wouldnt it be funny if vere met a mouse hybrid 💀
muhahahaHAHAHAHAHA—
Disclaimer! MC/mouse hybrid is mentioned with both They/Them and It/Its
✦ Okay, so, fun bio fact; foxes are actually canines — aka doggos! [Thus Vere’s line, “If you ever call me a dog again, I’ll break you”] But let’s have our fun by assuming Vere runs on Kitty Software™
✦ “What the… fuck is this?” Vere stared at the creature before him.
✦ Intrigued by the whiskers and tail. Not impressed by the membrane ears.
✦ Vere cautiously approaches the mouse, unsure of what to expect. Its tiny nose twitched, and their small, beady eyes watched him warily.
✦ He slid behind it, cautiously reaching out a hand, feeling the soft fur under his fingers. The creature let out a tiny squeak, causing Vere to j u m p back in surprise.
✦ Shooketh when it disappears?! Where the fuck—
…Was that rock there before? Now they definitely have his attention
✦ They move? He hisses. They breathe? He hisses. They dare exist in his vicinity? He will hiss, thank you very much.
✦ It’s not his fault they seem to be testing his patience at every turn
✦ “The mouse is being a bitch,” he mutters under his breath, trying to hide the fact that he's actually starting to enjoy their company
✦ * chomp *
“Vere, spit it out.”
✦ Jokes aside, he feels a tiny bit bad when he sees them struggling. Not that he doesn’t enjoy their torment, far from it. But the thought of them trying their best in a life a hundred times bigger than them would make anyone…you know…
✦ Sneaks them food or turns them into food [he wouldn't but it doesn’t stop him from daydreaming about it]
✦ He can't help but admire their determination, even if it is sometimes comical to watch.
Maybe it's the underdog in him rooting for them to succeed, or maybe it's just the unexpected bond that has formed between them.
Either way, he finds himself becoming more invested in their well-being than he ever thought possible.

In case ppl were curious about the open hardware, open software gay ipod. As you can see, next to other mp3 players.... It's massive. But the good thing is that it should be easy to repair, customize and replace parts all you want. Also, unlike the other players (which are old tech by now), it has Bluetooth which is great. But the setup took the longest time, because I was having issues with the microsd card I was using. It would crash in the middle of a song and get stuck in a boot loop until I took out the SD card. I had to set up a dev environment to get the debugger running to find out that I was having the same memory allocation issue as the others. So I followed the suggested fix of removing all the album art on all the files, and it seemed to work for a second before it crashed again. In my desperation, I reformatted the card to FAT32 so I can put it back into my sansa, but somehow??? it fixed the malloc issues?? (before it was exFAT) So I'm just keeping my eyes on it and trying to actually listen to songs, but now i'm noticing some user experience quirks.
ex) on rockboxed sansa if I select a file from the file browser, it plays the rest of the songs in the folder and even moves onto the next folder if I reach the end, but Tangara only loads up that single song into memory. You can go through the 'albums' menu and select to load the entire album but still, it only plays that the album and doesn't play any more than that. sometimes I just like going through my own file structure rather than the indexed database, so I wish there was a better experience there.
The scroll wheel is a bit finicky imo, even after I've adjusted the sensitivity it takes me SO many tries to get the dial to move up just one entry. Sometimes the small controlled movement I'm making to go up just one line registers as a long press, which makes the UI jump up a whole page. I think there are some feature requests that are asking for a "hybrid" approach of it acting like a button and a scroll wheel so we'll see where that goes!
Under the cut for the other mp3 players I have
Sansa fuze has a bad screen, I think I messed up the ribbon cable when I opened it up to clean. Just gotta go back in there and fix it again 😭. Also the mechanical wheel (which is a rubber coated plastic) is STICKY because the rubber disintegrated, so I really do have to open it up to disassemble everything to clean it out. But otherwise it sounds great, takes an SD card, compact and customizable enough.
The Ipod mini has a bad battery that I replaced but the rockbox + sleep state messed up the new battery and it won't hold a charge anymore so, I put in the original battery and reverted it back to the original software which SUCKS bc itunes (I think u can foobar2000 it actually, but haven't tried yet). I don't think rockbox and ipod mix very well in terms of sleep state which is so unfortunate because I love the feel of the hardware but hate the software.
The sansa clip+ is the first one I had and still is thee best, it just has the smallest battery of all of them :( rockbox works great and it has never let me down!
#tangara#i know i should post on the forum or file an issue ticket on codeberg but i just needed to straighten out my thoughts here first.#tangara devs are doing their absolute best and i trust them and the open source community btwwww#i just wish i didn't erase my C knowledge immediately after i graduated bc i remember really liking it - memory management and all that too#so i can contribute but my brain is mush 👍 idk how i worked as a dev for four years

Procreate Dreams
I've been playing around in Procreate Dreams for about a week or so now, and I think I've got enough of a handle on the software to offer a fair review! If you're interested in hearing my thoughts, click the read-more below.
A little context before we get started; I have two degrees in animation, but they're both in 3D. My personal specialty is tech and articulation/rigging, but I think my background puts me in a unique position with Procreate Dreams; I know all of the theory behind animation, but I'm not going into Procreate Dreams and comparing it to a professional-grade software I generally prefer to use (like Toon Boom Harmony, for example).
So, let's get into it!
First Impressions
I hated it. I opened the software, it crashed. I couldn't figure out how to enable onion skins. I couldn't increase or decrease the exposure of my frames. I couldn't figure out how to swap to the eraser. I was confused, I was frustrated, and then I realized that I was expecting to jump in and animate without taking the time to learn the software first.
Once I stopped trying to strong-arm it and started looking up documentation, things got a little easier.
Re-Thinking My Approach
Procreate Dreams isn't comparable to any other animation software I've used before. The UI is different, there's a focus on gesture over buttons, and everything about it is meant to be minimalistic. None of this reflects poorly on the program, in my opinion. It's different. You can't go to Procreate Dreams and get mad at it for not being like the other software out there in terms of how it's used. In fact, I think one area of Dreams that should be applauded is the sheer ambition on display. It's a hybrid of traditional frame-by-frame animation and offers a slimmed down version of some of After Effects' most useful compositing & motion graphics tools. That's just plain cool.
The Good
For those of you who've used Procreate Dreams, you may find it's a little... difficult to see all the good it has to offer through the muddied waters it's launch-day bugs kicked up, but under all the grime, there's a little bit of gold.
Dreams is a one time, $20 USD purchase. That's huge in terms of affordability and accessibility in the software market right now.
The "Perform" option is great, and I think we'll see the longer that it's out, the more creative people are going to get in using it. I've already seen people create gorgeous parallax on their illustrations.
Simple compatibility with Procreate is a huge win. I'm finding my pipeline uses both software together.
The UI is a mixed bag overall, but I find the ability to move between flipnote mode and timeline mode to be great. It keeps the screen free, but I can still access the features I need while doing frame-by-frame.
The move/filters option is a great way to add a little compositing magic to your work.
The Bad
The "bad" here exclusively covers issues with the software as intended. Bugs will be covered under "The Ugly" below.
The lack of a lasso tool is a huge setback. I've seen people saying that it doesn't make sense not to have that feature at launch, especially when it's part of Procreate, but I understand why it may have been difficult to implement in conjunction with the move/perform/warp options. If you save a warp on top of an illustration, then cut and move part of the drawing, how is the warp/local translation data applied to that image? Does the pixel remember it's movement, or is it applied on top of the drawing? There's a lot to consider.
Similarly, the "reference" tool in Procreate would be an excellent tool to add color to layers beneath current layers. "Add Reference Track" would be great! That said, I think this conflicts with the move/warp tools like the above.
The timeline is a time sink. I should be able to adjust the exposure of my frames easily and consistently. As of right now, I have an 80-20 shot of selecting my layer or grabbing the handle for exposure. A small button on the edge of each frame (like a dot) would improve this considerably.
As far as I can tell, you can't mask a group onto another group.
No double-tap on the Apple Pencil 2 to swap to the eraser. This one I'm not sure about; it runs in Procreate, it seems simple to implement here... though it'd be great to see it customizable.
The Ugly
This includes bugs and other issues that are separate from the features (or lack thereof) of Procreate Dreams.
Crashes are frequent. I haven't used the software reliably during any of my sessions so far, but Dreams' autosave feature is extremely strong and very forgiving, so I have lost no work.
My pen pressure become erratic at times, necessitating a restart of the software.
Sometimes my pen will stop working, though other features in the app will continue to run.
The good news is, I think that Dreams is overall a huge win for artists and animators worldwide. Everything that's not working about Dreams will hopefully be resolved in future updates. I'd encourage anyone who wants to try animating for the first time to pick it up-- with the understanding it might take some time to get used to/master.

Flying vs. Floor-Standing Speakers: What Touring Crews Really Think
Every sound system tells a story—not just through what comes out of the speakers, but how those speakers are positioned. If you’ve ever walked into a venue and seen speakers hanging from the ceiling or stacked tall on the stage, you’ve seen two very different philosophies at play. Flying vs. floor-standing speakers isn’t just about looks—it's a real-world decision that impacts clarity, coverage, and the entire live sound experience.
Flying vs. stacking: more than a visual choice—it shapes how the audience hears the show.
So how much loyalty do touring crews actually prefer? The answer is more about logistics, consistency, and the venue itself.
A Brief History of Live Speaker Placement
Before digital signal processing and line arrays, speaker stacking was the standard. Crews simply placed massive boxes on the stage or sub platforms to fill the space with sound. It worked, but with compromises—sound often bounced off the floor or walls unpredictably, causing muddiness and uneven coverage.
Then came flying speaker systems—rigged from trusses or overhead supports. Once limited to large productions due to cost and complexity, flying systems have become more accessible with lightweight enclosures, modular rigging, and digital optimization tools. Now, both setups have valid roles in touring sound, and the best choice depends on much more than just budget.
Why Flying Speakers Are Often the First Choice
1. Better Coverage, Less Interference
Flying speakers can be precisely angled and aimed using array prediction software, letting engineers target exactly where sound should go—and where it shouldn't. This minimizes reflections from floors and ceilings and helps avoid dead zones or hot spots.
For venues with balconies, uneven shapes, or large crowds, flying systems provide the kind of even frequency response floor stacks just can't match.
2. Space-Saving and Safety
On tight stages, floor-standing speakers can be a tripping hazard or block sightlines. Hanging the speakers keeps the performance area clear and improves safety for performers and crew. That’s a big win on high-traffic or fast-turnaround tours.
3. Visual Cleanliness
In visually-driven productions, flying systems disappear into lighting grids or trusses. That sleek look matters—especially in corporate shows, festivals, or theatrical performances where visual design is as important as sound.
Where Floor-Standing Speakers Still Shine
1. Speed, Simplicity, and Budget
Not every venue has rigging points, trusses, or time to hang gear. Floor-standing systems are fast to deploy, require fewer crew, and are often ideal for small- to mid-size gigs. For tight changeovers or DIY touring artists, they remain practical and effective.
Stacking also minimizes rigging risks—no need for lift equipment or safety inspections. Just plug in, stack, and go.
2. Bass That Feels the Floor
There's something visceral about ground-stacked subwoofers. They couple directly with the floor, delivering physical bass that’s harder to achieve when flying. For bass-heavy genres like EDM, hip-hop, or reggae, many crews still prefer ground-level low-end—even if the tops are flown.
3. Acoustic Compromise in Tough Rooms
Ironically, in some venues, flying isn’t ideal. Low ceilings, reflective surfaces, or complex architecture can make flown systems behave unpredictably. In those cases, tight floor stacks with well-controlled dispersion might outperform a poorly implemented fly system.
Many touring crews rely on hybrid setups—flying mains for clarity, stacking subs for physical bass.
What Touring Crews Say Behind the Scenes
Seasoned engineers often rely on a hybrid approach: flying the mains, stacking the subs, and deploying fills as needed. The goal is always the same—coverage and clarity.
Crews point out that flying systems require more prep, planning, and safety measures. But the reward is worth it: consistent sound across the venue, reduced feedback risk, and better vocal intelligibility.
For speed and punch, floor-standing setups still hold their ground—especially on fast-paced tours.
Meanwhile, floor stacks win points for speed, ruggedness, and predictability—especially when tour stops vary widely in infrastructure and space.
And let’s be real—sometimes the decision isn’t even up to the crew. Venue limitations, local regulations, and stage design often dictate the approach before the first XLR is even plugged in.
Smart Choices Begin with Smart Gear
Whether flying or stacking, speaker performance starts with the right equipment. That means understanding coverage patterns, SPL handling, rigging compatibility, and system tuning.
Working with a knowledgeable pro audio retailer can help simplify these decisions—especially when matching speakers to the kind of venues, music styles, and tour logistics you’re dealing with. It’s not about what looks the coolest—it’s about what translates cleanly from stage to audience.
What the Future Holds
Look for more flying and stacking systems that can be adapted to whatever gig comes their way. Lighter-weight materials, rigged-out enclosures, and tuning software controlled by AI are making both faster and safer than ever.
Also, as spatial and immersive audio become more prevalent in live applications, speaker placement will only increase in significance. Systems might soon adjust automatically in real time according to crowd concentration or acoustic feed-back—whether the speakers are floating in the air or placed on the ground.
Final Thoughts: It's Not Either/Or—It's What Works
There ain't no one size fits all in the flying vs. floor-standing debate. It's all a matter of context. Budget, time, venue shape, genre, and crew size all make up the right decision.
The most important thing is to identify the strengths and compromises of each technique. And if the proper setup is chosen, even the lowliest rig can deliver world-class sound.
So whether your speakers are soaring high over the pack or planted in stacks of bass, choose with intention. Because sound is not just loud—it's clear, controlled, and remembered.

My first time in here, but lurked for a while. Had to chime in about Viv's spiel about rigged animation. Rigged animation IS beautiful, but what has been shown in Hazbin doesn't look great, nor is it really "rigged" in the same sense as other shows. It's a hybrid. It has tweening for some parts, but overall it is frame-by-frame 2D animation. This is also the case for Helluva Boss, but actually done well. For Hazbin, either the animators/boarders are inexperienced with the software or this medium specifically, maybe both, but some shots just really don't flow well. Especially considering this show is using Toon Boom Harmony, I don't feel like this show is being handled by an experienced animation studio who can use this program to its full potential. I know for a fact, this program has the potential to handle the complicated and pattern-heavy designs that Viv creates with relative ease if approached with planning and structure, yet there are so many instances where shortcuts, cheats, and time-savers possible in the software could have been clearly used, but just aren't for some reason.
Rigged animation is some of my favorite and can really look beautiful if you know what you are doing with it. Think of shows like Hilda, My Little Pony, Dead End, Bluey, even Bob's Burgers which is also by Bento, have beautiful smooth rigged animation. But so many shots of Hazbin Hotel just look choppy by comparison, and not in a good or intentional way. I'm sure the animators themselves are great. But the overall product shown so far just doesn't look smooth, no matter how you excuse it. There are mistakes that are consistent with what I was doing as a new learner of animation and its software, or under heavy stress and very little time to correct mistakes. These just should not be present in an Amazon funded show. Helluva Boss evidently has more time and care put into it due to it having less strict deadlines, and the animation quality is even more consistent with Season 2, but the fact the Hazbin Hotel budget clearly went more towards the replaced voice talent and not on the animation is infuriating. Not to mention disappointing.
It's incredibly disappointing, and even moreso with this insight. Thank you for explaining it.

Cloud Storage vs Local Storage: Pros and Cons
In today’s digital world, choosing the right storage solution for your data is critical. Whether you’re an individual, a business, or a creative professional, understanding the benefits and limitations of cloud storage and local storage can help you make an informed decision that fits your needs. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, so let’s explore the pros and cons of each.
Pros of Cloud Storage
Accessibility Anywhere: Cloud storage lets you access your files from any device with an internet connection. This flexibility is invaluable for remote workers, frequent travelers, and anyone needing quick, on-the-go access to their data.
Scalability: Cloud plans can be easily upgraded as your storage needs grow, without the hassle of purchasing or setting up new hardware. This makes cloud storage ideal for businesses or individuals with rapidly expanding data.
Automatic Backups and Updates: Cloud providers handle all maintenance, backups, and software updates. This reduces the risk of data loss and frees you from managing technical upkeep.
Collaboration: Cloud platforms allow real-time file sharing and editing, supporting team projects and collaboration across different locations.
Cons of Cloud Storage
Internet Dependency: You need a stable internet connection to upload, download, or access your files quickly. Slow or intermittent connections can be frustrating and limit efficiency.
Recurring Costs: Cloud storage usually involves monthly or yearly subscription fees. While some providers offer free tiers, costs can increase significantly with higher storage demands.
Privacy Concerns: Your data is stored on third-party servers, which may raise privacy or security concerns for sensitive or confidential information, despite encryption and security measures.
Pros of Local Storage
Full Control and Privacy: With local storage, your data remains physically with you, giving you complete control over security and access. This is important for users handling sensitive files like legal or medical records.
Offline Access: Local storage devices such as external hard drives or Network Attached Storage (NAS) allow file access without needing the internet, making it reliable in areas with poor connectivity.
One-Time Cost: You purchase the storage device once and avoid recurring fees. Over time, this can be more economical than cloud subscriptions.
High-Speed Transfers: Local storage generally offers faster data transfer rates, especially with solid-state drives (SSDs) or USB 3.0 connections, beneficial for large files like videos or high-resolution images.
Cons of Local Storage
Limited Accessibility: Access is restricted to the physical device unless you set up complex remote access systems, which can be inconvenient.
Scalability Challenges: Expanding storage requires buying additional devices, which may be costly and less flexible.
Risk of Physical Damage: Local drives can fail, be lost, stolen, or damaged by environmental factors. Without proper backups, this can result in permanent data loss.
Maintenance Burden: You are responsible for managing backups, software updates, and hardware maintenance, which can require technical know-how.
For a detailed comparison, check out this comprehensive guide on Cloud Storage vs Local Storage to help you decide what’s best for your data needs.
Conclusion
Choosing between cloud and local storage depends largely on your priorities. Cloud storage excels in flexibility, scalability, and ease of use, making it ideal for users who need remote access and collaboration. Local storage shines when control, privacy, speed, and offline access are more important.
For many, a hybrid approach that combines both cloud and local solutions offers the best balance — local storage for sensitive or large files, and cloud storage for backups and easy sharing.

Week 8 Blog #6-
Does a Cyborg try to make up for their lack of origin stories through us?
In the reading of Cyborg Manifesto by Donna Haraway, we learn how cyborgs are “machine like” along with a hybrid of our own reality. Haraway addresses this as, “machines have made thoroughly ambiguous the difference between natural and artificial, mind and body, Self-developing and extremely designed , and many other distinctions that used to apply to organisms and machines. Our machines are disturbingly lively, and we ourselves are frighteningly inert"(Haraway 2018). We can compare this to last week's Black Mirror’s episode where everyone is a cyborg trying to fit into the merit system. This concept has me inquiring about do cyborgs not have an initial background. We talked about this inside class, however, we subconsciously implanted reality into these cyborgs.
Will Visual cyberculture inspire our society in a negative way? (K O'riordan)
In Gender, technology, and visual cyber cultural Virtually Women by Kate O’Riodan we see, a fake woman “the most celebrated virtual persona to date…as the “cyberbabe”(O’Riordan 2000). The concept about how men view women can be interpreted in our everyday lives. The reading also goes on to say, “the female face is thus the future present of the convergence of cybercultural forms such as mobile telephony, computer games, hand held devices, and the internet” (O’Riordan 2000). Our society must err on the side of caution moving forward about how we represent women in the digital world.
Do we socially view all women as maternal figures?
In the documentary we discussed and talked about in class, Seeking Mavis Beacon, we see two young women trying to find a real life woman whose identity has been essentially stolen and used for AI marketing. However one of the most curious parts is how they materialize Mavis. We see her showing off features while talking to kids, teaching them. Most of our childhood teachers are women. They even had a photoshoot with her walking a little boy. For the marketing standpoint, the likeableness and stereotype of a woman is to be forced to be maternal.
Does AI take away identities and perhaps genders for money?
Talking more into Seeking Mavis Beacon, it was quite alarming to know that the real person that the character was based off of was Renee L’Epernace. She was a Haitian immigrant working at a perfume store when she was approached by one of the creators of a new software. They offered her only $500 to do a photoshoot and that was it, however they used AI to market off her face for future ideas revolving around the software. While the creators were making millions off their new and booming business software. They would use AI features to “soften” her face and hands to resemble Renee. They didn’t even ask permission or allow her the right to forget. This is what we learn in class, they can not be removed from the project essentially. It’s so crazy to me they basically stole Renee’s identity and reprogrammed her to someone she isn’t. You saw her face but you didn’t see her because it was just a fake persona.

How to Set Up a Simple Filing System for Receipts and Invoices
Keeping track of receipts and invoices is crucial for any business. Without an organized system, important documents can get lost, making tax time stressful and financial tracking difficult. Fortunately, setting up a simple filing system doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s how you can do it in a few easy steps.
1. Choose a Storage Method
Decide whether you prefer a physical, digital, or hybrid filing system.
Physical System: Use labeled folders, binders, or an expanding file organizer.
Digital System: Scan receipts and invoices and store them in cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or a dedicated accounting software.
Hybrid System: Keep physical copies for tax purposes while maintaining a digital backup.
2. Categorize Your Documents

Mini-Review: Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy in Space
Bee, an unemployed woman in her early twenties, encounters a mysterious creature she terms PuppyCat. She adopts this apparent cat-dog hybrid, and together they go on a series of temporary jobs to pay off her monthly rent. These bizarre jobs take the duo across strange worlds out in space.
This is the kind of show I often enjoy, episodic while expanding the world and our view as the stories pass; humorous without making me cringe.
It's a very fun show that looks like its aimed at kids, and would probably be fine for that audience--it's not adult humor in the vein of things like The Simpsons or Rick and Morty, but it feels like adults are the audience because of the atmosphere.
Bee is a mess, in a recognizable way: she's been fired from her job for possibly valid reasons but also partially for taking the blame for someone else. She's aimless: if it wasn't for the rent being due, she wouldn't really be looking for another job.
The aimlessness of being an adult, yet not automatically having things all together, is a running theme. Bee definitely doesn't. Her best friend and neighbor, Deckard, is struggling to decide between following his passion, and staying where he is in a predictable environment with friends and family.
His sister Cas gave up a passion project in favor of the predictable work and stability of software engineering, something she has complicated feelings about. Their landlord, Cardamom, seems to have everything all together, except he's a 7-year-old with no adult supervision, and as the episodes go on you realize that his straightforward approach to life is actually a child being forced to handle things that are an adult's domain.
The setting is also fun: it's hard to tell whether things like toilets be a place to store food instead of, well, bodily functions are normal, or why a 7-year-old seriously acting as a landlord doesn't seem to raise many comments. Is this a fantasy land where things are just kind skewed anyway? Or are Bee and her neighbors extra-odd? In that way, it reminds me a bit of Steven Universe, with its mix of cartoon reality and non-main characters eventually making clear that they think this is weird, too.
The actual fantastical bits are interesting, too. We get information about Puppycat towards the end, but he definitely has secrets, and Bee isn't as straightforward as she appears at the beginning, either. Their visits to other planets/dimensions (?) to earn money would be an interesting show even without showing any of their home lives.
You can definitely see the influences of classic magical girl anime, but this show is also the answer to the premise: what if magical girl, but tired adult? What if magical girl, but it's just kinda a job?
Verdict
Voices: Very good! They sound very...realistic, not super polished. I don't mean that they sound like inexperienced voice actors, I mean that they sound real and variable, which isn't common in voice acting. I really enjoyed them.
Also, special shoutout to my favorite character, Toast, whose first line had me wracking my brain to figure out why did her voice sound SO familiar and why was her voice affecting something in my emotions until I looked it up, and her voice actress is the English voice of Sailor Moon/Serena that I grew up with!
Visuals: Vibrant and pastel colors, a very round cartoon style, it feels modern and cozy.
Worth watching? Yes! On one hand, it's just a fun series, the balance between "just living life as an aimless young adult" and "brightly-colored fantastical adventures" is done well. The supporting cast of characters is great and entertaining. And on the other hand, it's also nice to watch a cartoon that feels very much like the target audience are adults, but not because the show is raunchy. I really hope we get another season someday.
Where to watch (USA, as of September 2023): Netflix. Note that a 10-episode original web animation (titled Bee and Puppycat without any subtitle) can be found on Youtube; the Netflix series I watched is both a reboot (covers the original series' material in a few episodes) and then continuation. After asking advice on here, general consensus was that newbies starting with the Netflix series is a good idea, but there's nothing wrong with the older, original web animation.

For UK-based enterprises, communication efficiency is no longer a luxury; it’s a necessity. That’s why business VoIP phone services UK have become a central focus for companies aiming to streamline voice communication, reduce operational costs, and increase scalability. Unlike traditional landline systems, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) allows businesses to make and receive calls over the internet. This technology improves call quality, offers flexibility for remote work, and includes features like call routing, voicemail to email, and CRM integration. As companies continue to grow and decentralize, the need for such robust and scalable solutions becomes even more evident.
Simultaneously, the demand for custom software development has soared. Off-the-shelf software often fails to address the unique needs and workflows of diverse businesses. Custom-built solutions provide a tailored approach, aligning perfectly with a company’s goals, structure, and operational nuances. Whether it’s an internal process automation tool or a customer-facing mobile application, bespoke software ensures that businesses have a competitive edge. It can enhance productivity, improve customer experience, and ensure long-term scalability without being confined by the limitations of generic software packages.
One of the driving forces behind this shift is the increasing expectation for agility and efficiency in business operations. With markets evolving rapidly, businesses need to adapt faster than ever before. By leveraging custom software development, companies gain full control over their systems, enabling them to respond swiftly to changes and maintain a flexible digital environment. Moreover, the integration of intelligent features like data analytics, AI, and automation can significantly elevate a company’s performance and decision-making capabilities.
On the other hand, business VoIP phone services UK offer a parallel benefit by bringing communication into the cloud. This allows seamless coordination between departments, remote teams, and clients across multiple locations. Businesses are no longer tied to physical office infrastructure, which is crucial in the era of hybrid work. With enhanced security protocols, call encryption, and GDPR-compliant storage solutions, VoIP systems today are as secure as they are convenient.
Companies that recognize the synergy between robust communication tools and intelligent software solutions are setting themselves up for long-term success. It’s not just about having the latest technology; it’s about ensuring the technology serves a specific, impactful purpose within the organization.
One such company leading this transformation is cyberocean.co.uk, which offers integrated solutions that marry the power of modern telephony with bespoke digital tools. Their approach exemplifies how a well-rounded strategy—blending business VoIP phone services UK with custom software development—can empower businesses to thrive in a digital-first economy.
The benefits extend beyond functionality. Custom digital ecosystems and reliable VoIP services also influence the way customers perceive a brand. A seamless user interface, instant communication channels, and responsive service systems all contribute to building stronger, more trustworthy relationships with clients. And in a marketplace where customer expectations are higher than ever, that trust is invaluable.
As digital transformation continues to reshape industries, companies across the UK must assess their current systems and explore how custom solutions can position them for future growth. It’s not enough to keep up; the goal should be to lead—and that requires investing in technology that’s flexible, scalable, and purpose-built.
With innovation at the core and partners like cyberocean.co.uk offering advanced technological solutions, businesses are better equipped than ever to turn digital challenges into strategic opportunities. By embracing this dual approach of enhanced communication and customized software, forward-thinking enterprises are setting new standards for operational excellence across the United Kingdom.

Creating a Truly Inclusive Workplace in 2025
In 2025, building a truly inclusive workplace is not just a goal but a necessity for companies that want to thrive in the ever-evolving business environment. As organizations adapt to changing employee expectations and global shifts, inclusivity is becoming a core value that drives innovation, engagement, and success. Recent HR trends for 2025 show a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), reflecting the growing awareness of creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.
In this blog, we’ll explore recent HR trends in 2025 that are transforming how companies approach inclusivity, the strategies they are implementing to foster diverse and inclusive environments, and how HR software is playing a crucial role in this process.
1. Shifting DEI from Policy to Practice
In 2024, we saw a heightened focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a fundamental aspect of workplace culture. Many companies introduced DEI policies and hired diversity officers to ensure their organizations were reflecting societal values. However, in 2025, the emphasis is on shifting DEI from policy to practice. It’s no longer enough to have policies in place—organizations must ensure that these principles are fully integrated into everyday business operations.
Creating a truly inclusive workplace means going beyond compliance. Organizations are focusing on inclusivity in recruitment, onboarding, career development, and leadership representation. Companies are taking a data-driven approach, using HR software to track key metrics such as the representation of underrepresented groups, pay equity, and promotion rates. By turning these insights into action, businesses can ensure that inclusivity is not just a buzzword but a lived experience for all employees.
2. The Role of HR Software in Advancing Inclusivity
HR software is playing a critical role in advancing inclusivity in the workplace. Recent HR trends for 2025 highlight the increasing use of technology to create equitable systems that eliminate bias in various HR processes.
For example, AI-powered HR software can help companies create more inclusive recruitment processes by reducing human bias in candidate selection. These platforms can anonymize resumes, ensuring that hiring decisions are based solely on skills and qualifications rather than unconscious biases related to gender, race, or ethnicity. Additionally, HR software can automatically screen candidates for diversity goals, helping companies create balanced teams from the outset.
Performance management is another area where HR software is making a difference. With continuous performance tracking tools, businesses can evaluate employees based on real-time data, helping to eliminate biases that can occur in annual reviews. Moreover, feedback loops and employee sentiment analysis help HR teams identify issues related to inclusivity and address them proactively.
3. Recent HR Trends in 2025
As the workplace continues to evolve, hybrid work models have become a permanent fixture in the landscape of work, following trends seen in 2024. However, inclusivity within hybrid and remote work environments presents unique challenges. In 2025, HR leaders are focused on ensuring that all employees—whether they work remotely, in-office, or a combination of both—feel equally included in company culture and have access to the same opportunities for growth and development.
One way organizations are achieving this is through the strategic use of HR software designed for hybrid work management. These platforms facilitate seamless collaboration and communication between remote and in-office teams, ensuring that all employees stay connected and engaged. By providing virtual spaces for team collaboration and feedback, HR software ensures that employees who may not be physically present in the office are not overlooked when it comes to promotions, professional development, or participation in key projects.
Another major trend is the use of virtual DEI initiatives, such as online inclusion training programs and virtual mentorships, to ensure all employees, regardless of location, can actively participate in diversity and inclusion efforts.
4. Personalization and Belonging: Key Elements of Inclusivity
One of the HR trends in 2024 that is continuing into 2025 is the focus on personalized employee experiences. A truly inclusive workplace must cater to the individual needs of its employees, recognizing that everyone has different preferences, challenges, and goals. Companies are increasingly offering personalized benefits packages, flexible work schedules, and tailored development programs to ensure that all employees feel supported and valued.
HR software plays a vital role in personalizing the employee experience. These platforms can collect data on employee preferences, work habits, and career goals, allowing companies to offer personalized recommendations for development opportunities, wellness programs, and work-life balance initiatives. Additionally, AI-driven learning management systems can create individualized learning paths for employees, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need to grow and succeed.
Creating a sense of belonging is also key to an inclusive workplace. Employees need to feel that they are part of a community where their contributions are recognized and valued. In 2025, companies are using employee engagement tools within HR software to foster community-building and ensure that employees feel connected to their teams, regardless of their location.
5. Addressing Bias and Ensuring Equity
One of the most challenging aspects of creating an inclusive workplace is addressing unconscious bias and ensuring equity across all HR processes. In 2025, organizations are using HR software to tackle these issues head-on. AI and automation are particularly useful in eliminating bias from critical HR functions, such as recruitment, promotions, and performance evaluations.
For example, AI-driven recruitment tools can help ensure that job descriptions are gender-neutral and inclusive, attracting a diverse pool of candidates. These tools can also analyze data from previous hiring processes to identify patterns of bias and recommend corrective actions. Similarly, pay equity analysis tools within HR software help organizations track compensation trends and ensure that employees are being paid fairly, regardless of their background or demographics.
6. Mental Health and Well-Being as Part of Inclusivity
Recent HR trends in 2025 emphasize the growing importance of mental health and well-being as part of creating an inclusive workplace. Inclusivity goes beyond ensuring diversity in hiring—it also involves creating a supportive environment where all employees feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. Companies are expanding their well-being programs to include mental health support, flexible working hours, and access to counseling services.
HR software helps organizations manage these programs by offering wellness tracking tools, mental health resources, and feedback mechanisms to monitor employee well-being. By collecting data on employee stress levels, work-life balance, and overall satisfaction, HR teams can make informed decisions on how to improve their well-being initiatives and create a more inclusive environment for all.
Conclusion
Creating a truly inclusive workplace in 2025 is about more than just hiring a diverse workforce—it’s about ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. As the recent HR trends in 2025 highlight, inclusivity is now deeply integrated into the core of business strategy, and HR software is playing a pivotal role in making this transformation possible.
By leveraging HR software to track diversity metrics, eliminate bias, personalize employee experiences, and support well-being, companies can create environments where every employee feels like they belong. In this evolving landscape, organizations that prioritize inclusivity will not only attract top talent but also foster innovation and drive long-term success.
