its hard being a homestuck fan and hating classpect theory. its hard and no one understands

learning about homestuck quadrants has been really interesting for my categorization-obsessed brain because I can’t stop seeing all character relationships in the stories I think about writing through this lens. not in the strict sense that manifests in actual hs canon but more as a variable space that allows for quantitative representation of the way characters interact with each other over time. it’s like. all abstractions are reductive and this one is quite reductive of real relationship dynamics but abstractions are also useful and necessary for the human brain to understand the world etc. and when you have a hugely detailed personal “fanon” that is stored in your mind abstractions like this are hugely useful for quickly recalling and contextualizing dynamics in the part of the story you are thinking about at any given time especially if the focus of the plot is not currently relationship related. If that makes sense

something about homestuck is that it gets a lot of undeserved bullshit online. and if you havent read it, its very hard to like separate out the undeserved bullshit from the deserved bullshit, because whenever anybody talks about homestuck to someone who hasnt read it, everyone in the room is shouting at and over each other. because the bullshit just makes people act stupid. this is why whenever anyone considers reading homestuck near me i just politely say "you should! its good!"
