbreaking my awitch the first time; as the last two times I dropped those files onto a fat32 partition it seemed to work fine and let me both into cfw and ofw~~~

So my 400 gig micro sd card bit the dust last night~~ its played many games w me and saved all my data for idk how long

was it my micro SD card ~~?

trying to reformat it and tried the same setup on a far32 formatted 32 g micro SD card with the same exact setup

Except not putting my nintendo folder back

Cauze I'm pretty sure that doing that, or my attempt at jailbreakijg the first time following a guide; that I thought i followed fully, was what corrupted the card

I tried ti format it and it took forever, and windows wouldn't format it ~~

So I deleted everything on it and am waiting to try to download a couple of games and then try the homebrew attempt again ~~

Or even see if it can read the card~~ the computer can, so it would be weird if the switch couldn't ~~ but I've had that bigger card fkr a long time tho in the switch

Idk~~~ hope i get it fixed and can download my stuff again with a working homebrew setup and working games

For some reason all of my games had corrupted or missing data, and had tk re-download stuff anyway ~~ so I just deleted everything and checked the card on the switch, and the data was still there~~ so somehow I think it seems that putting the stuff back on my micro SD card had either corrupted stuff or it bit the big one

But the computer can still read it?

maybe im not near as smart as I think i am~~

Making a post about it to get it out cause im pretty sure family is annoyed hearing about my switch jailbreak attempt

I don't care what happened as long as I can get it fixed

And on the new smaller card, title takeover for homebrew apps works ~~ hope it does when I move back to the bigger card if i can get it working again

Isnut a format thing? Cause the card into my switch now is a 32 gig one and it color be formatted into fat32~~~ the 400 gig card can only be formatted into expat or ntfs on windows i think and unless I want to install a program to format it into fat32, I got to use lonux~~ but what difference would that make?

So exited to homebrew my switch just so I can save my games for playing on the steam deck~~

Bet family is tired of hearing about it lol

But on the 32 gig card, title takeover works and I can actually boot into atmosphere~~

After this last attempt with the corruption on all my games, the switch stopped reading the 400 gig card

Progress and setbacks ~~

got it (switch homebrew) working due to a pack copy and paste ~~ idk what went wrong when I tried to do it myself following a guide

I didn't screw the 3ds up and I did that 3 times~~ for 3 different ones

It works and boots into atmosphere

Only problem tho is that I'm now trying to recopy my nintendo folder cause everything in it seemed to be corrupted except the animal crossing island transfer tool

Everything. Was. Corrupt.

And said it needed to be redownloaded and 'wasn't in the micro SD card' despite copying everything and putting it back~~

Tho it took forever, and I was switching between linux and windows, and doing it with my switch booted into hekate through a USB c to USB a cable

This time this I'll do it on a Windows computer directly and hope everything isn't corrupt this time

Isk what would've caused that

Or if it was hold a button and open an app to open the himebrew menu through a donor app that did it somehow

Did title override corrupt stuff?

Was it the slow ass transfer prices to a fat32 drive on linux that corrupted stuff?

Was it my failure to boot into cfw before that corrupted stuff?

I can boot into custom firmware on 20.2.0 now thanks to the HATS package I found ~~

I still have no idea how I screwed up the first time cause I downloaded everything from the guide from github

How~~? I thought i followed the directions ~~

Now im not sleeping and trying to recover my games~~

I hope my nintendo folder wasn't corrupted to begin with

But its weird~~ cause it tried tk recover corrupted data on stuff and then proceeded to say that the stuff wasn't on the micro SD card at all~~○ wasting half of it

And re-download everything would eat the other half~~ i deleted all the games on there through the switch os hoping that it would free up space to re-download the uncorrupted games~~

But it didn't ~~

So now im trying to re copy all of them solely through windows and see if that fixes it~~

What happened~~~?

Succeeded in one thing but broke another ~~

Both excited that i got this jailbroke but also bummed if I have to delete the Nintendo folder and re-download all of my games again

What will I lose if I delete that folder? Just album stuff, and games? Or is there save data lumped in there too?

How do I even tell what's what in there? Everything is once again like the 3ds and I suppose encrypted that's why~~~ that's why its numbers and gibberish ~~

At least now I know how to make a .keys text file should I need to do it

And have my keys

But inwas convinced, absolutely 💯 convinced that I had to try ti manually downgrade to 19.0.0 with a firmware I downloaded off the internet lol

How do you dump or import firmware you dump into ryujinx btw? I updated my keys there successfully from the ones I dumped~~

Hopefully this attempt to get my games uncorrupted is successful cause otherwise I guess delete them all off the micro SD card and re-download everything again

Also what does semi stock firmware mean? It's not stock? Surely i won't get banned not being in full custom firmware tho

Was the initial copy corrupt?

Was it the linux to fat32 transfer that took a long time?

If it was the initial one of the Nintendo folder, all of my other ones are corrupt too as they're the same one from the same source I backed up to multiple places

Should go to bed cause im sleepy but also want to fix this ASAP

And if that doesn't work someone on gamefaqs had the same issue and they volume up and down and initialized the console whole retaining user data

Would this mean id have to replace the homebrew or would i just have to download all my games again?

Can boot into hekate, can't boot into atmosphere cause I assume that the firmware update screwed me over

Trying to downgrade to 20.1.0 cause I think atmosphere supports it and it'll boot i hope

Dumped the keys i need, id hoped that hactool would let me import them into it to populate and make the text file needed to use the tool to downgrade firmware version and flash it to my switch

But now im stuck cause it says something along the lines of: 'i can't give you the keys' when I thought 'open' would let you import them into it

But nope~~

And research tells me I've got to open the .keys files as text files and get the keys that way and make the file myself ~~?

All the hassle of trying to downgrade firmware with a pc simply because I can't boot cfw~~~

Ive made backups and backups of the backups in case I switch my computers operating systems back around

I seriously think that windows needs rbe beefier gaming computer cause my poor Toshiba is lagging a bit so might install linux on that instead

But darn I WANT TO GET CUSTOM FIRMWARE TO WORK

Also now not that bad cause I can use my phone for this, but I've got auto rcm on cause it bypasses the fuse count in the switch and hopefully will allow downgraded systems to boot~~ but i can use my phone so that makes it easier ~~ need to run the hekate payload every time I want to turn on my switch now lol

So apparently you can open .keys files in a text editor and ~~ BOOM KEYS~~ RIGHT THERE ~~~

Jailbreaking gaming systems is kinda fun~~

Idk how to feel rn~~ excited? Scared?

Should be excited cause I've wanted to do this forever after knowing it was a thing~~

I mean I probably did it correctly and followed the instructions to the letter ~~

Transferring a set of folders tho took two days~~ wny? It didn't take that long with a direct connection to the card into my computer to back it up ~~ why did it take days to copy it to my card again~~??

It felt like i was just downloading all my games anyway ~~ just offline ~~

I'm being vague about it but I hope it works ~~~

I jailbroke the switch my sibling let me have~~ cause it was a gen 1 and unpatched ~~ bought a RCM jig and some other stuff just in case, and only needed the jig ~~

And need to figure out how to use fusee-nano to send a payload on linux

Cause to do that initially; I used windows, for tegraRCM, and transferred needed files on windows after the disk format to where they were needed~~

And almost had a heart attack; as sleep deprived me kept copying files and was about to safely eject the switch from my computer, windows decides to update ~~ i mean i was trying to eject it anyway so the power off helped me do that but~~~???

Really windows~~~????

So the thing I read on the guide was to go to the repository, type in stuff to install fusee-nano, tho I have a downloaded file of it from the guide ~~ (?)

And I'm supposed to:

*sudo ./fusee-nano/path/to/hekate.?.?.?.bin*

In the terminal ~~

I got to get more used to using the terminal ~~

Especially if I want to try to install freeBSD one of these days

I'm both excited and scared that it won't work at the same time

But the three 3ds i jailbroke were fine~~ and that was back and forth from the pc to the 3ds trying to use python commands on the fly to inject stuff there ~~~ cause i don't know python ~~

I ended up going for sysNAND rather than emuNAND, as one let's you dump prod keys and title keys and eshop data, and that was my intention as almost all my games are digital on the switch ~~

And i didn't have room on my micro SD card cause its a 400 gig card and its half full almost so don't have room for emuNAND

Just in case you don't know the terminology, fhjs is what I pulled from the guide,

EmuNAND is a copy of your switch, a virtual one, SysNAND is your base hardware, on the switch itself ~~

EmuNAND the jailbreak and your games are Sandbox to their own space, on sysNAND, everything's there ~~ tho you can play online while within custom firmware on sysNAND~~ EMUNAND must never connect to Nintendos servers or its a ban

Also in sysNAND, no custom profile pictures or guaranteed ban~~

Might update if it works or i bricked it lol

Edit~~ trying to set stuff up again sans the reformat and transferring my games back cause that's BIG~~ but making another nand backup but that'll take a while ~~

Maybe switching between linux and windows messed something up? Or the random reboot due to windows updates while the drive was still connected? Whatever thw thing happened, it isn't booting into atmosphere or cfw at all~~ got to figure out why

And the newest atmosphere and nyx said they supported basic stuff in 20.0.20 or whatever we're on now~~ i shouldn't have updated but I wasn't thinking

Like i used to not talk to people that much at all; now last time i got my hair cut i talked almost nonstop

Talking to people is easier now~~ and i think hobbies are too

Cause i would just overthink everything to death and not do anything

Now ive modded 3 3ds, thinking about modding a gamecube but am still afraid of using the soldering iron, and also planning to mod a v1 unpatched switch

And i worry much much less~~ like how did i used to live like that??
