HQBB 2019 starts now!

We are happy to announce this years HQBB!

This year things will be a little different since a lot of people went away from tumblr. That means we will be more active on Twitter, so be sure to follow our twitter and turn on the notifications during the event!

We also have an alternative so participants can ask anonymous questions.

This year we have a lot of differeces with other years, starting because this year we will have 2 tiers! So make sure you check on our info and faq pages for everything you have to know.

i know it's two weeks late orzz but here is the first chapter of my tananoya soulmate au for the @hqbb bang 2019.

this fic, which genuinely spawned from one scene, really ran away from me & has evolved into a multi-chapter affair w/ half a dozen background pairs because that's who i am as a person.

& it would never have been a reality without @mossyace ! very thankful to have been paired up with them for this event ♡

How and when might we know if we got into the event? So far I've had no response for my application and I was just wondering...

There’s no requirements for “getting in” like there are in a zine. As soon as you have signed up and sent your sign up form you’re part of the event!

how many participants do we have this year?

We have decided not to disclose the exact number to the public yet, but it’s looking very good so far. There is definitely a good amount of already signed up participants. But we’re looking forward to more faces that’ll join! (We still need especially artists!)

Are there ship restrictions? I want to write for what is considered a rare pair.

It’s unclear when fic outlines are due. The tier summaries state “by end of sign ups” which is July 25 but the schedule says between two dates in August (can’t remember off the top of my head)?

Hi! I received an email regarding the outlines (so sorry) but i just wanted to check - it says to provide a submission name, what tier we want to choose and the new pastebin link... but what you mean by submission name?

The name you put on the submission for yourself, since some mail names are not the same as the nicknames participant gave us.

I don’t know if my previous ask went through because if mobile issues but the outline/summary is confusing. We were told a summary and the examples are outlines far exceeding the cap of 200-400 words. Please clarify

You said the limit for the summary was 400 words but the examples you gave us was way more than that. Also, is it just a gist of the plot that is required, or a detailed scene-by-scene outline? They're not the same things and it's confusing when you conflate the two.   

I’m not sure about other contributors but I know I for one worry when clarification questions aren’t answered in a timely manner. It’s been well over 24h since I submitted multiple requests for clarification and haven’t heard back. That’s not very reassuring for running this event... 

You are right, delayed responses are not reassuring in the slightest. We miss calculated our own time for to fix trouble with our schedules. Our sincere apologies about that.

We are keeping our maximum at 400 this year. The old example was good at showing other summary layouts and the result on the paste bin. Since you are absolutely not the only one being confussed about this, we are just eliminating the link about the construction of outlines and have a new one.We will make an announcement too so you are if someone else is confussed they get to see it.

when will the email regarding outlines be sent out?

As you can read in our timeline, summary submissions will open between the 8th and 12th August. We’ll be sending out a mail with information about the process a few days earlier (probably between the 5th and 7th August), depending on when the mod are free.

Are M or E rated fics allowed?

As long as you are over 18 you are allowed to write/beta/make art for a fic that is e-m rated.

I'm very confused about the outline thing. 400 words doesn't seem like much space to outline a fic, especially if it's 20K. Are you looking for a summarized blurb like broad strokes and the general idea of the story, or a play-by-play sort of thing?

The summary/outline is going to be used for claims. It should convey the basic storyline and the general idea of your story so that artists can choose which story they want to work with.

For that you absolutely don’t need to write down every little plotpoint. You are allowed to spoiler as much or as little as you want and you don’t need to reveal the ending. You will also submit Archive Warnings and Tags with your summary so e.g. if you have a major character death that would have to be spoilered in the warnings as to not mislead your artist.

Apart from tagging triggers and giving an idea of what your story is about, you’re very free in writing your summary.

It’s supposed to be more of a summary than an actual outline, but since it should contain more information about your plot than your average ao3 summary, we use summary/outline.

More information as to what exactly you will have to submit will be mailed to participants a few days before summary submissions.

how do we submit our outline ideas?

You will get an email with all the information about the outlines/summaries before you have to submit them!

Then you will get a google form that you’ll have to fill out, that is where your summary goes.
