Tech’s Happy Ending

Tech deserved to be more than just a soldier. He could’ve been so much more. He had so much potential for a good life, all that was taken from him—and far too early. He probably would’ve ended up settling down on Pabu….with his brothers, sister, and Phee. Maybe they’d have a child and Omega would get to be an aunt. Tech would’ve been scared about being a dad, afraid that he’d have too much trouble with emotional aspect of parenting. But Omega would comfort him, reminding him of their conversation in the cave all those years ago. He’d be a great father, just as he was a great brother to Omega. He’d probably get a job somewhere where his talents could reach their full potential. He could use his intelligence for something other than war or survival. Over time he would learn to let go, floating in the sea and lying on the sand. He would teach the kids on the island all about algorithms, flying starships, and speaking other languages. Maybe he’d even open up a school on Pabu, dedicating his days to raising a generation smart enough to survive on their own and use their knowledge for good. He’d spend his nights sipping wine with Phee and reminiscing on their old days as cadets with his brothers. One day Omega, or maybe his child, would ask him about the war. He’d tighten up at first, telling them about the old strategies they used. But eventually, he’d think back to the cave and he’d breathe a bit. He’d tell them how hard it was to feel like you’re always on the edge of death, especially while his brain was constantly calculating the odds of their survival. When things got tough he’d look to his brothers, thinking that nothing else really mattered as long as they were together. Somehow, they always got through it—but never alone. He remembered when Omega first joined them he couldn’t really understand why. What were the logistical advantages to bringing along a child as they run from the empire? But he soon realized that Omega was special, different like them. And protecting her was worth all the negative odds he could calculate. He was thankful for her presence when they lost Crosshair, but he always wished they could all be together again. He wanted to see Crosshair teach her how to shoot, like he himself taught her how to pilot. He didn’t agree with Crosshair when he stayed with the empire, but he just couldn’t rack his brain for any logistical advantage to making him his enemy. He knew, without a doubt in the world, that the Bad Batch worked best all together. He thought Echo was the final piece to complete their little puzzle, but once Omega came along he realized it was her that made them complete. When they finally got Crosshair back, he felt like he could rest. He loved having all his family in one place. The odds were much better that way.

Panic Attack

During the peaceful time in the space, Hunter sensed something or someone going on even though in his sleep. He awoke as trying to sense what was going on at this late.

He decided to check around the havoc marauder which there weren't much rooms around the ship.

He saw Echo have been struggling to breath, Hunter sensed it must been a panic attack.

"Echo, hey, it's alright. Take a deep breath." Hunter reassured him as rubbing Echo's back "You're safe, you are with us now."

Hunter keep rubbing Echo's back until Echo finally felt calm.

At the same time, Tech showed up "I suspect he is having a panic attack." "Yeah, it's over for now." Hunter replied.

"Here. Open this perfume, the smell will be helpful with his breathing." Tech passed Hunter a perfume of lavender.

Hunter put some perfume on his other bandana and pointed closer to Echo's face. Echo took deep breath along with it. Soon after that, he felt relax.

"How are you feeling, brother ?" Hunter smiled.

"Smells really good. Better than our barracks." Echo replied.

"There is something we can agree on." Tech said.

"Do you want to tell us what was bothering you ?" Hunter asked. "Just remembering the solidary I've been through when I was captured. It's still in my mind from time to time."

"Until we were assigned to free you from the separatist." Tech finished it. "I know. You were the first person along with Rex to break me free. I'm just glad I could join with you guys." Tech smiled "So are we."

"Do you need something before we back to get some rest ?" Hunter offered.

"A glass of water will be nice." Echo said.

"You got it." Hunter nodded then Tech told Echo "And I will take a blanket to bring you some comfort."

Echo took a glass from Hunter to drink as Tech put a blanket around his body "Have a nice the rest of the night." "You too, brother." Hunter and Tech left Echo to get some rest.

WIP Wednesday

I've finally posted it! Chapter 8 of my main WIP is up!

30K words later, I eventually made it to one of the declared pairings 😃. One of those scenes, which were planned from the very beginning. But then, oh, I decided that for this fanfic, I want not simply a collection of kinky episodes—nah, I want some background, and a story, and character development, and here we come...

Have you considered Tech and Hunter to be the twins of the batch? Both are trying to take on everything, but Hunter's got a more familial approach, while Tech went more for 'I'm going to learn everything, so we're never caught unprepared'

Hunter then sucked ass at being a parent, which is why Crosshair doesn't think he'd be able to take care of Omega. Meanwhile Tech was still filling in for every missing role- but under the radar- to the point that not even he recognised it as extra work.

There's some slight resentment from Hunter towards Tech as he could only see it as his twin keeping the responsibility of the family at arms length and doing nothing more than what he was told.

This is why it's seen that no one makes things easier on Tech- because Cross and Wrecker don't realise that's an option (having always seen the eldest two as hyper independent), while Hunter thinks it'll be a 'learning opportunity' and Tech can 'finally help out with the family'.

HOWEVER

Tech's also rather dismissive of his family- though he still is trying to take care of them, he's always relied on Hunter to be the one checking in on them and making sure things ran smoothly. It isn't until Echo joins that he can recognise this fucked up dynamic that the Stress Twins have made in the family.

(Also he probably turns to Rex for guidance- so let that bonding be what it is U3U)

Hunter was desperate and scared as well.

I noticed that this is the only scene in which Tech raises his voice. How desperate he is at this moment... He is not afraid for himself, but for his brothers and sister, who are stuck in the carriage. He asks them to forget about him and save themselves, because there is no time to save him anymore. God, that desperate cry is forever etched into my heart 😭💔
